I would had given a 5 star rating, but I didn't like the rule that no food or drinks, including water, can be brought into the pool area. All food and drinks are to be purchased at the bar/restaurant in the pool area. Other than that, we enjoyed the beautiful condo and property. It was very quiet and peaceful.

Halii Kai is located within a gated area near the Kings and Queens marketplaces. The grocery store in the Queens Market is excellent, and priced pretty well, all things told.
The kitchen in this VRBO is well appointed with all pots/pans etc. if you're cooking for yourself on a Hawaiian vacation. The grills out back were easy to use and super convenient.
Unit has comfortable beds, large TVs, and just enough gathering space for family game nights, etc. Parking for one vehicle.
Pool at Halii Kai is wonderful, as is the hot tub. Beach access within 15-20 minute drive either north or south along the coast.
Hosts had everything clean and were communicative. Excellent spot!

Our host, Janelle was easy to work with and was able to respond back immediately. The condo was spacious, excellent and had everything we needed. The boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella was a plus to have in the condo. This was our first family trip to Hawaii and I would definitely come back in a heartbeat. Janelle was available and lovely for any questions we had. The condo was perfect for us. Know that the pool doesn't allow any outside beverages including water. We went to Costco upon landing and mistakenly to the grocery store in kings shops. It may be worth packing a few kitchen essentials so you don't have to overpay for them.

The condo was very comfortable for me, my wife and 3 kids. We are glad it had beds for everyone. The beds are comfortable, but since they are memory foam, they tend to be a bit hot. The condo was very clean, appropriately stocked and nicely decorated. The only suggestion I would give is to put a night light in the master bath. With no window, you can't see anything at night unless you turn the light on. The internet worked great, as I had to work some of the time there. Close to the best beaches and snorkeling only 15 minutes away.

The home was in the center of everything. The restaurant on the property was exceptional with the food and service. I will go back for the Ti Chicken on flatbread. We had an amazing 16 nights in March 2023. The condo was great and the Hali’i Kai grounds were so beautiful. We loved the lanai and watching all the birds and the geckos everyday. We will 100% be back as soon as we can.

Very well appointed kitchen with lots of supplies. Extras for beach - chairs, towels, toys, etc. - also included. Thank you for NOT having a memory foam mattress in the master. They are not suitable for hot climates, yet lots of rentals and hotels seem to have them.

We had a wonderful time at the resort. The condo was exactly as advertised. We had tons or room to stretch out. The local clubhouse is a great area to hang out, plus the food and drinks were great as well! We watched whales and spinning dolphins right from the clubhouse; what an experience! Our family had the privilege of staying at this beautiful, well maintained condo located in the equally beautiful resort of HaliI Kai. We have nothing but wonderful memories. We would highly recommend renting this property and would not hesitate to return in the future. The owners were very nice and accommodating especially when we had to modify our dates due to a unexpected airline schedule change. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with the comforts of home you need to look no further!

We have stayed in this particular condo 3 times! We keep coming back because the condo is comfortable, large, (feels like 2 separate spaces) and has what one would need for a great stay on the Big Island. The owner is very responsive to needs or concerns. The complex has a pool, spa, gym and restaurant within walking distance.

The highest praise we can give this property is that we will certainly try to stay here again next time we head to the Big Island. The complex itself is better than any of the other places we've stayed in Waikoloa in more than a dozen trips, and this outstanding unit was the cherry on the sundae. Handsome decor, all the amenities you'd want and a host that was wonderful to work with. As good a nesting place as you'll find to use as a base for this end of the Big Island.

