Our stay was WONDERFUL. This property is perfect, away from much of civilization but 15 minutes from the lively town of Hanalei. The apartment was clean and bright and had wonderful views. We enjoyed the pool, the hot tub and relished coming back here after a day exploring the North coast. Paradise. We will be back!

We had a great 4 night stay in Feb. Absolutely great view of beach from lanai and also somewhat visible from bedrooms. Well-maintained and friendly service through the host manager. A few things to know:--Agree with previous reviewer that there should be a little more flexibility in how many towel sets you can use for what you are paying.-Renting through VRBO you do not get the use of the resort shuttle. We didn't have a problem with parking anywhere, but it would have been a nice option.-Recycling is available.-There is an excellent coffee shop beside restaurant with extremely friendly owner.-If you want to hike the Kalamau trail or visit Ke'e beach in Haena state park, book a shuttle or parking well in advance. Note: The shuttle will pick you up at the resort, but you must inform 3 days in advance and provide proof of lodging. -Highly recommend a visit to Limahuli garden near state park. -Farmer's market in Princeville was great, with good food trucks and Kauai made crafts.--Recommend swimming at lifeguard beaches in winter months. Surf is rough but spectacular to watch.--Please don't use suntan products from home if swimming--they damage the coral reefs which are already having a hard time. We would return and overall great place.

We enjoyed our stay in this unit at the Hanalei colony resort. It has amazing views to the ocean and peaks of the mountains too. You can walk on the beach in both directions depending on tides. The north island is very relaxing but you will still need reservations for the Kīlauea lighthouse and Ke’e beach so it’s not a casual as you might want. Winter is the rainy season so you will need to drive south for the sunshine you might be wanting. We stayed in January and some days were amazing and others rain all day. The unit was well equipped and had most everything you need. Note, no dryer can make packing a chore so get some quarters from the store and plan to use the laundry room on the property. It was difficult to hang dry towels and beach gear in this unit. Note: the pots and pans could use a refreshed set from Costco or similar. Would recommend for 3-4 nights of a week in Kauai during rainy season. Also if you’d like to use the resort shuttle to beaches or town then need to book via resort not VRBO.

We loved the view and breeze on our lanai the most! The unit is beautiful and newly updated. The kitchen was well appointed. Unfortunately the beach breeze didn’t flow through the unit as much as we would have liked due to how the building is positioned, so it did get a bit hot and humid when we were there in early September. That was the ONLY thing we didn’t love. We recommend that you walk across the parking lot and get a massage on the beach from the Hanalei Day Spa - glorious!

The Colony is terrific. Very quiet, peaceful, and priced right. If you are looking for relaxing place this is it. If you are looking for lots of nightlife and restaurants then stay in Poipu. My family enjoyed our stay.

The property is comfortable with nice updates and amenities. The views are amazing, with great beach access. There is a nice spot that is safe for swimming/wading. And you can walk on the beach forever. Also has a really nice pool.
Be aware that there is no TV or dishwasher. Not having a TV was actually nice, so you can focus on watching and listening to the ocean. And the wifi was surprisingly good so you can stream to your devices no problem if you want.
Already recommended this location to family members who have booked a trip later this month. Proximity to Hanelei is great, never really felt the need to go anywhere else on the island.

The condo was nice and comfortable with a great view. The beds were comfortable but it was unfortunate that the wind constantly blew screen doors on the building that weren’t latch and woke us easily with the loud bangs along with a cat that would meow outside our door. Can’t control acts of nature but if things like this bother you just a heads up. During check in getting our parking pass we were not given the warmest of welcomes at all actually seemed like we weren’t wanted there. We also had an incident of a less than warm welcome to the resort with an employee at the coffee shop. But we didn’t let that over shadow the grounds keepers and housekeepers who were great and easy to talk with. Back to within the condo we had an issue with lighting on one end of the condo with multiple bulbs flashing and the lights in the shower not working at all leaving us feeling like we were showering in a closet. We did call and leave a message because it was not an emergency and it was the weekend. However, over the 4 days we were there we never got a return call. Lastly only two sets of towel for 3 people and 4 days is kind of thin and the threat of extra cost to use more left us reusing the same towels for 4 days. Let alone the fact that there was only 1 roll of toilet paper for our use with no spares. All in all the condo its self is ok and we did enjoy ourselves we try to no let little things bother us. But I feel it would be unfair to others to not know of the short comings.

