My friend and I booked last minute flights October 24-31 to Kauai, 3 weeks before departure to be exact. I mean, who can pass up a 50% off Southwest sale....$161 RT non stop flights from San Jose to Lihue right?! That was the easy part....the hard part was finding an affordable Condo in a Central Location. Luckily, I finally came across Mounque's listing in Kapaa at the Kauai Beach Villas. Not only is Mounque's place AFFORDABLE but his attention to EVERY single detail in his listing was outstanding and accurate!! His communications were thorough, prompt and helpful to say the least!! The condo is centrally located so we were able to get to all parts of the island with ease which avoided us from being trapped in a car driving for hours each day. We also loved how Mounque's place is FULLY stocked with your every need and how clean it was! Oh my gosh, and the Cariloha Bamboo Sheets were a dream to sleep on...so much that my friend and I are going bite the bullet and purchase them!! Besides all of the reasons above, one major factor I will definitely stay at Mounque's place again was he includes the daily parking fee and wrist bands to access all pools etc..at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort and Spa which was AMAZING and a 3 minute walk to get there from the condo. The pool and spa at the condo was right out the door and around the corner which was super nice as well. We loved our stay and I hope after reading this you decide to stay at Mounque's as well!

What a great time we had! My husband and I stayed at Mounque's place and it was perfect. We visited the pool and hot tub almost every late afternoon after tiring ourselves out discovering Kauai all day. The condo is perfectly located so the north and south shores ends were never too far. The fully loaded bathroom cabinet was super convenient we didn't have to run out and buy anything, as was the washer/dryer (which allowed us to pack light) His kitchen also had everything we need and more to make meals. Lastly, I'd like to mention his self authored Kauai "handbook" The tips and resultant suggestion were priceless. would 100% stay there again!! (PS- the bed was a dream to sleep on)

My husband and I were on Kauai for a staycation and a little business. Mont, the host, is great! Communication was great, the condo has everything you need and the vibe is more like being in a neighborhood as opposed to a "resort" yet, you have the ability to enjoy Kauai Beach Resort facilities.
Being we're local, the condo was exactly what we needed and we will be back probably sooner than later!
I would like make sure guests are aware the every food and beverage outlet at Kauai Beach Resort includes an 18% tip on the check. Be sure to look at your check because some servers/bartenders will tell you, others won't.
I'm a service industry professional and we stayed at KBR last year and the tip was not included, I was shocked at this change and as much as I understand it, I, personally, don't agree with it. KBR if someone is reading this, you have just taken away the incentive for good service, not to mention if this is a policy you intend to keep, all checks should reflect the 18% in a different color ink and your staff should be required to verbally tell the guest the tip is included.

It was lovely to stay at Monks condo during our week trip to Kauai. We really needed two bed areas, a full proper kitchen, and our daughter had been promised a very nice pool this vacation.
You couldn't top the pool system! Waterfalls, pools that go from 3' to 6', all-3' pools that parents can see from one of the hot tubs, a waterslide, and a toddler pool that connects to the deeper pool, along with many romantic nooks, I would say this is the best pool system on Kauai.
The condo was better supplied than any condo we have used before, and he has a full description so you know what to expect. It has a washer dryer in the unit, and a balcony, so you can dry your swimsuits. Bring more than one, if you plan to go to the pool twice at day like we did. They had flippers and goggles and things if you use those.
The location is great. It doesn't have an ocean view, and it's important to read the description about the track next door, but you can hear the ocean at night and we found it to be peaceful and quiet. It's a very central location if you need to go to both the north shore and the poipu area during your trip.
The grounds are very beautiful and there is a lovely tree tunnel on the driveway to the resort.
We asked for unscented laundry detergent and they went out of their way to do that for us. It was extremely considerate of them because they usually use a lot of scents, and most people like that, but we are sensitive to scents.

