Our "Hale Honu" (turtle house) is a rare find in Kona. There are many ocean view homes in Kona but very few beach front properties. You can walk out the back door to your own semi-private beach and drop yourself in the sand. Watch the whales, dolphins and manta rays. Turtles find this beach a quiet and peaceful resting place so enjoy them from a distance as they sleep on the sand. A few minutes down the beach you will see native Hawaiian Petroglyphs and Heiau's. You will not have to leave the property to enjoy all the amazing culture.

Look out over the grassy lawn from your lanai that previews the tropical shrubbery where your own path to the beach (with orange hibiscus flowers on each side) is only a few steps away. The beach is an oasis to put on reef walker shoes and explore the home of Hawaiian sea turtles or to spread out beach chairs or mats and share some first-class beach time with those you love. All sorts of tropical birds are attracted to the lush tropical growth in our location and will often wait for a treat just off the lanai.

Enjoy your oceanfront location with seating for four at a large dining table with glass top in the shade of your covered lanai with overhead ceiling fan. Stretch out on the lounge if you are trying to add to that summer tan. Have a morning cup of Kona coffee with your breakfast that can be handed via a pass through window from the kitchen or in the evening; have a BBQ or your own prepared gourmet dinner with an incredible sunset for your backdrop. There is no better location in any restaurant in Kona.

Located on world-famous Ali'i Drive the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club is a 4-star Oceanfront Resort located 4.5 miles south of Kailua-Kona town. This gated complex is just 1/8 mile away from the Keauhou Shopping Center, which has a grocery store, restaurants, shops, a bank, a post office and a cinema. Even better ,we are a 1/2 mile from one of the most popular snorkeling beaches in Hawaii - Kahalu'u State Park (also known as Turtle Beach).

Your home away from home is a two story, two bed, two bath island home close to both the pool and ocean in your backyard. This home has been beautifully decorated with an elegant but homey quaint romantic cottage feel. It was recently remodeled to include: AC throughout, new appliances and everything you would need to call home and have a great vacation.
Watch the sunset from the beach or your Lanai and enjoy the sunrise in your bed looking out over the water and waves. Enjoy all the attention to details for your full enjoyment to include high speed WiFi, iPhone speakers, Netflix and more. This is the perfect place for you to get away and enjoy all of what Kona has to offer. Make yourself at home. AC fee is part of your stay and will be included in your booking fees . Stays over 10 days require additional cleaning fee .

Of course the location and views were amazing. However something we really appreciated was the coziness of this unit. The furniture and decor (yes there was actually artwork on the walls) was well thought out and beautiful. It was nice to be in a unit that felt like it had been decorated intentionally and not with household leftovers and garage sale finds… like many Hawaii rentals seem to be. This was a great size for my husband and I and our adult son and fiancé. We had everything we need plus more (not sure why there are so many brooms in this unit, but ok). The AC was comfortable, kitchen well stocked albeit snug, and the keyless entry is always a plus! The complex is quiet and tucked away from the Ali’i road noise too. Pool is pleasant but we didn’t make use of tennis courts since it was so warm while we were visiting. Oh, only downside was the smart TV downstairs is not-so-smart. A small $50-70 Roku would fix that though!

I can’t think of enough good things to say, and no negative. First and most important, the host was really nice and responded to questions quickly. You’ve seen a description of the condo, so I won’t rehash it. One thing of note: the bedrooms are real rooms, not paper walls like in many other rentals. The beds are very comfortable, better than my bed at home. The waves crashing on the rocks right outside was awesome. And great sunsets from the patio overlooking the ocean. One thing to know - the beach here is a mix of volcanic rock, broken coral, and pea size gravel. At least in October the waves were too rough and too many large rocks for any swimming, surfing, or snorkeling here. But there is a beach a half mile away with that. Overall this place was great, nice condo, nice grounds, very quiet, and that view! I would absolutely stay again and encourage you to stay here.

My husband, son and I enjoyed our stay at the turtle house. It is located right on the beach (swimming is possible at high tide) and we saw the infamous turtles. It was a short drive to Kona and to Captain Cook’s monument. The condo had everything we needed. Plus lots of amenities on the property including ping pong table and pickle ball. It was great to have paddles as well as beach gear for our use. We were sad to leave this beautiful island.

