The house was exactly as the listing described.
Very clean, well appointed and in a nice location above the Mauna Kea Resort.
Views were not great just because of the way the house is positioned but if a view isn’t a priority, it’s a perfect home.
We rented an electric cart from Kohala Beach Buggies which was a great solution to hop down to the beach- it is about a 10 minute drive.
Residential Guest Membership is key. We utilized both the MK and Hapuna pools, beaches, restaurants and gyms. Parking and valet are free with the membership.
Everything in the home was in perfect working order and the support team was responsive for the few questions that we had.

I can’t emphasize how perfect this house is for a relaxing Hawaii vacation. We had two kids who spent all day playing in the pool, my mom who enjoyed the junior master suite, and of course my wife and myself who loved being able to keep an eye on the kids while relaxing to beautiful views and quiet solitude. The accommodations are luxurious. Everything you need and more is already in the house. Quick drive to beaches, stores, and other sites. Property manager was very responsive - we had an issue with the spa heater and the repair technician was onsite within minutes. amazing. This is THE place you’re looking for - I promise.

Our family of 5 spent the Thanksgiving Week in this wonderful unit! It was well equipped, extremely clean and the host was easy to communicate with. It has a great location and very well appointed. Being Lik fans and owning some
Collections we appreciated the tasteful artwork. Came with all the necessary Beach gear but if you get access to MK and Hapuna it really isn’t needed. While an extra cost for the access I highly recommend adding it. Two of the best beaches on the islands! Mahalo!

Our two daughters with their husbands and two 4-year-olds stayed at the villa while my husband and myself along with my son, wife and two teenagers stayed at the Mauna Kea. It was perfect for the little ones to be able to nap and play and swim in between our different activities. This does not work so well in hotel rooms.
The villa is beautiful! My daughters specifically mentioned that it was so well-organized and had everything you could need.They loved all the space; it is spacious and welcoming with walls of windows that completely slide open so your patio and indoor space feels like one; beautiful flow. The kitchen was well-equipped; beds comfortable with very nice large bathrooms and closets. The pool and spa are such nice additions!
After our 50th wedding anniversary dinner our family met at the villa for dessert, gifts and a video that was made by our granddaughter - a class project where she interviewed us on what makes a lasting marriage, communication and how we changed and grew through the years. Did not know that was going to happen and everyone enjoyed watching the video including the humorous moments. The large living space and TV was a perfect "theater" for this.
I want to thank Donna for her immediate communication with answers to questions, billing and other info. I had not rented a vbro before and she made it easy. So friendly also; Donna sent a welcome email on the day we arrived!
I have already told many about your place. I found out about it through friends who did this similar thing last summer for their 50th, and rented this same villa. Was so nice to have their personal recommendation.

This was the most well equipped home we have ever stayed in. We are used to bringing/buying kleenex, toilet paper, dish soap, etc. All of that was there including large bars of soap in each bathroom, spare batteries for remotes, laundry detergent, dish detergent, beach towels, beach toys, beach chairs, coolers, bug spay, even a copy of the the Hawaii "blue book." Everything in the home is in excellent condition. I do hope future renters continue to take care of everything there so it is available for travelers years from now. Donna was the perfect host. She was responsive to all of our messages before the trip and let us know while we were there that she would not be available for a day and provided an alternate contact. We had no reason to contact her during our stay, but I know she would have been super responsive if we had needed something. We had a group of 7 and had more than enough space (my parents in one room, me and my husband in one, and our 3 kids sharing the third room) Both master suites are amazing with outdoor showers and a king bed. The third bedroom has 2 queen beds and room on the floor if someone doesn't want to share a bed. We did not pay for pool heat and the pool was warm enough in the afternoon/evening for a nice swim. The pool is not large, so don't expect to swim laps as a workout. We also did not pay for resort access. There are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby. It is about 15 minutes to the nearest store and restaurants. It is about 3 miles from the ocean so you won't hear the waves, but you can see it. The property is a duplex, which was not a surprise to us since I had seen that mentioned in other reviews. We never heard our neighbors, perhaps the other side of the duplex was not occupied during our stay. We would definitely stay here again if our travels take us back to the big island. If you are on the fence for renting this property, do it! You won't regret it

This is a wonderful property - great location, beautiful house, exceptional management. I would rent this property again without hesitation and highly recommend. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens). Everything you need is supplied and the house is exceptionally clean and well maintained. This was to be a family vacation with three generations, unfortunately our son, daughter-in-law, 11 year old grandson contracted COVID from their England trip a week before we were leaving. We had not seen them, so we decided to go without them. Just the two of us in a 3 bedroom home, but it was not the end of the world! I have stayed in many VRBO’s, but this surpasses all. The kitchen was better outfitted than mine. The bed was so comfortable and all linens were luxury brand. Lots of beach toys, snorkeling items in the garage. If you are lucky enough to book this gorgeous home, you will not be disappointed. The manager Donna was so easy to work with and responded to all my questions. Mahalo and enjoy this piece of paradise.

