Our group of 7 enjoyed our stay at this condo. It is backed up against the pool area which was very convenient. Pool area hours 8a-9p. Hot tub/spa for those ages 8 and older. Short walk to Holoholokai Beach Park for sunsets and walking along the beach.Per the Fairmont Villas property, only 1 parking spot allowed per condo (garage not available for use). Our group of 8 had rented 2 cars and we ended up getting warnings on our cars, despite only about 30% of parking spaces being occupied. Lock pad at front door would be a great upgrade to the unit instead of 1 key.We had communication problems with the condo owner, but it was a glitch on VRBO and not the owners fault.The hallway walls going upstairs could use a good scrub or paint job.Overall we found this VRBO to be a great value and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This is a wonderful place to stay! We were celebrating our 25th anniversary. The villa is sparkling clean! Lots of kitchen items, beach towels and a CLOSET FULL of beach items! Snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and even a cooler. There is a high chair and pack and play for babies. We utilized the beach club area in the resort and it was wonderful! Great place for kids and for snorkeling. This is located in the Gated community in the Mauna Lani resort. Short distance to a small grocery store and shopping. We enjoyed this Villa so much! The ONLY downside is that we couldn’t rent a golf cart due to not having access to the garage and a vehicle can’t park in the driveway overnight. We already had a rental car and couldn’t take up another parking spot. That was the neighborhood rule, not the owners. The swimming pool is directly behind the villa and listening to the waterfall of water into the hot tub was so relaxing! 10/10 recommend this villa. It is a great, quiet place to stay and will likely return!

This condo is in the perfect spot! It is beside the pool, on the gate side, such that we could let the kids use the pool and still watch them from our lanai. And because we needed the key to get both in and out of the pool area, we could just throw it over the fence to whoever needed it at the moment. The HOA folks are friendly and accommodating, and there is easy parking. The one downside is the gym room, which is very small, has to be booked in advance, and can only accommodate one person or family at a time.

Property was acceptable, however, the master bath toilet leaked. We reported it the furst day we were there and it wasn't fixed until wr had one day left. We were forced to use the half bath toilet. I would think some sort of refund should be in orderThe entry key set up was very inconvenient. A door combination pad would be much better

The Fairways at Mauna Lani is a lovely complex in a great location, and we stayed there in 2 other units previously. However, this property does not meet the standard set by the others. Guests are denied access to the garage, so there is no space for bikes or other sports gear. The property is in great need of maintenance and TLC. For example, the vertical blinds are broken or missing vanes, the horizontal blinds do not raise, the master bedroom patio door can be unlocked with just a jiggle, the unit smelled very stale (dishwasher issue?), the floors were dirty, the lanai table and counter were filthy. The on-island manager was unresponsive to our requests, though did eventually send someone to clean the toilets. Also, the propane ran out on the second night of grilling fish, and the second propane bottle was empty. There was only 1 key provided for the pool and complex entrance, where other units had at least 2; we found this very inconvenient. In summary, I cannot recommend this property.

The house was exceptionally clean had everything you could think of to cook with or need. It is located right next to a grocery store that has absolutely everything you could possibly need as well. The pool and hot tub is right off the porch! The private beaches are a extra bonus. We would stay here again!

Very nice and comfortable property, Perfect for a family. It is a very quiet and low key community. It was nice to enjoy some quiet time away from the larger resorts. The private beach area was wonderful and we never had an issue getting chairs. Jim’s condo is fully stocked with all the necessary kitchen and beach items.

Our family of 3 adults, 4 kids and a baby had a wonderful stay here! We thought the location was nice and central. It was only 30-40 min to Kailua and a little over an hour to Hilo. Hapuna and Mauna Kea beaches were just down the road. It is so close to the pool you can watch people play from the patio. Everything was just as described and Jim was very quick to answer all my questions. There was a pull out couch but our boys decided to use the really nice air mattress instead. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook many meals. There was even some spices and oils left from other guests that were nice to not have to purchase. There was an abundance of items to use for the beach—chairs, umbrellas, toys, snorkel stuff, and boogie boards. The house is in a very lovely quiet area. A small but well stocked grocery store is 5 min away. The Mauna Lani beach club was lovely and the water was nice and calm. The walk through the fishponds was beautiful. I would definitely stay here again with my family!

This was our third trip to the Big Island and third stay in Mauna Lani. The property was well appointed and had lots of great stuff for us to use at the beach to make things easier and more comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals and we loved being so close to the pool for nightly swims. One huge advantage of staying in Mauna Lani is access to the beach club, which we visited on three separate days during our stay. The snorkeling is fabulous and we love the protected cove. But it’s also close to some other great beaches. The owner left great instructions for us to get to the property and get in. Would definitely look to stay here again if we go back to Kona.

Finding a 3 bedroom within a reasonable budget is not an easy task in Hawaii and we are so lucky we found this place! Our group was two couples and our young children 6mo to 3 years and we couldn’t have been more happy with our stay. The bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms are spacious and the house was well stocked with beach gear, a cooler on wheels, washer/dryer, pack n play, and high chair! We did have to buy a few baby gates due to the stairs. The pool area is right in back of the patio and it features gorgeous waterfalls, a hot tub, a large pool AND connected shallow kids pool! The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors were so kind and sweet to us. Jim and his team made our stay easy, when we had questions or concerns they were quick to respond and help.
The Fairmont Orchid is also 1 min away by car or a 10 min walk - they have free valet parking during the day for easy access to the beach or a day at the spa.

