The condo was clean and quiet and the view was spectacular. We were able to see whales every day from the lanai. Turtles (mostly one but one day two) were on the beach every day, and you could see multiple in the water just off the beach. Short drive to many restaurants and other beaches and we walked to both Times supermarket and the Food Trucks across the street multiple times during our stay. We would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again if we come back to Maui.

This condo is fantastic! Loved waking up to the amazing views and just listening to the waves. As advertised, the ocean is literally steps from your doorstep. We saw sea turtles on the little beach and enjoyed a little swim there too. This place provided a true sense of privacy. It was quiet, uncrowded and peaceful. Although not fancy, the condo was impressively clean and provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The owner was very informative and helpful. We had the opportunity to volunteer packing and serving Thanksgiving meals for the community at Joeys kitchen. The owners there anre amazingly caring people who experienced the fire themselves. We met many strong Maui residents who are remaining hopeful and feel honored to have met them. We had zero problems here and feel that we picked an amazing place we will want to come back to. Words can’t express how awesome we found this stay!

Staying at this property was great. Everything we needed was in the condo, including beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, small cooler bags, etc. The lanai was very nice and we ate all our home cooked or take out meals there overlooking the beautiful view of Molokai, and of course the water. From the back yard you can see both Molokai and Lanai. When the sun is out, the water is a beautiful emerald green to blue to dark blue color. We couldn't get enough of it. The waves break over some reef not too far out and we got to see some surfers, paddle boarders, jet skiers, kite surfers, kayaks, etc.
One amazing highlight of this area are all the turtles. All in all on our trip we saw dozens of turtles, including many that crawled up the small beach adjacent to the condo. We also saw a monk seal flop up on the beach and take a 10 hour nap. A turtle crawled up and slept right next to it, and another turtle came up on the beach also. It was quite an amazing site.
The location of the condo is great. Kaanipali, an amazing beach, is just a short drive away. As well as 10 or so other spectacular beaches.
We were very sad to drive past Lahaina several times and see the aftermath of the fires. Don't let this be a reason not to come because there is still plenty to do and the people are very appreciative of the visitors.
Thanks to Ray for letting us stay and I would definitely come back again!

Exactly as listed. Beautiful views. Came in hopes of seeing a turtle. Saw 3! Lives up to its name. Right on the ocean with beautiful sunset views. It has a small private beach, but plenty of larger beaches and activities nearby. Wonderful quiet vacation spot. 10 out of 10 would do it again!

It was a great condo for our anniversary trip. Comfortable bed. Nice tile shower. Highlight was the Lanai. We had breakfast every morning outside on the Lanai, some dinners, or at sunset or after sunset drinks.

How does one explain a place so perfect? It is a great location, the views of the sunset are stunning, sea turtles swimming by all the time, the breeze at night is so refreshing when sitting on the patio or catching some Zs. I could'nt be happier!

Aloha! My brand new Fiancé (I Proposed on Oahu with my friend that runs PROposalHawaii the day before we flew over to Maui)and I where lucky enough to find this rental, and it was just what we needed. A walk out balcony to a porch which leads right to a grassy area and maybe 15ft away from the private walk to the private (ish) beach shared by other condos in the area. The "Walk" to the beach is approximately 30 seconds or so, and the shower head and rinse station is located right on the stairs that lead you right onto the beach. For the most part the beach was not crowded at all, but the wildlife was not shy to pop in and visit. We ran into a Turtle I names Gordo who liked to take a post lunch nap 3 of the days we where there, and a seal decided to take a nap for a couple hours hogging up some of the rays on the shore. Snorkeling kept my ADHD at bay and there where so many Food options within 15 minutes. I will say, shop and eat early because with the exception of a few places, Late night bites require some driving. As I wrote this review two days back into the regular work week, I realize how much I already miss our little get away on Maui. I've been starring at a blank screen for 15 minutes, then I go to write a review and cant shut up. Thank you so much for letting us crash in your place, and hope we may be able to visit again down the road. Now to get some work done! or day dream about the beautiful island of Maui. Mahalo

Sunset Central was the perfect home base for our visit to Maui. The highlight was definitely the view and sound of the ocean just feet outside the living room. Ray and Connie made sure to include anything that you may need during your visit - beach equipment, kitchen stocked with appliances and cooking utensils, plenty of towels, and multiple fans to keep the condo cool. Not to mention that it is about a 10 minute drive to multiple beautiful beaches - cannot beat that! This place does not disappoint!

What you read is exactly what you get. We were very pleased with our stay at Sunset Central. Directions to and once at the condo were easy to follow. The condo itself was clean and ready for our stay, and the complex was very quiet. The bed was comfortable after days of being out-and-about. Having the washer and dryer was very handy as well. Sitting on the lanai and watching the sunsets were great and every time we walked the 10 steps to the beach wall we saw turtles either bobbing in the water on sunning themselves on the little sandy beach. This is a great condo for 2 people - we would definitely recommend!