This house is very nice. Well appointed, comfortable, etc. On the less favorable side, we could not see the sunset from the backyard, it's 45 minutes to most of the restaurants (main town) and I had to pay extra if I wanted to heat the pool/spa. We enjoyed our stay very much, but might have shopped a little more if I had know the less favorable facts. Aloha!

We stayed at the Villa with 2 families, including 2 tweens who shared a room. The home was a perfect setup for the five of us. Both primary bedrooms have en suites and outdoor showers. The bedroom with 2 queens also has an en suite, and there is a guest restroom as well. The lanai seating, pool and hot tub were all very comfortable and enjoyable. The interior kitchen/living/dining room was very comfortable for our group. The kitchen is well equipped and has nice appliances and equipment. We had everything we needed to cook for 5 people.
Communication with Donna Brucato and her team were great.
We paid extra for access to the Mauna Kea Resort and really enjoyed being able to go back and forth between the Mauna Kea Beach, lawn and restaurants, the Hapuna Westin beach and restaurants, and the comfort of our own home.
The house includes boogie boards and beach gear, as well as beach/pool towels. The complex also includes a gym and larger pool a short walk from the villa.
The Villa is technically a duplex but largely felt very private and separate from other houses. We frequently forgot that we were so close to other houses. We did occasionally hear neighbors when they were at their pool or patio, but this was not bothersome.
We would definitely recommend the house and would stay again.

This beautiful villa in Wai'ula'ula has everything you could ever want in a vacation getaway! The location is so convenient to beaches and resorts while staying quiet and peaceful when you want to be alone. The privacy of the pool and hot tub is a great plus!. Kitchen is well equipped and all furniture fresh and attractive. Manager Donna responded immediately to one small issue during our stay. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I brought our 10 year old here and we were joined by a family friend. The bedroom arrangement was perfect for this, and everyone had plenty of space with their own bathroom.
The kitchen has everything you could need and shelves are all labeled to eliminate the guesswork as to where to put stuff back. Very refreshing compared to some of the vacation homes I’ve stayed at, where every tenant shuffles the kitchen up a bit.
The lanai was such a wonderful place to chill and enjoy our evenings under the stars.
The photos are 100% accurate as to what you’ll find when you come to this beautiful home.
Having resort access was the cherry on top and really made this place the best of both worlds — enjoy more space in a home but still have all the amenities of a resort hotel (or two, really!).

The villa was exactly the way the pictures looked, top of the line and beautifully decorated. With 2 teenage boys it was wonderful having the space for everyone to spread out. The kitchen is the nicest and most well stocked I have seen in a rental but the lanai is truly the best feature. Perfectly Hawaiian. And being within the resort grounds with the ability to access those beaches and facilities was a huge bonus. We loved the beach at the Westin and ended up going there almost every day.

We have been coming to the Kohala Coast for 30 years. This was our favorite property! Not only was the house beautiful but it was fully stocked with everything you could want to play on the beach including a great beach bag. We stayed with another couple and each felt we had the best room in the house!

Donna was wonderful, and the house was perfect! This house is appointed with everything you could need. The kitchen let us enjoy all the meals we WANTED to cook and the pool/spa were perfect to enjoy after sightseeing! We had 3 “parties” and the bedrooms with ensuite allowed for privacy while the great room and patio provided the perfect “hang-out”.

Pictures portray this villa very well. Great spaces, suites and living, dining, indoor/out door experience. Spa was good, more powerful jets for aqua massage would be better. Pool was refreshing. BBQ set up was perfect.

This is a dream property. Donna (property manager) is incredible. She is quick to respond to questions, the check-in was a breeze and the property is incredible. Having the giant lanai and small pool made this property. The rooms are huge. The property is clean. There are many amenities. Everything came with labels and instructions. This is the best equipped vacation rental I have ever stayed in with everything from beach toys and lanai dishes that were perfect for kids to scotch tape and puzzles. We stayed with our two toddlers and their grandparents and had an absolutely fabulous week enjoying one of the most beautiful beaches in the world at the Mauna Kea Resort. It was definitely a great deal to pay for the resort access for the group. It was so nice to combine the perks of a resort with the benefit of a house with a kitchen and space to spread out. True luxury to be able to lounge by the pool while toddlers nap in the next room! We would love to stay here again and would give our highest recommendation for this property.

This villa exceeded expectations in every way. The rooms were huge, it was fully stocked with spices and supplies in the kitchen and had plenty of space for our whole family to relax and unwind. We were traveling with small kids (1&3 yo) and the unit had a pack and play, high chair and beach and pool toys for them. The property manager was so quick to reply to my inquiries too.
The beach at Mauna Kea was very close, a 5 minute drive max, and offered free parking. This is also where you can see the manta rays. We would recommend this spot to anyone.

