The Aloha House: The oceanfront Aloha House property sits spectacularly oceanfront on the pristine Puna Coast in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision just south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home offers the vacationer an up close and personal ocean experience! You can't get much closer to the ocean without being in it! It lulls you to sleep at night and the sunrises are so incredibly awesome - you will want to get up early even if you are on vacation! In the winter months, you can hear and see the whales that come in quite close because the ocean is deep in front of the property. This is a great spot to catch fish from the bluff and cook right on the barbecue!

Decorated island style with rattan furnishings and overhead ceiling fans in all the rooms, the home stays very comfortable all year! Sometimes you might even need a sweatshirt in the winter months! This home is centrally located and it is just a short drive to Hilo area with many restaurants, shops, markets, large grocery and retail stores and Hilo International Airport. The location is superb for the traveler wanting to experience the ultimate Big Island adventure. The oceanfront lanai is the place you will probably want to hang out after your day trips!

The kitchen is fully equipped with all your dining needs. All linens are provided, along with laundry detergent (you won't have time for that though!) There is also an outdoor hot shower to rinse off after surfing, swimming, snorkeling, or hiking the volcano. We provide a cooler for your day outings too! There is also fishing and bbq equipment.

The cottage on the property is currently reserved for the owners.

The house is completely private. There is no part of the home or facilities shared except for the laundry room. As owners, when on island, we respect the privacy of our guests wholeheartedly and want our guests to feel totally free to be themselves. In fact we and our guests usually don't see much of each other due to everyone's busy schedules. Occasionally guests will invite us for some wine or just knock on the door to say hi and we love that, but never initiate conversation or bend the ears of our guests. It's your vacation! :)

Activities:: From the oceanfront lanai you can sun bathe, dine and watch the sea turtles, dolphins and whales frolic. Explore the coastline tide pools or fish off the bluff. A short distance from black sand beaches, hot ponds, waterfalls, golf, kayaking, Volcano National Park, shops and restaurants. Swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, snorkeling, or drive through the middle of the island on Saddle Rd to get to the west side of the island for some gorgeous white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters! Shopping, banking, medical facilities, restaurants, etc. in nearby quaint Pahoa Town as well as Hilo. Have the best of both worlds: peace and serenity combined with as much activity as you feel like! Olympic size swimming pool in Pahoa (free!), fine restaurants in Hilo, Pahoa, & Keaau! Be sure to catch the Maku'u farmers market on Sunday mornings, or the Hilo farmer's market every day but biggest day for it is on Saturday!  Uncle Robert's' In Kalapana is a fun way to have dinner and experience the locals having a blast listening to music and shopping on Wednesday evenings. There is a full bar and many desserts too! It is located at the end of the 'Red Road,' Highway 137 in Kalapana. We find it's better than a luau with wonderful Hawaiian musicians, arts, crafts, many local food vendors. This is a must on your list of things to do in East

What’s there not to like about this beautiful place! Shari was very responsive to inquiries. Check in was easy. The house was absolutely lovely and CLEAN! We usually stay in hotels when we travel but wanted our own space for this short trip to spend Thanksgiving with our small family of 4. We were worried about the cleanliness, but as soon as we entered the home, we were reassured as everything was so clean - the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook a delicious Thanksgiving meal and breakfast for all 3 days. Nothing beats the view here with the ocean literally right next to you. The sounds of the waves hitting the lava cliffs were so soothing. The jacuzzi was such a treat, and we enjoyed it everyday. We saw so many turtles while sitting in the patio eating our breakfast. www had planned to do some activities in Hilo and Volcano but ended up canceling some plans just to be with each other in the home. Thank you Shari and Rob for sharing your beautiful and well-kept home with us. We look forward to returning one day soon. What a magical place!!

We were 2nd time guests enjoying the absolute stunning location of the house. Also the host Shari is excellent in her communication.

Great location! Too short of a stay, wish we could have been able to plan a longer trip. Went to Hilo for my sons paddle race, his team placed 7th in the state! Can’t wait to come back.