We loved our time in Kauai and would absolutely consider staying at Mounque's place at the Kauai Beach Villas again! It was peaceful, serene and very comfortable. The central location on the East coast of Kauai made our daily excursions to various parts of the island easily accessible and so convenient.
We occasionally used the jacuzzi at the beach-front resort adjacent to the Villas, but soon realized that we made a better choice to stay at the Villas for the peace and serenity it had to offer.
When planning our vacation we initially wanted to book a beach front, ocean-view property but we soon realized that wasn't necessary since much of our time was spent on daily excursions visiting various parts of the island. We were content at Monk's place which is a short 5 minute walk to the ocean, which, by the way, is the perfect spot to experience breathtaking views of the sunrise on Kauai's east coast!
We are glad that we chose Monk's place over a hotel because we felt right at home with all the conveniences of a kitchen, full size refrigerator, washer and dryer, a comfortable living room and access to any toiletries in his medicine cabinet. Who could ask for anything more?
We went to Kalaheo Cafe & Company for breakfast one morning based on Monk's recommendation and it was soo worth it.
We appreciated how responsive and accommodating Mounque and his housekeeper Jennifer were and would highly recommend his place to anyone searching for a peaceful place to stay.

We loved our stay at Mounque's condo. It was exactly as pictured, and it was great to have full cooking facilities so we did not have to go out to eat for every meal. The sunrises at the beach are incredible and it is such a short walk from the condo. Having access to the resort next door was a real treat, we enjoyed mai tais poolside and relaxed in the gorgeous landscaping there. Highly recommend, and we hope to be back some day!

This condo was the most well stocked home I have ever stayed in--everything you need to live at home is here. The owner has created an extensive array of available complimentary items from boogie boards to denture cleaner. You truly have to see it to believe it. You can easily walk to the beach or to the shared swimming pool and jacuzzi. The lovely golf course is a 3 minute drive and a sheltered snorkeling beach is just beyond. We will stay here again.

I am a snowbird and have spent the winter on Kauai for the past 8 years.
I always try to stay a month or so at this beautiful resort. I love to take long walks on the miles of empty beach that front the property. It’s rocky and not too good for swimming, but perfect for walking or sunbathing and just being alone with the ocean. And the resort has a fantastic pool area with hot tubs and a bar with entertainment, and restaurants for when you feel like being social!
Mounque’s condo here has everything you need and a very comfy bed.

From the extensive description to check out we have nothing but positive things to say! The location and amenities make this a GREAT place to stay on Kauai. It was our first trip to this island and being close to Lihue gave me a great access to both the north and south shores.
The bed is extremely comfortable and the host has stocked both the kitchen and bath with thoughtful supplies. We took advantage of all the beach equipment available in the condo as well. I just can’t say enough!

We had a wonderful mother-daughter trip! We loved staying at Monk's condo and could not recommend it enough - it truly felt like a home away from home. It was very clean, comfortable, and incredibly well stocked. Monk was great to communicate with and was very accommodating. We had a flight cancellation and were not able to arrive until the following day. Monk and his housekeeper arranged for us to have a later checkout time to compensate, which was extremely appreciated. We also used Monk's semi-world famous write up on a daily basis for recommendations for restaurants, boat tours, sight-seeing, etc., it gives detailed and honest reviews about everything you could think of and will definitely point you in the right direction. The place has everything you need, plates, bathroom accessories, and boards to go on the water with (not sure the exact name of the board.) This property was perfect, relaxing, everything provided, Monk covered all the questions with great answers and all the supplies anyone could need. You don't even have to bring that many clothes because there is a washer and dryer. This is an excellent location to go see all of the island. We had so much fun going to the Smith's Luau and dinner was delicious. We also went to the Gaylord's dinner and the luau was marvelous. We went to all of the state parks and saw the waterfalls and the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. We enjoyed the beaches and the beautiful flowers and plants. We toured the coffee plantation and three different chocolate tastings, and botanical gardens. We had lots of fun shopping in all the different community shops with local hand crafted goods. The Chicken in a Barrel has delicious chicken, ribs, pork, and chili with rice. We really enjoyed the Coconut Marketplace food, drinks, and all the shops. Brennecke's Beach Broiler restaurant was right at the beach with excellent drinks, delicious food, and a very friendly waitress named Vicky. Hundreds of sea turtles come to the beach to sleep for the night. If you go snorkeling, you will see lots of colorful species of fish. The Oasis on the Beach restaurant had delicious food and drinks served by friendly Charlie. The Lemongrass Grill had excellent food and drinks. Our most relaxing adventure was the Smith's River Boat ride. Makalo Kauai!