If you want to escape, this is your place. This unit, even though it’s not oceanfront, is a stone’s throw from the ocean and the lanai has a perfect view of it. This is not an all-inclusive resort and that’s exactly why we stayed there. Secluded, private, and amazing location, as close to the “end of the road” as you can get. Incredible property with a restaurant, small coffee shop and day spa just across the parking lot.

The Hanalei Colony Resort is well known to me, as I have been vacationing in Ha'ena for the past 20 years. I have never stayed there until this visit, however, as we usually rent a standalone home. Our unit was comfortable and had a lovely ocean view. The kitchen was missing some basic items, such as a salad spinner and more than one cutting board, but all in all it was satisfactory. The unit was well stocked with beach gear (chairs, umbrella, etc.), but unfortunately there was no place to hang our wet bathing suits, wet suits, etc., as the property doesn't allow hanging these items on the railing of the lanai, with good reason. A foldable drying rack would be a good addition to the amenities in the unit. We enjoyed using the gas grill by the swimming pool on two occasions. All in all this is a comfortable and pleasant place to stay. It's right on the beach and there are great views.

The venue versus the management company: this unit in this location is simply outstanding. Not all units in the complex have ocean view, but this one does. Every amenity we desired was there, including some we were told would NOT be.(when asking if there were beach chairs, we were told there were none and we were even given a location in Hanalei to rent them, which we did. We arrived to find not only chairs but every other imaginable beach need. ) After a 5 hour flight and 90-minute drive (this is beyond Hanalei, with a wonderful restaurant on site), we were unable to first find the unit. The “E” building we were in had no letter on it, although the others did. After some inquiries we found the right building, but the door code didn’t work. Thankfully someone from the company called us back promptly and, after 2 other codes were given, they were able to input one remotely and we were inside. The only other issue was at checkout. We had a relatively long stay of nine days. Both the paperwork & their app that said checkout was at noon. Only because we emailed to double check, we were told no, we would be expected out at 10 am [with no mention or apology for their error]. With the apps and other features the company is proud of, they exhibit an odd lack of attention to detail. Ideally by the time you read this, it will all have been fixed. So -- don't hesitate to book this because it’s truly a nice spot, but proceed with caution. The resort itself rents some out units at a higher rate, but the staff is kind and helpful, even to VRBO renters. And be aware you are at least 5 miles beyond Hanalei with narrow roadway and several one way bridges: get any supplies on your way out of town! You may not want to leave!

Such a great place. As we drove around Kauai we were consistenly thrilled that we'd chosen this place. Felt like a cozy villa rather than a hotel in one of the high traffic tourist areas. Kitchen was well stocked, bed was comfortable, patio was delightful, bathroom recently renovated, gorgeous woodwork done by local craftsmen. Kauai didn't fail to disappoint in sights and adventures. One of the best vacations we've had in years.

Old school Hawaii in a fantastic location. Though not a swimming beach right out front we found a wonderful spot just around the point to the west. Great snorkeling and swimming. Very quiet area and the restaurant on site was very good. Even got a beach side massage at the Hanalei Day spa on the property. Condo was a little hot with no AC but the fans and cross breeze made it just fine. Slept great on the comfy bed. Would love to stay again in the future. Very relaxing stay

We stayed three nights recently at this property. It was simple, but ample. The property was lovely as was the surrounding area. It is VERY peacful. There is no TV and the area is very very quiet. Our two days of activities as well as the day of our departure took us to the other side of the island. To that end, it was very far away from the things we'd planned to do (1.5-2.5 hours). But the town of Hanalei was charming and we wish we could've had more time to stay and explore where we were. The other thing to note is that we found it to be very hot without AC. We eventually left the front door open overnight to allow for good airflow. I took cold showers and never dried my hair once because it was just hotter. But I may be hot natured....

This place was fun. No television which was great. I felt like we could disconnect and just watch the waves. Bed was super comfortable and the place was clean. Wish it was better stocked with cooking oils and seasonings but other than that the kitchen was great! A bit of a drive from the hustle and bustle which was great. The pool and jacuzzi new and clean. It was great! Not too far from tunnels beach which was our favorite spot.

We stayed here at the end of February. It was peaceful and quiet, with the ocean sounds always in the background. It was clean and had most kitchen supplies anyone would need for cooking. The decor was tasteful and pleasing. We had to improvise to make coffee in the morning. The coffee pot was dead, so I poured hot water over the grounds. The beach had the prettiest sand! It was a little course and had pieces of coral scattered about. The best thing about the beach is that it was uncrowded. The waters are too rough for surfing, but that was fine. I liked the fact that there was no TV, but my companion really missed it. The most difficult thing for me was the frightening drive over several one-lane bridges, but it was always beautiful.

