It is situated within walking distance of the luxurious Princeville Hotel and its’ renowned Pu’u Poa Beach. It offers spectacular vistas of the mountains surrounding Hanalei Valley and an ocean view of Hanalei Bay across the top of the jungle canopy. It has a Hawaiian 'Sense of Place' - for complete relaxation, yet convenient to all the sights and experiences that the North Shore of Kaua’i has to offer. Enjoy sleeping peacefully to the sounds of the palm trees swaying in the gentle trade winds mixed with the sound of the ocean waves just across the street. By day, sit back; watch the variety of birds that come to visit you, as the splendor of Kauai's daily rainbows unfold above the panoramic vista from the upper lanai. From the lanai you can almost touch the tops of the tropical fruit trees; mango, avocado, guava and java plum. At days end, witness the spectacular sunsets from the famous Bali Hai (Makana Peak) lookout, located right across the street from your own front door and individual parking space. This two-bedroom/2.5-bath, stand-alone villa; has 1250 square feet and is ideal for couples or a family desiring a beautiful setting for a rejuvenating vacation.

Haleakamanu is a two story, free standing home that has been recently renovated with bamboo floors upstairs and new carpeting downstairs. It has been decorated with attention to tropical-style furniture and Hawaiian details. Upstairs is the living area; with a spacious living room, entertainment center and sliding doors to the lanai. Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen and the dining area and both are also open to the wonderful views. Enjoy creating fine culinary delights in the well appointed kitchen. It's well stocked, and ready for your use. Also located upstairs, is a convenient ½-bath and desk with phone and internet access. Downstairs you will find the bedrooms, the remaining baths and the laundry. The large master bedroom suite is comfortably equipped with a queen size bed, dressing alcove and closet, with a full bath and its’ own lanai. It has its’ own TV and telephone. The second bedroom is perfect for additional guests or additional family members, it has two twin beds and an adjacent bathroom with shower. The décor complements the lush garden surroundings. The outside is brought inside by copious windows – on both floors. The windows (forty-two and counting) are open to the light, surrounding views and cool tropical breezes. Both of the bedrooms and the living room have ceiling fans.
When you are looking for adventure, Haleakamanu offers you access to the best activities on Kaua’i. Beach destinations are varied and plentiful. Many are among the top rated beaches in the world and some are hidden treasures. Within walking distance you will find; Pu’u Poa, Hideaways, Kenomene (in front of Pali Ke Kua) and Queen’s Bath. It is a short but scenic drive to beaches of Ke’e, Tunnels, Ha’ena, Lumaha’i, Hanalei Bay, ‘Annini, Kalihiwai and to Secret Beach. Hikers are attracted by the nearby Kalalau Trail and the Na Pali Coast, but the trailhead for the often overlooked Powerline Trail is just a few miles away. The North Shore area offers the many activities listed below; plus it remains within driving distance of all the attractions of Kapa’a, Lihue, the South Shore, and Waimea Canyon (just get back by sunset, if you can!).

Great views of the bay right off of the balcony and simply walk across the street for great views of the sunset! The property was setback ~100ft away from the street, so it was very peaceful without any noise from the road to ruin your vacation. The property is 2 stories with the bedrooms downstairs and the common areas upstairs. Very secluded, when looking out onto the balcony felt like I was in a jungle, with a great deal of foliage and birds nearby. Was nicely appointed with all of the amenities, it even had a stereo system with several Hawaiian music CDs to get you in the mood. Great property, hope to return soon!

We loved our stay at Joe and Linda’s villa. It is lovely, well equipped, and beautifully located. It’s also a little more private than the other Hanalei Bay Villas because it’s the last one on the row. We wish we could stay longer. It can get quite hot inside in the afternoon, but we found extra fans to cool us down when we needed it. I’m soaking in one last magnificent view on the lanai as I write this review. So glorious!!!

Joe and Linda have a hidden gem on the North shore in Kauai. Rainbows across the bay every morning. Nice and quiet and yet close to everything you need. This place is perfect in every way and while staying here, we truly felt at home. We will definitely be back! Mahalo!

We stayed here for 4 nights. It's a place to chill and relax. Even though it rains awful lot, it's very restful. The house is in perfect order and very romantic! My husband is glad to have found the 1963 Dr.Who on one of the many streaming channels, which is a bonus of the stay.

