When I booked Aunty Kali's Cottage, I never imagined that paradise would be ours for a week. I'll tell you that the pictures really don't do it justice. The views of the ocean at sunset, the beautiful native plants and flowers, and even the wildlife (mongooses and all!). Having a pool and bar even made the cottage the Happy Hour spot for our family to come to before dinner.
Aunty Kali was also amazing, greeting us with a warm smile and a delicious homemade banana bread. She was so attentive and hospitable and we will, without doubt, be returning time and time again.

We've stayed at this property multiple times over multiple years. It is by far the best place to stay that we've experienced in decades of traveling to Maui. The host (Carrie) is pleasant and caring and really wants to make sure that you have a great time while you're on site and has become someone who we look forward to seeing every year. The house itself is a great size (not too big, not too small), but the real special part are the outside areas that allow for pure relaxation. You'll see amazing sunsets while relaxing alongside the pool. It's as good as it gets.

Move over Disneyland, we found THE most magical place on earth.
We booked this cottage for our 30th Anniversary, looking for a private, relaxing getaway, and we were not disappointed! From the moment we stepped through the double doors to the PRIVATE pool/outdoor bar/outdoor barbecue and 2 separate outdoor showers, it was breathtakingly beautiful and by far exceeded our expectations!
The cottage is beautiful, very clean (I didn’t see one bug in the house our entire stay) and very well stocked with everything you need to prepare your own meals. It definitely had the home away from home feel. The cottage may be in the back of the hosts home, however, they did a great job of separating the two so it is extremely private with your own entrance. We rarely saw the hosts (giving us our privacy) but they were available if we needed anything.

This oasis was beautiful, but for the price.. it could have been better. The pool was dirty up until the pool guy got there halfway through our stay, this attracted more mosquitoes and bugs than it normally would. There were tiny beetles in the house itself, due to the live plants that are in the home. They have avoided cleaning out a kitchen cabinet that has old medicine and food in it. They keep alcohol in the outdoor bar that has been open and used. The pool shed is especially dirty with snorkel masks that have bugs all inside the breathing tubes. Although they don’t have bed bugs that I seen, they also didn’t have a bed bug cover to protect themselves from getting bed bugs. Although the place was private, it wasn’t really all that private as it was in their backyard. They no longer have a private chef that they are close to and can have come to you and as far as I could tell, a masseuse. You are however able to find one yourself and have them come to you. The people that own the property are really nice people, and greet you every time they see you. We did really like them, but nearly $1000 a night for 2 people? For that price alone, the place should be maintained a little better. You can find resorts cheaper than that with a lot better maintenance and better privacy. The place is private and gorgeous, with a decent view of Wailea and the ocean in the distance. We did enjoy our stay a lot, but if I could give advice, don’t go for a honeymoon.

This was our first visit to Hawaii, for my 50th and our son’s 16th birthdays, and it was exactly the special place we had in mind to celebrate those milestones. Carrie considered every detail - from welcome treats and delicious home-baked banana bread to beach gear to a fully-stocked kitchen to the gorgeous pool and gardens - we didn’t want or need for anything during our stay. It was very close to the resorts of Wailea, many beautiful beaches, shopping and restaurants.
We were here during the devastating Maui wildfires and felt extremely fortunate to be staying in this peaceful oasis. We are praying for Maui’s recovery and hope to be lucky enough to return again. We would recommend this cottage to anyone visiting Maui.

Auntie Kali's Cottage is, indeed, magical. The landscaping is beyond lush. You will enjoy the birds serenading you in the morning. We only used the outdoor shower even though there are two inside. Carrie has decorated and stocked the cottage so well. It is indeed a tropical paradise. She , truly, has thought of everything. I am ambivalent about my talking about this “Hawaiian cottage“. Ambivalent because I want to tote it’s many excellent features which include privacy, pool, country feel, comfortable bed, excellent outside shower, first class chase lounges and furniture as well as the tiki bar. On the other hand I do not want a lot of people to know about it because it decreases its availability for my own use in the future. Carrie, The manager, could not have been more welcoming even though she was out of town. She make sure her brother was here to welcome us and walk us through the property. Her mother Jean, 96, baked us a wonderful loaf of mango bread. We want to come back.