We always look to stay in Mauna Lani on our Big Island trips and we may have found a new favorite condo and complex. Loved the pool- which is large and has a nice kiddie section as well as hot tub. The beach club really makes the vacation for us, because there's great snorkeling in a protected area for little ones. We enjoyed cooking in the well equipped kitchen. Beds, furniture, tv, linens were all comfortable and enhanced the stay.

Everything was even better than described. Jim has a lovely home and helped make our vacation wonderful. The home is perfectly located for all you will want to do. The cabinet of beach equipment and toys was perfect for all our needs. I highly recommend this home for your vacation. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Having the pool near was an added perk. This home is truly the best located in the neighborhood. We even enjoyed walking to the nearby shops daily for our morning coffee!

This facility is very beautiful and meticulously maintained and the villa feels like home immediately. The host has done an incredible job of making everything super simple and more than accommodating. We were able to visit the entire island on various day trips with zero difficulties and spent several days just hanging out at the local beach a short walk away. I can highly recommend this property and this host without reservation.

We had a fantastic time at this property. The location, which is not really made clear before you book, is right next to the pool! Which makes it one of the most desirable spots in the entire complex.
Arrival and check-in was made easy with the use of a keypad for the keys. The place was clean and welcoming. There are more snorkels, body boards, beach toys, etc. than one would expect to need for a trip. Everything is very well-appointed and perfectly set up. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is full of everything that one needs for their stay. We ended up cooking a lot during this trip, and that was mostly because we had everything there that we might need.
The owner was attentive and responsive to the questions that we asked, and was able to send someone to fix the few minor issues that we encountered.
We cannot say enough good things about this property and hope that it is available for our next trip!

Very spacious 3 bedrooms , 2 upstairs and the master downstairs with lanai overlooking the pool. The internet was great. The kitchen was well equipped and had plenty of leftover staples and spices. The garage is used by the owner but the closet is full of beach towels and snorkel gear. The keycard lets you get down to the parking for the beach club.

Jim’s home was absolutely amazing! My family and I stayed there for one week and we found Jim to be a very thoughtful host. The home was extremely well equipped and the convenience of the pool being directly beside the home, and the beach club being easily accessible provided a comfortable and relaxing vacation for us all! We did run into problems with the air conditioning but Jim was quick to arrange the repairs. He sent someone to check it out, and it was all fixed within a day. So I did something I never do. I made last minute decision to whisk my wife of 40 years away for our anniversary. I booked our flights first than searched for homes near Mauni Lani Resort. When I saw this listing I just knew it would be booked. It seemed perfect. When I put in my dates I was incredibly bummed that it was not open. After researching another 20 places I sent a note to Jim, the owner. It turned out that if I could grab a hotel the first night, I could book the next six. Communication with Jim was amazing, property instructions, were very simple for gate codes, door codes, pool use, Beach Club use, along with great tips on the perfect anniversary dinner. The Villa was so well stocked. Kitchen had everything for cooking, the outdoor kitchen area and grill was amazing, and the Beach toys, boogie boards, snorkels, beach umbrellas and chairs, wheeled cooler, fins and masks in nearly every size. Jim supplies giant beach towels for the guests. We practically lived at the beach during the day and pool at night. The best sunsets were six tenths of a mile away. The king bed was comfortable, It really was just perfect. If you read the reviews complaining about the AC, 74 or 75 degrees is downright freezing after being at the beach all day and we were happy to help keep rental rates down by popping it up while we were away from the day. While it is true there is some wear in the place, it was wear that said "home", not "neglect". Access to the owners Beach club allowed for daily resort style use, the beach was fantastic and the snorkeling was very good, we even saw a turtle swimming around. We will be coming back many times. We loved this rental - spacious, clean, well-furnished and appointed, had everything we needed and then some, including an awesome array of beach and pool toys (boogie boards, snorkel gear, etc.) Communication with the owner was seamless. The location of the unit near the pool was super convenient - we were a little worried it might be noisy but even with tons of people at the Fairways it never was. Mauna Lani is our favorite place to stay on the Island and having easy access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club is such a plus. Highly recommend!

This elegant home is nicely appointed and well stocked with kitchen equipment There are lots of beach chairs and water toys. Location is excellent because I was actually attending a training at Hapuna Beach, so this is the closest I've ever been able to stay. Grocery and shopping is nearby.

A pleasure to stay in this spacious townhouse adjacent to the pool and set within beautifully landscaped grounds. The Kohala location made it easy to take advantage of attractions in Kona town and Waimea. Jim provided excellent instructions for check-in, parking, etc as well as responding quickly to emails. This place did not live up to our expectations! The carpets were stained and filthy. Throw rugs used to hide the worst parts. Refrigerator light burnt out and missing interior freezer light. Thru-door ice maker didn't work. We were told not to use the sink disposal. Master bath shower had mold stains and showerhead didn't work well at all. Several bathroom light bulbs burnt out in down stairs bathroom. The lanai was right next to the pool so virtually no privacy and only a dining table and chairs, nothing to relax on and read a book. The nest thermostat kept making life difficult, it appeared to have a pre-set program by the owner and under his control. Temperatures we set would only stay for about two hours and then revert to 86 degrees. In the middle of the night it would re-set the temp to 86 and we would have go all the way upstairs to reset it. We were staying on the 1st floor, so it was a real pain! There was an issue with the billing fee with VRBO. Our dates of stay were changed due to the pool being closed during part of our original reservation. VRBO would not credit their portion of the fee for cancelled days. VRBO told me the owner had to cancel the reservation and the owner told me I had to cancel the reservation. Neither VRBO or the owner would budge so I didn't do either because I didn't trust either one of them. All that said, I do believe this could be a pretty nice place to stay if the owner would spring for a little TLC and some investments in flooring, garbage disposal and refrigerator.
