We stayed at Surf Song for 1 week in July 2023. 7 adults and 3 kids age 14,11, and 6. Code we were given to enter front door didn’t work- we had to call and leave msg for property manager. They called back about 25 min later and gave us a new code. While we were waiting for the code one of us walked around to the back of the property and found the back slider was unlocked- upon further inspection it does not have a functioning lock so it remained unlocked during our stay. Door handle of door to outside shower was broken and we requested it be fixed. They sent a repair person on our second day. Well stocked with beach towels, toilet paper, kitchen utensils/appliances. We requested directions to beach from property management but they never responded despite multiple requests. We finally found online- Sea Lodge Beach via Sea Lodge condos trailhead. The view was unbelievable, and we spent much of our time outside. Bedroom ACs were a must for July, very nice to have. One washing machine is finicky but one of us had the magic touch to get it started each time.

Walk in and be prepared to be awestruck by the million dollar view. With just a hint of the neighbor to the left, it is essentially a private outdoor space. With the living room doors completely open it becomes a vast indoor outdoor environment. (You do need to use the screens for flying insects.) The master to the right has the better bathroom but the one to the left has the outside bath. The en suite bathrooms were great for each family. The kitchen met all needs and Foodland was conveniently nearby. A prior review talked about updating the furniture and this had apparently been done by our visit. However the hammock pictured was only the frame and we were advised there was no hammock. We were provided with a YouTube video on how to get to the bay below. Ask for it and watch it to determine if the hike is worth your effort. We did private massages on the deck which was a perfect location. Yoga is great out there too. The hot tub was large and relaxing day and night. We were here for a wedding and if everyone has a car, parking can get tight. There is no on street parking in the community. The living room gets a bit dark at night as there is no overhead lighting so evening activities gravitated to the large dining room table. We were happy with our choice of stay and its contribution to our wedding memories.

This is a beautiful home with an unbelievable view. The house has every amenity you want for a beach vacation. It is very well maintained and the outdoor space, including spa, large dining table, chairs and chaise lounges, are terrific. The best compliment I can offer is that we would definitely stay here again.

Pros. Spectacular views, spacious home for a family of 8…on the deck and inside as well. Great location, very comfortable furniture and bedding. Perfect for family dinners inside and out. Ample parking for multiple cars.
Cons… realizing inflation and demand pushed up rental prices, this was an expensive trip for our family.
So we expected a bit more. We cook a lot…. So we were impacted by issues that could be easily remedied:
New dishwasher: It’s very fussy and dated.
New washer dryers: same… and one set seemed inoperable.
Ice maker: perhaps the last guest was a big user of ice… but the ice maker couldn’t make ice for several days.
Sprinkler system: ran all the time for hours
BBQ. Starter didn’t work…needed a flame, and the one provided was used up. Grill is so old, I had to take grills off to get the flame to catch. It’s on a timer as well… which makes sense for a rental ..
To be sure, for a family who ate out frequently, these would not be big issues.
Would we come back yes…
But for this price it be proper to service this lovely home a bit more often.

This beautiful home was perfect for our party of 8, our 3 adult children and their spouses. Although we enjoyed the vast majority of time together on the gorgeous patio, there was plenty of lovely indoor space to lounge in as well. A/C in the bedrooms was a nice touch although we seldom needed it. The ocean breezes (and sounds of pounding surf) are heavenly. The home is perfectly situated near Hanalei and the town of Princeville, so easy access to so much! All in all, a perfect vacation!

What a beautiful location and house to spend time in! The beauty of the ocean, the sunrises and sunsets are amazing from this over the top wonderful home. You have to believe all the things people have written about this home and then think ,”self, add 100% more!”
While staying here,don’t miss bathing under the stars or showering in the afternoon sun in the beautiful outdoor bathroom! Or, walking out of another master bedroom on to your lanai hammock to just lie there and watch the clouds pass by.
From the endless supply of seasonings in the kitchen to the bicycles, water shoes, boogie boards and surf boards…this house just kept giving!

