Whaler studio 1063 met our needs very nicely. Great location right on the beach. Short walk to Black Rock for snorkeling. Enough shade at the pool. It was busy, but not overcrowded. The Tennis Court that was available when we wanted to play. The studio is not the most luxurious, but it had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. Everything worked. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the balcony overlooking Kaanapali Beach. We could have used the available grills for dinner, but chose to eat out at nearby restaurants. The owner, Bill did a great job in making our stay a pleasure. Overall, highly recommended!

My husband and I loved this condo! Great location and wonderful views from the lanai! Even saw whales spouting in the distance one evening! Being on the 10th floor made for great views both directions! The Bose radio was wonderful to have to listen to music while we prepared food and ate meals. Great added touch!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Bill's property prior to attending a work event at the Westin next door. The location, room, and view were perfect! My favorite part about our stay was hanging out on the balcony (or lanai) watching the boats go by. You can hear the live music from the Hula Grill which made me feel like I was a part of the action. You can also hear the A/C units from the Whalers Village which didn't bother me, but know it would bother some people. The location made it easy to visit the beach, watch the sunsets, and walk to shopping and dining. The staff was very welcoming and the room felt like our home away from home. Although we enjoyed our stay at the Westin, we have already been talking about going back to Bill's property and have recommended it to several family members. Thanks for everything, Bill!

My husband and I stayed in 1063 for our 10 year anniversary and it was absolutely perfect. The condo was clean and inviting with a beautiful lanai where we sipped our coffee in the mornings and watched the beautiful sunsets in the evenings. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and there was plenty of beach of beach gear (chairs, umbrella and boogie board). The owner was quick to respond if we had any questions and a pleasure to work with. We will be back!

This place was perfect for us. Had everything we needed, and was located in an ideal spot with access to shopping, restaurants, excursions/activities all without needing to drive. We had a car to check out the rest of the island of course, and parking was a breeze.
The facilities overall were excellent, staff all friendly and accomodating. The condo fit the bill (no pun intended) for us. More than enough space, internet was good, bed was amazing, bathroom was great and the lanai became our favourite spot to eat breakfast and take in a view of the early morning activities.
When we return, this will be the first place we try to book.

My wife grew up in San Diego, so when my parents surprised us with a honeymoon in Maui, my wife was a little concerned. Shoe would say, "I grew up going to the beach." While San Diego is nice, it does not compare with the beauty of Maui. The condo was absolutely perfect. The view on the lanai gave us the option of watching the sunrise over the mountains or watch the sunset over the ocean. The beach was pristine. The Whaler gave us the flexibility to eat some of our meals in the condo which allowed us to splurge on some nicer meals. The boardwalk is a perfect way to spend the day exploring the othe properties. Any of the poolside bars are excellent for a refreshment. Another perk is the easy availability of sailboat cruises that pick you up right in front of the Whaler. We did a sunset cruise and a snorkel cruise.
If you are looking at this propoerty, just book it. Don't look any farther. Bill was a great host and the communication from him was 100% perfect.

Overall, fantastic stay! Location is spectacular. The place is very clean. Communication was great.
Only note is the lanai overlooks Whalers Village. This is mostly a plus, because of all the conveniences. However, their are two restaurants right below the unit with commercial exhaust fans blowing most of the day/night. And, in the am, their were a number of trucks (backing in) to make deliveries. While it was not as serene as we’d hoped, it was still an awesome place and the smells from the restaurants were fantastic! :)

We are so glad we stayed here! The location is absolutely perfect for West Maui. It is located directly on the beach; so, you simply need to walk outside the building and you're there. It's also located directly next to the Whaler's Village, which is full of little shops and eateries; so, you always have plenty of options. Plus, the sun sets on this side of the island; so, we always had a front row view of the beautiful colors at night. The unit was great too, and we very much appreciated the beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards, as well as the comfy bed and the AC. This is the first time we booked a condo using VRBO for a vacation and to be honest this has changed our view on booking stays for vacations. We will now check with VRBO first because not only is it cheaper but there is more for a personal interaction with an owner then there usually is with a major hotel chain. The room itself was excellent. We had beach chairs, boogie boards and some snorkeling gear at our disposal. Owner provided ice and plenty of dinner and silveware. The room itself was very comfortable and had a warm island feel. Bathroom was clean and well lit. I would definitely book this room again next time we return to Maui.