Our trip exceeded all expectations, and the property is even better than the pictures and description online!! The home is clean, bright, convenient, in a safe neighborhood, well equipped, and located right in the jungle so close to the ocean - an absolutely breathtaking setting. Would highly recommend this home if you are visiting Kauai. 5 stars!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Joe and Linda’s lovely home. We especially enjoyed being across the street from the ocean and being able to watch the beautiful sunsets over the Napali coast. The house had everything we needed. We walked to The Spot for breakfast most mornings. We took the Kauai Bus to and from Hanalei. We walked to Anini Beach via Wylie Beach. We went to a concert at Anaiou community center. There was so much to do and enjoy..

Joe and Linda were gracious and kind hosts with a beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the home - location, room, cleanliness - the home had everything you could need or hope for. Joe and Linda made the process easy and comfortable. The view from the lanai was incredible, and proximity to beaches amazing. I really appreciated the information that Joe and Linda provided to help us get around the island. Just an incredible trip. Mahalo Joe and Linda!

Great house for our week long stay in Kauai. I was concerned when we checked in about there not having air conditioning, but it cooled down a lot every evening and was very comfortable for sleeping. The owners are very helpful and responsive with any questions. I’ve already recommended this house to two other friends planning a trip to Kauai and we would stay there again.

Wonderful condo on the North shore. Well situated for exploring there. Great view of Hanalei Bay. Very comfortable with all the amenities. It accommodates a couple in the main bedroom and 1-2 additional smaller people (kids) in a room with 2 twin beds. There are stairs inside and out and so would not be ideal for people with mobility concerns. Perfect for my spouse and I. Hosts were responsive to a question but were otherwise laissez-faire. Near golf courses and 10 minutes from Hanalai Bay and town. Would be thrilled to return in the future.

We enjoyed staying in this condo because it is a beautiful home with beautiful views and also because it was clean, well-appointed, and welcoming. The hosts provided some great local suggestions, including helpful directions so we could find the home and parking spot in the dark and in our state of extreme jet lag. We loved the double lanais and the birds being cute against the backdrop of fruit trees, mountains, and ocean.

Beautiful peaceful house to stay at. The porch overlooking the scenery was very enjoyable and relaxing. Nice well equiped kitchen for all your cooking and reheating needs. The CD player with some local music was a small but very enjoyable addition for me.

We had an amazing stay and loved this place. The view of the trees and bay were serene and the house had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked and perfect for cooking, including spices, olive oil, and condiments. The bed was firm, but not too firm, which was great for those of us who can't sleep on really soft beds. The guidebook was very useful and we enjoyed being able to walk to the beach. While there is no A/C, the fans kept the place cool, especially in the evening. Would highly recommend and would love to stay there again!

This property is exactly as it was pictured! Spacious, clean, well- stocked and literally in the middle of the rainforest. Although very humid; the nights are totally manageable with the fans and the beautiful breeze. We went to both the hideaway beach (quite the trek but well worth it) and the other beach which is the black rock area. Amazing snorkeling. We will stay again in a heartbeat. Thank you to our hosts we are grateful for such a homey and spacious stay.

Thanks so much to Joe and Linda for sharing this amazing place with my family. Tons of recommendations (that we took them up on) that did not disappoint. It was quiet (the Moa had to go!) and serene and we love the lanai while eating breakfast or relaxing after a long day of activities. Mahalo!

Joe and Linda own the perfect spot.... Surrounded by vegetation, set off the road, bathed in speckled light and nature sounds. We walked to Pu'u Poa and Kenomene beaches, spent the better part of the day watching the kids learn to body board at Kalihiwai, the perfect beach cradled against the northern coast where the river joins the ocean. We loved the Shaka guided tours app to explore Waimea Canyon and Na Pali, and Captain Andy's was a real trip highlight. The kitchen and living room had everything we possibly needed, and the home was a perfect landing for our family. Mahalo!

The house was very clean, and well equipped with a great kitchen, beach gear and new comfortable furniture. We especially enjoyed the early morning light on the mountains, and the ocean bluff views right across the street. It was an easy walk to the beach below the Princeville Hotel. Mahalo, Joe and Linda!

Perfect 5 day stay! The villa was all set up to go and felt like a “home away from home.” It was exactly as described online. We ate meals in so really appreciated that the kitchen was furnished like I would my own. The location was great for all our outings. Thank you Joe and Linda!

