The description is generally accurate, although in many cases the actual unit falls short of it. In particular, I was surprised that we could not see any water from the living room. We needed to go out to the lanai to have a partial view. (This is sort of implicit farther down the description.)
The view itself was OK, though, and the fireworks were terrific, with each of them generating a huge bang due to the echoes off the buildings.
The kitchen was barely adequate, but it was adequte. The dishwasher creaks, but works fine. The refrigerator would pull out from the wall sometimes when pulling on the door, but it worked fine, too. There was a corkscrew (two, really). There were generally four of everything, cups, glasses, plates, etc.
The TVs are kinda small, but as big as the limited space allows. The wifi was a little slow, but worked fine. The bathroom is not nearly as good as it sounded in the description, but I've no complaints except maybe for how small it is.
So: minor complaints about much of the unit, but it all worked out and no major complaints at all. The owner was very easy to communicate with via text.

The condo was really clean and updated, and it was so convenient having a store, restaurant, and ice cream shop downstairs. I would stay there again! Wonderful view of the ocean and Friday night fireworks.
The only con we’re the elevators. They close quickly and do not open if you should get trapped as they are closing. My 83 year old father in law was hurt when this happened and his upper arm was left bleeding. The doors really jolted him back and forth. The building should really update their elevators, they’re not very safe. The elevator doors should pop back open if it closes on something or someone and they do not. USE CAUTION!

My parents stayed in this unit for two weeks and loved it! The unit had everything they needed and more. It’s located in the historic Ilikai hotel and it is in a great spot, close to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. The view from the unit is breathtaking! They had breakfast on the lanai in the morning and drinks in the evening and enjoyed the views. Finally, the host is super awesome and very responsive! Highly recommend and will stay with again!

We are so glad we chose to stay at Darko’s condo! The whole condo was clean and spacious. Wonderful location. Quick walk to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Valet parking was really quick and they were very friendly. The pool at the condo was very nice! I enjoyed getting drinks at the bar/restaurant located at the condo and going to the pool. We used the cooler, beach chairs, and snorkel equipment at the condo, which was a huge plus!!! The furniture outside on the patio was really nice and comfortable. We didn’t sleep on the sofa sleeper but it was comfortable to sit on. Bed was comfy, as well. Darko is a excellent host, he even left us coffee and chocolates to enjoy -which we loved!!!! We hope to come back some day and stay here again. It was great. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality! 10/10

We visited 3 islands during our trip and this was our 2nd stop, so it was so awesome to have a kitchen after eating all meals out for several days straight. The kitchen does have a coffee pot and all needed cooking/eating utensils (dishes/pots/pans/wine glasses etc.) the unit was very clean and just as described. The a/c unit cooled the place down quickly and was quiet, and the bedroom had a ceiling fan. The building was great, definitely try the ice cream shop! I thought valet might be a pain but they were always very fast, so we had no issues with having to wait for the car. We were also able to walk so many places! The host gave us a full list of restaurants and activity recommendations and was extremely responsive. Would definitely stay again.

From booking to the end the owner was extremely responsive. Check in details were very clear and precise and he answered any questions quickly. He even left coffee and chocolates which was a very nice touch to make us feel welcome.
The apartment itself is very well renovated and organised also very clean. We are extremely picky with cleanliness but it was spotless. It isnt huge but it is all very well set out. There was enough storage for our 9 night stay. The kitchen is well equipped, we didnt lack anything and love cooking. The lounge has a new sofa bed (we didnt use) but looked new and was different to the photo. The bed was super comfortable which had a portable extra fan in cupboard, safe, ironing board etc. The bathroom has a decent sized shower (no bath but we prefer showers). The balcony is large and excellent to sit out on to eat a meal/drinks. There were also some beach/pool toys etc. It overlooks the Hyatt but when sitting out there is also a good view of the lagoon, beach and the fireworks on a Friday night! Laundry facilities are just down the hall (not in the apartment) for a small fee (pay by card). Parking is valet, currently at $35us a day, very efficient and friendly staff (longest wait for car was 10 minutes at peak time).
The whole place has an ice cream store, restaurant, concierge and shops (one with the staples if needed). Great clean well run, friendly staff. 15 minute walk to centre of Waikiki (stroll) and is centrally located to everything you need. Lots of dining options around and only a few minute walk to Ala Moana. We loved the location as we had a car and it was centrally located to explore the island and had the night life close by for evenings out.
This is an amazing place to stay and would recommend it to anyone. You wont be disappointed.