The pictures don't do this property justice. The lanai is completely private with panoramic views of the ocean accompanied by the sound of waves crashing below. The rooms are well-equipped and comfortable. We cooked many meals here and found the cooking supplies suited our needs. I would come back in a heartbeat!

The deck and view were amazing. House was well stocked- kitchen and bath basics, more than listing let on, which was helpful. 10 minute walk (ask the locals for the path) to beach right below the house. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Communication with management was a bit slow. I asked about a fan that wasn't working after two days of being in the house and they wrote back about check in time. Fan never got fixed and we were there 8 days. Bedrooms do have A/C, which was also nice and plenty of doors and windows to open. Overall, great place and would come back.

The house was very clean and exactly as described! Very comfortable for 8 adults & well equipped with beach gear and bikes! Princeville and north shore activities just a few minutes away by car. Sea Lodge beach below, with a small waterfall off to the right of the beach path was a pleasant discovery. Enjoyed spotting whales in the late afternoon! The View is amazing!

Three generations gathered from all over to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. We loved the house and spent much of our time on the wonderful deck, where we also ate all our meals. We enjoyed nearby Sea Lodge beach (saw monk seals and turtles) and we saw whales from the deck every day. All in all a perfect, relaxing family vacation.

We booked this home in the middle of last year and couldn’t wait to get there. We did see a really bad negative review posted a few days before our arrival which had us a little nervous but it was far from the truth. The location was absolutely perfect and the house was great for our group. We had close family friends and us (4 adults and 4 kids) and the house was laid out perfectly for that set up.
We didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but everything in the house worked like it should. I only wish we would have booked a longer stay as none of us wanted to leave.

We stayed here with two families. 4 adults and 6 kids. It worked fine for us. There’s not a ton of room for luggage, but we managed just fine. The views from the deck of this house were absolutely breathtaking. We also loved the seclusion that you feel at this home. We had a problem with the water heater and the property management fixed it quickly. We especially appreciated all the chairs, beach toys, body boards, and the toys from the garage. It made beach time that much better. We absolutely loved staying at this house and would definitely stay there again!

We stayed at Surf Song for the week following NYE. We picked it because it appeared well appointed, maintained and suitable for a family. Sadly, there were significant shortcomings. Our first indication at the lack of care was in one of the north bathrooms, where the pump bottle of hand soap had been so significantly diluted with water that it ricocheted all over the bathroom. That is both unacceptably cheap (especially for a "luxury Kauai vacation rental", as advertised on the website), but foolhardy in these Pandemic times. The hot water supply to the two north end bathrooms was also very problematic. No one could have hot water for more than 4 minutes. It was impossible to fill the outdoor tub with hot water. When we called to report this issue, we were told it was due to solar heating on a rainy day. What we discovered was a timed cut off for the hot water, requiring a 10 minute wait for another 4 minutes of hot water. This is obviously not tenable for a 4-bedroom property advertised for 10 guests. Worse still, the on-demand water heater in the garage frequently faulted out, worsening the hot water issue. In the master bath, the mirror has fallen off its wire and is precariously perched on the vanity blocking full use of the bathroom taps. To accommodate this, the sink plugs were removed entirely, meaning we could not fully use the sinks and had to take care to ensure nothing went down the exposed drains. The hot tub (which is the banner picture on Surf Song's advertisement) was unusable both because of technical faults and the smelly debris filled water in it. This, along with the hot water issue was reported on our first full day. It was repaired 6 days later. As compensation, we were promised a partial refund, in writing, which we have yet to receive. The very worn fabric furnishings, particularly the ottomans in the great room, were grungy from so much use. A small cabinet in in one bedroom had a wedged door that, once opened, was unable to be closed and clearly not for the first time. Kitchen appliances were extremely worn or broken (the coffee grinder). All in all, it is clear to us there was a definite lack of care as to the maintenance of this property. It is a lovely, well located house. The management company, Princeville Vacation Rentals by Kauai Real Estate Group cuts too many corners for it to be worth your time and money. Makes me sad.

