Hanalei Colony Resort F3 - These unique Hanalei vacation rentals are north shore Kauai's only true beachfront resort, recently voted one of Travel + Leisure's top 20 favorite resorts! This lovely upstairs corner condo has been updated inside and includes a large shady lanai with oceanfront view, all about 30 seconds from the sand. There is one bedroom, furnished with a king bed. For privacy, it can be closed off from the rest of the unit with sliding shoji screens which still allow air flow to keep you cool at night. A second bedroom is furnished with two twin beds, giving you the option to sleep two additional people You can use the room as a living area or office space if it's a working vacation for two. It also has sliding shoji screens for visual privacy. Note that sound will still carry, so if you're streaming a late-night movie, be sure to keep the volume low. The living and dining areas are comfortably furnished and there are dramatic ocean views from each of the large picture windows. You won't mind cooking in the cozy full kitchen which includes everything you need for simple meal preparation. While there are no televisions in the apartments, wifi is provided so you won't be completely cut off from the modern world. (Only as cut off as you wish to be.) Guests at F3 will be able to take advantage of their own secure ultra high speed internet connection thru Spectrum cable.

In order to take full advantage of the Hawaiian trade winds, this unit faces directly oceanfront and offers unobstructed panoramic sea views. When the trade winds die down, multiple high-speed fans provide plenty of breeze as well. While wonderfully furnished and right next to the beach, please know that the development was built in simpler times. The units are smaller and have kitchens to match. Some normal amenities will be absent given the space and purposeful attempt to honor the simplicity of earlier times: you won’t find a dishwasher or washing machine in any of the units (there is a laundry room on the premises), and most units have no televisions (though wifi is available for those of us who can't escape work or want to stream our favorite shows).

As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned.

This is an upstairs condo so you need to be able to go up and down stairs. There are no elevators.

Although this home has internet, the speed and reliability cannot be guaranteed due to the remote location and the service being provided by a third-party.

We loved the rustic, peaceful vibe of the colony after spending a few days each in Waikiki and Kapa'a. The property is as advertised, not new and shiny, no AC or TV... everything we wanted and needed. Open air, literally steps from the water on the second floor, cooling breeze, falling asleep listening to the waves. Check in info all received ahead of time. Best unit location!! The onsite laundry is by the pool where there is also a lovely large shaded seating area with two mega grill set ups including mini fridges for dining. Great set up once you find it, lol, dont just look at the little bridge, go Over it and to the right. Laundry coins available for purchase at the office. Everyone we encountered there were friendly. Tunnels beach is just down the way a bit with breath taking views and great snorkeling (in the summer). Go EARLY for parking! If you are going to Kauai, do not miss the north - get at least to Hanalei to see the real beauty! The roads are narrow, pace is refreshingly not hectic, MaiTai's at Tahiti Nui are omg, Holey Grail donuts are very good, The Terrace (upstairs) fabulous for dinner. NaPail Catamaran coast tour - exceptional!! NaPali coast speechless! Loved our time at Hanalei Colony.

This was a hard place to leave! The proximity to the ocean was amazing. Easy check in. Great communication. Clean and comfortable property. So easy to sleep with the ocean breeze and waves lulling us to sleep. Great access to the areas hiking and beaches. Absolutely beautiful! Thank you!

There's no better place on Kauai. Beach front- quiet- bike to tunnels and snorkel... the best. For the price especially during the holiday this is the place to stay. We sleep each night to the sound of the ocean and woke up to beautiful sunrises. Highly recommend.

The pictures match the reality -- we sat outside with wine and were watching waves fairly close to the unit.:-) It can be a minimal beach on high tide and the tide comes up to the resort rock boundary. For folks looking for a condo on a beach in the Hanalei area, this unit is a great home base. A small but functional kitchen and although no dishwasher, the starter cleaning supplies -- sponge, brushes, Dawn, made it simple to keep up with the disk washing. A comfortable bed and falling asleep to the waves... Ahhh, wish I was back there again. :-) The WIFI worked great and was specific to this unit. The door lock keycodes were nice as we didn't have to worry about losing a key in the sand or anything. With prior arrangements, the Haena state park shuttle will pick up ticket holders at the resort which was very nice. And we found the restaurant, OPAKAPAKA, next door to the resort, delicious. They can make togo food, then take it to the condo and eat outside overlooking the waves. We had a very relaxing time. :-)

Everything was in working order with exception of one toilet running and not flusing right and one of the back small windows with wooden louvers, did not open and close completely (maybe warped from moisture?) Most likely will be returning. Would love to get ground level unit in Bld A but could not find information on it on web. Second floor was nice, but difficult to drag suitcases up. Although it was fine for my husband and I, we are not sure family with kids or even adults who are "sun worshipers" would be satisfied with the limited access to a swimming beach. It was great to listen to wave and feel breeze but we are much older...not interested in frolicking in the ocean.