Very nice condo and fit the needs that we were looking for on the beach. Only downside is the water is not suitable in this immediate area for waterplay due to the rocky beach but Tunnels beach is better and only a mile walk along the beautiful shoreline.

We loved the remoteness of this property, away from the bustle of Princeville and Hanalei. The condo is nice, a little bit smaller compared to our stay in Poipu but adequate for family of 4.
The unit is rented out by Kauai Kahuna, so you don’t get to access the free shuttle provided by resort. Not a problem if you have car rental and have reservation booked one month ahead for Haena State Park.
Having breakfast in balcony and walking upto the sands early in morning was special. Kids loved the salt water pool that recently reopened in early Dec2021.
The resort property managers and staff were very helpful, courteous and willing to help even though unit is not managed by them. They even helped hold our luggage on last day since we didn’t want to leave it in car parked all day at Haena state park.
Note, walking to Tunnels beach is possible but not practical. Drive is less than 5min. Good food and breakfast options in Hanelei and Princeville about 10-15min drive.
Stay would be excellent if there were minor upgrades done to the unit such as rug/entry mat to keep sand out, a small shoe rack, a small box of sugar if someone wants to make tea/coffee. The sofa is firm and good for sleeping but the convertible bed is kinda soft.
Overall we were pleased with our stay and do it again just for the the location!

Beautiful location, excellent water and mountains views. The restaurant on the resort was delicious and enjoyed the small coffee shop as well. This didn’t really bother us however just to be clear for those booking, there is no AC but for 99% of the day the crosswinds are perfect, a couple afternoons got a little toasty. It was nice to unplug as there is no TV. It was very nice at night because it was quiet across the resort. My only negative is managing the landslide road closures in and out of hanalei, pay special attention especially when flying/checking in. The roads are also very narrow and I did not feel comfortable driving but my husband didn’t mind. Hope the laundry opens soon as that would have been the cherry on a perfect stay. The beach it sits on isn’t the best beach for mainlanders, but walking up and down is perfect, excellent views for sunset and balcony sitting. The condo was spacious, nice and updated! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!

We absolutely loved our stay- an amazing, relaxing getaway to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. The accommodations were well suited to our needs, nice remodel upgrades, a very comfortable bed, and soft sheets! Given how much we cooked, a few more basic appliances would be helpful- a colander, better knives, and more bowls are suggestions. The views, access to our favorite part of the North shore, and having Tunnels Beach within walking distance made for a perfect getaway. Thanks so much- we hope to return and will tell others!

I have always wanted to stay at this location. great for those who want to experience Kauai on the "other side" of the bridge. All the services are nearby and we didn't have to cross the bridge until our return to the airport. The local grocery store had everything we needed. A wide variety of restaurants with great food! "Postcards" is exceptional. Hanalei Grill is a health hazard. Kauai Kayak rentals is located in town and on the river for easy rentals. If you want to hike the "end of the road" waterfall trail, make reservations way before your arrivalI gave the property management only one star based on a false accusationof a noise issue. Not us but we were treated like criminals over the phone from an offsite location. Other than the a solid 5 stars. Prevacation and followup were excellent. E3 unit was very well appointed and maintained

I would say the condo is great. The reason I gave 4 stars is because, we asked the manager in the front office a couple of questions about rentals and her words were " that's not our rental so I can't help you." The fan in the bedroom has one very low speed. And lastly this condo doesn't come with beach chairs or an umbrella.

Amazing, stunningly beautiful, quiet stay. The pictures don't lie. Waking up to the sound of the ocean that's a 30-second walk away is hard to beat. There were only ever a handful of people at most on the beach and the stargazing at night was unparalleled. This is a true gem to find and I can't recommend staying here enough. The inside of the unit was spacious and modern. I don't feel like the pictures listed for the unit did the space justice.

This was the perfect rental spot. It fit exactly what I was looking for - quiet, walking distance to the beach, comfortable, relaxing. The photos don't lie. It really is a 15 second walk to the beach. The interior of the unit was a lot more spacious than I expected and was in beautiful condition. I don't believe the photos of the inside do this place justice. The design of the rooms with the sliding panels and walls for closing off sections were wonderful and let us keep the doors open and continue to enjoy the breeze and ocean sounds while still maintaining a sense of privacy. I can't recommend this place enough!
