Discover paradise in Heavenly Hana, Maui, and surround yourself with the most breathtaking views in all of Hana.
Ekena means Eden in Hawaiian. This tropical paradise is perched high on a hill on nine acres of private property with 360 degree views of ocean, sky, coastline and the lush, green hills of Hana, Maui. Enjoy all the natural beauty that Hana has to offer from the comfort of a beautiful home that is impeccably maintained.
The views are vast and ever-changing. You can watch whales in season, rain showers blowing by, leaving brilliant rainbows in their wake, and listen to the songs of rare birds that enjoy our fruit trees. The grounds are a tropical delight of exotic flowers and delicious papaya, banana, avocado, guava, and macadamia nut trees. We invite you to our beautiful paradise!

The Jasmine suite can accommodate from one to four guests. With two large bedrooms & two bathrooms, Jasmine is perfect for 2 couples traveling together or for a family of four. Four person maximum please. Any children must be age 14 or older.

Although the Jasmine home is listed as a 2 bedroom, I only open the 2nd bedroom if you need it. There is an extra fee for the 2nd bedroom, based on the number of guests.

The beautiful Jasmine suite has everything you need for a delightful and refreshing vacation. All rooms in this home take advantage of the awesome ocean and coastal views. The spacious living room has large sliding glass doors that open onto your private ocean view deck. The Jasmine suite has two bedrooms with king or twin beds and each has its own full bath. The kitchen is large and fully-equipped except for an oven. We do have a large toaster oven for your use.
Ekena was previously listed as VRBO Property #15138 for several years. Read our excellent reviews to see how our guests love Ekena & Hana Maui.

Outstanding! Enjoyed our stay immensely, sat out on deck and felt we were the ones there. Just us, the rain forest and the birds. Great location and plenty to do during the day.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this lovely and spacious home. The living room and large wrap around deck look out to a panoramic view of foliage and ocean, just stunning, with birdsong galore. It made a peaceful and relaxing home base for exploring Hana’s beaches and hikes. Lily was kind, helpful, and easily available for advice. We highly recommend staying here and hope to return!

This was such an amazing space to stay after driving RTH! Gorgeous views, all around I was able to do morning Yin yoga, and meditate on the deck. It was so relaxing and wonderful. We could see whales breaching from the deck. Amazing place if you have time to stay in Hana! Lily was very respectful and responsive and we are so grateful for our three nights stay there.

We really enjoyed our time here. We spent 3 nights. Hosts were lovely people. Kitchen was well stocked and was great to have all the extras - coffee, spices, shampoos, etc. lots of towels, beach chairs, beach towels. The place is very large and made it very comfortable for 2 couples. Bedrooms on opposite side of home. Laundry facilities w soap and fabric softener!!! Highly recommend. Oh and sitting out of the deck over looking the landscape and ocean - what else could you ask for?!!

This was a lovely stay. Lily and Gray were wonderful hosts. It’s quiet. But listen for some lovely harp music and the glorious sound of the birds! The location is spectacular and the view is stunning. We found everything we needed. The horses were cool, munching away at the underbrush. Everything you need to cook simply is there. It’s the perfect place to unwind and relax and read books and go to the beach and ramble through the paradisiacal landscape of Hāna. We will miss it!

Loved the location. No street noise, relaxing and scenic. It was our home-base for cruising around Hana and beyond. Lily was there to greet us. It rained often, but that is to be expected in Hana. It certainly didn't hinder seeing the amazing beauty of this location.

This was a great place to stay with two couples. The location is quite remote and could use some updating and more comfortable furniture, but it makes for a relaxing and quiet setting with panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding countryside from anywhere in the home.

We enjoyed every moment at this beautiful condo. The view from the lanai (patio) is worth every penny! If you enjoy waking up to the sounds of birds and panoramic ocean & forest views, you'll love it here. Plan enough time to enjoy Hana and to slow down to listen to the birds & watch the sunrise & sunset from the lanai.