I honestly don't think it gets better than Auntie Kali's cottage in Maui. We have stayed a lot of places over the years and both my husband and I agreed this was one of the best places we've ever stayed. We will definitely be back for a return stay in the future. The outdoor space really make the experience - from the lush landscaping, pool, fire pit, outdoor bar to the grill & hot tub, we joked that we used every inch of the place. Carrie, Chris, Dan and Grandma Jean are also some of the most thoughtful & kind hosts you will ever come across. In particular, Grandma Jean's homemade mango bread blew us away. We bought banana bread on the Road to Hana and agreed her mango bread was much better. Also worth noting that we brought our 2 year old with us and the walk in shallow area of the pool area was so perfect for him. We also really appreciated that the cottage had a toddler sized life jacket and sand and beach toys in addition to beach chairs, an umbrella, beach towels and a small cooler that made trips to the beach (when you can pull yourself away from the amazing pool) a breeze. Carrie, Chris, Dan & Grandma Jean - THANK YOU! We can't wait to return. Grandma Jean - our two year old loved you :)

Carrie and her family were the best hosts. We could not have asked for anything more. Our flight was delayed so we didn’t get to the cottage until after dark and Carrie had the yard lit up for us—the photos do not do it justice! My husband and I were in awe of the property. It is amazing. I couldn’t get over all the beautiful tropical plants. The view of the surrounding islands is gorgeous. The pool and hot tub are fantastic and on our “exploring” days, coming back afterward to relax in them and enjoy the property was the perfect end to the day. Even on the days we just hung out at the cottage, it was excellent - we felt like we were in paradise. I’d get up at sunrise just to watch and listen to nature come alive around me. If you enjoy bird watching, you will have entertainment all day long at the cottage. While I was in the (wonderful) outdoor shower, a red crested cardinal hopped right over and then flew to the tree branch in front of the shower. Amazing! We even saw zebra dove babies. The cottage was clean and beyond fully stocked, we had all we needed and then some. Grandma Jean’s banana bread and the apple bananas fresh from the yard were the icing on the cake. Thank you for giving us the best honeymoon ever! I cried before we left bc I was so sad to leave the property. It was heavenly and we hope to return!

...or IT SHOULD BE! If you see this property for rent, book it! We were so fortunate enough to have found dates to book that worked with our schedule. When we arrived we were greeted by Carrie and Grandma Jean with homemade banana bread and fruit waiting for us. Talk about above and beyond hospitality. The property was seriously something out of a magazine. Our own oasis, which our daughter loved every bit of. Carrie truly thought of everything. I can honalestly say we've never stayed in a more pristine location in all of our travels. This by far takes the cake. We will, with upmost certainty, be back.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time while staying at the cottage. We were impressed with the luscious landscape and how perfect the cottage is setup. We found it like a home away from home as it was fully stocked. We wanted to go to the beach but it was so nice we stayed in the private pool and enjoyed the Sun and sounds of tropical birds. The pictures really do not capture the beauty and serenity this tropical oasis provides.

This private paradise was PERFECT. The property is quiet and secluded, with a beautiful ocean view, sparkling pool, charming cottage and tiki bar. We found it nearly too good to be true. Evening visits from a herd of deer (who came to drink from a trough below the yard) was the icing on the cake. Local beaches are an easy ~5 minute drive away, as are terrific restaurants.

We loved every minute of our stay at this amazing Cottage. The private pool and backyard dining area (complete with lounge chairs, Tiki bar, dining tables, BBQ, outdoor shower, grass lawn to name just some of the features) were landscaped beautifully, and embodied everything that makes Maui such a wonderful place. My family stayed at Auntie Kali's Cottage in November 2022. It was truly a dream property. The whole place is beautiful and Carrie has thought of everything. The kitchen has all the tools you need for cooking (even an amazing pineapple corer that is my new favorite gadget!). There are tools for the grill, firewood for the fire pit, floaties for the pool, and coolers and beach chairs for the beach.
The house is very private and located right next to a nature preserve where you can watch birds and see the deer. There is a view of the ocean, and all the beaches of Kihei and Wailea are just a short drive away.
Carrie's mom baked fresh banana bread for our arrival and Carrie generously answered all of our questions. I can't recommend Auntie Kali's Cottage enough!

