We had the most fantastic stay at Hana Ocean Palms. Albert was a wondeful and generous host. The house was perfect for our family of 6 (my husband, myself, our 3 young adult kids, and our newest member a soon to be son-in-law). The home is situated in the perfect spot just a few minutes from Hana Town, 2 minutes drive from beach, and a quick walk to the Sacred pools. Gardens surrounding the home are beautiful, lush, and full of fresh fruit. Our 3 nights at this home were our favorite part of our entire trip to Hawaii.

Pictures do not do this rental justice as it's very accommodating in regards to hosting areas, beds and location. Albert even greeted us after our later arrival which was appreciated. There are 3 separate sleeping areas (bedroom, front porch and back porch) and I must say the front porch was quite peaceful listening to the lush garden blowing in the evening wind. I'd gladly stay here again and would highly recommend to others.

Loved all of it! From the 70's retro look inside gave you a feeling of being younger and back in the 70's when things were much simpler. The beds were comfy, the shower was nice (soft water) and the kitchen was well stocked. We stayed two nights in Hana and also visited family just up the road by St. Peters church. The hammocks were a great relaxing addition and was used a lot. The property manager was very nice to work with and the grounds were immaculate. We will be back, Loved It!

We had a wonderful time. The accommodations were fantastic. The only problem with the tub was slippery. We did not find a bath mat. Also, we were unaware the caretaker was on property. She was lovely, but it would have been better that we knew someone was on property. (sorry women with suspicious minds:)

This little gem was such a special find, and our stay was nothing short of magical. Albert was responsive and the house was beyond clean and comfortable. Our favorite parts were the bed on the lanai and the outdoor shower (a magical experience in itself!). The beds were comfortable, and it was truly one of the most peaceful places we’ve ever stayed. We’ll definitely be back!

What is not to love about a screened in front porch with a hammock chair, were you can wake up to the sound of the tropical birds and let lush foliage around you? The morning outdoor shower was an amazing experience , although the inside one is just fine if you prefer. Renee, the caretaker, is in an attentive and thoughtful person. Very conveniently located near the National Park and the Venus Pools.

Amazing property and location. Its a true rainforest/jungle feel. Host was excellent. Right across the street is the Venus pool. Right down the road either way is the Black sand beach and Waimoku National Park with the Bamboo Forest and Waterfall. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hana Ocean Palms. The property has all the amenities and more. We enjoyed finding our own little favorite spots in the house to hang out. Albert is super nice and left bananas from the garden for us to enjoy. Venus Pool is just right across the street. We will definitely stay longer next time.

What a lovely place! The house is so nice, beautiful wood everywhere, everything works, gives a very warm “home” feeling! The location is fabulous - just a few miles from Haleakala NP and steps away from the Venus Pools. The owners are really lovely, friendly people!

Perfect location for visiting Hana, Haleakalā National park and Venus Pools were across the street! Furniture was a little dated but beds were comfortable. Plenty of room in the front yard for the kids to run and explore. Really appreciated having coffee and a washer/ dryer. Overall great place for East Maui adventure.

Best place to stay on the whole island if your looking for a place to get off the grid for a minute, relax, and do a complete reset. Not the right place if you are looking for a touresty experience.

The property and host were amazing. The property is a tropical paradise, highly recommend this rental if you want to have a spiritual and the most amazing experience while visiting Hana. My only regret is not being able to stay longer than the week we were here.

We loved our 2 nights in Hana in this little bungalow. It is very comfortable, clean, and welcoming. It was SO relaxing after 10 days of beaches and crowds.
It is very remote compared to what many of us are used to (which was part of the charm for our family). Just know that you will be 15+ minutes from ANYTHING and that you are in a rain forest. This house is super clean and still had friendly little geckos inside from time to time - you just can’t do anything about them, they are a part of life out there. This made our Road to Hana trip relaxing and wonderful. We also really enjoyed chatting with Albert, the owner when he stopped by to check on things.

Such a perfect stay! I didn’t realize how close the house was to the beach - just across the street from a popular swimming hole. House was so perfect - cozy and so quintessential. We were actually a big group — four adults and four kids, including a tot - and we fit great. House was well equipped for cooking and for water adventures. Host was so friendly and responsive. Thanks for an awesome stay. And… we LOVED doing the full round trip road to Hana. Worth it! Not hard!

We loved this place and wish we could have stayed longer. We booked two nights because that was all that was available and we thought that would be enough for Road to Hana but in retrospect I would have stayed an entire week. It's just perfect. It's definitely not a hotel, and for those complaining about bugs, they clearly didn't do their research. That said, there was far less than we expected (perhaps that's because we camp in northern Ontario!) I'd take the sense of living in nature over a sterile hotel any day. We were two couples and one pre-teen who loved sleeping on the porch. We hope to return!