First off, the location is incredible and the description of the property is very accurate! The beach is just steps away and you have a view of the water from the unit. We were greeted by two sea turtles when we arrived- what a delight!
The unit itself is laid back, homey, comfortable, clean, and just what you need if you’re looking for a restful or adventurous vacation. There are restaurants and shops nearby, and the hour-ish drive to the airport is nothing short of beautiful. Neighbors are super friendly at the condos and I had no problem working remotely here for a few days- great wifi!
There are plenty of fans and trade winds blowing through the unit so the no A/C was just fine with us. The unit also has some beach bags and chairs, and coolers that we found super helpful to have.

Dated, small but generally comfortable condo in a very quite complex, walking distance to two small beach parks, as well as Kaanapali beach. We had lots of rain, only one sunny day (out of the 4 full days we had), so didn’t go onto the beach right at the condo at all. The best part of the place is the lanai! We saw whales breaching from it every day, and could enjoy the view even in the rain. Also, amazing sunsets just like the pictures. We slept with one of the sliders partially open so we could hear the surf, since the bedroom window faces the parking area. Lots of fans in the unit in case it’s hot (which it wasn’t when we were there). Owner just put in new carpet, so nice and clean.

We LOVED our stay (Dec 9-18) at Ray & Connie’s condo. They are fantastic hosts. Here’s THE MAGIC-
1) OCEAN FRONT w/TROPICAL BREEZE. The living room sliding doors open to a lanai and grassy area for lounging. Merely steps further, the ocean. Heavenly.
2) SWIMMING. Down the nearby steps, one is in the ocean within minutes. We spent hours snorkeling and frolicking in the water daily.
3) BEACH. Small and “semi-private”. Nice soft sand.
4) TURTLES. We swam and 'hung out' on the beach with giant seas turtles everyday except one. Some days there were 2-3 turtles!
5) LOCATION. Close to Lahaina shops, grocery, restaurants.
6) SUNSET. Different and breathtaking every evening.
7) THE NIGHT SKY. Full of stars (that we can’t see in Los Angeles).
8) SOUNDS OF WAVES CRASHING. Soothing and even audible in the bedroom — lulls one to sleep.
THE CONDO
1) Ray & Connie THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. All you need is at your fingertips, from portable/lightweight beach chairs to pots & pans, to beach towels.
2) NOSTALGIC 80’s VIBE. The decor is fun and cozy. Best of all, this complex does not attract the trendy types, but rather those who value being on the ocean / in nature.
3) NICE COMMUNITY. A mix of live-in owners and renters who are friendly, quiet and respectful of the wildlife.
4) COMFORTABLE. Nice king-sized bed, big shower, lots of kitchen appliances and basics like S&P, seasonings, condiments, etc.
LESS THAN IDEAL
1) 10am CHECK-OUT. I’m fine with a late check-in at 4pm, but check-out at 10am is impossible, considering one has to wash, dry and put away the sofa bed sheets, start the towels (that meant washing/drying the beach towels, then the bathroom towels, as we didn’t want to overload the washer), the dishwasher, trash, aka “leaving it as we found it.” We were SO GRATEFUL to get a late check-out of 12:30pm but we were going non-stop from 7am on to be out by 12:30pm. (COVID is no longer a reason for cleaning services to have a 6 hour window to clean a 1-bedroom condo; it should be cleaned to high standards regardless.) Check-out before noon is stressful, and the only reason I’d hesitate to come back.
2) The sofa-bed could be upgraded. It’s super thin, and at 5’8”, I slept diagonally across it to fit. (Am I the only one who retreats to the sofa-bed when her husband snores??)
3) Pillows are thick and don't give, causing one’s head to prop up very high. If you like a good pillow, bring your own.
Overall, it’s a fabulous value and we plan to return. Aloha!

The photos don’t define the true beauty of this property. The patio is literally 20 foot from the ocean. Breath taking view and sunsets were beautiful. Highly recommend and if I get an opportunity to get to Maui again, this will be where I stay.

Whether you are enjoying the beautiful sunsets or listening to the waves crash against the shore. This location can't be beat. I can’t say enough about how much we lived Ray’s place. The only thing we disliked was leaving! The description in the listing is completely accurate, and it was everything the other guests said it was. The location is absolutely perfect! Notonly are you literally right on the ocean’s shore, it’s a very quiet condo, the sunsets are amazing, and everything is super close. We snorkeled at so many beaches on the west side, and found great places to hit happy hours, great food and shopping. Went to an amazing luau at Sheraton Maui, spent time upcountry at the Organic Sea Spirits farm, Maui Wine, and Lavender farm. Highly recommend the Beach Buddies program through the Maui Humane Society if you want to take a dog out for some fun! Highly recommend this condo!

Note that there is a small street that goes back from the main road to parking lot for the condo. Drive slow it as it wasn't easy to spot.