After a week of island hopping, we came to Hana for a family event. Ekena offered and delivered a peaceful setting and allowed us to relax and recharge. Mornings greeted us with great sunrises, view of the hills, ocean and light breezes and coffee. We took advantage of the on-site laundry upon our arrival. The amenities such as beach towels and umbrellas helped make our stay that much better. Thank you Lily and Gray!

May 2024
We love staying here. There was plenty of room to hang out and the views from the deck were amazing. Hearing the harp at sunset was a high point and made for a great Mother's Day for my wife. It was great staying in Hana as we could see many of the sites without having to cram it all in one day. There are plenty of options for food in the area. We weren't staying on the top floor and didn't have the 360 Degree view, but what we did have was great. This is an older house without air conditioning, so there are some parts of the house that are a little run down. The lights in the kitchen were a challenge to know how long to keep them on as there was a note saying leaving them on too long would blow a fuse. All in all, it was a great stay and we loved the house. Lily was a great host.

The view from the living room is one of the coolest views of any rental property I've ever stayed in. The sound of the birds in the morning was such a lovely wake up. The property is gorgeous w/ several beautiful Rainbow Eucalyptus trees. What a cool driveway! Perfectly located and close to the few things that are actually open in Hana lol. I'd absolteuly stay here again and Lily & Gray were perfectly lovely! Mahalo to them for a fantastic stay.

January 2024
The property was just a beautiful as the pictures. And the view was spectacular from the deck, or just sitting on the couch. We were on the wet side of the island in December so we expected a lot of rain. It was the tropical sort with sunshine in between rain showers. Always warm enough it didn't matter if I got damp. We were warned the house is remote so we brought groceries to last. There were lots of seasons, condiments, and even canned goods from past guests, so we would've have starved but plan ahead! Hana was lovely. There is a lot of pre-contact Hawaiian history here and enough natural wonders to fill in the days. The waves were pretty big so we kept off the few beaches we found. Would be better in the summer I suspect. Overall, a great time in Hana. Thanks Lilly!

Hana was a beautiful and peaceful place and this was the perfect home to match. The views from the deck are stunning. It is unbelievabley quiet and relaxing here, the perfect place to just unwind. The home and property were gorgeous with lots of convenient amenities like beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, etc. Be sure you’re back at the house for sunset, it is beautiful and Lily (the host) plays her harp, you won’t want to miss it!

June 2023
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property! The views were amazing and the property was stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. It is located close to the town of Hana, the black sand beach, the red sand beach, other local beaches and so much more! We wanted to have time to fully explore the road to Hana, and staying close to Hana allowed us to do just that. Ending each day on the porch, listening to Lily play the hard, while watching the sun set was so relaxing.

What a place! I don’t know what was better, the open concept layout and spaciousness of the unit’s interior, or the rounded deck that seems to span about 180 degrees of the outside. We were immediately struck by the design of the unit. When you walk in, it’s so open and modern looking. About half the unit’s walls are a combo of glass and screens, so it seems like you can see out in all directions. The kitchen was fantastic with lots of counter space and a large island. The bedroom was fantastic and its outer wall is all floor-to-ceiling window+screen. The outer deck is 2-3 floors up (even though the entry to the unit is conveniently at ground level). The deck must be about 100 feet end to end. It’s a magnificent view toward the Pacific from the deck, with about ¾ of a mile or so of seemingly pure rain forest in between … a gorgeous combination of scenic beauty. We had no complaints whatsoever. And we liked it so much we’ve rebooked it for a winter visit.

May 2023
The main living area is octagonal, which affords amazing views of both the ocean and the hills on either side. The deck is even longer than the main area. After a somewhat busy time in West Maui, we hung out here a lot, just chilling on the covered deck, doing yoga and stretching, and cooking. Sunrise (with the happiest birds ever), sunset, twilight, and even rainy times were perfect. We barely saw the owners - maybe a previous reviewer scared them off!

