We really enjoyed staying in this unit and wish we had booked 2 nights to have more time in this beautiful area. The balcony had a great view and we slept so peacefully listening to the waves. We'll be back.

This was our second time at the Hana Kai. It's a wonderful property. Quaint, which means old, but is in good condition. It's very close to a black rock beach, no one (that I have ever seen) uses the beach to swim, lay out, play, etc, because it's rocks and not sand, but still a great time to explore the coral and see some crabs. The room we stayed in is really small, and I kept banging my foot and knee against the bed which is sandwiched between the walls and the dresser. The decor is excellent and the condo has a full kitchen and our unit had a cute little window from the kitchen to the veranda, which made preparing food, and serving it to others outside a delight. Food / Restaurant options in Hana are few and far between, and many places are only open on Wed & Thurs, so keep that in consideration. We ate at the Hana Maui Ranch Restaurant a few times, which is great, expensive food. The two state parks in Hana are a MUST. Hana reminds me more of Kauai or a tropical rain forest. It's unbelievable

Beautiful views. Location is near the water and you can hear the waves out on the balcony. Property is clean and simple check in. Property is a little dated and furniture is somewhat uncomfortable. Spent a lot of time on back balcony to listen to the water and would’ve loved more comfortable furniture especially for the price. Overall would stay again.

Pros: great balcony views, very close to local markets, beaches, restaurants. Cons: bedroom patio opens to the street/ parking lot, and can still have some loud vehicles later in the evenings.
Overall for a one-night stay, for our first time in Hana, it was a welcome stop after driving on 360 for several hours.
Black and red sand beaches are easy walking distance from the location.

The condo had everything we needed for our family of four (though we brought a twin air mattress as our boys were too big to share the sofa bed). It was clean and had a great view. We enjoyed eating out on the lanai, and having a nice place to rest in between our Hana adventures.

Exactly as pictured, very clean, walk to the ocean (rocky shore), easy check-out. We only stayed 1 night and didn't use the kitchen. There is no A/C, but several floor-standing fans to help cool the place. You can watch the sunrise from your porch!

There were HUGE cockroaches inside!! There were bugs/ants all the kitchen. There is a homeless camp right next to the property, on the beach. It didn’t feel safe to walk around on the beach with our children, or to sleep without the doors and windows locked as there were homeless men walking back and forth past the building, using the property as a way to access the homeless camp. With no air conditioning and having to close/lock the doors and windows, it was very hot and hard to sleep. I had to pay extra for my two children, but the sofa bed is NOT adequate to be considered sleeping for two people. Would NOT recommend.

This hotel, at the end of the the road to Hana, provided a comfortable stay for four travelers after a long day of driving & walking. Room was clean and offered everything we needed for our brief stay in Hana.
We came in early September - during our stay we found there wasn't much breeze coming in for cooling. The suite did come with fans and they helped. We weren't sweltering but it was a bit warmer than ideal.

Everything was great, clean space, spectacular views, the only feedback I provided the property manager would be to upgrade the spring mattress inside the sofa bed. I have low expectations for comfort of sofa-beds in general, this one's mattress was particularly uncomfortable with really weak springs, even for my kids, even placing it on the ground directly didn't help. A thin foam mattress would do the trick.

We stayed in Hana for 3 nights. We loved our stay. The view was amazing. The condo had everything you would need. We enjoyed the near by beaches. We ate lunch at the food trucks and dinner at Hana Ranch. There is no ac but we never got hot. The breeze was nice. We would definitely stay again.

Our host was absolutely delightful. Everything was prepared with the utmost care for our comfort and enjoyment. We were greeted with fresh flowers and fresh papaya grown on property. Fresh eggs from the chickens 50 ft away, a loaf of scrumptious homemade bread and chilled wine in the fridge. Sharyn and her staff were attentive but had utmost respect for our privacy. A perfect honeymoon getaway we will cherish always. Such a special place!

This place was perfect for a night in Hana. The condo was just as the photos, if not better (no catfishing!) the view was amazing and the property has direct access to a public rocky beach with a sand beach maybe a quarter of a mile away. We stopped halfway on the Road to Hana and it was perfect to recharge and watch the sunset from our massive balcony. I
The condos are run more like a hotel, so check out process was the simplest I’ve had with booking VRBO. Highly recommend!

This is the place where you just want to relax and enjoy the view. I would recommend this place going to Road to Hana. Stay overnight and do the Pipiwai trail. Walk around the property and see the black sand. Seat in the patio and enjoy the breeze. Easy check in and check out.

I had read that it was a noisy location so I shouldn't have been surprised. But it was just that. You could hear conversations from folks in units above or below you quite easily. And there was also some sort of pump that would turn on and run in the middle of the night that kept us up as well. It's too bad because everything else was top notch. No issues whatsoever. But when you can't get a good night's sleep while on vacation, it does put a damper on things.

We loved our 3 might stay in Hana. Staying multiple nights allowed us to take advantage of all the lesser known amazing features on the east side of Maui. The units are nice with a beautiful ocean view of sunrise. Only downfall is that you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Not a problem unless you have wild kids above you running laughing and banging around at 4 in the morning. That’s luck if the draw though, you might have all adults to that are careful to be quiet until a decent time. Overall, I’d stay here again for sure, maybe try and get a top floor room for a better view and more quiet. Just remember the people below can hear you.

Overall our stay was wonderful. The property sits along the water with a short walk and this room has partial ocean view from the bedroom and balcony (you can see the ocean but lower building blocks the waves). It was spacious and had all amenities that we needed for our stay. It was so nice after having spent the week in a hotel to have so much room to move around, have the full kitchen and appliances, and have the balcony to sit out on! The only recommendation I have is that the balcony did not have any lights on so got dark at night. But was the perfect place to stay for the night to break up our drive.

Location was great. Only thing that I didn’t like was there was no A/c. You’re provided with a small portable fan and that’s it. The ceiling fans are slow. We slept with the balcony open and in the living room on a pull out couch because the bedroom had no air coming In. I don’t remember seeing that a/c was not provided.

This was a great job place to stay in Hana! Location was excellent. The black sand beach within walking distance was a real treat. We paid to park at the state park and paid $30 for a two hour window at a black sand beach and the beach at the complex was just as good and not crowded at all. The views from the lanai were beautiful. The open air concept and no air conditioning worked out really well as it was not hot in the unit in the middle of August. I would definitely stay here again.

The property is very conveniently and centrally located in Hana. It’s a nice property but the kitchen could be better equipped. Cleanliness could’ve been better. Lot of dust was settled on the shutters and doors. Overall a great location!