The condo was very clean and well stocked. The balcony looks onto the side of the Hilton and the rooms there, along with another side of the condo rooms. There is a good view of the beach diagonally across. It was a great price but personally I was not a fan of the busy location and would not return to that area. I'm sure others would love the hussle and bussle of the location. Pack some sturdy swimming shoes as when entering the ocean one has to cross rocks in the shallow area.

The Ilikai hotel is strategically located amidst other high-rise condos right on the beach in Waikiki. This unit is small but very clean and functional for a couple or perhaps 4 at most. It has a very nicely appointed kitchen, a balcony with a great view of the beach and pools below, and there are other items (shopping bags, boogie boards, sand toys, etc.) the are available for use. The cost of Valet parking has increased to $35/day but they are very efficient and all were friendly. Super easy checkin with a code from Darko. We arrived and went directly to the room with our luggage and began enjoying the stay. It was very nice to not have to remember a key for the room. Thanks for the great room.

My husband, our 15 year old daughter and myself just got back from a 10 day stay at Darko’s apartment. We absolutely loved the unit, from the location and how clean and spacious it was. The kitchen is fully stocked with any kitchenware you might need during your stay, lots of towels including beach towels were provided as well as beach essentials (chairs, sun umbrellas etc). The self check in was easy and quick and Darko was great at responding during the booking process and before arrival. The building itself is located within easy walking distance to central Waikiki and a great big shopping mall. There is also a public bus stop just a couple minutes walk away. Having stayed in Waikiki in a hotel room before, Darko’s unit is definitely the much better option. More space and ability to cook all your meals if preferred and a beautiful big patio with a view to the ocean and the nearby lagoon. We will be back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Ilikai in Darko’s condo! The entrance to Ilikai is beyond beautiful and it’s historic haven been open since the 1960s and was featured in Hawaii 50! The unit was completely remodeled and very clean when we arrived. The unit was just as it’s listed on VRBO. It was great to bypass all of the check in stuff and just go straight to your room and then you are home for the duration of your stay. The view from the balcony of the lagoon and ocean are fabulous! The Ilikai is a pick up spot for most of the tours we did and even for the hop on hop off pink line. Not to mention walking distance from about everything in the city.We walked in to a welcome card and the essential supplies to start our stay. Communication with Darko was great and we were provided all we needed to know for a great stay! 5 stars for sure and will be making a return trip.

A family of three with a toddler enjoyed this place very much. Walkable to Waikiki beach and Ala moana shopping center. We didn’t need a car most days. Only one night we rented a car and used the parking lot. It’s easy and convenient. Condo was very clean and had boogie boards that we enjoyed. We didn’t cook but saw all the pots and pans. Our property was newly renovated overlooking the lagoon and beach! It seemed a little quieter then the main strip which was easy to walk to. I booked this property because of all the great reviews and I am here to add to them! This was such a great space and met every one of our needs while we were staying in Hawaii. Our two children, aged eight and 11, stayed on the comfy couch and it worked out well for our family of four. We loved spending the mornings eating breakfast on the lanai, overlooking the beautiful view of both pools and the gorgeous ocean.
Shortly after we arrived, I realized that I was missing a commonly used health item that I should’ve packed. I contacted Darko and asked him if he knew where I might be able to find the item I was missing. He contacted me back immediately and offered to drop off one of his own. It was so nice to meet him and it was so lovely of him to go the extra mile for me. I highly recommend this property and we will definitely stay there again on our next trip to the islands. Also, I highly recommend pre-paying for the valet service if you have a car. Yes, it is a little more but it was so worth it to be able to come and go as we wanted to and not worry about finding parking in Waikiki.

Wow this place was perfect for my family of 4. My wife and my 2 little one (7&8 yr old). The place was super close to everything especially the mall and the grocery store. I love how we can walk to the lagoon within 5mins. Valet parking wasn’t bad it was $28/day. They had a great ice cream place down below as well. Unit was beautiful and well taken care of. Wonderful place for two people. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. We really enjoyed the lanai where we had a great view of the ocean with surfers and sail boats. Close to restaurants. Only complaint was there were only two wash cloths in the bathroom and we were there seven days. Also, the commode had an odor when we first arrived, was wishing for commode cleaner. The decor is very nice. Definitely recommend.