After 6 long years without a vacation, we decided to stay on Kauai. Extensive research later, I found Monk's listing. We're so glad he shared his condo with us. As described in his "World Famous Write-up", you lacked for nothing. The condo was as described: well stocked, comfortable and central to exploration trips, etc. Everything for enjoying sun/water was included: towels, coolers, umbrellas, beach chairs (2 were replaced while we were there). The kitchen and bathroom cabinets were also well stocked. His helpful document breaking the island into 4 parts, with suggestions for sights and restaurants was our guide to seeing and enjoying many of them. Monk truly wants his guests to thoroughly enjoy their stay. Even the many roosters/chickens provided entertainment. We hope to return sooner than 6 years and would definitely choose this little paradise location again. Mahalo

This condo has all the supplies you need for a Hawaiian vacation; boogie boards, coolers, chairs, beach towels, umbrellas and more. The bed was super comfortable! Having a washer and dryer is awesome! No need to check a bag, just pack light, wash and rewear. We enjoyed the resort pools, hot tub and water slide. The resort is secluded and quiet. The beach is nice to walk along during low tide (just don’t step on a Portuguese Man of War). The area has a lot of coral, so it’s not ideal for swimming, but there are many nice beaches a short drive away.

I wish we could give 10 stars!! Great unit. Every little need addressed--fluffy towels, bamboo sheets, coolers & beach umbrellas, personal care items, condiments. The condo has a quiet beach close and the swimming pool is right out back. Two miles from airport.
Oh, and did I mention the big box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts and the Hawaiian coffee?
We were even able to check in a bit early. Great communication from the owner and the provided "guidebook" has info on EVERYTHING on Kauai.

We absolutely loved the location! It's close to town, but off the highway and totally secluded. There are multiple pool choices, beautiful grounds and the gorgeous beach right out front. What more can you want? The condo itself was perfect. Very clean and filled with amenities to ease the chore of grocery supplies. It does not have a view of the pool or lagoons but is on a corner and has a peek out to the beach through some greenery which provides privacy and beauty combined. We found it delightful. And for any adventures either north or south you are already half way there. We hope to return with our entire family as we love that the home base has such options right out the front door. We also felt very safe and secure on the property knowing you have to have codes to enter the property.

Wonderful experience with lodging for our first trip to Kauai! Booking, checkin, stay, and checkout were all simple and just what we needed to make the trip complete. The private beach are is a lovely place to catch the sunrise, go for a walk, or head down shore to explore some natural tide pools at low tide! The chickens were a really fun touch! When you’re on the island, check out Aaron’s Kitchen for authentic Filipino food, Kauai SUP or Kayak for a great river adventure, a multitude of free hiking trails, ABC Market for the best deals in local goods, and an authentic 7-Eleven dinner!

Full disclosure I travel a lot for work and I can be a tough reviewer and very rarely give 5 stars. Mounque has provided me with absolutely nothing to criticize! This was truly a 5 STAR experience! It was so nice to be dealing with a real person who actually owns the place as a vacation home rather than just as an investment. She cares about being a good host. It was a perfect place for my wife and I. We are both "foodies" who love to cook and the kitchen was very well stocked and equipped for our needs. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. The location was excellent. Close to the airport, halfway between the north and south coast areas, with nearby (10 minute) access to Safeway and Costco. The beach was easy to get to (2 minute slow walk) and uncrowded. The resort next door was also very nice (access is included - see Mounque's very detailed instructions and write-up). It was a quiet, peaceful location. I highly recommend it this place and hope to come back. Thank you Mounque!

Can’t say enough good things about this condo and the host. Reasonably priced, close to everything, clean and even has beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers to use for your trips to other beaches. The host made sure we had detailed instructions for everything. There are 3 pools and hot tubs for use at the condo and hotel complex, and a nice snorkeling beach 5 minutes away. If we return to Kauai we will be staying here again!