March 2023
This is an amazing place that's breath taking. Either our morning starts with rains or sun, the view looking out to the greens and the ocean is priceless. This house is very spacious and the kitchen is very well equipped. It's up on a hill that's surrounded with nature. Every morning we can hear the birds chirping. Lily was very helpful with information of places to go for meals. Thank you, Lily, for making our stay such a pleasant one. Mahalo! Alice and company

February 2023
This property is an odd mix of private (because it's back a long lane) and not private (because the owners/managers live on site and the door to the stairs between the upper and lower rental units is not lockable. It is very spacious inside and we enjoyed the views down to the water. If you are going to rent this unit, be aware that the managers are VERY serious about turning all the lights off before you leave. The entry is not lighted at all and the walkway is uneven (round concrete pavers) so we had left just the porch light on one afternoon when we went out, knowing that we would be back after dark. My 78-year-old mother-in-law had tripped over the pavers the previous night in the dark. When we returned, they had flipped the breaker and turned off all the lights in the common areas -- we had to call them to get the breaker flipped back on. Also, one morning my husband and niece went out without my mother-in-law and I, and the husband half of the manager couple was pounding on our door at 8:45 a.m. because we had the lights on in the kitchen, where I had been making breakfast. Apparently he had looked in the window and didn't see us (I was in the bedroom and my MIL was still asleep) and so he was trying to get in to turn the lights off. I understand that they don't want to waste electricity but it was weird and really made our stay kind of unpleasant. I would not stay here again myself, but I wouldn't *not* recommend this place -- you just should know what to expect.

We were blown away by the beauty of the view, layout of the property and incredibly maintained landscape. All in our party have travelled a lot and stayed in some nice places but agreed this was the most spectacular. On top of all that, the hostess, Lily, played her harp in the evening from and adjacent property making for a beautiful and serene experience. We would definitely all return without hesitation. While the property does not have an oven, it does have a stove top, microwave, grill and toaster oven which more than satisfied our needs. Thank Lily for sharing your wonderful property with us.

Second time, just as nice.

February 2022
We loved our stay at this amazing rental. From the mornings listening to the birds and looking at the incredible view- to the evenings sitting on the deck, sipping a drink and listening to Lily play the harp as the sky turned pink and orange. This is a beautiful setting and a comfortable rental. The view is the best! We cooked all our meals here. Although there is not .an oven, we had amazing meals and used the grill to cook fresh fish. Buy your groceries before you come to Hana, especially the fish or meat. We had an amazing stay here and hope to return!

I highly recommend staying here! Our family enjoyed every minute! It’s just near Hana and a great stopping point after traveling the road to Hana all day! Our hosts were wonderful and supplied beach chairs and such which was an added bonus. Our only issue was a lack of oven or grill for cooking, but we made do! I’ll certainly stay here again if we get back to Hana in the future!

The Ekena Jasmine property is the perfect place to stay in Hana. We enjoyed the beautiful panoramic view of the ocean and walking along the lush gardens listening to the birds. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the daylight fade and sitting in the living room watching the full moon rise. The property is very private and close to everything Hana has to offer. The property is very clean and Lily and Gray were promptly responsive to our emails. Our stay there was one that we will not likely forget.

January 2022
The property and views exceeded our expectations. Waking up every day to the expansive view of the ocean created a feeling of serenity. The kitchen was well equipped however there is no oven (not that we needed one). The caregivers/hosts were friendly and helpful. There is a laundry room next to the unit that was very much needed since we spent a lot of time at beaches . The hosts also had a supply of extra beach towels, beach chairs and snorkeling gear presumably left by other guests that could be borrowed. There are 2 stores in Hana but very limited supplies so it's important to bring food( especially meat) with you. Lots of fresh fruit available locally and a great variety of food trucks throughout town . We really didn't need to cook much. There was a restaurant and fruit stand/ store about a mile away that is excellent and has the best banana bread. The hosts are on the property so they were available and responsive to our needs but also respectful of our privacy so we didn't see much of them unless we initiated. Overall a great experience and we would return.

