We spent 11 nights in this unit and really enjoyed it. It could use a bit of updating, and a king size bed. That would make it perfect. The location is great. The view is amazing! We seen whales and turtles daily from the balcony that we spent lots of time on. I loved how large the space is, I could put everything away and keep it tidy. A small safe in the unit would be nice. We never used the air conditioning because with the slats, sliding door and windows the cross breeze was amazing. We never closed anything. We did have a little issue with the lock on the door, but they got that fixed right away. I would definitely recommend this unit, and stay here again.

Unit: well appointed, everything we needed but emergency lighting for power outages
Owners: very responsive to unit not being cleaned & ready upon arrival. Handled issue promptly.
Onsite management: terrible communication. Power was off 4-5 times during our 7 day stay, once for over 24 hours. Tossed spoiled food in frig. No hot water for 2 days so no shower. Generator truck ran all week, with pause for refueling etc. No electricity means no elevator. Not a problem if stairwells are lit, but they weren't and no way to prop doors open. 9th floor exit offered opportunity for much exercise but was impossible for those with mobility probs (safety issue!) and when phone isn't charged for flashlight use. On day 5 of our stay motion lights were placed in the stairwells. Jackhammers ran 9-4 weekdays as structural repair was taking place, often near our unit. No quiet naps, no windows open at night with sound of generator....we hit the perfect storm it seems. If none of this had happened, would have given great reviews. We are not complainers, so made the best of the circumstances, but was quite spendy for all the issues we endured. Will consider a hotel next time around.

Great location for us, I saw whales out in the water on the first day. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We did find a chocolate on the floor that didn’t belong to either of us, and I found a plastic piece in one of the washcloths that could’ve been uncomfortable in the wrong area. All in all great spot and fairly comfortable place to lay our heads.

This property was in a very nice location to explore the north and west coasts of Maui. This VRBO was very clean. We stayed in several VRBOs in Hawaii, and this was the cleanest by far. The host/s were very helpful, easy to work with, and very prompt in replying to our questions.

We had a wonderful time at this property. The views from the lanai were wonderful and we saw humpback whales from there every day. The kitchen was well stocked and made our stay of 10 days very comfortable. The condo was very spacious and comfortable. It was close (walking distance) to some shops and restaurants which was very nice. The owners have paid close attention to detail with their property and it shows. The owners were also very easy to communicate with.

The condo was perfect for our needs, beautiful ocean view, easy beach access. Unfortunately, we booked our stay one day before the hurricane hit and two days before the fires. The owners were very communicative and helpful. They even refunded some of our money. Gave it to three families and putting the rest to the Maui Humane Society. Hopefully anyone reading this will help, as well. Can’t wait to go back, stay at this location and offer to help rebuild. Would definitely stay here again!

We were pleased with the property. It does need a bit of maintenance. Like painting, replace bathroom cabinet & a thorough cleaning! I think the cleaners are just doing a surface job. Table & chairs on balcony dirty, under the sink cupboard & garbage pail in kitchen filthy.
Also people from the next building coming here to use pool & bbqs. Sometimes because of this couldn’t get a chair by pool to sit.

The view was excellent. Furnishings were very dated and worn, but functional. Bathroom vanity needs to be replaced…almost impossible to open and close the drawers. Shower was updated, clean and large. Oven was dirty so unable to use. Only 3 coffee cups in the cabinet and one was chipped. Overall OK.

Our family of four loved our stay at the Royal Kahana. The condo was perfect with the sofa bed, and the queen blow up mattress was a huge plus so the kids didn’t have to share a bed. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, olive oil, salt and pepper, and honey. The pool was so warm and we loved BBQing in the evenings. The best part was the amazing view on the balcony. We watched whales jump at all times of the day. We would definitely stay here again!

Booked in advance for my wife and I, then decided since the place was roomy enough, we’d bring our 7 and 4 year old too. The place worked out quite well. I felt it was a great value considering the costs in Maui. It was warm during our late September stay and although it had a hard time keeping up, the AC was nice to have. Our kids loved the heated pool, right on the beach. The kids wanted to forgo pulling out the hide a bed and opted to sleep on the couch. There was plenty of extra bedding to make this happen. We absolutely fell in love with this place. Perfect view and spacious condo. The mirrors in this place make it feel twice the size as well and situated so that you can see the ocean from every room in the house except for the bathroom. Great quiet location with plenty of convenient shops for anything you might need. We found the best coffee shop just a short walk across the street. The snorkeling is pretty great right off the beach and we saw dozens of huge turtles each day and swam with a good handful. We love it here and definitely will be coming back to this unit.