We had an absolutely lovely time at the Whaler 1063. It’s clean and well cared for, comfortable, and has a beautiful view from the balcony where you can hear music drift on from the nearby restaurants. We appreciated the blackout curtains that helped our early morning jetlag. There were beach chairs and umbrellas for our convenience and everything was stocked for cooking needs (more than the usual rental)! Not to mention the greeting and interaction from staff at the Whaler itself was lovely and more personal than we expected. There are plenty of amenities there as well, like a spa and gym, etc.
The beach it sits on was perfect with such soft sand and is not overcrowded, and it’s right next to snorkeling, food, and shopping.
Bill was very communicative although we didn’t have any issues. It felt like home and we definitely agreed we would stay there longer next time!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this thoughtfully provisioned and well-kept studio on the 10th floor of tower 2 at The Whaler. The owners clearly take good care of their unit and have put a bunch of energy into making sure that when you go looking for something in the kitchen, the bathroom, or even for something random like a sewing kit because your sunhat needs a quick repair - the thing you need is there!
The bed is very comfortable and the other furniture is in good condition and also comfy. Touches like the use of several nice quality beach chairs and good beach umbrellas really rounded out our good impressions.
The unit was SUPER clean when we arrived and there are also cleaning supplies in both the kitchen and bathroom so we could keep the unit tidy during our 10 day stay. The fridge is quiet - no loud compressor noises or anything like that, and the dishwasher is a late-model Bosch that works superbly AND is super quiet.
I think it almost goes without saying that the location is fantastic for exploring the Black Rock and Ka'anapali area. With a five minute walk up the beach to great snorkeling, and a two minute walk to some tasty restaurants, it's hard to think of anyplace I'd rather stay!

Whaler's Village in Ka'anapali was an excellent vacation destination and our condo (Whaler 1063) was absolutely lovely - fabulous views of the beach and ocean, the steady sound of the surf, and all the amenities of home. Our unit was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Whaler's Village is a very safe area, and extremely family-friendly too. Many shops and restaurants were close as well. We'd highly recommend this condo!

From the moment we pulled up to The Whaler we were greeted with smiles and lei's. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We passed through the lush green courtyard to Bill's 10th floor unit and were immediately in awe of the view - you can hear the birds chirp as soon as you open the double sliders. The unit was clean and had everything you could possibly need for a Hawaii getaway. We didn't use the pool much, since you are literally on one of the best beaches!! Bill has some beach chairs that came in handy during our stay. There is a small gym, day spa, concierge and ample garage parking. It was nice being so close to The Whaler Village; MonkeyPod makes a mean Mai Tai! You're also right next to black rock for snorkeling/cliff jumping if you're the adventurous type. Lahaina Front Street is a hop, skip and a jump away with the most adorable shopping, restaurants, and activities. Undoubtedly, we will be back!

This condo is nicely kept, clean condo with the owner providing some nice amenities such as beach chair & beach parasol for the condo users to use when they go out to a beach. The bedding was very comfortable, and ligting system in the condo worked well. Free washer & dryer just outside of the condo is very convenient, and the owner provided detergint pods for cloth washing as well as dish washing. AC worked out efficiently, and so does all the appliances. All in all, I would highly recommend this condo. At the end of my stay (this is the first time that I rented directly from the owner without ever referring to VRBO previously), as I searched VRBO for a comparable condo's with ocean views at the Whalers, I did find several other ocean view condo's in high floors with lower pricing than this unit- I should note this for what it is worth.
I would say , though, that my experience with the owner, Dr. Bill Rudolph, was a wonderful experience, always straight, no games, and prompt with responses.

We loved staying at the Whaler. It really is the best location, right in front of a great beach for snorkeling or enjoying the sun and sand. The Whaler property seems to be recently redone, was clean and fresh. All the staff was polite. We liked that there was a washer/dryer for use (and free!) on our floor. The Whaler 1063 unit was clean and furnished with all the necessary amenities plus some. We were glad there were two beach umbrellas. We will definelty stay in the Whaler again in the future!

We have stayed in a number of different condos at the Whaler over 39 years. This tied with one other for the best combination of value and beauty. The condo is very clean and nicely decorated. The views are spectacular. The owner provides a great amount of information to the client. If you are a first time visitor this would be very helpful. If you are a swimmer and new to Maui, the swimming beach from the Whaler down to Black Rock is the best I have every seen. Very safe and the water is clear, and you never no when a giant sea turtle might swim under you. I highly recommend this condo and this location.