We first stayed in the northern part for 3 days. After moving into this property, we found out it's quite convenient to either part of the island.
Also the affiliation of the Kauai Beach Resort is great. We were able to go to the restaurant to get the meal when all other local shops closed 2-3pm during Christmas week.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mounque’s condo. He had so many things there for our use that we didn’t have to buy much or rent anything other than snorkel gear. The condo was in a great area for us and the weather was preferable for us compared to the south coast. We were able to visit most of the island that we wanted to see with less than an hour drive in either direction. We also appreciated Mounque’s semi famous write up, it helped us find some places we may have overlooked if we didn’t take a look at his guide. Some checklist items were missing, but nothing that effected our trip in an way(ie. flower arrangements…). We would definitely opt to stay here again if we visit Kauai in the future.

Our vacation was fantastic!! The room we had was great!! The room was clean and orderly when we arrived. All that we needed for the stay was available to us in the room. We did buy groceries and cooked the majority of our meals on location and used the outside grills that are provided for the guests. We sat in the lanai numerous times and enjoyed both the scenery and the roar of the ocean waves!! The location was perfect as it seemed to be right in the middle of everywhere we went. I would recommend to everyone to rent this location as it is the perfect home away from home. When we go back to Kauai, we will attempt to rent this room again or if need be, another property that is owned by Mounque Barazone, as he is a wonderful host and was in constant contact with us prior to and during our vacation. My husband and I stayed here for our postponed honeymoon to Kauai. We had to reschedule twice due to COVID and my husband’s new job. Mounque (the owner) was very flexible with us and moving our dates. He even threw in an extra night for free as a honeymoon gift!
The unit was clean and stocked full of everything we could need, including beach towels, a cooler, beach chairs and a beach umbrella. It was very helpful to have these items; we took them with us every day while we were in Kauai. We would not have these supplies staying at a resort! Mounque also had two boxes of chocolate for us when we arrived as a welcome gift. The bed has a memory foam topper and we slept like babies.

My daughter and myself arrived last week to this Beautiful area and stayed here at Mr. Barazone's condo and it was fabulous! The living room/dining room, bedroom, balcony and the wonderful kitchen were used to the fullest by us! The bathroom was very clean and was provided with clean fresh towels along with toiletries. We enjoyed cooking almost every meal as this Kitchen was very well stocked with tools we needed! It was just the right place for us on this vacation and was moments away from the Beach front..The location is is perfect from airport, excursions, stores and restaurants! The location of the property to the airport, shops, restaurants, venues to explore, was excellent. We had thought about renting a property on the North side of the island but heard traffic backup was a problem due to road construction. Glad we chose here. It was a perfect starting point to visit all corners of the Island. The Villa was a great location and access to the resorts pools and all was great. The Villa had all we needed to have a great week of relaxation and comfort. I would recommend it to others. The washer and dryer was a plus to have that other places don’t provide but could use improvement as it’s capacity size and drying seemed lacking on any setting but hot. A couple of days we ran the AC but mostly used the open windows and fans due to the sea breeze and was comfortable. All in all we had a great time. Mounque’s condo was perfect for our Kauai family vacation! There was plenty of room for myself, husband & kids (9 & 11). The location is great, convenient and easy to access from the highway. The condo had everything we needed! It was truly a home away from home thanks to all the amenities provided. We took advantage of the on-site swimming pools & nearby Lydgate beach but also ventured out to nearby shops and other close beaches including beautiful Poipu beach, which was only about a 25 minute drive.

This was my home for over three months while relocating from Chicago. Mounque, the property owner, was a pleasure to work with. he acted as my personal concierge and made sure nothing was left to chance. His communication with me was five star and the cleaning staff was extremely accommodating.
The unit has EVERYTHING would ever need to stay long term. I was an anomaly due to my extended stay. Most people come to Kauai for a week at a time and don't spend much time in the condo. The condo is used to sleep and shower, maybe sit on the lanai for a drink or two. I cooked, cleaned, and lived here as if it were my home. I have no complaints to the cleanness and level of communication I had with this host.
If you're looking for high end decor, this unit could use some updating. I personally found it to have the local flavor I search for when traveling. I made some new friends while utilizing the pool and grill area. The grounds staff does a tremendous job making sure everything is clean and in working order.
Most travelers put a premium on cleanliness, as I do. this unit was extremely clean and well kept. The kitchen had towels, pots, pans, soap, pineapple corer, coffee grinder, espresso machine, French press and coffee maker. The property was well manicured and the staff was friendly. The bedroom has clean sheets, AC, dressers, closet and powder station. This unit also comes stocked with beach towels, coolers and everything you need to go to the beach or pool.
If you read this review, it does not do this property justice. The value here is piece of mind. Its location is perfect, its fully stocked, the owner has impactable communication skills and is willing to make sure your stay is comfortable. If this unit is available book it!