Our stay at this property was just wonderful! It fit our family of 5 perfect. The grounds, view, location to town/beaches, pool were outstanding. The condo had everything we needed. The beach equipment was great. Having laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, etc already available was such a nice touch. Mahalo for our time at your beautiful place! We will be talking about this trip for a long time. 🌺

The main picture on VRBO is very accurate! The property is in a great location for Sunsets and relaxing by the ocean. The townhome was a little smaller than expected but other than that it suited us just fine. We snorkeled only once in that area bc it’s too rocky but we waded out amongst the volcanic rock and saw plenty of fish, turtles and other sea life. The pool was great and a good place to go to cool off after a long day of sightseeing. ‘The townhome could use some maintenance and updates but was well stocked and great location. We were very happy with our stay!

What a lovely stay. We felt lucky to be at one of the units that had A/C, it was so useful when we were there. The picture from the view on the website doesn't do it justice - we rushed back from a day out to make it in time to see the sunset from the lanai, playing board games, having drinks and eating snacks with our kids. The unit is well stocked for beachgoers - umbrella, beach toys for little kids, beach chairs, a mat. We cooked daily in the kitchen as well, which was also well stocked. The fridge has filtered water and ice. All in all, we hope the unit will be available when we visit Big Island again.

This property has an amazing view of the ocean. We got to see turtles and lots of crabs from the shoreline. 2 miles down there are lots of stores and restaurants. The house is fully equipped to cook if that is what you want to do, there is a washer and dryer and a nice patio to sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the waves. The only downside is the air conditioning. Not being able to run all three at the same time was a little bit of a downer because it was so humid, but that was explained well in advance. Overall it was a great stay.

This was our first trip to the Big Island. The townhome was exactly as the pictures showed and was even better than I expected. Location was perfect right on the ocean with views of full moon at night and sunset every evening. The beach steps away was perfect for marine life and turtles. The unit was stocked with everything we needed including beach chairs, toys, and boogie boards. Pool and grounds were amazing. We would return to this unit if ever again on Big Island.

It was lovely, just as the pictures show. The beds and linens were comfortable. The grounds, the pool and tennis courts are well cared for. I walked up to the shopping centre and used the trolley one day, which was a handy option as well.

We love the KKSRC! Very convenient location, close to everything. The units and grounds are kept very clean. We saw whales and turtles from the back patio. Kahalu'u snorkeling beach is amazing and only 200 yards away. We would reserve this unit again.

Everything was great, no issues Arrived in evening and was dark Directions were very good, but… Unit is to your right - toward water - once you park. Self evident in daylight, less clear if not familiar. Fan on main floor need to have switch on for light over kitchen table. My two helpful hints. Nancy was great, everything was really nice. Would go again!

Neither the gate code or door code we were sent worked upon arrival. The property manager was quick to give us a call irking code after we called, but we were still stuck outside the door for over 20 minutes trying codes. Then when we get inside and the Air conditioner, that we paid an additional fee for, had signs stating not to run all the rooms at the same time or it would freeze. Meaning we had to constantly run around turning them on and off depending on who was in what room. Considering we paid extra for the use of AC it was a major inconvenience that should have been mentioned in the listing. The upstairs units also had some growth and smelled when turned on. This unit also has a fairly high cleaning fee, and despite that there were implicit instructions that we do the dishes and clean up, and we would be charged extra if they had to clean the kitchen. If you aren’t going to use the cleaning fee for cleaning services then just be honest and build the price into a higher nightly rates. I would not have booked the unit had I known the above issues.

Excellent location by a wonderful and sparsely populated tide pool beach. The master bedroom is everything good. Incredibly comfy bed, and heavenly views of the water. The ocean is so close its almost like being on a boat. Lulled to sleep by the sound of waves every night. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Loved it.

This place was super easy to find and right on the water with fantastic sunset views! There was a small problem with one of the appliances prior to our arrival and the property manager let me know ahead of our arrival and she took care of the problem right away. It was unusually hot during our stay (highs in the upper 80s F) so having the AC on was really helpful. Stayed here with 6 adults total and it worked out well. It seems like most vrbo/airbnb properties in Hawaii have high cleaning fees (you don't see until you're ready to make the payment) and still expect you to do a bit of cleaning. So keep an eye out for that but hard to avoid.

