The property was awesome! The lanai was great. We loved sitting out on the lanai and watching the sunset. We loved having the kitchen were we could make food and being able to do wash while we were there was so nice. The property management company was amazing and responsive to work with before and during the trip. We hope to stay there again and so appreciate the great service we received.

Honua Kai is a great resort, located perfecting on a giant long beach with great sand and waves safe enough to body surf. The Pools are nice, and we were always able to find a couple chairs to relax and watch our kid swim and enjoy the waterslide. Poolside drink/food service was quick and tasty.
The suite was incredible, great view, comfy beds, everything you need to enjoy your vacation and feel like you're home. They also provide a cooler and some beach chairs which were very handy. My only suggestion is that some basic cleaning supplies be available. It would've been nice to be able to wipe the finger smudges from our kid off the open-air door to the deck and also a dustpan to collect crumbs and sand.
Tip... Dukes books up fast so if you're trying to eat get reservations set before your trip or just plan to order food at the pool or leave and enjoy many places to eat in Lahaina.

The property is in a really great spot for families, the pools are well maintained and I love the towel system, so easy to use. We have visited Maui several times and this was the second time at this location. It’s nice having a quality restaurant on site, and the location is a short walk to the food trucks and the grocery store. This unit had all the basics, and it was a great space for our teenagers.

We had a great time in Kaanapali at the Honua Kai. The unit had beach stuff and was well equipped for cooking, was clean and had great views and the location near Lahaina was excellent. Our only nits were: the checkin welcome was not very Hawaiian or nice (it didn't seem like they cared), they initially gave us a 5pm checkin and a 10a checkout, which were both strange, and the chair situation left something to be desired. Trying to get 4 chairs near each other after 10am was trying. Place could probably use a refresh and better hospitality but also might need to stay at the Westin Villas for that. Overall was a great stay for a good value.

This unit is exactly as pictured, in fact, it was larger than we were expecting. My husband and I and our 20 year old daughter stayed here for a week and loved having the extra space to spread out and multiple large bathrooms. Though we did very little eating in our unit, it was nice to have the full kitchen as well as the washer and dryer. It was also super clean. The view is beautiful and we really liked the resort. It has got everything you need but it's not huge or overly crowded. I can't really comment on the pool area because we are more beach people and never used it, but it looked nice. There is super easy access to the beach and a nice outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand when you return. Resort is close enough to the action to be convenient but closer to some of the less crowded grocery and food options on the north end of the Kaanapali area. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Maui. We had a great time!