This condo is fully stocked and has every convenience imaginable, from kitchen appliances to beach items (chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, coolers, etc.). It is at a great location on the island so that you can explore any direction easily. All the comforts of home and very well maintained. The villas have a very nice pool area with BBQ grills. The grounds are beautiful with a short walk to the ocean. The owner was very responsive, helpful and informative on every detail of his home and the island. We can't wait to return!

Nice older property next to a resort. The owner has plenty of cooking supplies and condiments to make meals at home. Nice pool area. The grounds are well taken care of. Plenty of chickens around but not bothersome. Felt like a safe area. The condo is not within walking distance to anything except the resort. It is a good location to drive around the island and close to the airport.

Lihue is central to everything.
We were in Princeville for one night and it was a big let down due to mold. We decided to relocate and Mounque's place just happened to become available. Mounque took the extra time to call me direct from out of the country to make sure my daughter and I were set. That is top notch service! His place has everything you need. Super clean and peaceful, the quiet beach is barely a skip behind the buildings.
Mounque also provides an extensive guide that he updates regularly - it has everything you need to know .
The only thing I noticed is that Kauai needs better coffee filters. I went out and looked for some but they only had one brand at the store? Wimpy

What a wonderful place to stay as a wrap-up of our 3 island trip! The location to the beach, the well kept grounds, and the proximity to restaurants and activities made it a joy to stay there . Our hosts suggestions for places to see and things to do did not disappoint! The condo was exactly as advertised- we needed only to provide our groceries, because everything else was provided to make our stay truly like our home away from home.

This place is perfect for couples - Would rank 5 stars! With my two teenage kids, it was a little tight (4 stars) but still doable, and much better than a standard hotel room. I would definitely come back with just my spouse. The VRBO website did not calculate or add in the additional costs for our kids which had to be billed separate and was a surprise after booking (additional $15 per person, per day). Still a decent value in the price range, and the owner did offer a full refund when he notified us. If I would had known prior though, I would have been able to take the extra cost into consideration when comparing pricing for other options offered on the website. The master bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the plug-in/USB units on both sides of the master bed making it easy for us to charge our phones. The kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked with items and made our stay more comfortable. A/C units worked well. The pool and BBQ area are fairly close to the unit. Loved the privacy and beautiful surroundings and the location was great (central) for visiting the island. Like many beaches on the island, the beach at this location is too rough for water activities. Owner of the unit was very nice, responsive, and a good communicator.

I stay here a few times a year for a day or 2 or 3 before our time share to prepare food & shop & all to be ready for our time share week.it is always so much nice I hate to move. But it is even better then last time. The 2 new remote ceiling fans are great. Spectrum's upgrade of the whole resort to fiber optic with the 50 more channels & HD channels & we saw here at first. The two cable boxes in the bedroom & living are real nice. I use the great kitchen & do did a lot baking & meal preparing for the next week. It is so well equipped. It exceeds mine at home. The condo is also central a minute from two BBQ areas at the end of the parking lot or at the pool, both 1 minute. The island write up is expanded & we saw some new new things & restaurant delivery. We enjoyed our time at the condo. The property is beautiful. The walk to the beach is just a few minutes, easy to get to. The view from the condo is wonderful.I was able to cook everything we wanted. The kitchen is well stocked. Every pot or pan I needed was there.

Right in the heart of the southern part of Kauai, close to many attractions. Well-stocked and clean. Perfect for my family of three as a place to crash after a day at the beach, or on a boat dolphin watching. The write-ups are extensive and good reading. Great vacation place.