We thought it was perfect! A few things to bring to your attention: there are some lights out, one in the bedroom, and three or four in the bathroom. One of the beach chairs from the closet has a broken arm rest. Still useable, but comes apart. Again, love your place. Thank you!! It was heaven.

Given all the 5 star reviews we had higher expectations. My husband and I have stayed in many rental properties over the years and would not consider this 5 star worthy. The deck was fantastic and we loved the views of the ocean. The deck did meet our expectations and we spent most of our time on the deck. We would not recommend the condo for anyone with allergies or asthma. It smelled musty and my asthma was a problem the whole time (it is set off by mold). The kitchen was equipped but the supplies were well used and not it good condition. The counters and cabinets felt sticky. Rent the condo for the deck and views, not for the inside.

This VRBO unit made our trip even better. I don't think you can get a spot closer to the water (unless you camp on the sand). The listing is accurate and the host communicated everything we needed to know well. We had breakfast on the lanai every morning; (I mean, why wouldn't you?). Located in a good spot to get to all sorts of things to do, or sit right there and enjoy the quiet. We plan to look up this exact same property next time we get back to Maui. Thank you Ray & Connie!!

Fabulous condo, first floor location allowed us to walk right out onto the grass to the sea wall. There is a nice sandy beach a few steps away. Sea turtles and seals like to sun bathe there. Spectacular sunset location. The condo is furnished and decorated nicely with all of the expected amenities. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

Great location for NW Maui. Honokowai is between Lahaina & Napili and is a separate small town. So nice to have a quiet area with a “private” beach right off your lanai. There are a few places to get groceries and carry-out in Honokawai and a couple of restaurants. Our ground level 1BR unit was very comfortable for the 2 of us. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Even after reading the other reviews, you don't fully realize how amazing the view is until you enter the condo. If you like watching incredible sunsets, listening to the waves as you fall asleep then this condo is for you. An added bonus was seeing the turtles on the beach, every afternoon 2 or 3 turtles made this their resting area until the following morning. Communication with the owner was awesome from the time we started to look for a condo until we got home. We have already booked our next holiday in this unit.

It's a beautiful view out the back doors... we enjoyed our stay very much... thanks for having chairs and umbrella to use at the multitude of beaches... good location for walking to restaurants and food trucks... we had a great time enjoying the entertainment at Java Jazz... short ride to downtown Lahaina too... accommodations are as advertised... thanks again!

This condo has made for a great vacation. We were not sure what to expect as this is our first time in Maui, and it was perfect! Great location, clean, and easy to book. We even had to cancel last year because of Covid and rebook this year and Ray and Connie have been so easy to work with! If we make it back one day we would not hesitate to stay here again!

This property is small, quiet, private, lovely and right on the beach! Turtles came to visit every day and that alone was worth the price of admission. I love having a kitchen (and the supermarket a few blocks away). I return to my mountain home renewed and relaxed and that is surely the point of a vacation.

The condo was perfect. It had everything we needed and then some. Ray explained everything in detail, so we never had questions or problems. The beach was perfect as well as the scenery. We are just sorry it took 25 years to get there!

We did not need the air conditioning, however if it had been any warmer, or had it been less windy we would have needed to use it.

It's was dark when we arrive we got settle real quick, the condo was really nice but we couldn't see a thing outside. when we woke up in the morning, such a beautiful site to see the ocean in our backward. We took all our meal outside, it was warm, average 26 C. no bugs. Really relaxing.

What we loved best was the location. It was private and quiet and an easy walk both north and south to restaurants and shops. The water temperature was perfect for our daily swims but the highlight for me was the arrival of a couple of turtles right in front of our Condo. Very relaxing stay and loved Maui.

Had an amazing stay at this beachside condo. Waking up every day to the sound of ocean waves was something we cherish the most. The condo was well equipped with all the kitchen stuff, beach chairs and almost everything. Ray was very friendly and approachable. Although we couldn't do many activities in maui due to hurricane, we enjoyed just chilling at the condo. We had to leave the condo two days early due to the hurricane warning. It was really nice of Ray to refund us for those two days. We will look no further for our stay whenever we decide to revisit the island.

This was a great one bedroom condo north of Kaanapali. The condo was full of beach supplies. From chairs and umbrellas to snorkeling gear and beach towels this place was ready for fun. The condo was decorated in tropical beach condo style. The kitchen had plenty of cookware and there were plenty of kitchen and bath towels. The washer and dryer was very handy. We also used one of the gas grills to cook a couple dinners.
The communicaton with the owners was always easy with quick response times. After letting them know of our arrival and departure times, Ray (owner) was able to let us check in early. The location of this condo was fantastic. 10 minutes to Lahaina. 5 min to Whalers Village. 5 min to Kapalua. The sunset views every night were stunning. There was snorkeling and a small beach attached to the complex. We saw a lot of turtles along the rocks while snorkeling the beach. This ground floor unit was perfect for our 20th anniversary vacation. We are looking forward to returning to Maui soon.