My wife & I are retired and can say that this was one of the nicer condo's that we have stayed at through VRBO and we have rented about 8 previous condos to date in that same price range. Darko was also the very first owner to ever contact me after checkin to see that we had everything that we needed, that showed me that he really cared about our experience. The appliances were all updated as well as the furniture, even the balcony furniture had nice cushions so that you enjoyed sitting out there watching the activities on the beach, lots of surfers and boats going by. The beach was about a 5 minute walk from the building. I was told by other renters that this building has the only heated pool along all of Waikiki beach. There are 2 pools, one for swimming and one is a wading pool for both kids and adults. The building seemed to be occupied mostly by seniors and young families and was very quiet. There were free concerts 2 nights each week on the patio these ended at 8 PM so there was no noise later at night. We enjoyed netflix in the condo and there were lots of stores and restaurants within a very short walking distance of the building and a nice restaurant in the building itself. We would highly recommend this unit, in the morning the balcony is in the shade until about 9:30 then you get full sun until about 2:30 so you can get a dose of sun but also some relief and shade later in the day.

My wife and I stayed in Darko’s condo at the Ilikai for 3 glorious weeks from December 17, 2018 to January 7, 2019. It was a fantastic experience right from our initial booking until we checked out and headed to the airport. It is an extremely well maintained property that has everything that you need for a relaxing stay. The furnishings and linens are comfortable and the kitchen has all of the equipment you will need for quick snacks all the way to full meals. Our 20 year old daughter came to visit for 10 days and found sleeping on the fold out sofa in the living room extremely comfortable. The ocean views from the lanai are great as are views of the Friday night fireworks over the Hilton Lagoon. A long walk in the morning followed by breakfast on the lanai is a fantastic way to start your day. The condo comes with beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels and you have your choice of 2 pools at the Ilikai or a short stroll to the beach. Darko was a pleasure to deal with and was quick to respond to all queries. We would definitely consider this condo for next year’s visit. Mahalo Darko.

We are a family of four, me, hubby and 2 kids (ages 10,12). First, Darko was great! He was always prompt in responding to our questions and assured us that he’d be available during our stay if we needed anything.
The condo met all of our needs. It was comfortable, we liked the complete separation between the bedroom and the living room area. The sofa bed was also quite comfy, according to the kiddos. We didn’t do any cooking but if we had, the kitchen was fully equipped. The beach chairs, towels and mats, boogie board, and sand castle toys were provided (a definite +). The balcony offered a perfect view of the fireworks and glimpses of the luau across the street.
The Ilikai itself was also wonderful! The valet staff were friendly and prompt, and the concierge was helpful.

We just returned to snowy NJ from beautiful Hawaii. The highlight of our trip was our accommodations at this gorgeous condo at the Ilikai. This recently renovated unit is decorated so tastefully, yet is extremely functional and comfortable. It is furnished with everything you need. We felt at home the minute we walked in and received a personal welcome from the owner. The views are fantastic and we enjoyed spending time on the lanai. It is within walking distance to everything in Waikiki. Having stayed at the Ilikai before, however this unit is, by a large margin, our FAVORITE!. We loved our stay and will definitely return. We highly recommend this condo.....plus the owners are amazing!

My husband and young son recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful condo. It was modern and well equipped with everything needed for a trouble-free stay. The location is great with easy access to the beach and Ilikai pool. In this location, you don't need to rent to car but if you decide you want one, car rental shops are right across the street. Jovanka and her husband were very nice and happy to answer any questions. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone wanting to stay in the Waikiki area.

I am very late on writing a review for this AWESOME condo in Waikiki Beach in October 2013. We were the very first people to stay here after their renovations. I can not say enough about how wonderful the condo was and the view we woke up to every morning for 10 days. Every Tuesday and Friday nights you can watch the fireworks from the balcony that the Hilton next door puts on. You can watch the Luau on Fridays nights from here as well.It was such a pleasure to wine and dine at home that felt like home each night/day. We found we could just about walk to every place we wanted. Jovanka and her husband were so accommodating and readily available at all times. The condo was spotless and had all the amenities one could want. You would be lucky to stay here if your dates are available. It truly is the BEST place I have stayed using VRBO!!!!

Have just returned from this wonderful apartment. Newly renovated and spotlessly clean, it was the perfect base for our Hawaiin adventure. The location was spot on. Away from the hustle and bustle, it was an easy walk into waikiki and most importantly for our shopping mad crew, ala Moana centre. Jovanka was extremely helpful and easy to deal with, meeting us upon our arrival to show us around. Would return in a heartbeat .