The moment you step into your private oasis you will find it hard to leave. Backed up to a private wildlife reserve your views go on forever into the sunset. The pool is warmer than most and the spa is perfect. Really enjoyed the firepit on nights were we wanted to just relax after the sun. Love this place and will be back again. My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with the Cottage, Tropical Grounds, Pool, Tiki Bar and everything else. My husband and I stay at Aunt Kali’s cottage with our two boys ages 8 and 10. It was an absolute dream. From the moment we arrived, we felt like family. Walking through the doors feels like you’re entering a secret garden. Words can not describe how magical Aunt Kali’s cottage is. The cottage is the absolute cutest, with the most comfortable beds. In the evenings we couldn’t decide whether to relax in the hot tub or crawl into those cozy beds right away. The outside is indescribably perfect. The outdoor shower is incredible! The tiki bar has everything you could possibly need. The perfect spot for a cold drink! The pool, hot tub and view makes it unnecessary to ever leave the house at all! We had an absolutely perfect visit to Aunt Kali’s. We feel forever lucky to have had to opportunity to stay and look forward to future stays! Thank you to you, Carrie, Dan and Grandma Jean. We chose this location based on the photos of the property, description and reviews. Let me start by saying this was the first time we went on vacation and not ready to return home at the end of our stay. The description of the property and photos are spot on. Carrie is a wonderful host. You truly have the location to yourself as a home away from home. The atmosphere is very peaceful and private. There are no interruptions and Carrie is very accommodating. I highly recommend this rental to anyone visiting Maui. We have selected our dates to return and we are very much looking forward to our return visit. We love this place!

This property is so beautiful! It was our private oasis and a great way to finally travel after Covid-19. Carrie was more than your average property owner but she was warm, friendly and throughout our time there she was always ensuring we were having a good time. Carrie and her family are very welcoming and grandma even baked us fresh banana bread. They all made us feel so comfortable as if we were apart of the family. The cottage is as described. It's so adorable and the backyard is your private oasis and very much a 5 start accommodations. Waking up on the morning and hearing the birds chirping, deer walking by and all the sounds of nature was exactly what the doctor ordered. This cottage had all the things you needed that you wouldn't even think of. From Beach chairs, beach towels, robes, cable tv, outdoor market lighting, firepit, outdoor kitchen and bar to yoga mats and even washer/dryer. Some say you can't have it all but in this cottage, you sure can. Thank you for a wonderful family experience.

This property is truly paradise! Behind the doors is your own private oasis with the most lush landscaping, pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, shower, comfy furniture and great view of the ocean and island. Beach is very close. The cottage is stocked so well with everything you need. The beds are very comfortable. You are provided everything you need - beach chairs, towels, coolers, snorkel equipment, floats. The pictures truly represent the oasis. The hosts are wonderful and we really enjoyed getting to know them and now have a new Hawaiian family ! We cannot wait to go back and will always stay here.

The cottage was everything and more then I expected. We felt so privileged staying there. It was honestly the best place we have ever stayed. The cottage is comfortable, clean and decorated with so much thought. The outside area was paradise and we never wanted to leave. Loved the cottage! Carrie was wonderful and responsive. Wonderful greeting when we arrived with homemade touches (which I will not give away).Cottage was clean, quiet, private, and fabulous! It had everything we could possibly need. The backyard was perfect for us. We hardly stayed in the cottage except to sleep (and the bed was wonderful). We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, grilling, and using the outdoor kitchen for lunch and drinks all day. Auntie Kali's cottage is almost indescribable! I would give it 10 stars if allowed. You may think it looks great from the excellent photos, but it is actually MUCH better in a way that can't be captured in pictures. The place is gorgeous beyond compare with ALL of the amenities one could imagine. Carrie is the ultimate host. The home is beautifully decorated and totally stocked. I asked her for many activity referrals prior to our arrival. She answered promptly and her selections were spot on. She even found us a private chef to prepare dinner on property the night of our kids' anniversary. Lush, serene, stunning are but a few adjectives one can chose but you really need to experience it to understand. Oh, did I mention that the outdoor shower is fabulous , the pool heated , and that the Tiki Bar has a full refrigerator AND a second dishwasher? Obviously, I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, we will be back again and again. Thank you, Carrie, for a fabulous week in paradise.

