Very convenient place to visit attractions and events on West Maui. The condo has everything you need to dine-in if you want but also close to several restaurants, malls and stores. Definitely saw whales from the place and enjoyed having the morning coffee/breakfast while watching and hearing the waves from the lanai.
Fortunately, the disastrous Lahaina fire hasn't stopped the community from getting back on its feet and re-opening for locals and visitors. Glad to be a contributor to the recovery by buying local and can't wait to re-visit when Lahaina town re-opens in a few years.

We really enjoyed Bev’s place and all that Papakea Resort had to offer. Stunning to sit on the lanai and watch the waves pound the shore and whales breach in the distance. The kitchen was especially well-appointed. We had to feed 2 hungry teens through going to Costco and the kitchen had everything we needed. One piece of advice I would offer other families interested in renting this peaceful space: It would be more roomy for those with small kids rather than teens. The pullout bed in the living room would accommodate small ones better. And any party over 2 will be charged an extra $10 per person per night, despite the condo being advertised to sleep 4. However, we made the most of it and Bev was wonderful in providing an extra foamie for the floor.

Everything we needed was there. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes. We cooked about half the time, the grills by the pool are great. The beach chairs and cooler were a great plus.
Great communication with the owner, she is very sweet and made sure we were all set.
We’ve been to Maui 5 times and this will be our new go-to place to stay.

The location and ocean front views can not be beat. The property was clean and well equipped. The ocean front property is so close to the water, whale watching was an all day occurrence from the lanai. Thanks for the stay, would stay here again.

Love Papakea. The older low rise, 4 story buildings, large grounds, wide walk ways, two pools and hot tubs, and ocean front are a gem for those of us who don’t want to be on the 13th floor and packed elbow to elbow by a pool. Unit is prime - feels like you are on the water - waves provide audio background. Everything up to date, clean, useable. Good neighborhood. Markets, takeouts, food truck cite, restaurants all within walking distance. Easy drive to Lahaina.

We’ve stayed at Papakea many times and have rented from Bev all but once. Grounds are beautiful. Condo is everything you could ask for on a Maui trip. Lots of places to eat within walking distance and coffee on the lanai in the morning is the BEST!

It was a bit of a splurge to stay here, but we are glad we went for it. We were able to see whales in the distance in mid December. We drove to other beaches for snorkeling as it was too windy/wavey here, but they were closeby and we enjoyed coming home to the activities at the Papakea.

We thoroughly enjoyed the ocean front view from this condo! The owners were easy to communicate with and responded to all our questions. The condo itself has all the necessities plus many extras like dishwasher soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc. There are beach towels, chairs and snorkel gear which we did not need. The complex itself is beautiful with lots of green space and Hawaiian flowers and foliage as well as activities like a putting green and free Mai Tai's on Thursday nights. We were able to walk all the way down the north part of Kaanapali beach from the complex. The trade off for being ocean front requires a longer walk from the parking area which was not an issue for us. The split a/c did not quite cool the bedroom down as much as it did in the living area, which was only an issue for the hot flash sufferer. We would definitely stay here again.

Great property and unit for getting away after putting on our daughter's wedding. The condo was super clean and the ocean view and amazing sunsets were exactly what we needed. Being able to walk to Duke's and other restaurants was an added bonus. Would definitely stay here again!

This 3rd story property is located approx 50 feet from the ocean separated by lawn area and stone retaining wall. Easy access to ocean when tide is out. Incredible sunsets and views of Molokai and Lanai. Complex is quiet and well maintained. We highly recommend this property.

My husband and I stayed in F309 for a week, and it was easily one of our favorite vacations. The property is amazing, but you really can’t beat the ocean view. We watched sunset every night from our balcony, saw sea turtles swimming right below us, and enjoyed the sound of the waves from our bedroom. Thanks for hosting us in paradise! Papakea is a great place to stay in Maui and building F is the best building on the property. Bev (and Mike) is great to work with their unit is very nice. We appreciated the new wood flooring and the taller chairs/table on the balcony.

This is a beautiful place that it is ON THE OCEAN, just as in the picture! We watched beautiful sunsets on the balcony while enjoying a glass of wine. For those who wish the prepare their own meals, the kitchen is well equipped with quality utensils. The owners, Bev and Mike, were very very responsive to the couple questions we asked them. Resort has 2 pools ,each with hot tubs. If the place has a drawback, it is that the A/C is only in the living room, not the back bedroom. The bedroom has a ceiling fan, and if you leave the door to the bedroom open the A/C will largely cool it down. On a night when you are getting good trade winds, you can leave windows/balcony door open and get some good cross breeze. We had a couple nights when it was hot and not breezy, so relied on the A/C. It was comfortable for me but my wife wished for a bedroom A/C unit. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Cons: Owners advertise they are special having just a few “ocean front” to come by. Not true, maybe just by Vrbo. There are many Rental contacts where people can rent at Papakea for less along with the below: (Disappointment)
• Not 1 pen/paper to write with
• NO cooking oil. Complained, and owner Beverly said, “ it’s a “health regulation”. Not accurate. We’ve rented condo’s and they all were equipped with a “variety of oils” in the kitchens. Spices aren’t sanitary.
• Bathroom “overflow” sink was “black, dirty” (unsanitary)- wasn’t cleaned for a long time. We paid for the service to be cleaned prior to the stay
• Condo is very far from the parking lot especially in the evening
• The owner is pride for 5 stars but that’s not true for everyone. The interior needed upgraded cleaning: dining table glass was “dirty”, painting & screen doors needed attention besides the “bathroom overflow” sink. No Kleenex in bathroom
• NO LUGGAGE STANDS to set the suitcases on. (Suitcases, rolling wheels on the ground, airports etc., are very dirty to put on the dresser or the bed). This is the only condo, house , hotel that has never had one.
FYI: If the owners want to talk to me about the complaint, reimbursing at least $75 that would be great. If so, I won’t go forward to send to the public.

Brought our grandson over for a week of surfing and snorkeling. The unit was perfect for the three of us, very clean and well-equipped. View was great and location convenient. Lots of turtles in front of Papakea. Beach equipment was helpful and coffee for the first morning was most appreciated. We would definitely rent here again.

Beautiful view, nice condo, recently updated. Too bad the management couldnt be bothered to sweep the floors and leave a couple rolls of toilet paper. This place could have been 5 stars with a little effort. Papakea's $20 a day "free" parking fee is a ripoff.

I really enjoyed my time in Maui. Supplying binoculars to watch the whales from the balcony was a great added touch. We had plenty of supplies: The location was perfect, walking distance to restaurants, groceries, bars, and beaches. I would definitely stay again!

Couldn’t get any closer to the water and not be on a boat. Sat on the patio for hours overlooking the ocean. Saw dolphins and sea turtles while sipping coffee in the mornings.

The condo was as pictured and very clean! The owners were very responsive. Answered questions quickly. Toaster wasn’t working. They had a new toaster here within hours. The lanai was private with a direct view of the ocean. Lots of lounges available at all times. Grounds were well cared for.
