We have TWO Nearly Identical TWIN side by side Units on VRBO. Property ID's are 373386 and 956143. However the later was not placed on VRBO until late 2017 (6 years after its sister unit), so its reviews are also under 373386. However as you read the reviews, the guest (especially the ones that rented both at the same time) find the experience great with either unit. Please see unit 373386 for reviews of 956143.

These are beautiful 2011, again in 2014, and again in 2017 renovated three bedroom (one bedroom is a large loft), two bath with vaulted ceilings on the 4th floor at the fantastic Papakea Resort! Our Condo's remodels in August 2011 was by well known high end Builder/Designer Mike Harvey. You will not believe how great it turned out as the pictures do not do this unit justice (again see reviews :-) ). The kitchen's are decked out with “Exotic wood” cabinets accented with all Stainless Steel Appliances and Gorgeous Granite counter tops. The bedroom's have been furnished with the same high end furniture used in the top hotels in Kaanapali Beach. Imagine waking up in the morning and looking out your bedroom window (373386) and seeing a serene coy pond, lush green lawns with putting green, with the back drop of a whale filled turquoise ocean, nothing closer to heaven! (956143) master is secluded away from the common grounds (This is the most common format in Papakea). The second bedroom has been outfitted with a Queen Bed with the same high end furniture (the whole unit has these great furnishings). The third bedroom, the loft, stands at top of a classic spiral staircase (373386) or a straight staircase (956143). It is a giant space so it has both a queen bed and two twin beds and still plenty of room to spare. We also added a sleeper sofa in the family room just in case you need to add two more people to your party allowing up to 10 people.

Second renovation included state of the art mini-split multi-zoned A/C. The only A/C you should demand from your rental. Each room has its own register and it can actually pull the humidity out of the room and cool, VERY FAST! No more waiting all day just to get the room 2 degrees cooler! We also put in wood floors in the bedrooms and loft (SOME PICTURES STILL HAVE OLD CARPETING IN THEM). See below for reasons, they are important.

Third renovation is adding new French Sliding doors to the Lanai, and tiling the Lanai! (Pictures may still have old Lanai doors and no tiles on them).

State of the art KEYLESS Entry system. Now you can walk on the beach, swim, play and not have to carry an annoying key or key card with you. Your whole party will have access and you can not forget your key inside.

Papakea resort is a beautifully landscaped, low-rise complex of 4 story buildings on 13 acres at north end of Kaanapali Beach. It Includes 2 swimming pools, 12 barbecues, 2 spa's, 2 shuffleboards, 3 lighted tennis courts, 2 putting greens, and many more Extras!!! This condo is not only perfect for your family vacation but also great for family reunions, weddings, etc. You will not find this any where else on Maui!!! Great deal!!

WHY RENOVATION 2.0 and 3.0:

To some this second renovation may not seem like much, but in Hawaii, these costs were very significant. In fact the cost of just these two items on this second renovation was more than 25% of the first renovation’s cost!

The new A/C was because our past guest were given a chance to tell us their top recommendations for our units. The most common (two) was the A/C. The issue, these wall units do not remove the humidity very well, take many hours to cool, and then only seem to cool a couple of degrees. They also leak a lot of water because the water they take out of the air, they put into a pan on the bottom of the A/C expecting evaporation to remove (which does not), which has its own set of issues. After installing and using the new units, we can say that nobody should ever have the other style or even no A/C. We use them very little ourselves, but sometimes removing the humidity from the air makes a world of difference in comfort. And to do it, you only need to run the A/C in that one room for a short amount of time, not all day!

As for the carpets, well that was the second most recommendation. Although we all love carpets, there are two issues that came up, one is they look dirty too easily and make the place look not as nice, second is the environment is already very warm, and it is nicer to have a cooler feeling under your feet. Not to mention that the wood floors are just so much richer looking.

The sliding doors from the original build do not operate easily, and can not be repaired because the tracks malformed with time. Almost all the units at Papakea have this issue, so expect this to be a problem if the units have not been updated.

As you read our reviews, you will see that we pride ourselves on doing our best to provide one of the best, if not the best, vacation experience you can have. VRBO's quick booking business philosophy does not create both the trust between you the guest and us the Owners. This trust is why you see that we have one of the most reviewed units. We can only make you feel good about your stay, if we make sure your expectations are accurately set from the beginning and deliver on them. So PLEASE make that first email before book it now. I am sure you will find it was worth it!

Note: Winter of 2018 was hard on the beaches on the island. As such the beach next door was not in great condition. The resorts all say this is cyclical and the beach will return. But just wanted you to know.
