Comfortable, pretty free-standing cottage perched on a hillside with great views in either direction! The well kept house has everything you could need - local bath products, surfer microfiber towels, a closet full of beach gear, stocked modern kitchen, comfortable furniture and nice linens, a top notch guidebook with tons of great local recommendations, ukuleles, and much more. It is obviously a place that the owners love and have used themselves for many years, and it shows.
It's part of a golf course community and there are tons of people jogging or walking by, looking at the amazing view from the bluff across the street from the villa. It's about 2 miles to the town of Princeville but you can walk to a couple of restaurants (the golf course grill, a highly rated breakfast place that was closed when we were there) AND it's just up the street from the super fancy 1 Hotel, that has several high end restaurants and bars. The hotel entry post was restricting non-guests from walking in when we were there (spring break week) but if you walk down to the public beach along the side steps (Puu Poa Beach) - the beach bar is right there, and you can access the hotel. Amazing sunset drinks!
One thing to note: if you have little kids or older folks (like we did) the beach access from this cottage is not easy. It's a long walk with a lot of stuff down a steep hill or steps. We ended up driving around for easier beaches, which was fine - just something to know.

This has to be one of the best equipped rental properties we have ever stayed at. Truly felt like you were in a home away from home. The location was also great - especially for viewing sunsets and the birds and greenery off the back of the property. The stay was just perfect!

This was a perfect house for our first visit to Kauai. The homeowners have thought of everything. They manage it themselves and put a lot of attention to detail into their home. The house was spotlessly clean and you really have everything you could think of (i.e. beach towels, umbrella, chairs, supplies like laundry detergent, etc). The location was also good, within walking distance to a golf course and some restaurants. We had a rental car and there was an assigned parking spot near the house for us. We will definitely recommend the villa to others.

We enjoyed our stay here. It’s our 5th visit to the island and 3rd time renting through VRBO, and it was our favorite rental property by far.
The location was perfect, decoration of the house was very welcoming, and spacious enough for 5 of us. Appreciated their beach equipments and tumble water bottles which we used daily.
I wasn’t used to using an electronic stove top, but other than that, their kitchen is well equipped as well. Very comfortable stay.
Loved the mountain and the ocean views, walking distance to 1 Hotel and Hideaway beach.

Donna is a great host. Her communication and attention to detail is top tier! We just got back and already long to be sitting back on the lanai. The location of this villa is prime. One side is a jungle and mountains with waterfalls. The other is a Cliffside ocean view the commands a crowd at sunset. However this site your front yard. The best shopping, beaches, views and restaurants are literally steps away from your Villa. Great for a photographer such as myself. With potential gardens and the queens bath at your doorstep. I didn't want to leave.

The location of the property is incredible! Views outside front door and back door are breathtaking. Home is well equipped with everything you need for your travels including cooking essentials (like oil, flour, sugar, and spices), beach gear (umbrellas chairs, coolers, and sunscreen), tp and paper towels, and some toiletries. This is absolutely one of the best rental properties. You cannot beat enjoying coffee on the lanai with views of the mountains or hearing the ocean out the front door. Beach is just a short 5-10 minute walk. The house has every amenity you could wish for, including all beach gear. Donna and Chase were extremely accommodating and were so generous with a welcome birthday gift. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Very very satisfied with this Villa in Princeville- all around- location, in walking distance to the hideaway beach, which is great for snorkeling, a short drive to the beautiful beach in Hanalei, long sandy beach with nice waves and the most amazing setting; across lookout over the ocean; backing out to lush green and Mountain View’s, parking in front of the house; house has generous layout with very well stocked kitchen, that we used for majority of our meals, dining area, comfortable living room area , bedrooms comfortable, very much appreciated beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling gear; quite, private and lots of light; road in front of the house is quite, and with sidewalks for pleasant morning run; not much traffic; communication with host easy; supermarket close by and well stocked for all our needs; great place!!

My entire family enjoys staying in this gym. We are so fortunate that we found it several months ago and could lock in our stay. Hideaways beach was beautiful and fun to get to. The water was crystal clear and the snorkeling was impressive. We really enjoyed relaxing on the lanai for our morning coffee with the majestic mountains as our backdrop. It was only a 30 minute scenic drive to get to other high-rated beaches and hiking trails. We travel quite a bit and have to say that this was definitely the nicest place we’ve ever stayed.

We had a great time at this house. It was clean and the location couldn’t be beat. Ocean in the front and mountains in the back. It was close enough to all we wanted to see and easy enough for day trips to any part of the island. The breeze was enough to keep us cool and we brought a hammock for the back deck that was used often. Donna worked with me when I forgot a bag on the big island and allowed me to have it mailed for the rest of our vacation. Would definitely stay again.

