Our stay was good, overall. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped to make family meals. The pool was perfect in every way. When we arrived, there was hair on the bottom of the fridge and a spill of something red and pungent (chili dauce?) in one of the drawers. There was also a lot of debris in the back of the fridge. Also found a warm, but sealed Tillamok cheese stick on the floor. There was also a lots of dust on the knife block, so I wasn't too confident that it was well cleaned. I ended up cleaning the fridge, but the smell was persistent. There were plenty of fans to keep us comfortable. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Things we did not like: the towels were so old/worn it felt like sandpaper on your skin. They definitely need to be replaced. The cleanliness was questionable-- we washed everything before we used it. And, the family room couch was so well used it was uncomfortable, so my family sat outside or in our rooms. Would we stay there again? Probably not for our family because it was far from activities, but it would be the perfect place for a quiet getaway for couples or families to relax. The property was gorgeous and my son loved the hiking trail close by.

This is a perfect location being a most beautiful and accommodating property! I will stay here again for sure! Thanks for the tip about Kaloli Point! Absolutely stunning! I like loved all the rain forests sound and crashing waves that sang me right to sleep every night!! The pool was amazing! What a great place to call home on vacation! The perfect combination of weather offers a taste of the entire Island!❤️💕❤️

This property was perfect for our family! The house was clean, organized and well laid-out for us to enjoy full days at home or come back from a day of adventures and have all the equipment needed to make dinner and enjoy a restful evening by the pool, tv or with a board game.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Maureen. Communication was clear, timely and just enough to make sure we had what we needed and know where to go if we didn't. The check-in/out and property instructions were easy to follow and not burdensome.
If you're considering a vacation on the Hilo side of the Big Island and you're a couple or family that wants to be close to the shore with many outdoor adventures, in a home with a pool that's well laid out and properly appointed - this is the one for you. If your dates are available - snap them up, cause they'll go quick.

My wife and I and her two adult daughters stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property is just beautiful and well cared for as though the owners lived there. The house was large and more than enough for the four of us and the pool was really nice. It has everything we needed and more. It is secluded with privacy and in a great neighborhood. Less than half a mile north is the trailhead for Puna trail, in the top five for best hiking trails on the big island. It ends at Hae’na beach, a nice sandy beach where we saw 17 turtles sunning. A mile north on Beach road is a bluff where you can watch the sunrise. Kaleo’s is a great restaurant and bar 5.5 miles away. The owner had very clear instructions and communicated promptly. I highly recommend this house for a great vacation in the Hilo area and would stay here again. Five stars, thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There were a few minor items when we checked in, but the host was able to get them resolved quickly. The location is great if you're spending time on the Hilo side of the island. The house comes stocked with pretty much everything you need for your stay. The kids loved the pool after some long days exploring. Would definitely look up this place again if we decided to stay on this side of the island again.

First of all, the almost immediate responses from the owner, Maureen, were impressive. The few times we needed to communicate over 10 days, she responded very quickly when not immediately.
Second, the photos do not do justice to the home and, most of all, the pool. That pool made out granddaughter’s vacation: clean, warm, bigger that you would think. The outside shower was a treat.
For the few people who felt this was too far or isolated from Hilo, maybe you should look up a property on Apple Maps or Google Maps; it could not be any clearer. It was less than 30 minutes from downtown Hilo, and we loved the peace and quiet.
This STR has changed how our family will select a place in the future. If we return to the Big Island, we will adjust dates just to rent this place again.

Beautiful lush tropical yard, gorgeous clean pool, comfy master bed, and lounge chairs that are genuinely comfortable! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and immediately felt at home there. We spent the majority of 3 days hanging out in the back yard! I absolutely would have taken the backyard home with me if I could have!

We loved our stay in this house, in a quiet neighborhood. There is a beach overlook (no water access) 0.7 miles down the road. The pool was clean and fairly warm. The layout of the house was great, lots of space, large kitchen, laundry room, 2 car garage, water toys… Groceries r a 10min drive, Hilo is 20 min away. We hope to come back again.

Pictures do not do this property justice. From the moment you walk through the front door, you feel relaxed. The home has a great set up with the main living open to the kitchen and dining which makes a great social space. The lanai and pool area are also a great area to gather. There could be a few more lounge chairs but the table has enough seating for 6. We spent the majority of our time outdoors. We have already talked about returning!

Great property for families that like to swim. Pool is amazing, house is well equipped for cooking. Very quiet area and a great base for exploring the Hilo side of the island. We stayed here 7 years ago and will hopefully stay again in the future.

It was great to get away from the weather on the mainland and explore this beautiful island. The pool area was super private and well maintained, a nice covered lanai kept us dry when it rained. Once you use the outdoor shower, you will wonder why you don’t have one at home. Spacious and well equipped kitchen and a nicely organized home information book was well appreciated. Beds were comfortable with high quality sheets and pillows. The garage with remote opener and driveway gate were welcomed luxuries. The only minor complaint we could think of is some of the furniture is starting to show its age.

Unfortunately, our experience wasn't like the previous reviews. We found out at checkout that the Master bedroom pillows that we had been sleeping on during our entire stay had absolutely disgusting mold and/or bed bug feces all over both pillows after we removed the pillow sheets. We have pictures of everything and sent them to the owners. Their response was to blame of the housekeeper and said the pillows were clean. I wish I could show people how nasty these pillows look, it's too bad we can't share photos of these pillows. We were refunded 50% of our cleaning fee. I would not recommend anyone to stay here based on our experience at this property.

Beautiful and clean property. Perfect location for visiting Hilo, Volcano National Park, and the northeast side of the island. Wonderful coming back to the pool after long days full of adventures. Despite not having a/c, very comfortable sleeping at night with windows open and ceiling fans. Would definitely stay here again.

This home was ideal for our family vacation. It is in a quiet neighborhood with a pool. The doors are wide enough for my son’s wheelchair to get through, which is hard to find! We loved the private backyard. The house is very clean and beautiful. The owner was very helpful and responded quickly to any inquiries. We loved it in every way!

The house and pool were immaculate. We thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay. We were traveling with two teenage grandsons who enjoyed the pool. They also liked having a fire pit to fix s'mores. The house was in beautiful quiet neighborhood with easy access to highways for adventures to Hilo, Volcano Park and other locations. Would definitely recommend.

The attention to detail was incredible. The BBQ was a piece of art.We loved the location and got to see the volcano. Pahoa Town was very ecclectic, and had great restaurants. Swimming at night with the stars all around was incredible. See you next year.

Thank you so much, we had a great time and followed your advice on snorkeling spots and they were awesome. The kids swam every night in the pool. They loved looking up at the stars while they swam. The house was perfect and had everything we could possibly need. Even bogey boards for the kids! We will definitely be back next year.

We came for the weekend for a family wedding, we really enjoyed the place. You even had a rice cooker!!! The pool is fantastic and warm :) the kids loved it ( me too). The fire place was a neat touch. Never seen one before in a rental We enjoyed the peaceful night sky with the fire glowing and the stars shining. We'll tell all our friends!

My husband and I enjoyed a very peaceful few days in this well equipped, comfortable family home. The surroundings are peaceful, pleasant and private. If you want a quite, relaxing and private location this is the one. The pool was a great bonus and the water temperature pleasant even on the cooler days. Maureen was friendly and helpful and only a call away should we have needed assistance or had questions.It made a great base from which to explore the Hilo side of the island.
Thanks for sharing your lovely home and we would be happy to come back again next time we're in Hawaii.