Maui was great. The condo we stayed at here at Royal Kahana was perfect. At first we thought we booked undersized but we were busy going for two weeks and really just served as a place to sleep. The view from the lanai is great and the ocean sounds are relaxing. Traffic not the best but the drives around the island offered so much to see that it made up for it. Everything needed is within walking distance or short drive. Beaches everywhere so never really needed to go to far from condo. Great relaxing experience! Staff was great and friendly the site is well maintained. The ocean is a few steps away. Perfect!!!!

This was the best condo we have ever rented. It was in a great location, the view was spectacular, was extremely clean, easy check in/out, and a great pool. This was the best stay on our 12 day Hawaiian trip. Our other rental in Oahu was complicated and not as good as the pictures stated, so we weren't expecting a lot with our Maui stay. Enjoyed our stay. For the positives the view is amazing. Enjoyed watching the whales from the balcony. Negatives: no trash bags were provided other than the 1 that was there when we arrived. We contacted the owners and they said they would have the cleaners drop off some. That never happened. We had some leakage from the condo above us which was not the owners fault but also had leakage from the refrigerator. For cleanliness the comforter appeared somewhat soiled and the rug in the family room looked like it could use a good cleaning. Overall the beauty of the area and the condo in general made it positive experience but the above mentioned issues keep me from giving it 5 stars.

We were wary about staying in a high rise but it was great! The view from the living room, bedroom and balcony was wonderful! Listening to the ocean as we drifted off, heavenly. Although on the 9th floor, we never had to wait long for one of the three elevators. We liked the way the condo was laid out. The pool is large, it never felt crowded and there are plenty of lounge chairs. We were a little disappointed there was no beach right in front of the building, but there are plenty of beaches close by.

We stayed at Christian's and Jeanne's condo during Christmas. It was a dream vacation staying at their place. Christian and Jeanne are very welcoming and cordial hosts. It was a pleasure renting from them, they were very gracious and easy to communicate with, they responded to our emails quickly, answering all our questions. They also provided us with a lot of information not only about the condo itself, but also about the entire area, which was very helpful. Regarding the condo... it is absolutely lovely! It was just perfect for our family of 4. The view is gorgeous, we enjoyed thoroughly sitting in the balcony, relaxing while having breakfast. The condo offered all the amenities we needed; it is very well equipped. We would've loved to have stayed longer; we had a beautiful experience. Getting the parking permit was very simple, at the office downstairs they were very welcoming and cordial when we arrived. They even helped our daughter fax some paperwork to a brand-new job that she was starting at that time. We will never forget out time in their condo!

We enjoyed the stay so much we are already talking about coming back. This part of Maui was just beautiful. We loved how peaceful it was so relax at the condo but not far away from anything. There is a store close by and tons of restaurants.

The only negative was the fact that we didn't have any linens for the pull out couch or the extra pillows which we needed for one night when our daughter stayed with us. Also, no dishwasher pods to run the dishwasher. Other than those small things we would stay here again.

We had a nice stay! We come annually for the past 12 years with the exception of 2020 and this was our first rental outside the Royal kahana reservations and owners were good at replying. There was a issue with cleaning crew/ later check in than expected but they were resolved to a reasonable satisfaction. Only complaint about the rental is old household goods (towels looked and felt old, limited storage containers for snacks, pots and pans shouldn't be cooked on as there's only one pan not all damaged so made cooking in our room not worth it). But we loved the view, listening to the waves all night and just enjoying all that Maui had to offer.

The location is ideal for avoiding big crowds but still having easy access to nearby tourist areas. The VIEWS from the unit are mind blowing! If you're saying as a couple, this place is 100% perfect and I highly recommend. Escape from the heat and enjoy the strong tradewinds from the upper floor of this condo unit. It directly faces the ocean with a great balcony for enjoying the sunset and viewing the islands of Lanai and Moloka'i in the distance.
There isn't much of a beach but it's still a very relaxing morning to sit on the pool chairs facing the water with a palm tree towering overheard.
The pool was very warm and wonderful to swim in. It's surrounded by many beautiful hawaiian flowers.
The rooms were all very clean with a modern kitchen and renovated shower.
I don't recommend this for four adults like we did, because the sofa bed is very uncomfortable for grown adults. Children would probably sleep perfectly well on the sofa bed though.