My husband and I came to Waikiki for a friends wedding and chose this condo because it was in the same building as the rest of the bridal party. I knew when I saw the pictures that I wanted this room, but my husband was weary about booking with VRBO because he found some reviews that were not very good (about VRBO, not the room). The owners had listed their number, and after talking with them a few times my husband felt good about booking with them. They also met us at the condo on the day of our arrival to show us everything and made themselves available the entire time we stayed. The condo is even better than the pictures! It felt like we were staying in luxury resort! They also have everything you could ask for, from pots and pans to snorkeling gear. The hotel is also amazing. The beach is steps away, and I loved that there was a market in the lobby to get drinks and snacks. There was also a coffee shop that we went to many a morning with delicious coffee and breakfast sandwiches. If we ever find ourselves back on Waikiki Beach we will be staying here again, it was the trip of a lifetime!

We (2 adults and a 13 year old) stayed for 4 nights in August. All the information before we arrived was timely and accurate and further questions were answered promptly - thank you so much.
We arrived late and it was wonderful to bypass reception and walk straight up to the front door knowing the security code. Through these reviews, I wasn't nervous and as others have said, everything was immaculate and just like the photographs (although we discovered the lanai was larger than expected with a sunlounger, armchair and side table).
The Condo is furnished extremely well with everything you would need for a perfect stay (safe too). There was ample storage space and the privacy door is a wonderful idea for a small family. Both the bed and sofa bed were also very comfy and there was still ample room to move around. We also found the Condo to be extremely quiet.
The Location is great and it isn't far to the busier spots in Waikiki. We used the store downstairs (very useful and reasonable) and ate in the bar watching the sunset (average/good). The valet parking was excellent and easy. We also used the laundry room just down the hall and put out some trash. We did not use the pool.
I would highly recommend the Condo and if we were to return to Waikiki I would not look anywhere else. I did a lot of research before booking and seeing the location of some of the hotels I was considering, I am so pleased I booked this.

Greatest vacation of our marriage!
This condo is 5-star! For one week we woke from our comfy bed's sleep and enjoyed a cup of coffee on our balcony with its gorgeous view! We headed out shortly to walk to one of the restaurants nearby for breakfast, then back to grab the condo's beach chairs and head to the water. Then we'd enjoy some afternoon shopping at the many stores within walking distance, and delicious dining in the evening. We also loved taking drives to nearby beaches and places on the island. Everywhere we went was beautiful.
The condo was fabulous - just perfect for our 20 year anniversary trip! Leaving our four kids behind, we didn't need a large place for our anniversary, and this one-bedroom fit us like a glove. The kitchen, bath and den were not only beautiful, they were immaculate. We could tell everything was selected with great thought in this condo renovation, making sure its guests would feel at home in its luxury.
The owners went far beyond the norm in accommodating us, helpful in every way! 5-star owners! We loved the extra convenience of the safe they provided, by the way, and the security code for the room's door entrance. Also we found the store downstairs a great convenience during our stay. We would recommend this beautiful Waikiki condo in Hawaii to our family, our friends - and to you! Honestly, I wish we could go back Tomorrow!

This unit is in a fantastic location overlooking Waikiki. We stayed here for 3 days with our kids (8 and 10). This condo has everything you need, including beach toys, boogie board, fully equipped kitchen, etc. A huge plus is the fact that there is a separating wall between the master bedroom and the living area, which allowed us some privacy from the kids at night.
The view from the lanai is spectacular. Some nights there is a luau at another hotel roof that this unit it overlooks. We enjoyed watching the show. I also understand that on Friday nights, there are fireworks on the beach and this unit would have a perfect view. Sadly, we we were not here on Friday and missed it. We watched the sunrise every morning from the lanai with a cup of coffee and it was pure bliss.
We considered several different hotels and condos on Waikiki and concluded we couldn't have picked a better place. Jovanka was extremely helpful with everything. Highly recommend this unit.

This condo was absolutly perfect! Everything you see here is what you'll get! I believe this condo is worth more than just five stars. This condo is very modern, up to date, and very classy! All new funiture, very comfy bed, fully equiped kitchen, and excellent lanai! In fact one night my husband and I went to the fish market and we cooked a full course seafood dinner, the kitchen had everything we needed! I absolutly loved the rich Hawaiian culture and I feel like there was some of that right there in the condo! The decor was just my style and taste! Between this condo, the beaches, the Ala Moana Mall, Waikiki Strip, the Pineapple, and the smell of the fresh Plumerias, I dont know which is my favorite! I could go on for days. I truly recommend this place for anyone!