This property couldn't be any better. Elevators were quick, so hardly any wait from the 10th floor. Condo was so well stocked, did not need the spices we bought. Near everything. Refreshing pool, have your own beach chairs! Plenty of space to fit all our belongings. Free washer and dryer with soap and dryer sheets provided. Dishwasher with soap provided. Perfect!
Our favorite happy hours were at Hula Grill and Duke's. Breakfast at the Gazebo-but be in line by 7ish! Dinners we loved were at the Sea House and Halii Maile. Have done both sunrise and sunset at Haleakala and neither is more beautiful! With sunset, you don't have to get up at 2am!!!

This was not our first stay in this unit, and we certainly hope to visit again. The owner is terrific to work with and does everything possible to make your holiday perfect.
Our goal was to have a relaxing beach holiday, and this unit is perfect as it provided beach chairs and a very good beach umbrella as well as a cooler and a number of paperback books. The kitchen is well stocked with all the appliances you need, the king size bed is extremely comfortable, the television is excellent with a large number of channels, and the unit is very nicely decorated. The unit has a terrific view overlooking Whalers Village and the ocean. Watching the sunset from the lanai and listening to the music from the nearby restaurants can not be beaten.
The Whaler condo complex has a library as well, and also contains a spa and exercise room, beach towel service, morning coffee and afternoon iced tea in both the lobby and the pool area. This is all included in the resort fee.
Whalers Village has shopping from high end to stores for budget conscious shoppers. There are a number of restaurants and a small food court if you don't want to cook, and the ABC store has a small grocery section, as well as a selection of alcoholic beverages in addition to their regular supply of souvenirs, clothing and beach supplies. Nearby hotels a few minutes walk away also have restaurants and small shops in them. Whalers Village has undergone a few changes in the past couple of years, and there is now a climbing structure for children located on the lower level where the stage used to be. There are often still performances in the area as in the past.
Historic Lahaina is only a short drive or a $2 bus ride away. And a $4 daily bus pass allows you to travel almost anywhere in Maui.
We very highly recommend booking this unit if you are holidaying in Maui. You will not be disappointed!

This was my husband and my second trip to Maui and first time staying at a VRBO/Homeaway property. We were a little nervous that we might miss the hotel amenities that we had our first trip 4 years ago (we stayed at the Hyatt for our honeymoon) but in fact, it was just the opposite. This property had a nicer beach area, on-site rental access to paddleboards, snorkel gear, etc. and amazing restaurants and shopping right next door. The owners are very quick to respond if you have questions and have the place fully stocked with beach chairs, mats, coolers, etc. Also have a hair dryer and curling iron so save yourself the space packing! There is a beautiful pool area and never had an issue getting 2 chairs together - even the covered ones which I thought would be difficult to nab. We definitely plan to come back to Maui and would happily stay at this property again and pack half as much. There is a free washer/dryer on each floor although we did not end up using it. We also had a friend island hop over here to visit us and she was able to park at The Whaler as our guest for free all day. Overall, truly excellent experience. Highly recommended. One last thing - the view is unbeatable. You might think you want to face the ocean but this stunning balcony displayed breathtaking mountain views to the left and beautiful ocean views to the right. I wouldn't change a thing.

This is my husband's and I second time staying at The Whaler in Bill's unit. The unit is clean, maintained, and has every amenity you can think of for your cooking needs. It is great as well because he has beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers to use at the beach, so there is no need to rent them. The view from his room is amazing (ocean to one side and mountains to the other)! On the weekend during the evening, you can hear the live music playing from the Hula Grill. Bill is great to work with and has great communication. We look forward to our next visit and will stay at Bill's condo again!

My wife and I just wrapped up our first trip to Maui where we stayed at the Whaler 1063, and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The place is extremely quiet at night, the beach isn't overly crowded, and the condo comes stocked with everything you need. This includes beach umbrellas, lounge chairs, coolers, an ice maker, anything you can think that you might need for a comfortable stay. The Whaler resort sits along a line of resorts on Kaanapali Beach and faces the mountains, with its rear to the beach. On multiple nights, my wife and I packed a cooler with champagne and a couple of chairs to watch the beautiful sunset. You will not be disappointed by staying here--we fully plan to return!