December 2021
Hana in contrast to La Haina, wet versus dry, is made visible in the lush green surroundings of the residence. An 1980's large pole house that sits overlooking the ocean and landscape you cannot be but impressed with the expansive views. The house is well stocked and convenient. The charcoal barbeque proven difficult to light in the moist days we were there. Bathrooms are a throwback to the 80's (peachy) but clean. AS with all wet climates there were plenty of spiders and insects if that is a worry for some. We had fun watching the host try to discourage visiting pigs.

November 2021
This is our second stay. We will be back. It took a bit for us Texans to get used to no air-conditioning but it is fine. Amazing view. Convenient to so many great things that the typical Hana Road traveler only gets to enjoy briefly. We avoided the crowds and spent a long time at Black Sand Beach, several water falls, and the road beyond Hana.

October 2021
The view is undeniably great. The place not so much. The photos online give the impression of a nice well maintained house. Nope. Everything has a worn dated look to it. In much of the kitchen countertop the grout is black. Track lights above the cooktop are layered with dirt. Lampshades rusting through the fabric. Baseboards are missing in much of the house. Louvered windows have more dirt and dead bugs than could have been accumulated if they were regularly cleaned. The bathroom has outdated pink/peach sink, toilet and tub with black mold that they have unsuccessfully tried to cover with white caulking. Bedroom slider did not close properly and cockroach came in at night. Obvious spiderwebs hanging from upper patio not cleaned away. We rented the lower "Jasmine" floor and were told they only rent one floor at a time for privacy. In reality the couple who are the caretakers/owners were using the upper floor ( I think they just move up & down depending on what is rented ). We have stayed in many Maui private rentals and do not have unrealistic expectations.

September 2021
Before we went on our trip, we tried to cancel due to covid and Hawaii government warnings abt traveling to the state. We were very wary, but Lily assured us we would be isolated and relatively safe. We are so glad that we kept our reservation because Lily was definitely correct. The home is very isolated on top of a hill looking over lush greenery and the ocean. Lily even treated us to a superb sunset harp performance. It was such a pleasant, magical experience. I am already planning my next visit and Would def stay here again.

August 2021
The property is as advertised. It had beautiful views of nature and the ocean. It was a perfect central location for all the local Road to Hana attractions (Wai'anapanapa State Park and Haleakala National Park being the main ones). The house is fitted with all the necessities. A word to the wise, the property does not have AC. It does have a couple fans we used at night and had no issue being comfortable. I would recommended this to anyone looking to stay in Hana.

Sara L.

We absolutely loved staying at this house. It has incredible views, better then you can tell in the listing. The house was comfortable, clean, peaceful and had everything we needed. Our family of 4 was grateful to spend time here.

July 2021
I was in Hana for my daughters wedding and would have liked to host a luncheon for the immediate family members. When I read no additional guest, I misunderstood that to mean no overnight stays. When I arrived I realized it meant NO EXTRA VISITORS PERIOD! My misunderstanding and it did not ruin the visit. The daily view was breathtaking and made for a totally wonderful Hawaiian experience. I would suggest an investment in some new beach chairs. The ones available have seen better days. Mahalo🙏🏻

Lily's place is fantastic. Came as advertised and can't beat the view. Hosts were very welcoming and gave us a week's worth of bananas from their tree - which were delicious! If you're lucky enough, you might hear Lily playing the harp from the top deck as the sun sets over Hana.

December 2019
I asked each member of our party to sum up this unit into 2 words: Unparalleled View; Adventure Begins....; Idyllic Paradise; Tranquil Retreat. The unit was clean. The view spectacular. The pictures don’t do it justice. For anybody who wants to visit Maui, to not spend at least a few days in Hana, is to cheat yourself. If we ever come back to Maui again, which is likely, we would definitely like to rent this place again

August 2018
Truly beautiful place with such amazing views of the mountains, gardens and ocean. Place was very large and roomy with two great sized bedrooms. Two full baths with tubs were great to have. The beds were so comfortable, I have trouble sleeping, but not while I was there. The kitchen was well stocked and there were tons of beach toys, snorkeling gear, chairs etc. The place was so quiet and peaceful, especially when Lily played her harp. Lily and Grey were very easy to work with. I would highly recommend the Jasmine Suites.

