We loved this property. The units were amazing and the owners thought of everything. The Hanalei Bay Resort (HBR) is so beautiful. The views are majestical and could not get over it everywhere you look. The staff are great as well! Thank you for everything. We will be staying here again and will recommend to everyone we know!

Threat of reducing damage deposit: required shower before bed, towel placed on furniture before sitting down, wash feet before entry (though no get wash station at door.) Loved our stay the property is beautiful the condo was lovely. The only complaint is that in the VRBO listing it was NOT clearly mentioned about the resort daily fees and the parking fees. Which ended up being an extra 300 dollars.

I rarely write reviews and do not want to sound negative, but I want to mention a few things that I would have liked to of read prior to our visit..
Unit is generally nice, has pretty views and is very private. We met the cleaner just as it was getting ready for us to start our stay, about 20 minutes before 4:00. Unit seemed "quick-cleaned." It was mostly clean; the tile floors were dusty/crunchy in some common areas and really dirty under some of the furniture. The recliner chair in the front room was super dusty; we put a comforter over it during our stay. My daughter found a couple used Band-Aids in the roll out bed, not sure if they were left by previous guests on purpose but kinda gross.
The master bedroom mattress was very comfortable. The fitted sheet did not fit but the mattress was good quality. The fan in the only bathroom never worked. It was looked at and a "part" was ordered but it never functioned during our week. This made the bathroom essentially a closet.
The unit had chairs, boogie boards, and snorkel gear that we appreciated.
Some of the furniture in the unit, like the bedroom furniture, is light weight and just lower quality. I don't want to beat this place up, it's decent, but unlike places we have stayed in the past this unit appears to be a full time rental and not frequented by any owner. It's just a little banged up like rentals can get. I would recommend it in a pinch, it works, but for the money I would consider other options as well.

Condo was as described, no surprises. Floors were sticky, probably due to the cleaning products. Bathroom fan wasn't working, unfortunately. ACs in both rooms did a good job of cooling us off. Condo is well stocked and ready for you to cook if you desire. This end of the island is absolutely beautiful! The perfect first half of our 10 days on Kauai. Mahalo!!

Fabulous property with gorgeous vistas. Hanalei bay Beach was beautiful. Nice snorkeling and swimming. Room was very spacious and kitchen large and clean. Highly recommend and would come back here next time we come to Kauai. Loved it!!

This was our third time in this unit. It is in a quiet corner of the resort, very fairly priced, and the view is phenomenal. I had great communication with the property manager about a minor issue we had as well.

The condo was in the perfect location to have a beautiful view of Hanalei Bay. The grounds at Hanalei Bay Resort are lovely and the pool was very pretty. We thoroughly enjoyed the lanai and sat out each morning and evening after it cooled down. The provided beach chairs were a nice bonus as was the snorkels (but only 1 of the 3 snorkels had working valves) but the masks worked great. The condo has had some updates which were appreciated. It’s probably time to update the kitchen. We loved the North Shore of Kauai.

Overall, we loved the condo. The location is amazing and has gorgeous views from the patio over Hanalei bay.
The kitchen is a little outdated and needs some extra cleaning as well as the patio - the floor and the furniture was very dirty but was promptly taken care of the next day after we addressed the issue.

This apartment is lovely and very comfortable and the view is absolutely incredible. The property is lovely too, but this is a resort with literally no amenities. No bar or restaurant at the pool- no breakfast service and only one restaurant that is open 3 - 9 but always has an hour wait. However, there are several cute places nearby. Be sure to rent a car. Island is gorgeous!!

It's exactly what we wanted. A spacious, well-cared for space to relax in and go on adventures from. It's what's advertised. Hanalei Bay Resort is beautiful - a little hilly but they do have staff in golf carts ready to give you a lift. Don't miss the beach - it was a nice bonus that the apartment had ample equipment to enjoy playing in the sand and shoreline.

Hanalei Bay Resort is a beautiful location with spectacular grounds, a wonderful, fun pool and a killer view. But, condo 7202 could use an update. We have stayed there several times over the years and notice that the kitchen counters could use to be replaced as the grout between the tiles is dirty. Also, the carpet could use a good cleaning if not a replacement. The view from the lanai is one of the best but the furniture on the lanai is not the most comfortable and takes up most of the space. While the rooms are very clean, it is time for a fresh coat of paint and a general sprucing up of the rooms. I would highly recommend Hanalei Bay Resort. But I other than the view at 7202 (which is spectacular), I cannot give it a high rating.

The view is breathtaking and undoubtedly the best one on the resort. We had considered staying at the resort just south of this location, but I’m so glad we didn’t because the view and it’s location on the resort could not be beat! the resort and staff were lovely, warm, and kind! The location was perfect for exploring the North shore and Hanalei Bay. I hope to return many times in the future!

My husband and I just returned from 6 glorious nights in unit 7202 at HBR and we couldn't be happier. First of all, this unit is very large and we plan to return in the future with our teenage daughter to make us of all of that space. The lanai is wonderful and the view is even more beautiful than the picture can convey. We remarked that we could have had a wonderful trip if we had just at and stared at the view for 6 straight days. Everything in the unit was in working order (after a quick visit from a repair man to fix one AC unit) and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location of this particular unit is great because it is quite a ways from the center of the resort, so very peaceful. The resort is lovely and well maintaned and the staff is very accommodating. We made a couple of trips down to the beach, which has nice views and moderately good snorkeling, and is especially nice because of the convenience factor (parking at a lot of local beaches is hard to come by). We will definitely return to this little bit of Heaven as soon as we can!