I sent my son and his new bride to Auntie Kali's Cottage for their honeymoon and Carrie went above and beyond to make sure their stay was perfect!! This property is located in a residential community (Maui Meadows) however when you are on site at the property you do not feel that way at all. You enter through a gate with a code provided and drive through a U-shaped drive on the property. The cottage is on the far end facing a large open space with a partial view of the ocean. You enter through your own private gate which is lockable. Once you enter the gate you actually feel completely separated from the neighbor's on either side as well as the owners home. They have done a great job with large palm trees and all kinds of vegetation blocking out all views from all sides. So if you're reading this and are concerned or were just wondering where the property was that's essentially the setup and it's a good one.
Inside the cottage, there are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and believe it or not, the noise level between the two rooms is at a minimum. It was just my wife and I this trip but I would often use the restroom in the other bedroom and while in there I could never hear my wife talking and she couldn't hear me so sound insulation is pretty good.
As far as Carrie and Jim, if you want to be secluded and do not want to have a lot of interaction they are very good with that. That includes their dogs (which are cute). Well, my wife and I are huge dog lovers and own dogs our self, however, on this trip, we were taking a vacation from everybody and didn't want to be bothered so as long as you keep the gate closed you will never see the dogs if you don't want to. We also explained to Carrie and Jim that we wanted to have a very quiet private vacation and throughout our stay, they did just that. We ended up interacting with Jim the most, and he was delightful to speak with. The one time we did need something, Carrie arranged a snorkeling tour for us which was, in fact, the very best available anywhere on the island in my opinion.
You are about a 2-minute drive from the shops at Wailea so if you need groceries, alcohol, or just want to eat or shop everything was within a few minutes including the beach.
Almost everything else has been answered already so I hope this helps anybody reading. In the end, if you're looking for a place with your own private pool, hot tub, Tiki Bar, Fire Pit, BBQ, and wonderful outdoor shower and lots of privacy you will highly enjoy

If you are looking for somewhere to stay, while vacationing in Maui, look no further. Carrie and Jim were the most gracious of hosts. They were attentive to any and all needs we had, while still affording us the privacy we wanted for our wedding/honeymoon. The cottage, contents of the cottage, grounds and pool left us wanting for nothing. I simply cannot think of anything that was lacking, in any way. The privacy of the whole grounds and cottage were sublime. I am so overjoyed that we opted not to stay at one of the large and crowded resorts nearby. The views were stunning. I just have to mention; the outdoor shower? I swear it was like heaven. Never showered inside the cottage. There really aren't enough positive adjectives to properly describe this property. The stay was just heavenly from the first second that we arrived, to the last second that we left. We are already talking about going back and would never dream of staying anywhere but here!
Thank you Jim and Carrie for everything! Your bit of heaven was a tremendous slice of what made our wedding/honeymoon, engraved in our memories, so very precious and special. MAHALO!!

My wife and I loved the pictures, but we booked because of the five-star reviews. We brought our four-year old to Maui for the first time and wanted our own place away from the beach. Though we started most our days at the beach, we couldn't wait to return to the cottage. Being a cottage, the house is small, but super clean, comfortable, and it was stocked with everything. We spent most our time outside because of the amazing pool, yard, palapa, outdoor shower, grill, view, etc. If that wasn't enough, the owners were incredibly available and responsive throughout our stay. WE CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!!!

You park on a private drive and then walk through the gate from the main house to the guest house and you are taken to your own private oasis complete with a lush tropical setting that offers a view of the ocean, walk in pool and hot tub, Tiki bar, lounge seating for 28 (we counted), outdoor shower and bath, washer and dryer area and then the lovely cottage! We had such a great time. We were so close to everything.

We had an amazing stay at this cottage with our 2.5 year old daughter. The grounds were more expansive and beautiful than we expected. This place is amazing! It is very private and has everything you need. Carrie and Jim are awesome hosts. Without a doubt, this is the best equipped VRBO we have ever stayed in -- nice appliances, cookware, cutlery, plenty of dishes -- in both the house and tiki bar. I could go on and on . . . The best part was just relaxing around the beautiful pool. Wish it was closer so we could get there more often.