June 2018
Jasmine at Ekena was the first place we booked for our trip because it looked so impressive on VRBO. We had high expectations. Little did we know that our expectations would fall short of the experience we had in this wonderful Hana getaway. The views were spectacular! The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We were close enough to places like Wainapanapa Park, and the Seven Sacred pools to visit them without being rushed. Lily and Gray were there to greet us when we arrived and were wonderful hosts throughout our short stay. Lily's harp playing provided a wonderful musical soundscape and Gray took time to cut some fresh bananas for us. The breezes from the mountains were so refreshing that we had the doors and windows open almost all the time and probably wouldn't have used AC if they had it. Mahalo Lily and Gray, for a wonderful escape from the ordinary.

May 2018
My husband and I recently went to Maui for a late honeymoon. We stayed in Wailea for a few nights and then planned on staying in Hana for a few nights to experience both sides of the island. When we arrived at the Sea Breeze unit, which is the upstairs unit, we were immediately surprised by how warm it was. Lily was gracious enough to let us check-in early and we arrived a little after 12:30pm. The outside temperature was 84 degrees and the inside was also 84 degrees. There was absolutely no breeze that day which didn't help matters. Lily had already had all the doors and windows open and fans blowing for us. However, when the fans are blowing and there is no cold breeze, it's just circulating warm air. We are from Florida and are extremely tolerant of hot, humid weather but after a day outside hiking this was not pleasant to say the least. After cold showers and ice-water we hoped it would get better but it didn't. Even as the early evening came there was still no breeze and it was extremely warm. We tried staying outside on the outdoor deck which has a beautiful view, but the mosquitoes, ants and other bugs drove us back inside. The screen doors do not have good periphery seals so bugs were getting inside and biting us also. I noticed more bugs than I can count inside including a spider by my nightstand. This was definitely not the honeymoon I was expecting! Trying to sleep that night was horrendous with the bugs, hard uncomfortable mattress and hot air. We decided early that morning we couldn't do another day here so we called Lily and told her the situation. She said she was very sorry but understood. After we had already left, I received an email from her which was very sweet and she said she wish she had known so she could try to fix the situation. She also said they've never had this problem before which I find very hard to believe. Unless you have window units for hot days like this, and a screened in porch to help with the bugs, there would have been no way to help the situation. I asked to at least have a partial refund for the day we didn't stay but she said that wasn't possible. This was disheartening. I understand she would be losing money, but at the same time this was our honeymoon and after the many issues that arose, I felt we were justified in having some of our money refunded for that day. Below I listed some pros and cons. Pros: beautiful view, washer/dryer, full kitchen Cons: hot, bugs, hard uncomfortable mattress

Ekena will absolutely blow you away. We have stayed in Hana before, so we know the area quite well, but we did not know about Ekena, I am so glad that we found it! The views, the setting, the gardens, the peacefulness, the song of the birds and, to top it all off, the absolutely superb property. Great architecture and immaculately maintained, with everything that you need for a great stay. Robin and Gaylord are most graceful, friendly and helpful hosts. We were only able to stay for five days this time - WAAYY too short. We will be back soon for a longer stay!!

It rained, if not poured, every day of our 5-day stay in Hana at Ekena, and it was still perfect. You walk into the house and right away the 180 degree view takes your breath away. Watching thunderstorms, countless rainbows, and the occasional sunrise and sunset from the main room was such a pleasure. And Hana itself, which is so close to Ekena, is a tranquil little town with some beautiful sights and hikes nearby. If you really want to take a few days to feel like you've disappeared from the real world and are floating in a tropical bubble, then you've got to stay at Ekena. The bedrooms are comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, the manager so friendly. I really look forward to returning.

