The place was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Myself being middle aged I have some concerns about the bed and my back when I stay away from home. This bed was just right being at medium-hard firmness. The sheets could be upgraded to deep pocket corners as they would sometimes ride up the mattress. The kitchen had all amenities needed . I was happy to find a wine bottle opener (after we bought a bottle). I would suggest to get a hand lemon juicer. The coffee maker had grains in the tank portion from previous tenants. I wiped out most of the grains. I would suggest to replace as it looks to be near end of life. The living room was inviting and the couch was comfortable. We didn’t use the dining area as we had our meals on the patio. The property was very clean. We chose this property because of beach/ocean access and we were ecstatic with the beach, ocean, birds and sunsets.

Grounds, location of the unit, check in process and access to manager. Well cleaned. Mattress and blinds. Fridge and AC work well!
Issues: very minimally stocked with essentials, ( no sugar, salt or pepper, dryer sheets, shampoo or conditioner etc etc) for a few dollars you could really provide one use essentals to your guests that are standard in every other hotel or vrbo i have rented. No real beach equipment and very minimal kitchen supplies. Lots of glass in the unit but no cleaning supplies like windex or clorox even in the supplies closet. Nice to be able to clean the glass or toilet on a 5 day stay. I agree with the reviewer that said this is abnormal for maui VRBO and guests should know.
Fan over the bed clicks and has broken glass, had issues with hot water that the manager immediately tried to address.
Someone hit my parked car in the parking structure resulting in an insurance claim.

Perfect condo for our stay in Maui! The condo was clean and had everything we needed. We did not have any maintenance issues during our stay. The shutters in the bedroom where very nice and kept the morning light out. Quiet location, couldn't hear any other tenants. We enjoyed the neighborhood, glad we rented a car for traveling to restaurants. Beach access was perfect and beautiful!

This is an older property built in the 70s that is on the north end of Kihei nice pool complex, hot tub lawn area in front of the beach. Walking distance to ABC store and farmers market. Our unit was comfortable and perfect for us inside. Could use some updates and cleaned a little better. We really enjoyed our week here.

The resort is in a great location to travel easily to anywhere on Maui. The unit suited us perfectly and we enjoyed visits with others around the pool after our days exploring. Recommended for everyone!

This was a wonderful stay at a very well maintained, comfortable and clean unit. Being on the ground floor just steps from the pool and the ocean was very convenient. Lots of amenities on the property and the property staff were very friendly. We were well looked after by Theresa the manager, she is very good at her job and cares. This would be our first choice for another vacation.

Sugar Beach is a beautiful resort. We have stayed at this resort several times, but this was our first stay in this particular condo. We were disappointed in a number of things we think others would want to be aware of in this unit. Overall, this unit needs significant updating. There were only very basic kitchen items, with many in need of repair or replacement. The flooring, cupboards and wall paint is completely worn out. However the king bed is great…very comfortable. There were no beach chairs or flotation items which are almost standard in any other condo we have ever stayed at (we’ve been to Maui 30+ times). We asked the owner if she would reimburse us us if we purchased new beach chairs and left them for future guests. She would only offer payment of $50, which would not have covered the cost of the chairs. The unit is on the ground floor, which is great, but there is a constant indoor fly problem because of the proximity of the gardens (even with screen doors being consistently shut). We had to spray with insect killer (purchased by us) many times a day throughout our stay.
The resort also unexpectedly closed down the pool for 48 hours during our stay. They were unable to finish whatever the issue was and kept it closed for a further two days. This was very frustrating for everyone.
Finally, we found the front office service to be very inconsistent. They would frequently (3 times during our stay that we were aware of) leave and lockup the office during opening hours, with no notice of when they would be returning.
While we still very much enjoyed the overall resort, we would not return to this unit.

Loved the location of this unit on the bottom floor. Our lanai (porch) led out to the sidewalks to the pool and the beach. The beach has lots of sand and not many rocks. Would love to stay here again!

Stayed here for 2 nights and loved the location. Sugar beach is fantastic. Condo was good for me and my husband. Nice full kitchen, comfy living space and bedroom. It was nice being on the ground floor so we could easily use the patio door for a quick dip out for a snack or a swim in the pool.

Firstly, this was a wonderful location, in a quiet resort on a gorgeous beach with very nice amenities. The condo is a big 1 bedroom and had everything we needed. Overall, I found it nicer than the pictures showed.
The king size bed has been replaced and it very comfortable now. The furniture was also good, and generally this was a really great place, especially for the price.
However, there were a couple of issues I’d like to mention. First, I had a hard time connecting with the property manager prior to our arrival for details on how to access the suite. I messaged the owner about a week in advance and she told me that I would be sent the information 24 hours prior to arrival. I sent a message that afternoon asking for details, and got no reply. As we were waiting to board the airplane in Vancouver (about 8 hours prior to check-in), I still hadn't heard anything back and was beginning to worry that I had been scammed. I reached out again asking for the door code as we would be getting to Hawaii at about 10pm local time and wanted to make sure we had a place to go. When we landed in Maui, there was still no reply. I messaged again to say we had arrived, with still no reply.
We got our rental car, stopped at the grocery store, and by this time it was 11pm on the day we were supposed to check in and we still had no info. I phoned the number listed and it went o voicemail. I left a message, and then phoned the “emergency only” number that was given in the voicemail. A man answered the emergency number and sounded annoyed and confused at first. At this point I was convinced that we had been ripped off and would be spending our first night of our honeymoon sleeping in our car.
I finally received a call back as we were driving towards Kehei, from someone (she didn’t identify herself), telling me that she had texted me the info. I checked, and still nothing. She sent a message through VRBO and we finally got the door code. There was no apology, no acknowledgement of the inconvenience.
Secondly, while the suite was surface clean, the kitchen had splattered food all over the cabinets, and the shower/bathroom had a lot of soap scum and dirty corners etc. It could use a really good scrub.
Despite these issues, I would stay here again in the future, I would just be more persistent in asking for information and clarify how to get a hold of the owner or manager.