We have not stayed at many condos or privately owned units so I'm not sure what is normal but we were pleasantly surprised with the amenities. Owner provides those little things that make your stay easy. Washer/dryer so you don't have to bring extra sets of clothing, sunscreen, soaps, beach chairs, ice chest, etc... I could go on and on. This complex is between the North and South shores so you are close to a lot! I don't want to make it sound super good so that way it will be available next time we want it.

This is our fourth year staying at Monk's condo in Lihue. In previous reviews I've talked about the condo, its location, and the overall experience. All are top-notch and never disappoint.
Monk, the owner, is quite wonderful to deal with. His communication is outstanding. Before your trip he sends you info about accessing the condo when you arrive, a very detailed condo user's manual, and his island guide. All of it is clear, up to date, and useful. Beyond those things, Monk is someone I enjoy talking to and doing business with. He's always very straight-forward. Any concerns are dealt with right-away, whether you're still at home before your trip or while you're on the island. His cleaning lady does a great job, and the two of them make a good team to make your stay as carefree as possible.

This place is a perfect Kauai getaway! the location is ideal for venturing to either side of the island. The resort is awesome and for a small extra fee direct to the hotel you can use the full amenities yet you have in suite laundry, a nice kitchen, and decent sized living room. Although the styling is interesting, I it is very well kept and clean.
I will 100% for sure be staying at this property again in the future and will highly recommend it to my friends.

We enjoyed our stay in this immaculate apartment very much. We especially enjoyed walking to the beautiful uncrowded beach 5 minutes from the door, fast & secure wifi, full kitchen and washer and dryer too, beach towels and beach chairs and even ice chest provided! The location is convenient to explore the entire island, to the airport, to many restaurants--our favorite, by far, is Jo2 in Kapaa. The owner communicated quickly and made every convenience available. Highly recommend!

We have stayed at this condo several times and promise to return. Centrally located- just outside of Lihue allows for convenient travel both north and south. Inviting condo with comfortable furnishings- currently in process of upgrade. Short walk to beach. The second floor condo lanai overlooks lovely tropical plants and trees, effectively covering any views of the parking lot. Very close to pool as well- pool area has updated barbecue grills, moderately large two-tiered seating area with adequate number of chairs, tables and beach lounge chairs. Pool plus whirlpool.
Mounque is a most gracious host who quickly answers correspondence and is anxious that his renters have a hassle free stay. I highly recommend - Mahalo Mounque🌺

Villa is in a beautiful location and equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Centrally located so it's easy to go on all sides of the island. Very close to the airport so you can get the most out of your stay. I would definitely stay there again.
The sofa and outside furniture need a little TLC but near the ocean that's the look.

Thanks for a great stay, Mounque! The property was clean & had everything I needed for my stay. Close to grocery stores & a great central hub from which to explore all parts of the island. I hardly ever touched the A/C, as the winds blowing in from the ocean were more than enough to cool down the condo. Having the lockbox meant I never had to worry about losing my keys, & it was great to be able to do laundry as well. Take the time to read through Mounque's Semi-World-Famous write-up: very helpful! Also, yes, there are loud, annoying roosters, & they will wake you up at all hours, but they are everywhere on the island, unfortunately. Bring some good earplugs to try & drown them out. Use it as an excuse to wake up early & see beautiful Kaua'i!

We spent a week at this place and found it perfect for our needs. The condo was very clean and comfortable, and all the appliances worked fine. Monk keeps the kitchen equipped with all the pots, pans, plates, and utensils needed for cooking meals -- as well as many spices, condiments, etc. We spent most of the daytime hours exploring the wonderful island; but whenever we were in the condo, the two air conditioners kept the temperature just right for us during the day, and the breeze through the window screens kept us cool at night. The king bed was amazingly comfortable. The roosters began crowing around 4:00 am, but we soon got used to that. We could have slept in each morning if we'd wanted, but most mornings we opted instead to walk the short distance to the beach to see and photograph the sunrise. The condo's location is ideal for those who wish to explore the island. It's just a few minutes drive to either Kapaa or Lihue.

