Plus features: Quite, private, good location.
Negative features: Lots of plates and kitchenware but NO sink. Any home cooking has to be on the gas grill. Sleeps 2 on the bed, but any more is on an air mattress.

Cute unit literally across the street from one of the best beaches in all of Hawaii. (Bed is very soft, which is good for some & bad for others).
Unit is small but well equipped unless you intend to do major cooking. Has AC but in Nov., the lovely winds were more enjoyable way to cool off.
Pool is wonderful; clean, well lit and great size for times you want a dip or something different than ocean.
Plenty of grocery stores and restaurants within 5-10 min drive. Nice off street parking. Nice owners!

Zaq and Susie are really wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and showing us super hospitality.
Kailua beach park is just the other side of street and Lanikai Beach is walking distance.
Air conditioner is a bit lousy but works well.
There are a lot of kitchenware and cookers for Breakfast but no sink for cleaning dishes, you can clean it with kitchen paper first and washing in wash room.
Swimming pool and Jacuzzi were really nice and comfortable. We enjoyed.
Tools are more than enough. Bicycles, Boards, Chairs, Parasols, Goggles, Coolers and so on.
Parking is OK unless you rent a F150 or similar size vehicle.
Zaq and Susie, thank you for making our stay really comfortable.

We had a great time staying at this property! We enjoyed the hot tub every night, and the very short walk to the beach. Also, some of the best coffee in town is in walking distance as well at the market. Also, they were very nice for a quick bite as well. We loved every second of staying here, I would come again!!

We used to live on O’ahu and visit as often as we can, and Kailua is the place to be if you prefer a quiet, residential area with a gorgeous, calm and easily accessible beach, as opposed to the crowded, charmless accommodations in Waikiki.
This was exactly what we were looking for when staying in Kailua, and then some. The unit was spotless, with a very comfortable bed, lots of nice towels, and a mighty little air conditioner which we really appreciated on the hotter days. It did a great job cooling the place down quickly. Hosts were there in person to greet us, and check-in couldn’t have been any easier.
The building is set back just a bit from the main drag on a private lane, and felt very secure. We loved the fact that there was on-site parking (not always the case in this area), bikes and beach gear were provided, and the property is literally across the street from Kailua Beach Park, plus a short walk from restaurants, shops, and so on. There is a pool and hot tub, but we didn’t end up using them during our stay. The yard is nicely landscaped, and we enjoyed listening to birds each morning.
Hosts provided lots of suggestions for places to eat, and included some restaurant menus in the information binder. The unit is equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee machine, toaster and blender - not a place to do serious cooking, but good for breakfast and heating leftovers, which was what we had in mind anyways.

Wonderful location for accessing all Oahu has to offer. Much quieter than the Waikiki Beach area. This place gave us the feel of living like a local. Within walking distance of the beach, shops and restaurants.
Our only suggestion is to do a refresh of the unit. The artificial plants were dusty, the ironing board was cracked and we never found the iron. The wicker furniture is cute but collecting dust. The corners of the bathroom looked dirty. This would not deter me from staying again though, just some observations.

I believe these 2 beaches are close to the most beautiful in the world. The location of the unit was less than 1 block away. Also walking distance from restaurants, shopping and trails. The space was very adequate for 2 adults. The furnishings have seen alot of use. The bed was very comfy.

Nice access through park for sunrise/sunset beach walks and just enjoying Kailua beach & surf….short walk to Buzz’s for nice dinner. Enjoyed hot tub a couple evenings under moon surrounded by beautiful vegetation. The week on this side of island with rental Jeep was most enjoyable….trips up coast to Kualoa Ranch and all the way to Pipeline on North Shore. Sunshine Suite was perfect.

Loved being so close to Kailua Beach Park. Such a lovely beach. The Sunshine Suite overlooks a quiet courtyard with beautiful swimming pool. So peaceful. 1/2 hour walk into town or take the 671 bus 5-10 minutes. Steve’s a friendly host with lots of local advice. Would love to stay here again.

We rented the Sunshine Suite as our vacation base for a week as we explored all over Oahu. The location cannot be beat - easy access to Kailua Beach at the park across the street and we walked another maybe ten minutes down to Lanikai beach one day -- both fantastic. The pool was very nice and clean and we enjoyed being able to have a few meals in the suite or at the pool instead of eating out all the time. Zack was easy to deal with in setting up the stay and all was as we hoped. In short, we had a no hassle stay in a great and clean spot and would do it again. Excellent all around!!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Great, quiet location that is removed from the hustle and bustle of Oahu, but still just a short drive to the major hubs. Beautiful beach right across the street.
We knew we had an efficiency and only planned to cook breakfast quick while eating out for our other meals. We didn't really think the 1 sink situation would be troublesome, but when you're washing dishes in the bathroom and the ants follow, that is a little frustrating. Not a reason to deter us from staying here again, we just probably won't prepare food in house. Sharing as this is something for others to consider when choosing a rental.

Very laid back. If you're looking for fancy, look elsewhere. If you're looking for location it's perfect. Very tight parking. Needs tv trays in the room as there was no place to really eat. Also needs a motion light on the stairs. We had an early flight and almost tripped down the stairs it was so dark. Overall we enjoyed our stay because it was exactly what we were looking for

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property. We utilized beach chairs to sit on the gorgeous beach every day for hours. We took the bikes into town for dinner most nights or walked the mile or so to the heart of town. Don't hesitate to book this wonderfully located property. This is a studio not a “one bedroom.” Only sink is the bathroom one. No tub or way to keep dishes and bathroom activities separate. Air conditioner is too loud to be used. Bathroom has no hooks. No way to hang wet towels or bathing suits. Ugliest possible artificial plants abound. The pool has a very small jacuzzi that only the owners know how to start. There is another unit posted as 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, no mention that the “2nd” bathroom s downstairs by the pool no relationship to the actual unit. It is directly across the street from the awesome Kailua beach. That is the saving grace.

I booked this place for a nice 2 weeks getaway. Great location right across the road from Kailua Beach Park. Cute quiet neighborhood next to Lanikai. So nice to wake up early and watch the sunrise over the water.
I agree some things could be updated a bit, but generally anything near the ocean usually doesn’t last as long. I always felt safe no matter the time. You do have to cross another rental’s balcony to get to your door, but I never had any issues. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. We were even greeted with what we learned was a gecko. Welcome to the tropics!
It was easy to email Zak with any questions and Steve & Suzie were always on site if you needed anything.
Parking can be a bit of a tight squeeze so a helpful tip is to rent a small car with a good back up camera to make it easy for yourself.

The property is a secret oasis tucked back from the road. You feel as if youʻve gone back in time to Old Hawaiʻi. The suites are beautifully maintained, bright and clean. A truly lovely location across the road from the beach!

We liked the Sunshine Suite so much, we booked a second trip to come back in November before we even left! Kailua is a tranquil beach town and our accommodations were cozy, clean, and quiet. The communal beach supplies were so convenient and saved us a lot of money and time. The property is nestled in under a canopy of tropical plants that make it feel like a private getaway. Steve and Susie were such friendly and generous hosts- we felt like family by the time we left. The proximity to the beach makes it perfect for easy access, and it’s close enough to the main drag for shopping and food without being stuck in the hustle and bustle. We can’t wait to come back!