My wife and I spent 14 wonderful days here and enjoyed it immensely. What you see on Bill's web site is exactly what you will walk into. The unit was well maintained, clean, and hospitable. It has everything you could possibly want. Bill has thought of all the things that make this Condo special for all his guest. I could run down a long list of amenities but I'd just be repeating what other guests reviews have said. The location is perfectly situated close to restaurants, golf, shopping, parasailing, snorkeling and all other kinds of beach activities (All within a very short walk). The views from the lanai are fantastic from waking up to a beautiful sunrise coming over the mountains to a day ending magnificent sunset over the ocean. You will be able to hear music from the Hula Grill and Leilani's from happy hour into the evening, but not to worry the music ends at approximately 9 P.M. You will see catamaran's coming and going for daily activities and evening sunset sails, just too many things to mention them all here.
The whalers staff was friendly and always eager to help. Their facilities are well maintained and things like free towel exchanges for the beach, and pool along with free beverages (non-alcoholic) morning, noon, and night are very nice touches. With parking coming at a premium on Maui the under ground parking garage is also a great part of the property.
Would we stay in Bill's unit again on our next trip to the beautiful island of Maui you bet we will!

We spent 4 nights in this unit. It is in great shape, clean and well stocked, and had no issues that needed attention during our stay. Bathroom clean and in great condition, shower enclosure especially nice. We appreciated that there were a variety of spices, oil etc leftover from previous visitors that meant we did not need to do a lot of shopping for the small incidentals. Plus beach umbrellas and more. Wifi worked well. We loved having breakfast on the deck in the mornings. Unit is on the 10th floor, high enough so that we did not have any issues with noise from the nearby Whalers Village. The view from the unit takes in a sweeping view of Kaanapali Beach and Lanai. It was especially entertaining to watch the snorkel cruise catamarans land on the beach to pick up passengers! Free washer/dryer nearby next to the elevator was always available when we needed it. Whaler facilities - pool, hot tub, gym, parking, lobby were all in great shape. Owner was easy to work with, responsive on communications, and interested in us enjoying our stay. I recommend this unit!

Everything about this property was perfect. The unit was immaculate, well appointed, a great view of both sunrise and sunset, and on the non-windy side of the Whaler property. Dealing with the owner and payment were seamless. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful. The property is adjacent to a small shopping center as well as a number of restaurants from fast food to elegant. The pool and spa are great and the beach, with swimming, wading, snorkeling, body boarding, etc. were only steps away. The waves were large enough to attempt to learn to surf but small enough for children to be safe. We look forward to returning.

First of all, my wife and I have probably stayed in about two dozen vacation condos and houses (mostly in Hawaii and Lake Tahoe areas). This one really impressed us as it was by far the best equipped place we have ever rented. It had everything you could need - boogie boards, snorkel gear, ice chests, beach chairs, every kitchen item, travel books, etc. They even had boxes of supplies you may need, such as band aids, sewing kit, clothes pins, and everything else. While we we there, the property manager even dropped by with a new fry pan, toaster, and coffee pot since someone else had said new ones were needed.
I'm sure you've read the other reviews, so you've seen all of the good words. Yes, the king sized bed really was comfortable. The view is amazing. Perhaps our favorite part was the large lanai. The lanai is big enough for two chairs, a table, and a chaise lounges. We spent a lot of time sitting there watching the view.
I really don't have anything bad to say. The staff was all very friendly. Guests can feed the koi fish every morning at 8:30 (great for kids, but fun for grown ups as well). The beach is amazing (head up to black rock to snorkel with turtles, a lot of them hanging out on the south side of the rock in the wave area).
We have never stayed in the same place twice, always opting for the excitement and opportunities of a new place, however, wife and I will stay here again. It is simply that nice. Great condo, and great location. Thank you!

This was our second time staying at the Whaler, and first time in this unit. It was very clean and well-kept, with new carpet and comfortable bedding. A great perk of renting a condo is all the little "extras" like a beach umbrella and chairs, coolers, and body boards; this condo had all of this and more! Gorgeous views from the room and lanai, and of course an exceptional location right in the middle of gorgeous Kaanapali beach with a very fair nightly rate :)
One item to note with regards to the Whaler in general is that there's some construction and maintenance going on (as of May 2016). A large section of Whaler's Village shopping center (next door to the condo) is completely torn out, with construction crews working during business hours. At the condo complex itself, there's some roof work happening (solar panel installation, etc.) that causes quite a bit of loud noise in the unit during the daytime, and certain sections of the pool area were closed due to overhead work. Our stay was mostly over a weekend, so we benefited from having less work done during our stay. Again, this impacted the overall resort, and does not reflect on the terrific room.
Next time we're looking for a unit for two people, we'll be back! Thanks Bill for a wonderful beach condo!