Can't wait to return! What a wonderful time my family and I had at this property. We arrived a little early prior to check in time and I reached out to Janelle and she told us it was okay that we could go in. What a beautiful condo! We were all comfortable and the unit is equipped with everything one could possibly need. A well stocked kitchen was what did it for me. I felt we were at home away from our home. Our host was superb and communication was great. I brought one thing to her attention and Janelle was very appreciative as she wasn't aware of it and took care of it immediately. She and I spoke on the phone and it was like we knew each other for some time. The location of the unit is superb inside of a gated community which allowed our 15 year old to ride around on an electric bike for hours without us worrying. The property on a whole is beautiful and close to everything like the grocery stores, beaches, trails etc. We stayed for 9 nights and my husband said we should have been there for 2 weeks. Having somewhere comfortable to lay your head plays a big part in that. Thanks Janelle for everything! We plan on coming back! For those of you looking for somewhere to stay on the Big Island, look no more for Janelle's place is it!

Our young family of 5 had an amazing time here! Great location conveniently located near many restaurants and shops, yet very quiet and comfortable. The highlight for our young kids was the pool! We could not get them out at times. Sunset views from the pool are as good as it gets on the big island! The condo was very clean and well maintained and included great beach gear for the family. We loved the Hali i Kai property! Our condo was exactly as described. Well appointed with comfortable furnishings, fast internet, well-equipped kitchen, laundry, and beach supplies. Location is perfect, near the Queens and Kings marketplace. Our first time at Hali i Kai and we loved it! Ideally located right on the beach. The Hali’i Kai complex is beautiful and meticulously manicured. The condo was clean and well laid out. The two bedrooms were situated at opposite ends of the condo, so there was privacy for each bedroom.The second bedroom has a bathroom right outside the bedroom door but still out of sight from the living area, so even though the bathroom was not accessed from the second bedroom, it was still close to the bedroom door and somewhat private. The pool and the bar are right on the water and a great place to watch the sunset! My only disappointment was that I thought we would have at least a small view of the ocean, but you could not see the ocean from our unit. There was a 5+ minute walk to the pool and bar area. We would definitely stay here again!

Wholeheartedly endorse this location and property. Morning to evening was very peaceful. The Ocean side pool was so relaxing with ideal sunset viewing. Waikaloa is perfect location to see most of the island. We were even able to get to Volcano and back during daylight hours. Condo is really spacious with all the necessities. Beds are comfortable and lanai was perfect setting for mornings and evenings. Can't wait to come back!

We had the most wonderful stay here on the Big Island. The location of the rental was perfect for day trips all over the Island as well as chill days at the pool. We can not say enough good things about this property!!
Everything was so easy from the booking, changes we had to make in dates, arrival, and even accommodating a flight cancellation. Janelle was amazing to work with and always made us feel that our enjoyment of our vacation was the priority. Thank you so much we really appreciated everything!
As for the property it is even better than the pictures show. Clean and fresh in a safe and popular area. We felt at home the minute we walked in! Lots of extras in this place including the 'toy' closet with beach chairs, towels, toys and my sons favourite the basketballs! So much to do within the community as well as near lots of shops and restaurants. Very convenient and wonderful property for walks and sunsets.
The food and drinks at the pool bar were delicious and convenient. Be careful of the Mahi Tai's they can sneak up on you
We are a family of 5 (older teens) and had lots of space to spread out and relax either on the balcony, living room, kitchen or rooms. Having 2 full bathrooms was a pleasure as well with all of us!

We would definitely come back to this property and highly recommend this as a place you will want to stay at over and over again.
The only problem is that it is such a great place that it gets really booked up fast so if you are looking and its available I would book it right away!! You wont regret it

We stayed at this property in May and we’re very impressed with the accommodations. We have stayed in a number of rentals on the Big Island and this one is the best by far! We were very fortunate to find it available at the time we wanted to return to the Big Island. We brought my sister and the set up of the condo was perfect and she loved it there. This unit has everything you need to feel comfortable. We love the artwork on the walls that really give you the feel of this Island. We hope to stay there again in the future.