For our taste this is the place. If you want to sleep on the 10th floor and sit around a crowded pool this is not for you. Yes, the unit could use some updating but for location and atmosphere Hanalei Colony can't be beat. WE WILL BE BACK!

Constant sounds of the ocean waves crashing on the beach, morning views of the sun rising over Princeville, this is a great spot. Great for a couple but would also work if you have one or two small children as there are two twin beds in the side room. There are also two full bathrooms which is quite nice as well! There is a restaurant on site with a great owner and staff. You'll want to stop in there and have a drink with the locals; they're all great folks. We'll be back to book this place again within the year.

First of, the location and grounds are beautiful. It is ocean front so you can’t beat that and the pool area is wonderful for the kids and kept very clean and beautifully groomed. The online description was not kidding about the trade winds though. The entire time we were there the gusts were 15-30 mph so we we not able to enjoy the lanai or the beach front and had to drive over to hanalei beach to escape the wind. So keep this in mind if you have kids. Also while the vrbo property alludes to it, I’m not sure it’s made clear the property does not have air conditioning. Even with the winds the apartment stays a bit too warm and we had to keep both the front door and back open all night to get ventilation. Lastly the place could have used a bit more sprucing up. All the sheets, pillows and towels seemed very used and musty and need replacing for comfort. While we enjoyed our stays there we’re definitely things that could have made the stay more comfortable.

First off, great location!!! Peaceful, and the ocean will lull you right to sleep. Great having meals on the lanai, and walking the beach. Tunnels beach is close for great snorkeling. Hiking the Kalalau trail is close. North shore Kauai magic, and I didn't hear a single rooster. But, when we first walked in there was an overwhelming must smell. We opened all the windows and it cleared out mostly, except if your nose was anywhere near the carpet. My allergies were going crazy, and I was in a Benadryl stupor if I had to spend anything over a hour inside the unit, which was unavoidable as a couple days were very rainy. Which leads to another thing I didn't realize - No TV. You don't really need one, unless you're stuck inside from the rain and are tired of reading. All and all, 3 stars - some great, some not so great. If you don't have allergies, and love reading, this is the worlds best spot.

it's a down to earth type place away from the big hotel feel. It was quiet except for a little construction next door. Love the view. Having the restaurant on site was a bonus. The Ke'e shuttle picks up and drops off in the parking lot if you pre arrange it. So convenient. Would definitely come back.

There were 4 of us and we were comfortable with the two rooms and bath facilities. It turned out that the downstairs condo was in the midst of being remodeled which meant some major noise on weekdays when we were there, but when I shared this we were fairly compensated which was kind and fair. We would definitely book this again. The location just can’t be beat. The beauty from the lanai is indescribable.

Location was perfect and the surf had constant sound so that was nice sleeping with windows open. The place was squeaky clean and the pics are accurate, with only exceptions of the patio set having chairs that were different heights, and the windows facing the ocean were not clean. But there was a window washer pole in the kitchen which did a decent job cleaning them. We had 1 minor issue that was corrected quickly by management. We never reported a tiny wire sticking out of the inside doorknob in the small bathroom, but my thumb got pricked a few times, so I am reporting that minor issue here. These structures are older, and 2 of 4 units were undergoing renovation, which turned out to be an overall positive, as we enjoyed the balcony with only 1 other unit on their balcony. The pool and hottub were well maintained, and sleeping at nights was really peaceful and quiet (aside from the wonderful surf). If we visit the northside again, we will certainly hope this same unit is available.

I noted on my form that there were several minor and one major issue:1. the left lenai screen door wasn't the same as the right and one night in the wind it fell off it's track2. WiFi password couldn't be found. Even on the website when I went there.3. The combination lock at the entrance will open after a couple failed attempts!4. Some of the lanai door screens have holes in them. Sadly, we had to leave them closed at night because of various biting bugs that came by.5. Light at the top of the stairs outside going to F3 was out. Hazerdous at night.6. However, the worst was when the battery low indicator in the smoke alarm went off continously at 2:30 AM!! I had noted it unexpectedly went off during dinner one night: too sensitive or beginnning to fail?7. i called the after hours number and no response.8. Earlier during the week I had called the rental office on friday about the Wifi, but learned it was not available through the holiday.I'd come back though!P.S. Please stock a 9 V battery somewhere, with an indication of where it was. Also, post the WiFi psw if not on the top of the router, then underneath it.