It was a joy staying at Joe and Linda's home. Nothing beats the north shore, and this location is perfect. It is directly across the street from the popular sunset viewing area, and is within a very short walk to my favorite beach on the island, Hideaways Beach, which is great because the tiny parking lot there is always full. The home itself is immaculate, wonderfully decorated, and has everything you need for your vacation. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cookware you'll need and all the basic spices and oils for cooking. Beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. are all there, too. I loved sitting out on the lanai in the evenings and mornings. There's a fabulous view of Hanalei Bay, and the sounds of the birds, smells of the flowers, and fresh breezes were perfect from that spot. Joe and Linda are very quick and responsive to inquiries, and provide a wealth of information to make your Kauai vacation perfect. It is evident that they take great pride in making their home the best it can be for your vacation, and I feel like they genuinely care for their guests. I've stayed at many different places during my Kauai visits over the years, but this home is now at the top of the list and I will definitely stay here again in the future.

We had such a wonderful stay in Joe and Linda's home. The location is perfect: short walk to multiple beaches and an easy drive to restaurants, groceries, hiking, etc.. The home was in wonderful shape and it was so nice to sit out on the lanai and enjoy the view. Joe and Linda were great hosts, and provided very useful info on things to do. We would stay again in a heartbeat!

June 2021
To make a long review short, we had a great time here and the house and view was beautiful!! On the other hand, there is no AC (not even a window unit) and it was beyond hot, especially with a baby and it being in June! We had to leave windows open and fans running constantly due to no airflow. We also had several encounters with lizards and a baby cockroach but as stated in a previous review, it’s the tropics and critters are to be expected! If you don’t like bugs and being sweaty, this house isn’t for you! But if you’re okay roughing it a bit and having a beautiful view, this is definitely the place for you!! Again, we loved it, had a good time, and the owners were so so kind and responded quickly to any questions we had!

We really enjoyed our stay in Joe and Linda's home. Joe and Linda are thoughtful hosts. We enjoyed most of our meals on the lanai when we were not out exploring the beaches or hiking the coast. We really could not of asked for a more perfect place to be on vacation. Mahalo

July 2014
Staying in Linda and Joe’s home-away-from-home gave us the opportunity to visit “Old Hawai’i,” the Hawai’i that is characterised by nature. The view from the living room and the attached lanai (deck) is timeless, as if it could have been from a thousand years ago, and yet it changes from moment to moment. Seeing the mountains, waterfalls, and the ocean in Hanalei Bay, all at once, seems surreal. And you can sip a cold drink, eat breakfast, or just sit and stare at the changing scene for as long as you want. This view makes it easy to imagine dinosaurs running around on this coast. The vegetation that hugs the house and the birds and jungle fowl that roam freely make this accommodation more valuable than the price you pay in rent. And the best snorkeling beach on the whole of the island is right-across-the-street. Hop out of bed, grab snorkeling gear, and do the short hike down the hill to the beach. It was a dream come true for us. We would come back, make breakfast and then start a day of exploration! I could go on about Kaua’i; it lives up to the marketing line, “Welcome to Paradise!” This is old Hawai’i with the conveniences of contemporary life. The fans and louvered windows provide enough cool air for a night’s sleep on comfy. We appreciated the appliances and the beach gear. We appreciated that the carpets and hardwood felt clean, all of the linens and kitchen supplies are in good order and fully stocked. Walk right in and start living. We have rented other cottages; this is our first rental from people who actually stay in it. “We’ve got to do something about tracking all that sand in!” There is hose at the foot of the entry stairs to clean beach sand off feet, snorkel gear, boogie boards…. Linda and Joe are spectacular – straight forward, honest, caring, sharing, and with intent. Their love of Hawai’ian culture inspired us to learn how to read and pronounce words in Hawai’ian – with the apostrophes and the diphthongs. We spent one night counting the number of letters from the alphabet that are used in the Hawai’ian language, and then were able to confirm it while reading one of their books about Hawai’i. We fell in love with reading books and watching movies about Kaua’i. We hoped our visit to Kaua’i would be good and that our accommodation would not detract. Our visit was spectacular and our accommodation exceptional. This visit has impacted our lives greatly and it would not be the same visit to be stuck in a hotel room.