The resort was absolutely beautiful! The condo we stayed in was nice and clean. But prepare for food or you will pay through the nose on the premises. We used two of the boogie boards but they were all broken in half and needed to be replaced. The beach was pristine and there was a beautiful pool and places to shop and wander through. If we were just staying there and not exploring the island, it would have been incredibly relaxing.

Nice location, nice bar/restaurant and pool. Checkin was late morning - the day after - they open late close early and the pool/Restsurant area was strict, since we didn’t have a keycard the night before, nor a car we went to bed hungry. The place was quiet, spacious but lots of bugs in the second bath and ants all over the kitchen dispite the numerous ant-motels. We come back for business ever few weeks. But not here.

SoCal family of 5 just finished our 1 week Big Island vacation in this condo and had an amazing time. You definitely want a rental car on the big island to explore all the great beaches and other areas since they're spread out, and this Waikoloa location was a perfect home base. Our favorite beaches were within a 20 min drive (Kua Bay and 49 Black Sands) and also FoodLand and Island Gourmet Markets were nearby for groceries. We also did a few 1hr+ drives (Volcanoes NP and Punalu'u, Two Step, Manta ray night snorkel) and flew out of Hilo on our last day, and after seeing various other parts of the island I was definitely happy we stayed in Waikoloa (seemed to have the cleanest and safest "neighborhood" feel, great for families). Also the condo felt like our "own place" vs. staying at one of the major resorts nearby and feeling like we were in a hotel room. We took advantage of the condo's included towels, beach chairs and umbrella during our beach outings, and the kitchen was very well appointed (we cooked our own meals many of the days). The resort pool was great for evening swims / sunset-viewing after a long day exploring the island, and even the small weight room was nice for a quick workout with ocean views. We did have to be careful about not leaving any food out on the kitchen counters or the small ants would find them, but it wasn't much of an issue. Thankfully there were no other insect or critter issues that I've read about from other Hawaii visitor reviews (at other properties). The A/C was great to have during our summer stay (although the thermostat control was a little fiddly) and with all the ceiling fans we were never too hot. In all the condo was spacious and clean and decorated very professionally with a great Hawaiian vibe. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property or to stay again in the future. Oh, also I need to give a shout out to the host for excellent communication - I emailed a couple questions through VRBO during the stay and received a response within minutes each time!

The condo was perfect for our family of 5 that included 2 teens and a toddler. The location was awesome for touring the island! Make sure to buy your food at Foodland in the next neighborhood since lots of places close early or have long waits. We had lots of space to relax after a day of touring and they even provided beach gear! Overall the condo had all the amenities we needed, but the floors were dirtier than they seemed even though we took our shoes off. We would definitely stay here again!

Has a closet stocked with items for beach including a beach chair and camp chairs, boogie boards, one beach umbrella, beach toys.

We loved our stay at this home! It is a well appointed place with everything you could need. We especially enjoyed the closet full of beach and pool toys. The real draw of this home is the awesome pool/clubhouse area- the sunset views were great and the clubhouse food was fantastic as well- it made for a wonderful way to end our day. The clubhouse is quite a ways from the condo however- we ended up having to drive to it each time and I didn't think it was super clear in the listing that it was about a 1/2 mile away and parking is tight at the clubhouse. Besides that, it was an amazing place and stay!

The complex itself is very well kept and quiet. The condo is on the second floor and you feel like you are NOT in a multi-unit building. The unit has everything you need for a day trip to the beach which is a short drive from towels, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, etc. The unit itself is very comfortable with whatever you need to feel at home. The Ocean Club which is located on the property is a great place to relax and watch the sunset. The restaurant has a limited menu, but the food is really good. My husband and I had an amazing time and hope to stay in this unit I the future.

The condo was beautifully decorated making us feel like it was our own. The kitchen was well equipped. Located in the fabulous Waikoloa Resort made this an ideal location. The resort property pool and bar area looked over the ocean, so we enjoyed many beautiful sunsets front the property. The gym provided a great ocean view allowing us time to workout during our vacation. We will return.
