First, let's cut to the chase and just say that the property staff was very nice and all the people we interacted with were friendly. Also, this property has a truly AWESOME view right on the water and you can enjoy morning coffee or afternoon wine with the whales and turtles, as you are right on top of the water. It has close proximity to conveniences and North Maui beaches, which are brilliant. The evening blowing of the conch shells was really corny, but also cute and fun. If this is all you care about for your stay then this place is great. You could do a lot worse!
The condo itself was clean, but I don't think the recent renovation is a success. The main floor shower didn't work, which was a big inconvenience but all we got was a tepid "apology" from management. The main floor bedroom was LOUD (local roosters and street traffic). The kitchen was poorly appointed (e.g. very incomplete silverware set, a very old/cheap, and profoundly dull set of kitchen knives, etc, etc). The lanai shades that protect from afternoon sun were broken. In short, this property needs a few minor repairs and some updated kitchen equipment, but I honestly don't think the owners care. It's understandable that some things break from time to time, but when so many little things that are so easy to resolve don't get taken care of, that feels almost insulting. We didn't hate this property, but it definitely wasn't our favorite.

The condo is in a great location, within 10 mins of multiple restaurants and a handful of world class beaches! The beds were comfortable enough, and the views cannot be beat! Upgraded bathrooms and kitchen are nice. Furniture and décor is dated, but in decent condition. It does get hot in the afternoon, but a strong breeze blows through and I think it would only be a problem during the summer months. If you plan a long stay you will need to pay to wash your towels in the coin laundry and make sure to buy some toilet paper at the ABC store a few minutes down the road. Kids loved the pool and we saw turtles diving and munching on seaweed from our Lanai multiple times each day! We'd definitely return to the Kulukane!

The property management company was outstanding. They were responsive and thoughtful, addressing several small things quickly. Definitely the right company with wonderful customer service.
We enjoyed the great location, close enough to walk to one of our favorite small beaches. Also walking distance to stores and food trucks.
Coming out of Covid I imagine people are clamoring to travel. This place is likely a great revenue stream. It’s unfortunate that not more love and care has been given to the unit. So much potential, with so little investment.
Furniture is well worn. We had exactly 4 forks for 4 of us. None of the Tupperware matched. Knife block missing pieces including scissors. Stairwell title broken. Rattling standing fan. Games available missing most pieces. I could go on but I’m hopeful the pattern is obvious.
Would be nice if some of the, not inexpensive rental fee, was used to add some improvements to the unit. Could be a great place since it has a lot of pluses like location and view. Also incredibly hard to close windows, extremely noisy in the morning as motorcycles buzzed by and garbage trucks rattled at a very early time.

Overall the condo was a nice place to stay and we could sit on the lanai and watch whales and some turtles. That was a cool experience. There is an AC upstairs that worked the first night and blew cold air but the rest of the week it only blew room temperature air so we ended up not using it. We’re assuming it needed some coolant or something. The biggest issue we had was as a family of 4, only one person could get a full 5-10 minute shower in with warm water. Everyone else either had cold showers or had to wait a while for the water to heat back up.

Great view from deck, very comfy king bed, big bedroom well furnished, easy parking.
Kitchen fridge doors and cabinets are crooked and can get caught. Very limited selection of silverware and dishes, requiring a lot of hand washing even with the presence of a dishwasher.

This property was oceanfront and i mean 100ft from the ocean!! The condo is very nice with everything we needed for a week long stay with 6 people. There is no AC downstairs which i can imagine in summertime is not fun since its on the top level (3rd & 4th floor) and the master bed was very very squeaky which made it hard to sleep. The location is prime! The neighbors is so cute with lots of shops and food within walking distance. Overall it was amazing and would definitely recommend or stay again.

We stayed here in September/October of 2022, so the pool area was still under construction. We knew this going in, but I include this just to say that I cannot review the outside area beyond noting that the construction noise and hours were very reasonable, and that at no time did the construction impede our access to the water on that side of the property.
Check in was easy, the unit was spotless and, I mean, it speaks for itself, but walking into that gorgeous view through those big windows never got old. Kitchen was well appointed. I never heard neighbors, so that was great. This place is in a great location and very close to anything worth doing on that part of the island. I suggest the 5 minute walk south to the beach park! And the water pressure was so good I knew I had to note it in my review. I got home and my own shower felt so pathetic in comparison.
Room for improvement:
-provided beach chairs were appreciated, but *very well loved*. It might be time to replace them.
-the lanai had roll down shades that did not roll down. It would have been nice if we were able to use those in the latter part of the day.
-not all of the glass slats in the windows were secure, several nearly fell out when we opened the windows.
But really, before we left I was already looking up future days to come back to stay here again. Great experience!! I can't wait to come back.

This great experience was almost ruined by management answers when we asked for help with heat problem. They told us that is our fault renting this place because they did not advertise AC - and that was all they had to say. Hawaii probably doesn’t require AC throughout the year, but in August heat index reaches 100F so imagine how it feels in a condo facing west. Overall, the bigger issue was how they handled or better say didn’t handle our complaint, very pretentious and rude.

We were very disappointed to find out there was not an elevator to get to our 3rd floor unit, and we had much luggage to carry up. Our first impression of the unit was that it was clean and had a beautiful water view. There were numerous deficiencies throughout the unit. The broken silverware drawer & broken chair in the upstairs bedroom were promptly fixed.
The screen blind on lanai broke, which obstructed our view, could not be fixed nor taken down at our request. The safe was locked and maintenance could not fix it. Both ceiling fans in bedrooms were broken: speed could not be adjusted and lights could not be turned on. The upstairs bedroom was still hot despite the small AC unit and fan. The knobs on the stove top were very easily turned on by leaning over the stove to get paper towels, etc, which could possibly cause a fire or burns from the hot stovetop. Smoke detector in the upstairs bedroom was missing. Both bedroom closets where filled with paint, ladders, etc and therefore we only had a small space to hang our clothes. Because of all this I believe an adjustment in our rent should be made.
