We had an awesome time walking all over the place! Our vacation was only five days so we selected this location so we wouldn't spend much time in the car and boy did it deliver! We could walk to the turtle bay resort in five minutes and the most delicious Mai Tai with ginger liquor at Roy's beach house! Our first morning we woke up at 4am because of the time change and were looking for somewhere to eat. We found a food truck 6 minutes by car that opened at 6am. It is called "Da bald guy" it was absolutely incredible! Have the fried poke. This place has up to an hour wait but a 6 am there we only two other people there. The condo is less than a 20 minute drive or less to virtually everything on the north shore. Bitsy is kind and a dream to work with. The condo itself was super clean. It is dated but what you see in the pics is exactly the way it is. We will absolutely return to this condo.Thank you for a great vacation!

My husband and I have been to the North Shore several times. This is our second stay at barefoot hideaway,and it is just that. It is perfect. Quiet neighborhood setting, private and peaceful, the perfect location for anything you want to do on the North Shore, or beyond. It is clean, comfortable and has everything you need. Kitchen well equipped, beach toys and boogie boards. Perfect lanai. Property manager very responsive and helpful - couldn’t be nicer. Check in and out super easy. We felt we were at our own home away from home, barefoot and hidden away. Best Hawaii visit yet. We look forward to hopefully returning to this slice of Paradise.

My sister and I each rented a condo in Kuilima estates and were very close to each other . The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked some great meals in the condo. There were beach chairs and other equipment available and bed was comfortable. We loved the quiet location and walked to the beach with our coffee for sunrise and to Turtle bay for drinks at sunset. Great visit. We will come here again.The pool was nice also.

Very nice place, good location, very well equipped with beach chairs. We enjoyed our walks to the beach through the golf course. Nice easy drive to the best beaches and food stalls with gorgeous Hawaiian shrimps.

The listing was accurate and the owner seemed very nice. The bed is comfy, the place has everything you could possibly need. My daughter loved the beach toys and the umbrella was a life saver. The WiFi was good. The washer and dryer worked great too! It was a super relaxing trip! Thank you!

This may not be the most updated unit, but they have made sure it has everything you need for a comfortable stay! Well stocked kitchen with updated appliances, beach items, patio seating for 4, AC units in bedroom and living room, streaming TV; the list of thoughtful touches goes on. We stayed for 11 days and never thought “oh, this unit should have this!” It was quiet and very well located for a quick walk to beaches, restaurants and hiking trails.

The property was perfect for what we were looking for. We rented a car to come up to the north shore and everything we needed, beaches, food, etc was within a 10 min drive. The property itself was clean and tidy with very clear and easy entry directions sent by the property manager. The two bathrooms was a definite plus when you showering off after the beach. The property backs onto a golf course which is peaceful and beautiful to look at. Thanks for the great stay!

Loved the condo, very clean. Small tiny ants looking for food, where the coffee pot is. The Jalousie window to the right should be covered for privacy, we used a beach towel to cover it. The parking is less to be desired, but nothing can be done, it is what it is. But, the condo is nice and quiet, not too much noise from the other tenants. I feel safe here than all the traffic in Waikiki.

Bitsy’s condo was perfect for our stay on the north shore. It was clean and comfortable and check in was very easy. I enjoyed having breakfast on the patio outside and made friends with the birds. A quick walk to the other side of the golf course and through the trees and you’re on a beautiful beach. Condo was within 10 minutes of Teds bakery, food trucks and a grocery store. There are many places to park alongside the main road to the north shore to hit up a beach. You must go to Waimea valley! It was a favorite of ours. Do the free botanical tour at 12:30.

The check in process was easy. I liked that it was very close to the beach and a couple of bar and grill restaurants. I stayed with my in-laws, and brought my 5 year daughter with me. I let my in-laws sleep in the bedroom and my daughter and I slept on the pull out couch. The pull out couch was very uncomfortable and the property manager Betsy did what she could and brought us futons to put under the mattress. That did help a little bit, but it was still uncomfortable. I would not consider the use of the pull out bed if you are planning on renting the condo. On the other hand, I think that condo is perfect for a couple. I had read in one of the reviews from October and I do remember somebody saying the couch pull out mattress is uncomfortable. I can verify that. Other than that I cannot complain about anything, it was nice, the neighbors were quiet and respectful, and the property manager was responsive.

The property was great and the listing was accurate. Had a little trouble with the wifi but it was fixed quickly. Wasnt crazy about the process to get the gate access keyfob, but I do understand why it has to be that way. Overall we had a great stay and would stay again.