The mountain and ocean views are excellent. If you're looking for a quiet retreat, this is the place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. Being so close to Hana's attraction is worth the price of the stay. One could sit on the spacious deck for hours without a care in the world. This is the place to unplug from the typical tourist resort type of stay. Load up your snacks and groceries in a cooler for the multi hour drive to Hana because you can't buy the simplest of items in Hana. The food trucks in Hana are wonderful. Braddah Hutts BBQ has great plate lunches. Ae's thai kitchen is simply amazing. The Barefoot Cafe has good and affordable breakfasts. There main restaurant in Hana across from the green colored Hasegawa general store has very good food but it's overpriced. Robin was out of town when I stayed but I really enjoyed the hospitality which Gaylord extended, he's a super nice man! The black sand beach is a 5 min drive away and the famed red sand beach is about a 10-15 min drive from Ekena. Great property, great staff, Mahola for a wonderful stay!

My friends and I were on a girls' getaway and spent 4 nights in the Jasmine suite. The house is very clean and well-stocked with kitchen items. We enjoyed using the provided beach chairs, boogie boards, and beach towels. The washer & dryer was nice to have too, and laundry soap was provided. The views from Ekena are amazing. It was tempting to sit on the porch all day long! However, we decided to enjoy exploring Hana: Oheo Gulch (take the 4 mile hike along the Pipiwai Trail!), Red Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, Koki Beach, Hana Farms stand (banana bread is the best around--we recommend the pineapple banana bread!), Coconut Glen's (great ice-cream, strange service), Troy's plate lunch (near Koki Beach), etc. So much to see, do, and eat! :) If you want fresh chicken or fish, be sure to get it on your way to Hana. The local markets in Hana only had fresh beef. We were able to purchase fish from a local fisherman during our stay and it was delicious. Back to Ekena, Jasmine suite: There are two rooms: one had a king bed, and one had 2 twin beds (that can be made into a king if you desire). All the beds were comfortable. There's no a/c, but there are fans all around the house & plenty of windows and slider doors to keep things at a comfortable temperature. The Wi-Fi worked really well, but there's no cell phone reception. We didn't mind a bit! If you do stay at Ekena, be sure to wake up to watch the sunrise at least once while you're there. It's beautiful. The location is great: about 2 minute drive to the town of Hana and about a 35-40 minute drive to Oheo Gulch. So nice to be able to get to the gulch earlier than all the day-trippers! We loved our stay at Ekena and highly recommend it. Robin was incredibly helpful with our questions and so pleasant to talk to. It was a pleasure meeting her and Gaylord. Mahalo for everything! :) -Melanie, Sharon & Christine

While Hana is typically known for its multicolored beaches, its twisty road and jungle scenery, Ekena is just as much an attraction as any of these things. It is a gem of a house set high on a hill just outside of Hana, and its main features include a huge deck with unsurpassed views of the Hana jungle and ocean beyond, unbelievable grounds with endless tropical plants and trees (including a particularly beautiful patch of Rainbow Eucalyptus trees), and two large bedroom suites on opposite ends of the house for total privacy between groups or couples. I found every moment in Ekena to be immensely peaceful and relaxing, and the ever-changing weather - including spontaneous torrential rainfall - just added to the charm. One of the highlights was sipping a glass of wine on a crystal clear night out on the patio while watching the moon rise behind a group of the trees to the east. It was a magical moment in a magical place. While staying in Hana we visited Hamoa Beach (a beautiful jungle beach), Luana Spa (great massages in a traditional Hale on a cliff) and 'Ohe'o Gulch (a tourist trap, but a must-see nonetheless), kayaked and snorkeled in a coral reef in Hana Bay, and had numerous wonderful home cooked meals thanks to Ekena's full kitchen and dining area. I didn't get the chance to meet Gaylord, but I talked with his wife Robyn several times and she was great to chat with about the house, their history and Hana in general. You get the distinct feeling at Ekena, and in Hana in general, that life is much simpler, slower, and in many ways more fulfilling than it is in the congested big cities and suburbs where most of us come from. There were only a couple VERY minor negatives, and I want to stress that these did not detract from our experience at all, but I thought they would be helpful to note for future guests. Because you're high on a hill, sound travels farther than you might think, and some nights we heard several dogs barking rather energetically from down below. It really wasn't a big deal but it did jolt us out of our "Ekena trance" from time to time. Also, be prepared for possible insects like cockroaches and spiders in the rooms. This is to be expected in a jungle habitat so we were prepared heading in, but that didn't stop our teenage daughter from having a mini heart attack when she saw a giant (but harmless) cane spider in her room one night. Again, nothing worth truly worrying about. Ekena is a truly incredible place and highly recommended.