It was the second time our family of 5 stayed at the wonderful villa. We truly love this house and location! Donna and Art are very responsive and provide everything you need for a wonderful vacation, including a list of things to do in the area. The kitchen is fully stocked, they have beach towels, coolers, water bottles, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, really everything you will need.
We walked to Hideaway's beach, it's a steep cliffside path with great snorkeling. You can walk to the beach at The St. Regis as well. We hiked a few different trails and had dinner in Halalei. The air conditioners in the bedrooms were nice to block out the roosters crowing at 4 am (but you hear them all over the island). All of the reviews are accurate, this is the perfect house and location!

This little house is just perfect. Donna has it so organized - everything you need is easy to find. Well stocked kitchen which was great to cook in. The view from the back deck is super gorgeous. The house is very clean and tastefully appointed. We just loved it. Had a wonderful anniversary thanks to this house. Great location too. Short walk to the St Regis and a very cool beach is pretty much across the street using a slightly tricky cliffside trail. Easy to get the beach below the St Regis as well. Loved the location, a short walk to magical "Hideaways" beach which is great for swimming and snorkeling. Quiet, peaceful. Step outside your front door to watch the sun set over the ocean (in the summer only). Stargazing any time it's clear. Rain is frequent in Kauai; be prepared. Do the Napali hike (first two miles) but bring Keens or similar "river" sandals as hiking on this island is MUDDY.
House had everything, even a ukelele and discount cards for the local grocery store (Foodland in Princeville). Best stocked VRBO we've ever stayed in. Delighted to find a rice cooker, electric skillet, blender. Beach gear, too.
Most unexpected delight: the view from the back patios (upper and lower) is simply spectacular. The golf course is mostly hidden by forest, and the mountains fill the scene. I could've sat there all day.
We did have one significant issue and contacted the homeowner, who responded promptly and had it immediately taken care of.

The interior is spacious and the condo is well-stocked. Very comfortable and plenty of room for my family of four. My family and I stayed here for about a week and absolutely fell in love with this place. The view from the lanai is beyond words to describe how spectacular it is. You feel like you are in the backdrop of Jurassic Park. And then you have the best of both worlds because you have the beach sunset view just across the street in the front of the villa. The home decor is so cute- very hawaiian and goes great with the island theme. The beds are so comfortable and the house is fully stocked with anything you could need. This includes snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach towels and kitchen necessities. Donna is very responsive and makes sure you are taken care of before and after you arrive. I definitely plan on staying in this beautiful home when I return to Kauai again. Absolutely stunning house!!! You will truly be in paradise when you stay here!

I'm not sure what I can say about this house that hasn't already been said?! If I could give this home 10 stars I would. First, the home itself is in the best location in Princeville! Each morning we walked to the shops in Princeville and had breakfast ~ round trip it was about 4 miles. We walked to 2 beaches (Hidden Beach and the St. Regis Beach) and each night all we had to do was walk 20 steps across the street to have the best view of the sunset. People drive from all over the island to this exact point to watch the sunsets and we were able to just walk out our front door. And the view of the mountains while sitting on the back patio is stunning. We counted waterfalls each morning and even saw a few rainbows. You are just a 10 minute drive time to Hanalei as well.
Second, the amenities here are way more than expected. The bed in the master bedroom was just what we needed after hiking and/or snorkeling all day. The kitchen was equipped with everything you can think of. There was even a crock pot with island recipes included! And if you needed something to take to the beach, it was there. Chairs, towels, umbrellas, hats, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, etc. My husband and I are pretty active so not only would we walk in the morning but we found many different hikes throughout the island. By the end of the day our clothes were less than desirable. So the fact that there was a full size washer/dryer in the house made it all the more bearable! It was like we were staying at a family members house....not a rental.
Third, Donna and Art were amazing to work with. They are always quick to respond to answer any question and they make you feel like you have known them forever. They are more than gracious too. There was some unexpected maintenance at the neighbors house, so Art and Donna presented us with a beautiful gift that was fitting for our anniversary.
If you are staying on Kauai, in Princeville, you would be remiss if you didn't book this location. As much as I love this house, I am hesitant to recommend it....I'm worried it won't be available the next time we want to visit!!! Seriously though, this place is a "10" and you and your family will love it!!!

We really enjoyed our stay - everything was as advertised and lived up to all the previous positive reviews. Right across the street from the ocean with spectacular views of the beginning of the Na Pali coastline at sunset. I went with my two teenage children and the accommodations were terrific for our family - having bedrooms downstairs and main living area upstairs made it really flexible with different sleep/wake schedules and to spread out at times. The house and kitchen was well stocked with lots available to use at the beach - we'll definitely be back!