Loved the condo unit. It was centrally located to see all the sites and not far from the airport. Grounds of the complex are beautiful and well manicured. There is a pool and a nice beach at the property. Only complaints were very minor....the maids had queen size sheets on the king bed and the bedroom air conditioning was a bit loud. Otherwise, everything was just excellent and I would highly recommend this property.

Loved the condo, Monk simply opens his home up to you, as if you were a long time family friend. He provides just about anything you could need for a relaxing stay on Kauai, stacked laundry, full kitchen, plenty of space to unpack into, comfortable bed, beach chairs, etc. It is centrally located for easy access to explore both ends of the island. If you're looking for a comfortable and reasonably priced home-away-from-home, you simply can not go wrong here. His write-up is priceless and really does cover almost everything as a long time local - it is basically like having a local tour guide in your back pocket.
Lastly the rooster thing on Kauai is for real - damn things are EVERYWHERE, at first I thought they might get irritating - but oddly enough they kind of just added to the charm of this beautiful island.

We had a fabulous time at the KB Villas. Accomodation and location couldn't have been better. A near perfect start to our vacation. Also, communication with the owner was excellent and any info we needed was provided whenever needed. It was also one of the best stocked condas that we have ever stayed in, and with miles of beach just a couple of minutes away, it was just what we wanted. The only down side was that at times it got a bit noisey ... those darn chickens!

My wife and I get to Hawaii often as it is our favorite vacation setting and Kauai is one of our favorite islands. We have just come back from one of the most enjoyable vacations on Kauai ever! The beach view of the Kauai coast is breathtaking and the sandy beach perfect for basking in the sun. The condo has a great location near the pool, sauna (facing a lagoon with beautiful palm trees) and the ocean likewise is readily accessible. The condo is comfortably furnished and immaculately maintained. The kitchen is well appointed and everything works! We are used to air conditioning and this appears to be one of the few condos that offer air conditioning throughout which made a big difference for us. The condo is conveniently located near (but not too close) to the airport and in the middle of the Kauai coast which allows an easy drive to the North (Hanalei and Princeville) and to the always sunny East (Poipu). The owner provides great information about the main things to do in the area. We had a great time!

Thanks Monk for allowing us to rent your wonderful condo. It was a last minute reservation and Monk graciously allowed to rent without much hassle. The best thing about this condo is the location - very close to the airport which is very important as the the only road that leads to the airport is usually busy and the traffic backs up for hours. Also, it is central to both the shores (North shore and West shore) of the island which is a big time saver if you intend to visit both these shores.
Even though the condo is a bit dated, it was fully stocked with all you could ask for. Overall we had a nice time at the island.

Thanks Mounque for sharing your home with us. So much nicer than the other places we have stayed on Kauai over the years. We really liked the resort. It is beautifully kept up and staff are friendly and helpful. We spent a couple of days just hanging around the resort enjoying the pools and excellent beach. Your dining suggestions turned out to be one of the best parts or our trip. We will never forget pancakes at the Tip Top, and the two places on Kress St. were wonderful--macadamia encrusted ahi salad with lime/macadamia nut dressing--so good we did it twice. Having stayed in Princeville on our previous trips, we liked the central location your place offers. I have already recommended this unit to relatives and friends.
Just to let you know. Two of the blinds fell off when we opened the slider. A small piece of scotch tape was holding them, or not holding them as it turned out. I used some packaging tape which is sturdier and it seem to work. If not, it is easy to remove and will not leave residue. Also the toilet paper holder fell off. One hole on the mounting plate had worn through--they don't make them like they used to. I used some cardboard from a cereal box as a washer and it will hold for awhile, but you might want to replace it with a metal washer if you think about it.