We have been to the resort before and returned with my daughter so looking forward to the swim-in pooll bar. To our surprise this bar is apparently closed indefinitely, apparently due to some COVID rules. The condo has a huge living/dining room with a sleep sofa and a second pullout bed. The bedroom is also quite large. both rooms with huge windows overlooking the bay and mountains. Lovely. Downside of the layout is that the bathroom can only be accessed through the bedroom. So, while the place is certainly able to fit 4 persons easily, they should be comfortable with that setting. The kitchen is large and well equipped. Housekeeping: We stayed one week and never saw housekeeping, not sure what their schedule was. While the place was generally very clean, we found some lingerie behind the dresser in the bedroom.

We enjoyed staying at the Hanalei Bay Resort and felt so lucky that we had such a fantastic view. It was quite roomy and enough for 4 adults to stay comfortably. The beach is beautiful with view of Hanalei Bay. It is easily accessible by foot as well as Hanalei Bay Resort accommodates folks with mobility issues by giving guests rides in golf carts which are readily available to either the beach or pool and bar areas. We also took advantage of the outdoor grill and kitchen which was awesome.

It’s a huge unit, one would never guess that’s it’s only a one bedroom. Incredible views, quiet, and an overall fantastic location. Can stroll down to the beach in less than 10 min. The condo has a well equipped kitchen and some gear to take down to the beach. We had a fantastic time. Thanks guys!

My main 2 reasons for renting this unit: the views and air conditioning. The views were AMAZING. The A/C was pretty good although the main room is large and hard to cool. The resort is beautiful. We enjoyed the pool with bar and the restaurant was decent. Be aware that walk back up to the resort and parking is really steep! You can ask for the resort golf cart to come get you but who wants to do that every time. The condo is a bit musty smelling but that’s fairly common in Hawaii. When I tried to email the management before coming, I never got responses. All in all, I think it can be a great place as long as you know what you’re in for.

Beautiful awe inspiring view of Hanalei Bay, world class swimming pool, comfortable bed, and roosters crowing in the morning. Long walk from parking area to condo. Condo unit was dirty had a foul odor, and was in disrepair; floors were filthy, cushions were stained, kitchen cabinets had water damage, and kitchen ceiling had a large water leak stain. A/C units took several days to settle out at a proper temperature. We have stayed in many other shared homes and hotels - this one was a poor choice.

Let me start off by saying that the views from the lanai and the resort's beach are absolutely breathtaking! However, the overall quality of the condo did not match what we expected by the nightly cost and the pictures posted on the listing.
The condo itself is located in the building furthest from the parking lot which we were aware of prior. The resort has golf carts driven by their bellhops who will pick up and drop off wherever you need. Without the golf cart, it was about a 5 minute walk to the parking lot so not terrible but does have some hills. The walk to the beach was longer and much steeper, so we would walk to the beach and catch a ride back.
Our biggest complaint about the condo was its cleanliness and the communication with the host, Kristen Greene/Vacation Realty Hawaii. The morning after our arrival, we emailed Vacation Realty Hawaii using the email address that was posted on the fridge which said to email them if there were any issues. In our email, we detailed the issues we had with the cleanliness of the condo and even included pictures. While this was sent on a Sunday, we didn't hear anything back from them until AFTER we checked out on Wednesday when they refunded us $150 of the $200 cleaning fee. So while it was a nice reimbursement, we were very frustrated with the lack of communication when we voiced our disappointment.
As for the cleanliness issues, there were cobwebs on the lamps and in the corners of the sliding glass doors. An old pacifier and chapstick were under the bed and a used earplug in the bathroom vanity drawer. The box fan in the closet was caked in dust. In the kitchen, there was a huge grease stain on the ceiling above the stove and grease on the upper cabinet. Bits of food were in the crack between the stove and countertop as well as dried sauces still on the countertop. There were spills on the wall that hadn't been cleaned up and the floors (both tile and carpet) looked and felt like they needed a good cleaning.
Overall, the condo is in need of a deep cleaning. The walls are also pretty marked up also, but we understand that this can happen with older rentals. If it hadn't been for the wonderful views, beach, and resort pool, we would not have even given this a 3 star review. It's unfortunate that we finished our 11 night visit on the beautiful island of Kauai with 4 nights at this condo. The whole time we wished we could have gone back to the first place we had stayed at during our trip.

If you're looking for a great price to match the spacious AC conditioned condo, then this resort is for you.
Beautiful ocean and mountain views to enjoy from your personal lanai. It's so quite that at times you can hear the ocean waves from the beach at night! The resort is quite and adult friendly. You may see a few children here or there, but it definetly felt like the saying "seen and not heard."
The resort amenities were great. The staff around the swimming pool encouraged guests to bring their own alcohol beverages in plastic cups. The pools had a handful of waterfalls to swim under and after can relax in the hammock or lounge chairs to suntan. The tennis courts were an added bonus, along with the evening sunsets by the fire pit and tiki torches.
On the property, there is 24 hr front desk service to pick you up via golf cart to whatever destination you need on site. You'll need this service when you use the resorts personal beach. Unless you like a brisk walk downhill under amazing jungle-like tree branches.
This resort is the oldest standing resort in Princeville since the hurricane in 1992 (because of highest elevation). The property has original tropical tree (banana, lime trees, etc). Absolutely stunning! The room came additonally equipped with boogie boards, cooler, beach umbrella, tennis equipment, and beach toys for kids. Not all rooms have this, but we really appreciated it because we could make our food from home and take it with us on the road! Tip: Shop at costco for bulk items and you'll be set!
It lacks one star, because nothing can ever be perfect at any resort:p