Our family stayed for 8 days and I must say...it was our best family vacation ever and be able to stay here is definitely icing on the cake! Joe was easy to deal with and all information was accurately described! Location is definitely convinience as we were able to walk to secret beach and queens bath and a short drive into Princeville ...really enjoyed Caplipso Resturant there! The place is very spacious and clean. Very comfortable and the breeze was nice during the evening! We took advantage of some of the beach equipment including the portable cooler. Very very close to the Princeville Adventure where we did a ride and hike excursion...best activity for sure as we did some horse back riding, hike and climb the trail and swim in the beautiful waterfall! We spent a day at Ke'e Beach as well (highly recommended) where we snorkelled and met a munk seal ...4 feet away...and very playful! Amazing! Kauai is definitely the island to explore natures and enjoy the cultures and relax! We will definitely recommend this place to all our families and friends as it is so convinience and comfortable. Best family vacation ever!

July 2013
My family of four stayed here for five nights. We absolutely loved everything about the place and the location. The owners were an absolute delight to work with and it is obvious that they love their home away from home. They were very prompt at answering any questions we had and so helpful throughout the whole process. They have so much love and respect for Kauai and that is evident in the furnishings, decor, art work, ornaments, crockery, music, books, linen and everything in this home. There is a fantastic variety of books about Kauai. There are movies to watch. There are games to play, beach mats to use. They even have binoculars for you to use. The house has such warmth and is in a spectacular location. We felt like we had our own treehouse in a rainforest. We loved the views from everywhere in the house. Every day we would take stunning photographs from our balcony of Hanalei Bay and the mountains. The views are amazing and exactly like this website shows you. We took photos of beautiful birds and beautiful rainbows. We loved the convenience of going across the road to capture stunning sunsets. Walking to nearby Hideaway Beach was also a highlight for us. The house itself was also clean, well maintained and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed walking down to the St Regis and having a convenient drink and coffee there. Kauai is a beautiful island everywhere you go and staying in this home just made our holiday even more memorable. If we are lucky enough to ever return to Kauai we would love to stay in this villa again. Next time we would love to stay longer!

Our 8 day family vacation was beyond expectation. The home in Hanalei Villa's was the perfect place to explore the north shore. Everything we needed was provided by the Birds...We found the large library of books on local destinations, the CD's of local music, and the necessary beach items like bathing mats and umbrella especially useful. The accommodations were immaculate and perfect for the four of us (couple w/ two adult daughters). We use many of the kitchen items i.e. blender, coffee grinder, cookware etc. The lanai constantly called us to gather and listen to the doves and take in the beautiful views. Our favorites were: Beach- Hideaways, by far the best snorkeling, most quiet and right below the house. Restaurant- Kalypso, in Hanalei, great food, good prices Sunset view- across the street! Thanks Joe and Linda for providing such a wonderful experience, we plan to return soon. B&E

November 2012
The condo had everything we need. We wanted to be away from the noisy road, and #37 is about as far away as you can get in HBV. The porch has a nice sunset view, as well as the viewpoint a that is a short walk across the street. Birds come to breakfast on the lanai - they like granola bits. The condo also has binoculars, which were useful for identifying birds in the trees. The kitchen is well-appointed, so you don't have to go out for dinner. Very relaxing place. Joe Bird is a delight to work with, welcoming you into their well-cared for home away from home.

June 2012
It was our first trip to Kaua'i and we were very happy to find this place. This gorgeous, nicely decorated, and well equipped villa was located just minutes away from beautiful beaches as well as Princeville shopping center. Joe, the owner, provided us with a lot of useful information from the beginning so we immediately knew what we want to see and where to go. We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to come back soon!

We stayed in this beautiful two-story villa for a week and could not have been happier. The villa is centrally located within the beautiful Princeville golf course area yet it feels a million miles away from anything - think Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. The place is situated so there are only neighbors to one side and nothing but huge trees and an amazing ocean/bay view right out the living room. The place was exceptionally decorated and had everything we needed - from boogie boards to umbrellas to coolers, etc. Hanalei Bay is just minutes away with everything you could need as well the convenience of the Princeville shopping center up on the corner. There's an amazing beach called Hideaway Beach right across the street too and about as close as you can come to feeling on a deserted island. The owner Joe was so easy and pleasant to deal with. We would go back in a heartbeat! LOVED IT!!!

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
