Our room was amazing! Had a garden view as well as a spectacular ocean view! We occupied 6 rooms, and all were great! Clean and comfortable. Loved that we could get a new beach towel everyday :) The pool was amazing as well. They have so much to do there on the property, and lots of games you can borrow! Fun for all! Can't wait to go back!

The grounds are nice and staff was courteous. The room was fine with the exception of one pivotal item. The air conditioning is not sufficient to cool the bedroom and it was hot. I am a firefighter from the desert where it is very hot, so its not like we cannot take heat. This is a known problem as we spoke to others there and they had the same experience with the one bedroom units. We tried opening the windows at night to get outside air, but all of the bedrooms face the common walkway and our neighbors smoked marijuana every night and it would waft in the room and there wasn't enough air movement to cool off anyway. There was a portable fan there, and we placed it in the hall to try and direct some of the air conditioned air in the bedroom, but it was still uncomfortable at night. The complex needs to have an additional head unit for the AC in the bedroom. Everything else was ok, location is convenient for the island. This is my 7th time to Kauai, so I feel I have a decent data set for where to stay-if you like to be comfortable at night give this one a miss.

We will be coming back as this place has everything. We stayed 22 days and the staff are great. Lots of places walking distance from condo. The beach out front is great. You can rent chairs, snorkeling gear , coolers and more. Lots of fun stuff to do on sight also games and have a pool.

Love the restricted ocean view and the sound of waves crashing onto the beach. Condo is very close to the beach, but waves at the time were too rough for swimming. But no problems, there are other beaches with much calmer water a short drive away.

The location and the complex were very nice. Check-in wasn't until 6pm which is not convenient after a long flight. FYI, the unit does not have air conditioning in the bedroom.

The property is very nice clean, and safe. The condo almost had everything we needed. The only problem we had is you had to pay to rent chairs to sit on the beach. Otherwise, I would recommend others to stay there. I would also stay there again.

This was a good place in a great resort for a family of 4 with small children. It was simple and dated, but reasonably priced, clean, and served the purpose of being a place to sleep and prepare/eat some of our meals. The property manager was sweet and check in was a breeze.

Our experience at pono Kai was great most everyone was friendly everting was clean and beautiful. Beautifully landscaped the grandsons loved the pool & koi pond as swell as the giant chess set. It was a blast to see all the wild chickens!

Each morning we would wake up and walk across the facilities to watch the sun rise over the ocean. There weee nearby hammocks and other seating just for this purpose. The condo was clean and well maintained. This was a very easy place to fall in love with.

It was a great experience and I would stay here again! Sure, may have more updated properties on island, but no other property is as accomadating! Bocce ball, yard games, ping pong, tons of free games and rentals available! This is the best property on island!

This was our 2nd time to Kauai and staying at Pono Kai was a great choice. Central location was key for everything we wanted while on the island. Cuts the road time down a lot allowing for more relaxing. Mahalo we really enjoyed our stay!!

This is the first time we have stayed here through VRBO, although we have stayed at this property twice before. The owner was accomodating and her communication was top notch. The unit was clean, and had all listed furnishings. We would stay again. That said, there are some things to note:
1. The couch demands replacement!! It is FULL of lumps and is terribly uncomfortable.
2. Lighting can be dim. There are enough lamps, but the wattage used is low. Bathroom lighting could be improved by using LED lights.
3. This is NO fault of the owner, but this is an older property. You can hear people through the bedroom wall (I heard people snoring), through the ceiling, and even below you. If you aren't prepared for that, look elsewhere.

We loved the location of this property, especially the proximity to the walking/biking trail that goes for some miles along the beautiful beach, and the nearby restaurants and shopping opportunities. Having an elevator in the building was handy for initial move in. The pool and spa are a bit small for the number of units in this complex, making it challenging at times to find space in that area, but it was workable. The unit could use a facelift, particularly the flooring, but guessing that would need to be a project for the entire complex, not just one unit. It was very workable and we really enjoyed breakfast on the patio each day. We had a lovely stay in paradise!

This was a very nice condominium complex. The rooms were spacious. They had everything that we needed, and more. Plenty of pots and pans and dishware to do all the cooking for easily a family of four. Very nice comfortable balcony and beautiful views.

Location is great, you can easily walk to so many restaurants and bike along the beach. Resort has beautiful grounds with lots of amenities (pool, hot tub, mini golf, BBQs, croquet, etc). The room was clean but outdated (pictures were accurate). Amazing ocean view, we watched the sunrise every morning. One downside is that it gets very hot in the bedroom (even in October) since it faces the sun and there's no AC there. The AC unit is only in the living room.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this Pono Kai condo. It's comfortable and has nearly every amenity that you will need for an extended stay. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The grounds of the complex are always tended to. You will consistently find yourself listening to waves on the lanai. The only issue continued to have were the upstairs neighbors every night of our stay. The excess noise and racket was rather Annoying and disturbing after a hard day of kauai adventures and all you wanted to do was rest through the night. I think we survived at least 4 different noisy tenants above us. But otherwise we had a blast on the island and this condo quickly became like our home.