My husband and I were MORE than delighted with this property. It wasn't just a rental, it was a home with heart and soul. The owners really care about the renters and you feel it as soon as you arrive. Of course its in paradise, but it was more! The views are amazing, the location is 360 degree spectacular . Gorgeous location and close to everything! We Spent our days swimming with the sea turtles, stand-up paddle boarding, morning walks through Princeville to St. Regis to take in cliff views, and visiting the charming town of Hanalei with its great restaurants and boutiques. At the end of the day we all enjoyed returning to this wonderful villa to relax and cook a fresh fish dinner purchased from Dolphin Fish Market only minutes away. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook several fabulous meals! Can't rave enough about this property! We will return!!

We have stayed in a number of vacation rentals on Kauai and this one has as been the best experience yet. Very tastefully decorated and impeccably clean, we found the villa to be roomy and airy, and it?s hard to beat the gorgeous view from the lanai! The unit comes with everything one would need including beach and snorkeling gear,boogie boards,etc.All you need to bring is your fresh food. A nearby trail takes you down to a secluded beach and the impressive St Regis Hotel is just a short walk. A big plus for us was the daily visits if several species of attractive birds that visit the lanai during the day.

Our stay at Hanalei Bay Villas was great. There was plenty of room for my wife and I and our 2 adult children. We really enjoyed relaxing on the lanai and getting to know the birds. The villa is beyond well stocked and Donna has, indeed, thought of everything. Our daughter enjoyed doing her yoga out on the lower lanai amongst the lush setting with the birds chirping. Snorkelling gear was good and plenty to choose from plus beach chairs, bags, mats, towels and way more. We had a lot of fun on the beaches. Our favourite for snorkelling was Tunnels beach - what a beautiful reef. The beaches nearby are also great and not crowded but Hideaways might be challenging for some to get down to - very steep trail with slippery sections and ropes.
On the hotter days/nights the air conditioned bedrooms were appreciated but it also rained at night a couple of times to cool things down. The main floor requires some strategic used of the window shades and vents but this is pretty typical of many homes in Hawaii. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and wouldn't hesitate to return when we next visit Kauai.

This is my best vacation rental to date, and I highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants to experience a quiet, cozy, and well-appointed condo with a great view.
The lanai was The Spot for our morning breakfast. It was so relaxing to hear the bird song, and to watch the sun come out and dapple the mountains with light.
Overall, the house was full of everything you could conceivably need for a wonderful and relaxing stay. The kitchen is well-stocked, and all the beach gear was a treat. I played the ukulele far more than my husband would have liked. It really felt like a home away from home.
Donna was really accommodating, and made the planning part super easy.
Five stars for sure - can't wait to go back some day!

This is a lovely house in exactly the right spot. It was perfect for a vacation with my parents, husband, and 2-1/2 year old. Their was a portable crib, but my little girl tried out the big kid bed and loved it, so we never used the crib. Lots of rain, geckos, and plenty of birds (doves, cardinals, mynahs) visiting us at meals on the lanai. When the rain got to be a bit much, we took a nice long drive to Waimea for some sunshine. A small problem with the plumbing was fixed right away without any trouble at all by the local manager. Terrific experience!

We stayed in this property for 10 days, and every day was beyond great. It was February, so it rained all day a couple times, but we didn't even care. One of those days we just sat in the house & watched it rain while listening to all the different sounds.
Donna really does take care of everything, just like all the other reviews say! There are way more supplies in stock than any rental unit we've ever stayed in. Also, the quality of everything from towels to kitchen utensils is very high. This place is not furnished cheaply. It feels more like they're letting you stay in their home instead of a vacation rental property.
We decided instead of Donna & her husband retiring there someday, that WE should. Now. But, cooler heads prevailed & we left when we were supposed to.
if you're worried about view or location or anything, don't. This place really is right across the road from the benches that overlook the ocean, as well as about 5 minutes from Princeville Market (grocery store & shopping center). And the view out the back toward the mountains is UNBELIEVABLE. We got a later start most days than we meant to, just because we didn't want to leave that lanai. SO peaceful & relaxing.
Don't hesitate to stay here - you'll be surprised at how well done it all is, how great a location it is, and how much you won't want to leave!

Wow - we couldn't have asked for a better vacation rental! We would certainly come back again. We stayed here for about a week on our honeymoon and came back raving about the place. Not to mention that the owner, Donna, was extremely organized and easy to work with. She was responsive and returned our deposit in a timely fashion. This was the first place we stayed in on Kauai back in May for a much-needed vacation. Before we even got there, Donna's prompt and courteous service already put my mind at ease that we'd have a nice stay, but once we actually arrived it was even more wonderful than anticipated. The moment we opened the door, it was so lovely and welcoming that we had huge smiles on our faces. Donna took care of every detail. There were so many "extras" included for our use, from coolers to beach umbrellas to extra toiletries in case you forgot something. Also: comfy beds, a deep soaking tub, movies and cable tv to watch, board games, and more. The kitchen was easy to use. It was even stocked with some teas, spices, cooking oils and the like. It was very clean and we could tell it was a well-cared for cottage. It sits just above lovely beach, and the sunset views from right outside the front door are amazing. We didn't want to leave and promised ourselves we'd come back and stay in this very cottage again. Highly recommended!
extra note: the book 'The Ultimate Kauai Guide Book' was very helpful. We learned that it's better to shop for groceries in Kapaa - we even found a great little health food store there with a wonderful little deli counter.