If you want to stay in Sugar Beach for a decent price, this is a great spot. Easy on-site parking, access to a pool, beach towels were provided, laundry in unit, and perfect location for beach walks (we saw several people swimming in the ocean but there's a good amount of rocks/debris so there are definitely better places to swim/beach a short drive away). The unit is comfortable and has pretty much whatever you need, but it is no frills and outdated in terms of decor. Biggest issue is that we read several reviews that the bed was outdated/saggy/uncomfortable, so we contacted the host in advance before booking and they said that they were replacing the mattress and that the new one would arrive well before our booking started. Unfortunately this was not the case and the mattress was indeed saggy/old/uncomfortable. I was pretty disappointed that the host mislead us and probably would not have made this booking had I known that. Despite that, we enjoyed our stay in Kihei.

The location was perfect. Only complaint I have is the bed, it definitely needs to be replaced/fixed. My partner and I didn't rest well because the bed was awful. We ended up leaving with really bad back pain and in need of a massage when we got home from our vacation.

We had positive and negative experiences in the property.
The good: it is located next to the beach and you can walk directly to the beach, the premisses have access to rental equipment and have a restaurant. The property has a full kitchen and living area which makes it great to hang out.
The negative: you are asked to check in to get the access codes to the pool and parking (which for me is inconvenient because we barely used the place and forced us to be there during their business hours). The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on it is broken and we woke up every single morning with huge back pain. The whole premisses are in huge need of painting which makes it feel like it is dirty.

Communication was excellent and the property was as described. We were disappointed with the lack of amenities, for example, no shampoo, salt, pepper or other staples. Other places we have stayed at have had welcome items and this place was satisfactory but made us go out and buy things I felt should have been provided. The small fan didn’t work, the light on stove and microwave didn’t work. The bathroom sink drains very slowly. The Maui guidebook was in a closet and I feel it would have been helpful to have on the coffee table. We did leave it there. And the strangest thing was when drying the clothes the dryer lint blew all over the shower. I would recommend the resort but not this unit.

I had a family gathering on Maui and when I looked for places my sister recommended Sugar Beach Resort. I was amazed at the deal I got on this property. The property was exactly as promised in the description! It was in a convenient area so many things with in a 15 minutes radius. The only thing is if you don’t like your bed to be soft you won’t sleep well, but the sofa is comfy I had a nice nap on it. The manager was nice and answered any emails I sent to her promptly. I would recommend this condo as an excellent option, staying in Maui!

The property was clean and in a perfect location. Just steps away from the pool and beach at the resort. Check in was a breeze and we never had any problems while staying. The only downside is the extremely dull kitchen utensils. Definitely could use some upgrades but regardless of that a great stay and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

We really enjoyed this condo!
Excellent central location for day trips.
Free parking, safe lot. Friendly check-in and easy keypad access to unit. A/C worked well, close to main entrance and amenities but a more private feel from neighbors (due to bushes between main coomon area to back patio).
Nice living space/ room arrangement: spacious living room to walkout patio (easy pool or beach access). Generously sized and quiet back bedroom with slide closet and large dresser.
Didn’t need the loaned cooler and sun hats but good to bote and are a great idea!
Only downside, to be full disclosure:
At time of stay-- sofa-Hideabed is not a reasonable sleeping or bed option.
(Couldn't enjoy just for length of a movie.
Very thin mat on coil/bar, not a true mattress. Would need a foam topper, just to plan for that with groups or families.)
But Sofa as a couch itself is comfortable and fits 2- 3 easily ! Two additional lounge chairs make the place feel cozy and we'll furnished.
Great pool and spa hot tub, nice Sandy Beach out front to lounge and snorkel,
highly recommend!

This condo was on the ground floor, which made getting in and out very easy. It is just steps away from the ocean and we were able to rent boogie boards to play in the waves with. The sunsets we saw were amazing! The condo had everything we needed to have a great vacation.

After two years without being able to travel, Sugar Beach Resort 107 was a home away from home. The unit was clean and comfortable and just steps from the beach. The location of the resort kept us away from the Kihei crowds and traffic while keeping food and entertainment just a short distance away. This allowed us to relax from the moment we arrived. We would absolutely stay here again.

The condo was exactly as listed. Unit was clean and stocked well with what was needed to cook at home. Perfectly located across from the pool.
The only things to note:
While the owner was great to communicate with (thank you Lori), Vacasa was not. If not for great communication with Lori, we would not have received our check in information before landing on the island.
Unfortunately, while it was nice to have a king size bed, the mattress is in need of replacement.
Laundry soap - I know that most resorts have specific requirements on what kind of soap can be used, we found that what was given to us to use was not enough for the time we were there. Knowing where to buy it would have been helpful.

The location is simply amazing! A few steps from the best beach in Maui.
