- found empty small tequila bottles
- extra bedsheets and pillows were stained and not cleaned properly
- hair dryer malfunctioned and almost caught fire
- storage unit in master bedroom was missing door and had wires and ladders exposed.

Day 3 lost power, went to the other side of the island to get a hot meal and the roads back were closed for 3 days. We slept in our rental car (5) adults.
Got back to our room cleaned out all the spoiled rotten food from the fridge, packed our bags and left a day early!
Thank god for friends of friends that opened their home in Kihei for our last 2 days on the island.
I am very sympathetic to the plight of the people of Maui, the communication from the authorities was nonexistent!

The condo is very nice and updated which can accommodate 8 people. The view from the balcony is incredible looking straight out to the ocean looking at the islands of Molakai and Lanai. Sunsets are great right from the balcony. You can go out in the ocean in front of the rock wall during low tide and there is a sandy beach on either side of the resort. There is one AC in the living room so fans are used to help circulate the air. Keep the balcony shades closed to help keep the sun out to keep the condo cooler. I would definitely recommend this condo.

The family room and lanai lead out right to the crystal blue pacific. Opening these doors cooled the house and all we heard were sounds of the ocean. House was spacious, a little dated. Bathroom shower drains backed up. Overall, loved the 3 night stay.

The location was great, the view was amazing, everyone was good to deal with. Had a problem with the plumbing the last four days which made things very disruptive. Without the plumbing issue (probably not a regular thing) it was a great visit. Second time at Papakea and would go again.

This unit is in a great location, walkable to lots of beaches, shops and restaurants, but just a little past the main busy walking path. The unit was clean and one hiccup at check-in was quickly resolved. The view from the deck is beautiful and the resort is clean and has everything you need. Would stay there again with friends.

A403first day- door fell off dresser,toilet backed up,mirror doors would not open, place was a little dirty( only surface cleaning was done)no lights working in the loft( all light blubs were burned out)after 2 days we noticed that the A/C was not working to good-we find that the A/C was dirty filter was clogged So Disgusting. also both bathroom fans were the same way(just no filter needed in those fans.On a Good note when we call to get these items fixed. They did a Great job fixing them. We did have mid weeks cleaning done - That went Great-New bed sheets, New Beach Towels for the whole place.for Papakea Resort - We love the place!!!!only issues not enough Lounge chairs at the pools On Thurdays Free Mai Tai Drinks ( how do you run out of Rum so fast?) every Thursday we were there.

We had a wonderful stay at Papakea resort unit A403. Most gorgeous view of the sunsets and ocean and all we could ask for. Clean, plenty of beach and bath towels for 8. Beds were comfortable and everything we needed in the kitchen. The only negative would be the condition of the carpets in the bedrooms. I would recommend replacing the carpet with tiles in order to maintain the look of the condo. Carpets are stained and used looking. Otherwise, everything else was perfect.

We checked in at 3 and were told the room was ready. Dragged all our bags and groceries up and the cleaning people were just starting to clean our condo! Took until 4:40 to be able to bring bags in and put groceries away. Not the way we wanted to start the week.

We enjoyed Papakea but would not stay in this unit again. The carpets are filthy and didn't make me want to walk on them in bare feet. Kitchen appliances are needing to be upgraded. Bi-fold doors to washer and dryer don't open far enough to get the dryer door closed, Master shower head leaks and is pulling away from the wall, tile is cracked. The stairs to the loft area are steep and aren't safe for kids. I needed an iron and ironing board and was told there was not one in the unit, there was but the ironing board needs to be replaced. There were beach chairs, but the umbrella was broken. The view was amazing, and the location of Papakea was great.

Surface wiring exposed, furnishings outdated, disgusting dirty bedroom carpet, and cook wear a horrible miss mash of small wear! Will NOT be returning. The property managers informed us that the owners would not receive our customer feedback comments until after four or five months of our stay, so we are reiterating the same information here!

It is a nice property but it is dated. Our room overlooked the ocean… this was amazing!! The view was beyond beautiful. The kitchen needs an over hall in terms of what’s available. There was only 5 bowls, only 2 mugs one of which was majorly chipped, minimal plastic to go containers and most didn’t have lids, no kettle and the one cupboard was full of expired food, spices, peanut butter etc…
It looks like they did a bit of updating maybe but they could’ve just spent a little bit more and it would’ve had a major impact on the overall. Be aware there are mirrors EVERYWHERE. I mean mirrored walls . There is one wall unit air conditioner that works well but only for the main room. The bedrooms get very hot, it’s a little better if you leave all doors open.
But I’m comparison to other options on Maui it’s a good option. It is located just past the end of Kaanapali beach just a short walk and you don’t have to pay higher to get right on the beach. We have 4 adults and 1 teen and the loft and 2 bedrooms worked well for us. It was also great to have the full kitchen and washer dryer.
One major issue is the ensuite bathroom shower…. There is a huge step down…. I ended up falling when I exited. I hurt my knee ankles arm etc…
There should be a serious warning about it