When we got there Carrie and Jim met us and gave us the tour. It is a beautiful place and everything that you could want on a Maui vacation. We enjoyed the pool, Jacuzzi and even roasted marshmallows at the fire pit. We were about a 4 minute drive to the beach, but we enjoyed the house more than the beach. We are coming back soon!

I almost hesitate to rave about this fantastic property as I would rather keep it a secret so we can come back any time and don't run into any booking issues due to overdemand. But let's call a spade a spade: What a great cottage and property as such. The pics don't do it justice, esp. the outside space. We had to force ourselves to go to the beach and do some of the must do activities on Maui. Plus Carrie & Jim (and Carrie's parents Jean and Gene and the dogs) are the best.

Just like every other review here, we can't give enough praise for this property. Every single detail accounted for - and then some. Jim is very talented and has done top notch work here. Pictures are wonderful as shown here, but in person the surroundings are even more awesome. Carrie is a beautiful soul that is for sure, the fruit and chocolates on our pillows upon arrival was just the very tip of the iceberg.... These are people who truly care about others. Grandma Jean's banana bread was to die for...another unexpected surprise. I know, I know, this is a review of the property...but I can't help it! The three dogs are so full of personality it was an unexpected bonus to see them every day. For those of you who don't want to see people or dogs, don't fret. If you don't want to see anyone at all, well, that is absolutely possible and easy to do.
As for location, just minutes to shopping and beaches and restaurants. This is a property that cannot be beat if you are looking for a place to stay in South Maui!!! Thanks Carrie and Jim for sharing your property with the lot of us.

We just returned from Auntie Kali's Cottage and it really is perfect. I have never seen such attention to detail, we were noticing new features every day. We had high expectations for this place based on the photos and previous reviews, and somehow it was even better than we expected. The pool and bar area were my favorite but the entire place is amazing. They have basically created a private 5 star resort in their backyard. The hosts were great. Very friendly and there when you need them and total privacy when you want it. The cottage is completely walled off from their residence so you can just shut the door and it's totally private. The location was great, just up the hill from Wailea and Kihei. Our stay really could not have been any better.

What a great two weeks we had at the cottage! Two couples called this place home for two weeks. You will not be disappointed as Carrie has thought of everything! Once you walk through the garden doors you know you have arrived in a hidden paradise. The highlights are your own pool,hot tub and tiki bar and a fire pit for the evenings. Carrie and her family truly make you feel at home and part of their family. And of course the dogs, Willie K and Georgia were a hit with everyone. Would highly recommend and we cannot wait to come back!

From the moment you step foot on the grounds you know you've arrived somewhere quite special, charming, and peaceful. The host and hostess are a lovely couple who are friendly and engaging. The cottage surpassed our expectations; well equipped kitchen, very clean, quality linens and comfortable beds, shabby chic decor with a little island style, all things needed for the beach from boogie boards to coolers. We adored the outdoor shower-- the view is pure bliss. The private spa was the perfect way to begin our day with a cup of coffee while listening to the birds and watching the beautiful sunrise. Sunsets are spectacular too. It is quite romantic with the sweet lights that adorn the place. The cottage is tastefully appointed inside and out.The outdoor grill was where we barbequed many nights. The fire pit was a great place to unwind after a fun filled day at the cottage or beach. We can't wait to visit again.

We stayed at Auntie Kali's cottage this past Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. The property has everything you could want or need for a magical private getaway. The cottage is decorated in a beautiful Hawaiian style, the landscaping surrounding the cottage and the pool is amazing. You have your own outdoor bar beside the pool, comfortable lounge chairs, tables and outdoor shower. The sunsets from the spa are incredible. This is a perfect cottage for a family. Lots of beach chairs, toys and towels are provided. You can't go wrong in this Hawaiian paradise.