On a sunny day, the crashing waves along the lava shelf/cliff coast is absolutely gorgeous! The sunrise and sea turtles added to the beauty. The house is a bit worn by it’s location to the sea, but it’s clean. Gas, a general store and a great new restaurant (Kaleo’s Bar and Grill) are 10 minutes away on Orchid Land Drive. Bring drinking water because the house uses a water catch system (host recommendation). Enjoy your stay!

This was a lovely home base for exploring the east side of the Big Island. Most activities we did were an easy 30-40 minute drive away. It was lovely to have such a gem of place to call home for 5 nights. Sunrise over the ocean, the sound and sights of crashing surf on the rocks, a hot tub soak at the end (or start!) of the day, plenty of space to spread out, a well-stocked kitchen, all with an unparalleled view. Yes, paradise indeed!

The house was fine. It appeared the house is going through a much needed renovation, but it did not interfere with a great vacation. The views of the ocean and splashing water on the cliffs were fabulous!

Prior to check in the hostess did not inform us of our check in procedures prior to the 4pm check in time, leaving us outside of the house in the rain. We had no instructions until I made multiple calls after 5pm, in which the hostess finally returned our call. The unit felt unsafe and dirty. You could see right into the bedroom and bathrooms windows. The outdoor blinds provided in the bedrooms were transparent and provided no privacy for changing. I had to shower and put my clothes on with the bathroom lights off in the dark to ensure the neighbors would not see me. The bedroom doors are louvered closet doors, that you could see in and hear everything through. The guest tub and shower is outdated and dirty. The shower head and faucet were rusty and curroded. The shower curtain was moldy and the towels felt unclean. The floors were dirty, we needed to purchase slippers to walk anround the house, and there were many broken fixtures (master closet door, etc).

This place is all about the location. The views are better than I expected. We loved the privacy, and being able to sit outside to eat and watch the waves crash into the rocks. The only downside was that the house was musty smelling inside and felt damp, especially the master beadroom.

We wanted a location that would allow us to operate at our own pace to visit Volcanos NP and relax and spend time with our sons. Watching the sunrise from the hot tub was a highlight. I appreciated the proximity to Hilo and Volcanos NP. Hawaiian Paradise Park was clean, spacious and had all the amenities I needed to cook delicious meals to enjoy with all of us together. Thank you for a rejuvenating and relaxing experience.

Perfect place to get away on the Puna Coast. The location is absolutely breathtaking, and soaking it all in from the hot tub in the lanai was perfection. The master bathroom has been beautifully renovated, and master looks over the ocean with amazing sunrise views. The house is only minutes from the old Puna trail, that takes you 3 miles to Shipman beach. With the proper gear, it was a magical hike through the jungle, to paradise. We had a very Merry Big Island Christmas, and would absolutely return! Thank you Shari and Rob!

The house was so wonderful we had an amazing time on Hilo! The house has a beautiful shower overlooking the garden and I could just sit in the porch or jacuzzi for hours looking at the waves ! Would definitely come back !

This was an amazing place to stay! Communication with the owner was outstanding and she was really great to work with. I rented this place 2 years ago and then covid hit and she refunded everything easily and communicated the whole way. Then 2 years later we were able to finally get to the Big Island and this place made our stay. The location is amazing and has a nice combination of being away from the crowded areas but close enough that it was just a 40 minute drive to the National Park and plenty of other things to do. The view is amazing. Would definitely rent here again. Thanks.