It was also nice that they provided snorkels, fins, and other beach supplies! Royal Kahana was a great location and the condo had great views. Everything was as described and clean. The beach in front of the condo was closed due to potentially hazardous conditions and was sand bagged off. My wife and I lived on Maui for over 20 years and recently moved away. We returned as "tourists" for vacation and chose this lovely condo on the Westside of Maui. We chose this condo mainly for the view which is fantastic. However, the view is not it's only selling point. It is a very comfortable, well appointed and tastefully decorated space with everything you need for an amazing Maui vacation. It is in a great location, has a wonderful pool area and is oceanfront. In addition the owners are great to work with and are very responsive. We had a small issue on our first night and the owners responded to our needs and communicated with us quickly. We would not hesitate to highly recommend this condo for your Maui vacation. If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would.

We loved staying here! It was the perfect location being a few minutes walk to Maui Brewing and right on the ocean. Our view of the ocean from not only the lanai but from the super comfortable couch was absolutely beautiful! It was amazing to hear the waves, the gorgeous sunsets and stunning ocean. The condo was very spacious, bed was super comfortable, kitchen and bathroom were well designed and clean. The owners had alot of great information available in the condo and included great recommendations for things to do and places to go in their Welcome email. This property is located in a nice location, with a great view of the ocean from its lanai. The living room is comfortable, and the kitchen seemed to have everything you may need, though we didn't cook while in Maui. The bathroom was appalling. The walk in shower was loaded with black mold everywhere. We arrived on a late Tuesday night, and the last thing we wanted to have to deal with while on a vacation is a dirty condo. Every time I took a shower, I had the `eww' factor. Finally on Friday, I let the owners know that something needed to be done about the mold. I got notice that they would have it taken care of on the following Monday. I was really surprised they didn't send someone out right away to take care of it, but I didn't want to use my precious energy (I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome) on trying to get someone to come out sooner. We also realized there was some horrendous black, slimy mold type stuff on the top of the metal rim that sits in the center of the sink. The toilet smelled of urine, and I'm sure it needed a good scrubbing around the toilet/floor section. Throughout the condo there were areas on the tile floor, usually around the door stops, and against the wall areas that could have used a good cleaning. The mattress was quite warn, along with the sheets. The Royal Kahana is remodeling the pool area, which consisted of jack hammering, and excavating tons of cement, which meant unwanted noise which we didn't know about. The air conditioner was horrible. Having air conditioning was extremely important to us, and this determined whether we would consider staying at a place or not. The owners had a binder on the table that mentioned if the air isn't working well, it may need a new filter, and we were to call about it. They also mentioned to make sure all of the curtains are closed in the afternoon due to the sun, which we always did. This air conditioner cannot keep up with any kind of heat. The average temperature in the condo showed 77°, and that was with the setting turned down to around 61°. It was horrible. Their washer and dryer worked great. If you can get past the black mold, among other things, then I would recommend staying here. But if cleanliness matters to you, I would look further. This condo has a lot of potential, if the owners would make sure it was cleaned properly.

The two of us stayed for 9 days on vacation and didn’t want to leave! The balcony overlooks the ocean and pool and is the perfect place to watch sunset or eat breakfast - the pictures don’t even do the view justice. The condo is spacious and updated (with really nice decor) and clean with plenty of room to relax and has a great kitchen (fully stocked with pots/pans, cooking utensils, dishes, etc.) The pool was great and the condo had a ton of beach gear - snorkel stuff, chairs, boogie boards, beach towels, etc. We swam in the ocean and snorkeled just a few steps from the building. The condo also has laundry, AC, tv with cable. Christian and Jeanne were friendly and even left some island chocolates as a welcome!
Overall amazing place and would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I rented Christian and Jeanne's condo for five nights in late August and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pictures of the unit are an accurate reflection of its condition - very clean and well-kept. However the pictures of the view do not do it justice - it's much more stunning in person! The location was great - we've stayed on the South and West sides of Maui before and prefer the latter to be closer to Lahaina. This building is literally on the beach and walking distance to Maui Brewing Co. Yes, erosion has made the beach directly in front a bit shallow, but walk just a few yards down and there's enough sand to comfortably lay out. I did every morning! I very much appreciated the beach chairs and towels that were there for us to use. The included parking was also very convenient... never had trouble finding a spot and having a car made is easy to get out around the island. For the time we stayed in, the living room layout was very conducive to just relaxing on the couch to watch TV or enjoy the view.
My only minor suggestion for improvement - it might be time to update the bed linens and bath towels. Clearly this condo is well loved and popular by renters. I can't wait to return to Maui and hope Christian and Jeanne will have us as their guests again. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! :)

Comfortable, well enough equipped. Fantastic view, if you avoid Valley Isle Resort’s obstruction. Elevators were accommodating. Interesting trash system. Californian’s feel welcome, you can recycle. Local eateries get kudos. Especially Dollies for the best pizza on Maui_yummy.
