This is a very comfy place, akin to bougie hotel room except without room/turndown service. It’s quiet and the sunrise over Mauna Loa is amazing. Had all the Beach equipment we needed to enjoy ourselves without any hassle. Only reason for 4 stars is the fact that when I lost my email (still don’t know where it went) with the codes we called a number listed on another email for management, and we never heard back after leaving a message. I ended up realizing that I memorized all the codes so it was fine, but still kinda weird that no one got back to us. So if you’re staying over a wknd just know you’re kinda on your own. Other than that, place was great. One other thing that has nothing to do with the place itself is that the little village where the place is located is very touristy. Almost exclusively tourists. And all the shops and stuff reflect that. So if you want to see the island and experience the real Hawai’i ya gotta drive. But it is a good Homebase for that. Enjoy! Mahalo!

We had a great time exploring the island. The condo was perfect. We had an issue with the tv which was resolved quickly.

What a great condo!! It was clean, quiet, and well equipped, It has a wonderful porch to enjoy the amazing view of Mauna Kea and surrounding land. We did not use the pool etc.. as our friends live in next neighborhood down so we used their pool. We did check it all out and it looked impeccably maintained. We were hoping for a Waikalola open play Pickleball group but not to be found. Keep in mind we really liked this place and will stay here again in a heartbeat so the following are only ways we think will make it better. 1. Please change out the mirrored sliding closet doors- we see these a lot in Hawaii and it makes no sense for sleeping. The dining room mirror makes great sense as it enhances the beautiful view in its reflection. 2. When I was sitting on the couch with feet up there was a wooden bar I sunk into- I had to sit on a pillow to soften it and even then felt the hardness. 3. We ended up putting a pillow on corner of bed frame as my husband ran into it a couple times coming from the far side of the bed. Overall… Thank you for sharing such a private, quiet, well maintained, centrally located condo home!! We hope to be renting it again next winter durning Whale season. Aloha

It was difficult to find this particular unit as I couldn’t get my email up First thing we noticed was the smoke detector hanging on the wall. Phoned maintenance Wednesday, today is Saturday & still it hangs. Also notified office about the light switch in the laundry room. Wouldn’t stay on (kind of shorting out). Found a lot of the switches needed looking at. Then there was the bed. Great if you like soft beds….not a fan of them. Three one-inch foam mattresses on top of the old mattress! Sunk down a lot. Pillows are very hard so switched out for the nice ones for the hide-a-bed. Carpet needs a good clean, or better yet, replacement. Lastly there needs to be some kind of water filter system, maybe even a Brita. The water tasted “off”. Oh, and seriously, what’s with all the signs? On the bright side all the beach equipment was great to have. We enjoyed our stay overall just some things need to be fixed or upgraded

Fantastic sunrise and singing birds in the Am. Very quite and we’ll equipped. Beach chairs and boogie boards were a plus! Hope to stay here again in the future.

Pros: the two tennis courts were (mostly) available when we wanted early morning or late afternoon; the commercial quality fitness center had great equipment & free weights and was mostly empty; we enjoyed beautiful mountain views and glorious sunrises from the balcony/lanai; the walk to the Queens Marketplace wasn’t too far but just far enough; the unit had all the beach toys we wanted (2 boogie boards, beach chairs, and an umbrella), dedicated parking was conveniently close. Cons: the carpet was stained/dirty/gross. Really, this one thing was a downer every minute we were inside the unit. For this one reason, we will be seeking different accommodation next year.

My wife and I enjoyed our 2 week stay at this condo at The Shores. Overall, very comfortable and has everything you need to have a pleasant and enjoyable holiday. Kitchen has functional supplies and most are in good condition. King Bed was quite comfortable and great space on the lanai for meals with breathtaking views of the far off Mauna Kea. Great sunrises and a great spot for 2 persons. Some constructive feedback: Carpets are rather tired and either need a deep clean or to be replaced. Also, blinds are needing to be replaced as they are on their last days (1 blind in living room was not functional). Beach ammenties - chairs, umbrella, etc were great and appreciated! We really enjoyed it and will come back again! Thank you!!