My husband and I love the North Shore of Oahu and our recent trip here was the best ever. This condo was perfect for us. It’s very comfortable and a great place to come home to after North Shore adventures. The location is great for whatever you want to do. All Turtle Bay beaches, trails and restaurants are a short walk. Kahuku and Laie are right around the corner. You can drive to Haleiwa and West end, and all the beaches and food in between, in 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic,. The condo is clean and the breeze flows through nicely. We rarely used air conditioners other than at night in the bedroom. There are ceiling fans in living room and bedroom. Kitchen is well stocked. Nice appliances. Bed and sheets very comfortable. Very quiet location. Lanai lovely day and night. Bitsy was quick to respond and helpful the couple times I had quick questions. Check in and out was super easy. We highly recommend this condo. Would definitely stay here again.

Kawela Bay was the perfect getaway for our family! The location was absolutely the best! We took a short walk to the barn stables and made our way to the turtle bay beach. We saw at least a dozen sea turtles. There are also several hidden beaches with tide pools within walking distance. The condo was clean, well kept and had everything we needed. We really appreciated all the extras that were included with the rental. Like body boards, beach towels and chairs etc. We also took a dip in the pool which was really refreshing. There are food stops just down the road with amazing Hawaiian Food. Staying at Kawela Bay is your one stop shop for your true Family Hawaiian Experience. Bitsy was also great at responding to messages timely! We will stay here again!

It was our first time to the islands and we had such a fantastic time staying at this condo! Bitsy was very on the ball, and easily reachable for anything that came up (which was not much). Check in was smooth even with late night arrival. The condo was perfect, large enough to accommodate a family of 4 easily and amazing location. Loved having the Turtle Bay resort within walking distance. Met many families in the complex who were friendly. Definitely will be coming back, thanks for making our first trip to Oahu memorable!

The location right on the 18th hole of the golf course (currently unused but maintained) was the perfect view for reflection, a bit of morning yoga and bright sunlight. Bitsy was very helpful about check in/check out (provided me utmost privacy), the facilities in the apartment were thorough and well appointed. Having two bathrooms was really nice and the sofa bed and bed in the main bedroom was absolutely comfortable. My daughter and I slept very well every night. The location is very secure and and I felt very safe at night and walking to and from the hotel in the evening. The ocean is just 10 minutes walk away and I was able to enjoy a dip every morning. I felt that the vents in the apartment needed a bit more attention and the fans, etc., seemed a bit dusty. There was also a hole in the screen door that I worried bugs would find inviting. Otherwise, this is a retro gem on Oahu's glorious north shore and I cant recommend this place or Bitsy more.

This condo was very much a mixed bag. On the positive side, the location on the north shore and the condo complex are both great. The pool was very nice, we had a nice view from our patio, all the kitchen appliances were relatively new and high quality and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. On the negative side, most everything else inside the condo was old and worn and in need of replacement. The living room sofa was old and uncomfortable, the bed creaked and ;made other noises at the slightest movement, the shower curtain looked ancient, the bathroom light fixtures and mirrors were old and chipped all around the edges, the king bed had a queen blanket that wasn't quite wide enough, and the television didn't work the first four days. The owner did install a brand new TV and refunded one night of our seven night stay, which was a satisfactory outcome, but still we would rather had the TV from the outside. With a small to moderate investment in furnishings and updates, this condo could be a five star property.

Our family returned to the property for our Hawaii summer vacation. We love this northern portion of Oahu. The location is gorgeous and relatively close to all the best beaches: Hukilau, Sunset, Pipeline, Waimea, and Haleiwa. The property is clean, has all the amenities for a relaxing and fun getaway, and located on the edge of the Turtle Bay Resort. Our stay at this property is truly essential to the wonderful memories my family will always cherish. Thank you!

This was our third stay at this condo and we would for sure stay again. It is a bottom floor unit with two bathrooms which is very comfortable, well equipped, and has a great location! Turtle Bay is our favorite location on Oahu. I would highly recommend it.

The unit is older but in good shape. The only thing wrong was the most important thing in the unit! (The Bed) This bed was wore out at least 2 years before we got there and the manager suggested we use the blowup air mattress on the floor! After a failed search for a new place my wife tried to sleep across the foot of the bed "in the least wore out spot" and I slept on the twin air mattress on top of the crappy hid- a-bed couch. Needless to say this was not the romantic stay we planned. Get in writing that the bed has been changed before you book the place! Even hotels change the beds every 2 years to avoid these problems! Never again!

First the pros
It was nice to sit on the lanai in the shade overlooking the groomed golf course.
The bed was comfortable. The unit was roomy. Bitsy was quick to respond to maintenance/insect issues.
Now the cons
The unit could use a good cleaning and the walls/ceilings fixed and painted. The bathrooms could use upgrading. There was no place to BBQ/grill in the complex.

Perfect place for our family to staycation after more than a year of being cooped up at home. No smart TV = our boys unplugged for the week. No ice maker = daily ice cube tray refills. Analog cooktop with electric coils = visceral cooking experience. Clothes dryer that vents back into hallway = open the doors and let the cross breeze work its magic. This property may not be the prettiest or most refined, but she wears her age well. I feel like we got the most bang for our buck staying here.
Bonus: dealing with Bitsy is pain-free! Mahalo Bitsy!