Prime location to listen to the music of waves and to enjoy breathtaking sunsets from the lanai. The condo is comfortable, quiet, clean, and has everything one may need for a relaxed holiday. We found it spacious enough for our family of four, The community is gated and secure. Nancy was pleasant in all communications and prompt to answer any questions I had. Thank you for our fantastic stay.

Great location with lots of wonderful beaches and restraints nearby. Only issue was there was a significant amount of construction on the property during the stay so there were workers everywhere around the building. Great place, I’m sure the work will improve the property, just wish we hadn’t been around it. Great for kids and families.

This was our first trip to Kona. This condo will not disappoint, from the beautiful views, sound of the ocean, and the accommodations inside the condo. Nothing beats going to sleep and waking up to the amazing views and sound of the crashing waves just steps from the condo. It is fully equipped with very nice appliances to make this a perfect home away from home. We cooked majority of our dinners and breakfast at the condo. It is located just South of Kona and we had access to great restaurants and stores. I highly recommend contacting Tina who is their concierge, she is a wealth of knowledge and can help plan out your trip. Nancy and Tina are both very responsive and their ultimate goal is to make sure you have an enjoyable time at the Turtle House. Amazing snorkeling is minutes away and their are several nearby beaches and attractions. We toured the entire island and had a wonderful trip. We have two children, both teenagers and their was plenty of room.

Steps from the water. We watched whale’s breaching right from the lanai. The beds, pillows and linens were wonderful. It worked out great for a party of four.

We were very taken with the location and the expansive view and sound of the ocean from the lanai, master bedroom suite, living room area, kitchen and upstairs bathroom. The two story provided that the master bedroom allowed you to fall asleep while watching the moon dancing across the ocean, and upon waking you could see that that the sun was about to rise or risen. What a beautiful way to fall asleep and wake. The unit is nice and completely stocked with kitchen utensils and such. It was nice to have a washer/dryer in the unit. The complex is lovely, the pool was nice, we appreciated being 5 miles south of the Kona town center. We would happily rent the unit again.

The unit is well equipped and maintained, the landscaping is beautiful and its right on the beach. The snorkelling is good just off the rocks and the pool is great after a hot day of being a tourist. We found the location convenient for both shopping (Alii Market, nearby shopping centre and Kona) and for getting around the island. There are fantastic sights all around the island. Visit everything time allows. Overall I highly recommend Hale Honu.

November 2018
Perfect spot. To my wife's delight, shopping (uugggh) was close. Dining (yum) was everywhere close. The ocean was right outside your door (or window for you inside people). Look, this isn't a $5000 a night luxury hotel villa. This is a very reasonable and well equipped little townhouse in a great spot. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the turtle house. We did not see any turtles at the turtle house. Maybe it's seasonal, but we sure saw turtles elsewhere so it's all good. I have a couple tips for you first time visitors (as we were) to the big island. Kahalu'u Beach is only .3 miles from the townhouse. Yes, 1/3 of a mile. That's a 6 minute walk as per google maps. The snorkeling there is awesome. We wasted a bunch of money renting a boat and riding that thing all the way to Captain Cooks because we heard it was the snorkeling capital of Hawaii. Not. Kahalu'u beach is better and you have access right from the shore. Rough access for an old man like me but still access. For great sand and swimming, go just north of the airport or go further to Hapuna Beach. Don't forget the black sand beach at Pahalu'u Beach at mile marker 56 on your way to the Volcano. There you get to see the turtles. How can you not love a vacation like that? Book your stay. It's a very decent place at great rates and the location is everything. I'm really glad we got the A/C. It was very hot and humid at the end of October. Sleeping with some cooling air was awesome, then back up in the morning for more of beautiful Hawaii. Malaho.

Really enjoyed the Keauhou area. Condo was tight for 4 persons. Had to pay extra $99 for 3 nights of A/C but was needed to stay comfortable and worth it.

Great place which accommodated 2 couples for 6 nights in paradise. The property location is perfect for walks on the beach area right outside the door. Close to a grocery store, pharmacy, a coffee farm (Greenwell) and a few breweries (Kona - which has food and Ola). We saw turtles almost every day just a short walk from the condo, which was really cool. I strongly recommend the AC if visiting during periods of 85+F/29.4+C and high humidity, we opted for the AC prior to our trip because the temp was consistently 90+F/32.2C during the day and just a bit cooler for the evening with very high humidity. When visiting Hawaii again in the future, if this location is available, then we will book it again.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