I had a lovely stay at this condo. The ocean views are so beautiful and I loved going to bed to the sounds of the waves. The bed was comfy and the kitchen seemed stocked. There is a closet full of stuff that you can take to the beach. The beach umbrella and chairs and not very sturdy, so if you want a legit beach set up for the day I would recommend you pick some better ones up closer to the airport or rent. This is definitely not a resort experience, so set that expectation before coming, but being right in the beach was great. There is no AC, but this was fine at the end of October. The bathrooms and kitchen are outdated, but not terrible. Property management responded quickly to issues. This is north of where most of the restaurants are, but it’s not a bad drive. Make sure the get reservations for Ke’e beach! It was magical!

This property is situated right on the beachfront. Upon arrival there were approx. 100 flies in two windows. Called the management company and they said they would mention it to housekeeping. I went to the store and purchased insect killer to resolve the issue. No cutting boards. Slid out cutting board in kitchen was filthy. Screen doors on deck do not latch and would blow open in the wind. Front door screen doesn’t latch as well. I had to call to get the internet network and password. Pool area and BBQs were really nice. Take the short drive to the beach parks. The beach in front of the unit can be hazardous. In general, this property needs a remodel.

This condo is perched right above the sand of one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The condo has a great main bed, plus two twin beds (our adult son was a little over-sized, but he had plenty of time to relax). It was such a cozy little condo. At first, it seemed a little old, but we quickly realized it's very clean and well-stocked. It's not a modern condo, and the Hyatt's decor was higher end, but this place is worth every penny (and we went high season). The whole resort is very quiet and peaceful, even though I believe it was pretty full occupancy. Everyone is very considerate (well, almost everyone--the loud small children below weren't the best) and happy to be there. The pool area was redone and it's really nice. We used one the two huge gas grills to bbq a bunch of chicken and used it for several meals. We used the new washer and dryer because we packed so light. We were there in June, and one night the wind was completely still and it got very warm. There are many exceptional fans in the unit, and all the other nights there was an amazing breeze, but I'm used to a/c. Still, I was surprised that I didn't mind not having the a/c. Every window is tightly screened, not a bug inside at all. Literally my only regret is that I'm not there now!

Property was clean and functional. The beach towels and snorkel gear in one closet were so useful to have available for snorkeling at Tunnels Beach. The location is close to the restaurants at Hanalei and close to multiple beaches.. The sounds of the ocean and view from our deck was magical.

THE perfect place to stay on the north shore. You have the best view with this unit, right on the beach. The shuttle to Haena State Park will pick you up and drop you in the parking lot and Hanalei is a short drive down the road. You can walk to Tunnels beach. It’s perfect.

This was just as I had hoped. A place right on the beach that would be quiet and picturesque. The road closures, etc. added some complications, but all manageable. You couldn't pick a better location and place for a North Kauai stay. If it had laundry service and AC, then it would be a must stay place over and over again. Loved hearing the crashing ocean waves all night long, and over night things did cool down, but... was definitely a humid experience during our 4 days (locals say worse than usual).

It’s a bit rocky directly in front but a few minutes walk to either the left or right side will take you to nice sandy patches.On-site restaurant - HCR is a 15-20 minute drive from the town center which has all the shops and restaurants. It was really nice to have this option when we didn’t want to cook or drive.There’s a well equipped community grill on premises which we loved usingCons-The unit hasn’t been maintained at all - bathrooms & kitchen are old & could really use upgrading. The furniture is old and almost breaking apart. Beds are very uncomfortable and need new mattresses. The property management company (Kauai Kahuna Vacation Rentals) isn’t responsive - one of the toilets broke when we were staying there and never got fixed during our stay.Not well stocked at all - no extra trash bags in the kitchen. Knives and peelers are all blunt. No dishwasher (which is ok) but a basic dish rack is needed so clean dishes don’t leave the counter all cluttered and wet. A single tiny bar of soap in each bathroom with no hand soap (surprising in covid times)The property doesn’t have an on-site laundry as it’s being renovated and the closest laundromat is an hour away as per the HCR reception. Have to mention though, we met an extremely nice lady at the front desk who offered to take our clothes, wash them at home and bring them back the next day! It was a life saver as we were traveling light with 2 kids who were getting into the water every single day