We stayed at Bill's condo a couple of years ago and loved it so much that we returned to stay in the same unit. Are there plenty of places to stay in Ka'anapali? Yes, but why go elsewhere when everything we needed and wanted was at Bill's condo at The Whaler #1063. Perfect location! If you don't want to venture around the Island, you don't even need a car. Shopping is right next door. Grocery store is a couple of miles away.... We took the bus for $2.00, then took a cab back with all of our groceries. Cab driver dropped us off at the building garage where there are shopping carts by the elevator to take the groceries to our room. Another day we took the bus to Front Street where there are loads of stores and more restaurants. Right in front of The Whaler you can catch a sunset cruise, dinner cruise or snorkeling trip. We went on the snorkeling trip on The Hula Girl. What a great time we had on that. There is also a "beach walk" where you can walk up and down, take in the beautiful scenery and stop at any of the restaurants along the way for a bite to eat or have some cocktails. Back to The Whaler #1063........ The condo is equipped with everything, and I mean everything. All you need to bring with you are your bathing suit and flip flops and if you're planning to eat out at all, shorts and a shirt work. No need to bring fancy clothes. Need a hairdryer, it's there. Cut yourself and need a bandage? First aid supplies there. I could go on and on about how well the condo is equipped, but when I say just bring your clothes, I mean it. The view from the lanai is outstanding too. I felt like we were in paradise.

Perfect location in a secure condo property - condo offers views of the Beach and the island of Lanai. Is within walking distance of shopping, many restaurants and an abundance of beach activities. Condo is well-equipped and maintained as is the property itself. A great location for breakfast on the lanai to watch the world go by! Very comfortable for two people.

We just stayed at the Whaler #1063 and had a great stay the view is unbeatable and it is on the sunny side of the building so the patio is awesome to watch sunsets and whales. The condo is nicely maintained and had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation we will definitely be coming back to this condo.

This beautiful 10th floor studio condo is located in a complex that is maintained to excellent standards. The parklike grounds including a koi pond/lagoon are stunning. From the condo you are on the beach or the pool in front of the beach witnin a few steps. My husband and I have the luck to stay here a few times and each time we are amazed at the beauty of this location. Bill is very helpful and gracious throughout the renting process. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances, dishes, pots and pans. But if you feel like eating out (and shopping afterwards )Whaler's Village is next door or a short walk to the adjacent hotels. We enjoyed our dinners on the lanai listening to the music and watching the people strolling on the walk beside the beach. During the day there is nothing like playing in the waves and snorkling in clear warm waters beside turtles and many colourful fish. For a $ 4.00 day pass one can travel by bus to numerous locations on Maui, including Lahaina, Kahului, Kihei, Makena... and then return to relax in this lovely condo.

My husband and I stayed here 5 nights in September for our trip to the Maui Marathon. The condo is in a beautiful location and has amazing views of the west Maui mountains and Lanai. Everything you might need was in the condo including coffee maker, beach chairs and a cooler for lunches while out exploring. We loved being next door to Whaler's Village for dining and shopping; and while this unit overlooked the village we were never bothered by any noise. Sunset sails leave right from the beach out front and there is great snorkeling down the beach at Black Rock. Renting from Bill the owner was incredibly easy and he was very quick to answer any questions. We loved our time at this condo.

This is my third time to stay at this very special studio condominium. Although the condo is studio size, it feels spacious with a touch of elegance. I am a senior citizen and this location is perfect: it's safe, beautiful,and within walking distance of shops and restaurants such as the Hula Grill and Leilani's. The on-site Business Center allowed me to print my Boarding Pass for my return home, as well as a prepaid label to mail a package. The condo offers all of the accommodations of home, including sand chairs, coolers, blender, etc., while providing an ambiance of quiet island peacefulness; all on Maui, one of the world's most beautiful islands.

This condominium was spacious and comfortable. It was well stocked with many extras you might not find in other condos. It felt like a home, with everything you need. The blender worked great for morning smoothies. The refrigerator has an icemaker. Coolers and beach chairs. You name it, we found it - very impressive. The unit is well laid out. Although it is a studio, we never felt cramped. There is space for four at the dining table with two stools at the breakfast bar. The king size bed was very comfortable. Two nights we grilled on the one of the six huge barbeque grills on the property. They are well maintained and cleaned every day. We stocked up on groceries at Costco near the airport after arrival and then made a few visits to the Safeway in the nearby town of Lahaina. Don't bother bringing any books to read on the beach. The owner has a well stocked library of interesting books, including a guide book for Maui. We enjoyed a luau, a sunset sail, the onsite pool, and snorkeling in the ocean all within a short walk along the path between the beach and the various properties. Finally, all the communication with the owner was prompt and clear. Should you have a special need, the owner's housekeeper is responsive and helpful. We would very much recommend Whalers 1063 for your stay on Kaanapali beach.