My husband and I just enjoyed a memory making stay at this exceptional property with our two sons and their families. This home, located within the gated community of Wai Ula Ula on the Hapuna Property overlooking Mauna Kea lived up to all of our expectations. The floor plan allowed each family unit a bit of privacy within their en suite bedroom area while the expansive great room layout of the kitchen/dining/living area was perfectly furnished to provide the perfect gathering spot for family togetherness. The covered outdoor area was an oasis of relaxation from which to enjoy the tropical paradise of ones surroundings.
The home was immaculately cleaned and well stocked with the basics. Donna was very responsive to any and all inquiries. She went above and beyond by purchasing a Crock Pot for us when I asked if there was one on property.
We will definitely stay here again if available when we return.

This is our third stay at Wai'ula'ula, and we loved this villa! The layout is great for multi-generational vacations; the two master bedrooms are both lovely and each has indoor/outdoor showers. The double queen beds are great for kids. Furnishings in the villa are top notch, and kitchen was well-stocked with cabinets labeled so it was easy to put everything away. Fabulous ocean views from the lanai! Lots of baby gear available in the garage, along with plenty of boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, and coolers for outings. Wai'ula'ula has a great gym and lovely community pool. Donna did a wonderful job communicating with us about the booking, and everything went very smoothly. We highly recommend getting the resort privileges and taking advantage of all of the amenities at Mauna Kea and Hapuna hotels; the Mauna Kea beach is one of our favorite spots in the world, and Hapuna has dramatically improved its pools in the last year or so. We took fun day trips (horseback riding in the Waipi'o Valley, snorkeling with Fair Wind tours to Captain Cook monument), but mostly just enjoyed the villa and the beach on this trip!

This villa is equipped with everything you need for a large or small family. We stayed 10 days and were very happy to have the large, high end equipped kitchen, our own jacuzzi and small pool away from the crowds of the Mauna Kea and Westin Hapuna. The furniture is very comfortable, clean and neutral. A car is a must. I would suggest a golf cart which is road approved for zipping back and forth to the beach. Great views of the ocean and mountains.

Aloha! Where can I begin? This VRBO is amazing! The villa is located in the quiet gated development of Wai'ula'ula, 7 minutes from the fabulous Mauna Kea resort and about the same distance from the Hapuna resort. We enjoy Mauna Kea resort much more, so we visited Hapuna resort only few times. We spent a month in this villa. We actually feel very territorial about this home, like it would be our own. It's easy to feel this way about this marvelous place. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you are home. Upon arriving you will be greeted by a private courtyard with beautiful plants and exotic flowers. Luxurious, comfortable Tommy Bahama furniture welcomes you with a feather sofa, designer throw pillows, comfortable dining set and bar stools you will enjoy daily for a quick breakfast or just a chat. Whether you are lounging outdoors by the pool or the spa, enjoying Hawaiian sunsets with a glass of wine on the lanai, eating at the dining room table, cooking on the Wolf stove or just watching a movie on the 90" TV, (yes, 90"), the open concept of the villa is very enjoyable. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of plates, glasses and cookware. Everything is labeled for easy organizing and visibility. There is plenty of room in the Subzero fridge to hold your groceries with a separate wine fridge to hold all your beverages.
Bedrooms are carpeted and again most of the furniture is Tommy Bahama. Beds are comfy with pillow mattress pads and beautiful, ironed linens. All the bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms. The master and Jr.master also have outdoor showers. Just be careful walking around bare-foot outdoors. This is Hawaii and even with the monthly pest control, which this villa definitely provides, there could be scorpions and others creatures crawling around. There is ample room in the walk in closets to store your belongings and more.
The two car garage is spacious and opens up to the laundry room. In the laundry room there is an LG washer and dryer. Comes handy, if you are staying for a longer period of time, like we did. This villa is managed by Donna, who we had a pleasure meeting. She is very helpful, personable and knowledgeable about 'everything" Hawaii. She does an amazing job!
I am running out of space to write my review...this doesn't happen that often. Go ahead, rent this villa freely and enjoy! Just make sure it's not in a time frame when we want to come back and have some more of blissful time at the Mauna Kea.

This is a great home with all the needs covered. I was there with my wife & 4 girls and we were all very comfortable. It could use a few more beach towels and toys but does have bogie boards and beach chairs. It is large, great outdoor deck with a small pool and hot tub & tons of chairs outside with a great BBQ. We would sit in the hot tub at night and star gaze- it was unreal- could see the milky way. It is decorated beautifully and has wonderful furniture with terrific showers in the home. Comes with all the kitchen needs too. It has huge TV's throughout the home, great for night time movie watching and sports viewing, as i was catching the World Cup very early in the AM. We rented a golf cart so the girls could come and go to the beach as they desired and it was great to have all week (must be a licensed driver over 16 driving it). We did the weekly amenty cards for Hapuna and Mauna Kea, so we could use their pools, fitness and beach chairs, along with a charge account vs. carrying cash or credit card. It was just a wonderful, relaxing week at a great villa. Note- if you're seeking to watch the sunset from the villa- we could not see it in summer- but just drove the cart down to Hapuna or beach and watched it there. Donna and her team are very responsive, BTW- great people to deal with on any item. Final note- this area avoids the heavy VOG effect, whereas the closer you get to Kona, the worse it gets. We did fly Sunshine to go see the volcano, which takes off literally up the hill- easy.