Really enjoyed staying here. It is very close (walking distance) to everything, yet you feel like you are in a quiet secluded place. All was very comfortable with all you need at your fingertips.

Beautiful property in a quiet setting with quick access to everything you need. Apartment was tastefully decorated and well supplied with all the appliances and utensils that make a five star rating! Wonderful wrap around lanai with spectacular views of the mountains. One of the best stays we’ve experienced.

Clean, comfortable, and fairly well equipped. Nice golf course and mountain views behind the parking lot directly below. Very communicative and informative management team, and friendly and responsive service when we called to report a broken closet door. Our only major complaint isn't with the condo but rather the complex as a whole - it's strangely unfriendly to pedestrians, with no walkways between buildings and facilities, including the pool and workout room.

Well kept complex and our choice of a unit this trip was driven by the view of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and the Kohala Mountains, all of which were visible from our unit, from well before actual sunrise until well beyond sunset. We hope to return for another visit within the next year!

My friend and I enjoyed our time in Wakaloa and would love to come back to the area with my husband. Very nice condo but we did not use the kitchen except for breakfast. Bed was comfortable and area was very nice.

This was our umpteenth time on the Big Island, but our first time in a condo in Hawaii. It’s been Marriott hotels since the first time we visited Hawaii. Our first time in a condo was a great experience. There were a few “less than perfect moments”, but overall the unit and the property was great. I hope we can stay here again soon. Most days we had the pool to ourselves for at least 2 hours. When there were others (families, retirees) it was still quiet and relaxing. We talked to some people who either own a condo or have stayed here for years. We heard over and over again that the big win at this complex as it’s age – it’s old. Old means that it was designed back when having plants, trees and water features were the norm. Folks told us about other properties nearby that were pretty much all concrete from your door to the pool. The complex is well maintained to the point that it felt like a hotel – groundskeepers out every morning keeping it pristine. One thing we had to get used to was that it’s not a hotel – you have to clean up after yourself – but the condo came fully equipped making that easy. For this specific unit, the only “negative” things I’d bring up is that it’s time this unit gets new furniture and a tune up (e.g. sliding mirror). But there was so much more positive about the unit that we were happy with our first stay. The management team were responsive to our questions before and during our stay. Overall – a great place to sit back and relax.

Great location, convince to all of your needs. Only reason not 5 star is it is a bit dated, needs a new lock on the front door, and was very warm at 74 degrees on the ac.

The unit was located in the Shores at Waikoloa. It is on the Waikoloa property, but is in a quieter location inside a gated community. If you are golfing on Kona side, this is the perfect location to stay. It's about a 15 minute drive from Mauna Lani and a 5 minute drive from the Waikoloa courses. The unit itself was better than advertised. The high ceilings made the unit seem larger than it was, and the central A/C and ceiling fan combination worked well for keeping the room at a comfortable temperature. The bed was amazing. I know I was tired from being in the sun and golfing, but I slept like a baby. We will definitely consider staying here again when we make our next golf trip out to Kona. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Well kept property with view of volcanos not named Moana Kea. Close to the beach and pathways through the lava along the shoreline. Condo was clean with a well outfitted kitchen. Definitely we would stay again.

Let me first start with the "good". It's a very quiet property. The grounds are well kept and you have access to a full kitchen and washer and dryer. They do provide ample supplies (although no kleenex and we ran out of toilet paper) Now the "bad". It was not very clean. After paying quiet a bit for a "cleaning fee" I felt it was not clean. There was a previous guest's contact lens on the bathroom floor. The dishwasher soap dispenser doesn't open when you run it so the dishes in the cupboard were not clean - we had to hand wash. The carpet is old. The one in the kitchen needs to be replaced as the edge is curling and we tripped on it several times. The blinds for the sliding door are broken and in desperate need of replacement. I sat on a chair around the dining table and it was rickety and unsteady. While others said you can walk to the beach and shops I would disagree. Quite a walk in the hot weather. The only place you can really walk to easily is Tropics Ale House (did not go, never seemed too busy) and over to the Hilton. For the money I think there must be better properties.

The condo was just as described in the listing. It was easy to find, easy check in, clean, and very-conveniently located for what I needed. It had everything I needed and then some. Thanks!