This property was incredible! It is everything you would want out of your Hawaii experience. We weren’t totally prepared for all the mosquitoes 😆 but it is the tropics. So I’m not sure what we were thinking. I don’t know if it was Albert, or a previous tenant, but there were citronella coils that were a game changer. My kids loved the outdoor shower and our lizard house guests! We would love to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, felt like we were in the middle of the rainforest with no one else for miles. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture. We were afraid it would be hot for sleeping but fans made it comfortable. There is a mounted fan in the back bedroom but a ceiling fan in that bedroom and the front and back porches would make it even better. Ceiling fans in front bedroom and living room were perfect. Loved the outdoor shower. Even though it only has one bathroom there was never a problem since there was the outdoor shower.
We had to change the dates for staying there and Albert was very responsive and made the change easy.
Last visit to Hana we stayed in a different bungalow which was nice but would certainly stay at Hana Ocean Palms next time.

Perfect forest bungalow. Really enjoyed the sleeping porches. Located just across the street from an amazing natural pool, Venus pool, provided rock jumping and swimming and hours of entertainment for our family. It was perfect for a 3 night stay so we had the chance to explore all Hana has to offer. Also the property manager was super sweet and helpful. We will definitely stay here again during our next stay on Maui!!

Wonderful family bungalow for a quiet relaxing Hana vacation. It easily houses 4 adults and 1 baby. The mosquitoes ate us alive so we didn’t get to enjoy the outside as much, but the screened patios and living room were wonderful to read a book and play games. Oh, and don’t leave anything out — a rodent or giant gecko (haha) definitely ate our banana bread!

The online pictures did not do it justice..,lush gardens, cozy reading nooks, dreamy hammocks, wonderful dining area, comfortable bedding …the clock strikes midnight and the “critters” aka rats come out…literally. Sleeping was a challenge given the running around and knocking over these pests (not the critters but the actual rats) were doing throughout the night. Even though we respected the house rules regarding putting away all food at night, the rats would come out anyway and disrupt our sleep and our peace of mind in beautiful Hana. Furthermore, if you want to secure your belongings while on an outing don’t count on it. The lock box for the house key did not work and in poor state.Regrettably, we won’t be returning despite the surrounding beauty.

Staying on that side of Maui was a dream. Driving to Hana and having time to do anything plus drive back out is almost impossible. By staying at Albert's we were able to do the hike at the Kipahulu area of Haleakala National Park. Albert's property is a little primitive but unique and as long as you go into it thinking it is an adventure you will have a great experience.

We had such a nice and relaxing stay here. It’s right across the street from a natural pool, which was a highlight for us. The property manager gave us fresh fruit and was incredibly welcoming. The place itself is super cool and private. I absolutely loved it. Make sure you pack food before making the trek to Hana, as there are only a few stores and everything is incredibly expensive.
The only negative is that the house had quite a few bugs, so if that’s not your thing then you probably shouldn’t stay here. The shower would be full of bugs minutes after cleaning it out. The place could probably use a deep clean for sure. There are definitely birds or other critters living in the attic, so don’t be scared if it sounds like they’re in the house.
The lock for the glass slider is a little finicky and took us a few minutes to figure out. A note explaining how to use it would be super helpful!
Overall, I’d stay here again and definitely recommend it.

This place has such a great vibe! Our family of 4 (kids 16 + 12) were so confortable in the bungalow. We arrived after traveling the back side of Haleakala to find a beautifully prepared oasis. Clean accommodations, fresh flowers, nice welcome note, and a bottle of Prosecco.
The bungalow is nicely appointed with lots of areas to hang out. The location is ideally located off the road, with easy access to Hana.
Beach supplies, an outdoor shower, and gas bbq were all pluses.
If this place is available during your stay, you can stop searching and just book it!

This was a great location in Hana. It is directly across from the Venus Pool, which is a great swim spot. It’s also nice to stay in Hana because you are then able to arrive earlier to park at places. The bungalow is very cute with ample space. Thanks!

Great stay in Hana, a magical place worth staying in not just driving through in one day! House is a rustic bungalow as others have said a few rooms are mostly a screen room, and some critters will be seen and heard. Great caretakers live behind the house and gave us awesome local recs. Owner very responsive! Can’t wait to come back to Hana another time!

Our caretakers truly took care of us. Eric and Hannah were nothing short of amazing. They provided fresh fruit every day, stopped in to see how we were doing, offered great suggestions on activities and dining, and were delightful overall.
It takes a few days to shake off the world and let Hana sink in - the bungalow plays a huge part in this transition. From Alaska, our appreciation and need for the outdoors probably surpass the average traveler. The grounds were beautiful and inviting. The abundance of open screened windows made it feel as if we were connected to nature and allowed us to wake every day to the sound of birds and fall asleep to the sounds of the night. We made memories for a lifetime.

Bungalo very spacious and open. Comfortable furniture and tastefully decorated with some quirky islands touches. Short walk to cliffs and beach. Property has abundance of palms, fruit trees and flowers. Just step outside and pick a fresh banana or papaya. Owner very helpful and friendly. Will definately rent this property again.