Our first three night on Maui we spent here and we could not have been happier. This is a beautiful little spot in the perfect location in Hana. Robin was the perfect host who greeted us when we pulled in the driveway after a nerve racking drive to Han at night in the rain. The accommodations were wonderful. The views were wonderful to wake up to. More room than we knew what to do with. I should note that beach chairs, boogie boards and ponchos are available with the room. We grilled some steaks one night on the grill since dining is limited in Hana. If headed to Hana again, would not hesitate to stay here again.

After 3 days at a resort in Wailea, we spent 4 utterly relaxing days at Ekena (Jasmine) and in Hana, enjoying Koki beach in the morning and cooking island style dinners in the afternoons from a copy of "What Maui Likes to Eat" that we picked up in Wailea. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need equipment-wise - graters, garlic presses, etc. The views from the deck were gorgeous - you could spend all day there just sipping wine and enjoying the ocean breeze, the rainbows, and, if you get up at night, the stars, which were pretty amazing. Hana town, what there is of it, is about 5-10 minutes away, and it's easy to pop over to Travaasa for a drink if you want, or go island style at Koki's huli-huli chicken, A's Thai food, or any of several other small roadside joints. Robin was helpful and inconspicuous. You can get basics and beer/wine locally, but its a vacation home, not a hotel or B&B, so bring your own food and spices from the Safeway and Ah Fooks Asian grocery near the airport in Kahului. Very good beach chairs and boogie boards come with the place, as does a washer/dryer, so you really don't need to bring much else. Next time we'll bag the resorts, which could be anywhere, and just come back here. (PS. The "I'd recommend this property for" list doesn't have the right category. I'd recommend this property for experienced travelers who enjoy a laid back, relaxing escape.)

This was a wonderful stay! A beautiful home, fantastic views and very convenient to all the sites in the area. Our stay was in the main upstairs part of the home. We were traveling with another couple and the home was laid out perfect for two couples. There is a master bedroom at each end of the house with a large kitchen and living room in between. Both have exquisite large bathrooms. Ours was well stocked with fresh linens and had a large soaking tub and separate shower. The kitchen was great for cooking and well equipped with a separate dining area. The living room was well appointed and comfortable. But the highlight was the deck with panoramic views of the hills and the ocean and if your lucky enough to catch a clear night, it's a great location for star viewing with little ambient light. Nothing in the area that we looked at or saw during our visit comes close to this place. Our hostess Robin was a wonderful person and very helpful in advice of what to do in the area, and even though the proprietors live on the property, it was never an issue, we always felt alone and private. With so much to see and being such a beautiful area, I highly recommend you pass on the one day trip up and down the Hana Highway and stay in Hana, it's well worth it!

This place is so amazing! We have stayed here many times and every time we never want to leave. If you like tranquil, relaxing, quite and getting away from it all this is the place for you. Take the road to Hana and end up in a magical land. Robin and Gaylord are fabulous host and great people. It was a wonderful time. Enjoy!

This is one of the most amazing rental properties that I have rented. From our booking with Robin, to our greeting by Gaylord, the mgrs and his dog Raz, the whole process was very enjoyable and professional. The home itself is absolutely stunning and gorgeous. The views from inside the home and from the deck is like heaven. We spent the last few days of our honeymoon at this home and couldn't have dreamt of a better place to do it. We will def be back soon. Thanks Gaylord and Robin. Your home is a truly unique place that can't be compared to a hotel stay. The home is fully stocked w everything u could ask for and very clean.