Stop your search for a Maui vacation rental and book this cottage! It has everything you could possibly need for an adventure-packed or relaxation-filled vacation. My husband and I just spent 5 of our 13 day Hawaii honeymoon there and it blew us away! We spent most of our days packing the jeep with coolers of snacks, beach chairs & umbrellas, boogie boards (all of which the house has!) and would hit the various beaches a stones throw from the cottage. Around 3pm each day we would come back to the cottage, lounge by the pool and grill. Some of our best meals on maui we're prepared by us! Being someone who loves to cook, I was concerned we'd have limited utensils & supplies but I was so wrong! We hosted a dinner party at the cottage complete with linens! No expense or detail was spared on this bungalow. The only minor downside is that there are quiet hours outside after 9pm but it was understandable to us due to the close proximity to both the owners and neighbors' homes. Other than that, this is a blissful oasis that I recommend fully!

This tropical paradise is the BEST we've ever had the pleasure of calling home for a week. Starting with the private gated entrance. Once you open those doors, you leave reality behind. You walk into a beautiful, pristine, lush & colorful oasis. A full tiki bar with outdoor stereo systems playing the local KPOA radio station. The salt water beach-entry pool & rock waterfall are crystal clear & so amazingly inviting. The outdoor seating is where we had drinks & dinner every night after cooking dinner on the state of the art outdoor grill. Lounging on the patio furniture was so relaxing. Each lounger has it's own sun umbrella. There's even a lovely bathroom pool side so you don't have to drip your way through the cottage. At night we couldn't wait to get in the hot tub. You won't believe how bright the stars are! Ask Jim to light the firepit. He's happy to do it. Across the grass is a private outdoor shower. There's two indoors but you'll be drawn outdoors to the well thought out outdoor shower right next to a banana tree! There's also a FULL size washer and dryer. We chose to use the clothes line that gave our clothes that fresh Hawaiian air scent. There's several fruit trees. Hopefully you're there when the lemons are ripe. Yum! For the golfers, there's even a tee off platform with plenty of balls to brush up on your swing. Don't forget to buy one of Geno's custom made golf club birds! Really beautiful & unique souvenir. Now for the cottage... Carrie and Jim have thought of EVERYTHING! The decor is classy and the furniture is way comfy. Flat screen TV's, DVD player, iPod dock... you name it. The 2 bdrms are spacious each with their own bath. The matresses are REALLY comfortable. Plenty of closet space with plenty of hangers. If you plan on cooking/BBQ, go to the nearby store AFTER you've checked out the kitchen. All the spices and kitchen supplies/utensils/cookware are there. All you'll probably need to buy is meat & veggies. The appliances are all new and clean. The cottage does have central A/C but the ceiling fans in each room did the trick for us. The pictures are great and are true true true! You'll really have a sense of seclusion even though Carrie & Jim are only a few yards away with all the answers to your questions. I just gave you all the ins & outs of this amazing oasis, but I saved the best for last. Carrie, Jim, Jean & Geno are so warm and welcoming. We've made friends for life. Mahola to you all. My husband and I just left Auntie Kali's Cottage and we were devastated that we had to return home. From the moment we arrived, Carrie, Jim, Jean and Gene all made us feel like we were old friends. The grounds were immaculate. The cottage was spacious enough for two couples and Carrie has taken care of every detail. We had made several plans to go to the nearby beaches but with our own private resort in our backyard, why leave? Everyone offered ideas for restaurants, beaches, etc. but we didn't even want to leave to go to the store! My husband never took a shower inside our entire stay. He loved using the outdoor shower. Carrie and Jim have spared no expense in making this a place you never want to leave. Their taste in furnishings is exquisite. You truly don't need to take anything. They have everything taken care of for you from the toiletries, to pool and beach toys, to wonderful robes to use every day. The views of Upcountry to one side and Molokini and Lanai to the other were breathtaking! We were so enamored with the home and paradise, that we've already made arrangements to go back next year. Private, Romantic, Warm and Inviting. Carrie and Jim have thought if everything! This cottage does not even compare to a 4 Seasons or Club Med. It by far surpasses any resort or private rental. From the time of booking till the end, they made us feel important and special. Carrie even helped with booking some exciting things to do on the Island. While staying at the cottage it was so warming to see the thought that went into building and preparing a true serene place. Do yourself a favor and don't book to much on the Island, but spend your time at the cottage relaxing and enjoying all there is at the cottage. We HIGHLY recommend this property as it is more beautiful in person than in the photos. It's like having your own private paradise! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub each day as well as the outdoor grill. Even when it rained, we were able to be outside at the tiki bar and have fun with friends. The outdoor shower was great too and had plenty of hot water. Carrie and Jim really made us feel at home and provided excellent suggestions on what to visit and where to eat. Over the past 10 years, we've been staying in Maui condos, hotels, and this was our 3rd cottage rental in the same neighborhood, and we must say, it was the best experience yet! From the moment you walk through the cottage area's gate, you'll realize you are in a private tropical oasis. From the mature landscaping, to "sand" entry saltwater pool, you know it's going to be good, but it just gets better. The finish work in the cottage is beautiful and Aunt Kallie has made sure there is everything you need, from kitchen ware, bbq tools, bathrobes, even down to a nightlight in the bathrooms so you don't stub your toes if you're like me! :) The central air was wonderful to have (don’t always have this in Maui rentals but you DO need it come those hot afternoons when the winds stop), and ceiling fans in every room, including in the bathrooms which I really appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed spending time relaxing in the lounges at the pool with the umbrella shading us, listening to reggae on the outdoor stereo, and using the floaters in the pool with tropical drinks in hand. The courtyard was so awesome, we only went to the actual beach once during our 12 days. Yes, the ocean was nice but the privacy of the cottage was unmatched... sorry Ulua beach, you used to be our favorite but you've been replaced.
I have to say that one of our travel concerns is always the mattress. Will it be comfortable? Often it’s not. BUT here, the master bed was AMAZING! Firm, but with memory foam on top so that you sink down. We both slept like a log. Loved it so much, we are going mattress shopping now that we're home to buy the same one if we can find it!