My husband and I brought my mother and two children (10 & 7) to Maui for their first time. Upon arrival, our check in experience was welcoming and quick. We opened the door and saw the most gorgeous view ever. My kids quickly claimed the loft, my mother had her own room, and my husband and I had the master. We had all the kitchen tools we needed and a grocery store was just a short distance away. There were pool noodles, beach toys, beach chairs, snorkel gear, and pool towels ready and waiting for us. After spending a week at Disney Aulani, I have to say, this was a more comfortable experience! We all slept very well on the beds and pillows. The ocean was right below us and as we walked along it, we saw sea turtles and little crabs. The home was clean and we loved that there was a washer and dryer in unit. We saw a beautiful view of Moloka'i and saw rainbows every single day from the balcony. We would absolutely stay here again!

The condo was well equipped with everything we needed. Plenty of room for four adults to have space while enjoying their getaway.
The view from the deck was directly on the ocean. That was a lovely surprise, we thought based on the photos we'd have a peek a boo view of the ocean, overlooking the pool. After checking in and reviewing our reservation, there were accurate photos of the view, they didn't lead with the ocean front photo. It didn't impact our booking, we were pleased with the location of the condo.
Honestly, we spend the first 45 minutes cleaning the kitchen, the housekeepers aren't doing the job I would expect based on the fee we were charged for cleaning.
There is some deferred maintenance that we all agreed needed attention, with covid and the shut down of the island, we understand why certain things were deferred to later.
With all this said, we would absolutely rebook once we knew some of the deferred maintenace had been done.
Its hard not to have a fabulous time when you are on Maui.

First time Maui vistor here so we didn't know where to stay on the island. This location was good for all things west Maui and our unit looked right out on the ocean, which was great. The fourth floor was perfect, no sounds from neighbors above us. The unit itself had enough space with our younger two taking the loft and the oldest taking the full bedroom. However the unit was a little dated and the living room space felt a bit more cramped than I'd expected. The place was clean but the old tiled bathrooms with poor lighting made it feel like it wasn't as clean. The view was gorgeous. The beds were ok, the master bedroom itself was nothing special and I was a little disappointed in that. There was a closet stocked with extra boogie boards and chairs and that was super helpful. The kitchen was stocked ok but it kind of felt like the plates and glasswear was all leftover from somebody cleaning out a kitchen. It would be nicer to have full matching sets, it is just feels better. That said, it did the trick and we were able to make simple meals which worked well for us. The kids took advantage of the pool/hot tub, putting greens and shuffleboards and those were all big hits for them. There's a few restaurants and food trucks withing walking distance along with a really great grocery store. Visiting Maui involved a lot more driving and parking than I'd realized. There are a lot of units in Papakea so you won't feel like you've got space around you but the grounds are nice and we could always find parking. You cannot do a lot beach walk from here as the properties gate themselves off so you can only walk a couple properties in either direction. We drove down to South Maui for one day and the rest of the time we spent visiting beaches like Kaanapali, Napali Bay and DT Flemming. If I were to book another trip, I think I'd try to get up by Napili Bay to a place where I can walk to the beach. The drive wasn't far, just required a little more planning and packing up than I'd visualized. There was pretty good snorekling right off the beach in front of us. Overall, a good stay and now I better understand the layout of Maui.

This is such a cute resort. I was extremely pleased with the room I chose for my family, it ended up being perfect for my family of 6.
We had a beachfront view and I walked out to the small beach in front every morning to enjoy the view. At night I sat on the balcony with my husband to enjoy the view and sound.
The rooms came equipped with everything we needed for the beach and more which was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t even need to bring beach toys for my 5 year old. We had boogie boards, snorkeling gear, coolers, pool floats, pool rings and more.
Everything in the room worked fine and we even cooked a few meals. The kitchen was fully stocked. I loved that.
We were in the 4th floor and I was worried it would be exhausting going up and down but it was fine. Everything was close, the beach, the pool, the mini golf and shuffle board, the parking. The elevator was always quick. We never had to wait.
Overall, it was a really great experience. We all had a great time.

We really like the unit and the location, but checking in the unit was really not clean. The floor was dusty, the countertops had food stains, the stove top had stains, and the refrigerator really smelled bad. We spent a good 2 hrs wiping everything down. After that we had a great stay, but just wish cleaning was better.

This was a wonderful vacation. Home was beautiful, just as described. Owner was very responsive to all questions we had. I would highly recommend this VRBO to anyone looking for a relaxing spot for a getaway. It is very convenient to many places. We did lots of walking and saw many whales last week. Hope to return to Hawaii in the future....it is a paradise!