This villa is very conveniently located for all activities on the North Shore. The villa is very well designed and provides plenty of room for two couples or a family. It is very attractively furnished, very neat and clean, and well supplied with cookware and dining utensils, as well as beach chairs, beach mats and towels and snorkeling gear. Excellent views from the lanai in back of the villa and from the scenic overlook across the street. Donna, the owner, provided extensive information about the area and was very helpful and responsive to all of our inquiries. We thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay at the villa.

We would highly recommend this property! Donna was very informative and helpful. The Villa was everything that is described and more ~ immaculate and beautiful! The views were amazing beyond our imagination. We could walk across the street and view the ocean over the cliff. There were benches there so we enjoyed our morning coffee while watching the waves, surfers etc and we ended our days out there also watching the amazing sunsets with the ocean and mountain views! We didn't want to leave and hope to someday go back. They had everything you needed for snorkeling, hanging on the beach, a picnic etc etc. Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed our stay! We stayed here a week for our 25th wedding anniversary. We are particular in where we stay and found the house to be perfect. High end finishes, very clean, nicely decorated (VRBO pictures are accurate). Our favorite restaurant was The Lighthouse Bistro. The HoloHolo Charter Napali Sunset Cruise was just spectacular and the highlight of our trip. The Waimea Canyon was pretty nice, but being from AZ not as spectacular as the Grand Canyon :)
Negatives: I'm a light sleeper, and the roosters start crowing at 3am every morning. Also, being from Arizona we are use to the heat but unfortunately during our stay in Kauai it was unseasonably hot and extremely humid and the house was too warm for comfort during the day. The nights were fine. There are 2 a/c window units downstairs in bedrooms. One upstairs in living area would be nice. We spent most of our time out and about so not a deal breaker and would stay again.
The homeowners are easy to work with and always responded quickly to our questions. Thank you Art and Donna for sharing your home.

Honestly, look no further than the #29 villa if you're staying in Princeville. It's an amazing property with a fantastic owner. My wife and I honeymooned our first week here and could not have asked for more for our stay. It has every amenity and tons of space. The location is right by the swanky St. Regis and just a short drive into the town of Hanalei. Beach access just a short walk, mountain views at all times off the back porch and an ocean view with jaw dropping sunsets out front....again, look no further because it cannot be beat!

You can tell each occupant has been careful to preserve the beauty of this incredible villa. Multiple louver style windows on every wall make it bright, and you can direct the perfect trade wind breeze any way you want, or close them completely.
The island color decor that co-ordinates with the artwork, and beautiful colored carpet make a stunning first impression when you first enter and make you feel like a million bucks as you return from your North Shore excursions. All of the surroundings are upscale and the area felt very safe.
The beautiful kitchen had top of the line appliances and plenty of amenities and kitchen gadgets.
We hope to return to this Villa again and again, as it was one of the best parts of our trip

HBV 29 fills the prescription for relaxation in a beautiful and comfortable environment. From first on line contact with the owner, contracting, arrival set up, our stay and departure, everything went just as planned. The unit is set in a very favorable location on the HBV property. Enjoy waking up each morning to picturesque mountain waterfall views from the lanai while sipping Hawaiian coffee off the living room and its just a short walk out the front door every evening for the much anticipated sunset over Bali Hai. Washer and dryer are stacked downstairs and the unit comes with plenty of towels and linens. The two and one half baths all have been upgraded as well with a tub in the master. The furnishings throughout the unit are as though they were planned by a professional decorator. Additionally, there is wi-fi throughout and the entertainment centers (upstairs and down) boast flat screens and stereo plus quite a complete library to guide you in relaxation. For your other activities, you will appreciate the guest closet that has all the necessary chairs, mats, an umbrella and even snorkeling gear to facilitate your day at the many easily accessible north shore beaches. The owner has compiled an all inclusive coffee table information booklet to assist first time visitors. We are so happy that we chose to stay at Hanalei Bay Villas #29 for our honeymoon. The rental exceeded our expectations and the listing was fully accurate. The location is awesome if you have a rental car. We used ours daily. The house was within walking distance of several beaches. The owners provide great recommendations for your vacation activities. Additionally, the house provided access to all the necessary beach gear, which we loved. We would definitely stay here again, as well as recommend it to our friends and family.