This property was unbelievable. We stayed here on our honeymoon. The pictures are accurate. Like others have said, it's a private resort. You have your own personal pool, hot tub, grill, fire pit, outdoor/indoor dining, tiki bar, outdoor/indoor showers, and a mini driving range. We couldn't believe that was all ours. At nearby resorts (Four Seasons, Fairmont, etc) you pay so much more for so much less. The unobstructed view out back is beautiful. There's a ton of greenery and the ocean is not far off with views of Molokini. We felt spoiled.
Inside the cottage is gorgeous - really tastefully decorated. Looks like it should be featured on houzz or an interior design magazine. Jim and Carrie are super friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable at all times. Their 2 dogs were adorable. We left our gate open intentionally hoping they'd wander in (they do every now and then if you want them to). There was a welcome basket ready for us on arrival with fresh fruits, local coffee grind, and snacks. There were beautiful fresh flowers in the cottage along with complimentary champagne to celebrate our honeymoon. The bed was super comfy. We have no complaints at all! The kitchen was well equipped. They have travel guides and movies available. There's a shed behind the cottage with all sorts of beach equipment (coolers, boogie boards, beach chairs, etc).
Checkout is in the morning, but our flight back home was late night. There was no one checking in the day we checked out, so Carrie and Jim let us use the place till late. Thanks so much for your kindness and for an unforgettable honeymoon residence :) Love - Danielle & John

We have been traveling to Maui for over 10 years and this was by far the nicest place we have stayed. The cottage was immaculate and the attention to detail was second to none. The outdoor living space was just as amazing with tiki bar and the pool. All extremely private and quiet with a beautiful view of Molokini and Kahoolawe. I have recommended this place to all our friends and we will be back.

What a gorgeous place this is. Exceptionally clean and well cared-for, with beautiful decor. The very private yard has lush landscaping, plus a lovely view of the ocean, Molokini and a neighboring meadow. Oh, and the pool and hot tub and outdoor shower...perfection. This is a great place to stay for a family with one or two kids, or two couples. Carrie and Jim were friendly and attentive hosts, there if we needed them but we also had all the privacy we wanted. We will be sure to come back to Auntie Kali's Cottage!

Our family LOVED staying at this beautiful cottage. We had a great Thanksgiving dinner poolside-watching football at the fully stocked tiki bar. This cottage has everything you might need..boogie boards, cooler, beach chairs. The kids happily played in the pool and we watched the sunset from the hot tub. What a great location-close to restaurants like Monkeypod. We will definitely come back to Auntie Kali's cottage. It's a sweet place to stay! You won't be disappointed!!!! Home away from home!!!!