Monk's home @ Kauai Beach Villas (KBV) is our home away from home during our recent week long visit to Kauai. It meets the needs of our family of 4 including a toddler and a senior.
It is perfectly located on the south east side of the island in Lihue, and only 5 minutes away from Lihue Airport, which is very convenient for our family. Visiting different parts of the island is easy because of its favourable location.
The condo complex has a small pool and a Jacuzzi. The unit includes a kitchen and cooking supplies which provide the flexibility of dining options, we can dine out or stay in the condo when needed. High chair and play pen are offered, and it is a relief for us. Monk also has beach supplies in the unit including beach mats/chairs, beach towels, and a cooler, which are very handy when we spent time on the beaches.
A recent change ( Nov 20, 2015) by neighbouring Kauai Beach Resort requires additional fee for KBV guests to use the resort pools, but it didn't have any impact on us as we were out and about most of the time, we only used the condo pool once during our stay.
The condo complex is 5 minutes walking distance to the beach, we enjoyed our beach walk with our family.
Monk is awesome to communicate with, thank you again for sharing your home.

We stayed in this unit for a week and found the condo very comfortable. It was extremely clean, and well kept. The kitchen had all of the cookware, utensils, and dishware that we needed. The bed was comfortable. The owner had a place for everything and everything was in its place. You could tell that the owner had really attended to every detail that a vacationer would need. Also Mounque was very accessible. I spoke to him on the phone and exchanged several emails with him. The location is great as well. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Thank you, Mounque for helping us feel like we were at home! The condo was very comfortable (the bed was very comfy as well, which we needed, and made up for the early rising roosters hehe). I was nice to have everything we could want there! A couple days we cooked and loved having all the stuff needed to cook. We stayed for a few days on our honeymoon and really enjoyed it. We also tried some of the places on the famous review and loved them! It was very nice being able to utilize the resort pools as well, which we did a few times. We really enjoyed our stay at Monk's condo. It was clean, comfortable, conveniently located, and had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. We loved having multiple swimming pool options and used the BBQ a couple of times. We also enjoyed having the washer/dryer so we could do laundry close to the end of our stay. Monk was very easy to work with and very responsive to our requests. We definitely hope to stay here again for our next trip to Kauai!

Wow, what can I say? The condo was perfect! And I mean that in every little way -- from providing beach towels for us, to having kitchen utensils, including wine glasses and pots and pans and a lovely coffee maker. The condo was PERFECT. My husband and I stayed for a week for our honeymoon and we had everything we needed. We also did our laundry towards the end. The bed was so comfortable and we also made use of the jacuzzi and swimming pool associated with the condo and resort. The owner Mounque was super responsive and called us twice before our stay. His helper Chris also made sure the condo was spotless for us when we arrived. She even laid out a nice dish towel and new, unused sponges for the dishes. There's plenty of brochure they've provided in the condo and Mounque has written a very detailed account of the best places to go on the island. We fell in love with Kaua'i and the condo was the perfect touch. We would love to come back every year for our anniversary and to this special spot right near the airport and pretty convenient to all parts of the island. It truly felt like home. Mounque was super friendly and helpful in getting this reservation set up for us. Kauai was our last stop on our vacation so it was nice to have a fully furnished condo available to us. We took advantage of the kitchen, the washer and dryer and the beach towels that Mounque provided. The place was exactly like he described. Sure, there were chickens and motorcycles on the weekend, but they never bothered us and I enjoy sleeping in. The complex is well maintained and the people there are super friendly. We even met the property manager and she was super friendly and just super pleasant to talk to. Monk's place is like a home away from home. The internet is blazing fast. The patio is just so relaxing to just sit back and relax. The beach is a couple minute walk from the condo but that isn't a good beach for swimming. If you want to go swimming, Lydgate Park is a very short drive away. Monk's guide was very helpful especially when paired with Yelp. Thanks Monk, you really helped make our vacation excellent.

Really beautiful condo at the beach in very convienent central location, nect to a golf course, easy for us to get to the north and south and between the 2 big towns. Really well equipped, better then we expected. Nice pool, whirlpool and bbq's. The property is secluded and a way from everything and the landscaping is lovely, lagoons, fountains, waterfalls, geese, and ducks. Near the airport so we did not have to pack and leave hours before our flight. Great deal and may be the best place we've stayed at. We will return.

Property was a God-send for our family wedding party guest overflow. Lodging was ultra comfortable and convenient to our exploration of Kauai. The property amenities were a true home away from home. We'll be back to celebrate our wedding reunion next year.