The location of this home is amazing, right on the lava rocks with crashing waves right outside the door. Incredible sunrises from the hot tub/patio/living area and a really wonderful place to relax in! The house has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms which made it a great space for our family of four plus grandparents and we had a wonderful stay. The garden/outdoor area has lizards for kids to find, beautiful flowers and plants and a nice seating area along with the hot-tub. We also appreciated the full kitchen and laundry as traveling with kids makes those features very much appreciated! As some reviews note, the house is weathered from the location right on the ocean and it was helpful to know what to expect but the space is clean and comfortable and we completely understood the effects of the salt air. The fans and open windows allow the evening cooler air to ensure the place stays comfortable overnight. The location is a little bit of a pleasant drive away from the main roads and we did end up going to the beaches near Hilo or on adventures most days, but if you wanted to spend a few days just relaxing with your own food/cooking, this would be a really excellent quiet spot. We ended up in some traffic out of Hilo on a few afternoons/evenings so the drive ended up going a bit longer. Nearby: do not miss the drive on Government Beach Road - incredible! A visit to the Bananarama Bakery in Pahoa was a highlight and of course, as mentioned, the beaches near Hilo - Carlsmith, Richardson and Onekahakaha were really fun - turtles, snorkeling and such beautiful landscapes. Also farmers market in Hilo and especially the shave ice across the street at Kula Shave Ice. We LOVED our visit to the area and hope we will get to return some day!

We had a wonderful stay. Owners were helpful and friendly. The main event was that gorgeous view of the coast and crashing waves. House needs some updates but it appears that the owners are in the process of updating interiors. I would definitely stay again.

I wish we'd had more time in this wonderful place! The location of this house alone recommends it but there was much more. The kitchen was well equipped, there is a large and comfortable living room and dining area. There's also a beautiful master suite that overlooks the ocean and two additional comfortable bedrooms that share a bath. The deck sports a hot tub with convenient tables and chairs and views that are breathtaking. The owner Shari was lovely to deal with and responded to all texts in a timely fashion. This is a perfect location to relax and enjoy the sounds and sights of the ocean. Highly recommended!

This house was exactly as described, the views from the back porch of the house are stunning and are exactly as they are in the photos which are almost too beautiful to believe. Check in process was super easy and good communication with the property owner. We would definitely stay here again. Saw turtles and whales from the back porch.

The house was a little dated but the location right on the ocean was amazing. My wife, kids and grandson loved it. We would sit out on the lava rocks and watch the ocean waves break right below us. Wow.

The house was perfect for us. We came to see whales and we did 4 of the 7 days we were there. We also went on a hike just a mile and a half from the house and saw sea turtles. The house was clean with comfortable furniture. We cooked all our meals in a fairly well stocked kitchen. There are no restaurants close but the view is so awesome it was more fun to eat there anyway. It was great hearing the pounding surf. We loved our stay.

We had such a wonderful stay at Shari and Robby's beach home in Hilo, Hawaii! Very peaceful and the ocean views were stunning. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and we went to sleep to the sound of crashing waves and frog songs every night. Shari and Robby provided literally everything we needed. The house was in a great location to Volcanoes National Park and other sights around Hilo. Highly recommend!

The house was right on top of the ocean and you could hear the waves crashing on the rocks. The house was clean but it needed a paint job on both inside and outside the house. Also the refrigerator was rusted on the door which made the house feel dirty.

The Aloha House was a great place. We were only able to stay one night but enjoyed the afternoon and morning we were there! True to what I imagined, the house was a great place to stay on the Hilo/Pahoa side of the Big Island! Thank you to Shari and Robbie. Although the touristy-parts of the Big Island aren't too bad, it was nice to get-away for a night and have the feeling of staying the night at a friend's place in a quaint and real neighborhood in Hawaii. The Ocean waves crashing into the rocks and the jungly terrain that surrounds the house were amazing. The house was homey and inviting (not the cold, museum-feeling, modern home that everyone is building these days!) We will never forget our stay at the Aloha House. :) Thanks again!

Beautiful sunrises at this oceanfront property with amazing oceanside hot tub! Super clean and comfortable! As with most oceanfront properties in Hawaii there will be staining, rust, and the possibility of bugs(if you leave food even in the trash). This overall value of this property is great and we had an amazing stay!

We got there after dark. Good thing we had navigation. As soon as we opened the car doors we heard the.sound of waves. Walked around the area but didn't venture to far from the patio as it was dark. You could feel the spray.from the ocean on the patio. Words can't describe the view. If we ever come back this is one place I will stay again. Thanks for sharing your home with us. ,Sharry.