My wife and I just finished taking our 10-member family to Kauai, and we stayed with three of our grandchildren in this house, while the other five stayed in a neighboring property. The house was more than comfortable for the five of us, and could easily have handled two or three more, with no difficulty.
And the views and sounds of the Ocean crashing onto the shore right beneath you are truly awe-inspiring!
The house is well-appointed, and the Property Manager was very responsive to anything we needed, making for an even more perfect vacation.
I would definitely recommend this house for a family of up to 8 people. Especially if the Princeville location is preferred (and it should be).

The house was fantastic. There is a large communal space, and a huge deck with a hot tub, table, chez lounges, and a hot tub. It easily slept eight adults and two teens. The bunk beds would sleep average size adults too. All of the beds were exceptionally comfortable. pretty much everything you need is here. We hated to leave. There are tons of toys in the garage and two, each, washer and driers. The driveway is somewhat small, two cars are a pinch. The beach below is not easy to get to and not great for swimming but is very secluded and a beautiful beach for exploring and sunbathing.

While Kauai is always a great place to visit as there are so many outdoor things to do , this home made this vacation one of our best.

As soon as I came home, I started looking at the availabilities to see when I could come back to this lovely home again. Everything you might think of, to enjoy on your getaway, they've thought of. Snorkeling gear, water shoes? Got em. An electric mixer to make pancakes one morning? Yep. Oh, candles would be wonderful! Found them, citronellas, on the deck. Such comfortable rooms and linens, such fluffy towels. So many towels! Everything was great. Can this be where I stay, every time I come to Kauai?

This space is so roomy and the deck is huge. There were 8 of us. We spent much of our time on the deck overlooking the ocean and ate our meals at the large table out there. Great, well-supplied kitchen. The outdoor shower off of one of the bedrooms was so refreshing with a beautiful view. Two of the bikes were in working order. It was hard to leave this peaceful place.

We recently spent 9 days here with our 3 children and our friends who have 2 kids as well. The layout of the home is perfect for 2 families as there is 2 master suites (one on each side of the home with 1 additional bedroom on each side of too). Each family had their own wing! The main living space is breathtaking. Large doors open wide to bring a true open air experience to the home. Being perched high on cliff, the breeze and views were endless. I think the high ceilings make the home feel so much more open too. There is a beach below the property that we hiked down to every other day. Because of the remote hike it has the feel of a private secret beach. We loved it. The Hanalei/Princeville area of Kauai is our favorite Hawaiian destination. This home is a great spot to enjoy this side of the island. There’s a grocery very close with lots of other amenities near by. Amazing beaches/restaurants/golf/walking paths/and views for a lifetime everywhere. Great vacation. Didn’t have any issues to complain about. When we 1st arrived I had to contact the property company about servicing the hot tub. The next morning there was a pool service at the house who took care of it. Book it, you’ll love it too!

This North Kauai Villa is in a great location in Princeville, in a lush residential enclave, close to shopping and restaurants. Our party of nine, 4 couples and one child, thoroughly enjoyed their stay, particularly soaking in the stunning views from the large deck overlooking the Pacific. The house was very well-equipped with bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, beach chairs, and even some snorkel gear, which came in handy. The kitchen is rather small, but functional. There’s limited cupboard space, which means the small amount of glassware gets used up every day. The bedrooms all opened onto either the ocean, or a garden, which was a real plus. Still, they were all rather cramped. The bathrooms were all well-equipped with luxe soaps and shampoos, and lush towels. The villa was near Sea Lodge Beach, which we could see from the deck. Getting there was baffling to us, and to strangers who dropped by thinking the path was near our house. Finally, a couple of the kids figured it out (not easy) and were able to spend time down there. Someone should leave instructions on how to get to the beach.
There was one overriding concern we had with the villa, and it comes down to personal choice. While the house is advertised as suitable for 8 people, we felt it was a bit cramped, as everyone hung out in the great room, or the deck. There was little space to get away from each other. So, we think this villa is a better spot for 4 people, not 9. Again, this is just a personal observation.
