This fourth floor oceanfront condo at the Kihei Surfside Resort is located on the sought after proximate ocean side of the building, and has a spectacular ocean view from the living room, dining area, lanai and kitchen areas. It is one of the larger one bedroom units with 1.5 bathrooms (680 sq ft). The view of the ocean, its abundant wildlife and contrasting well-maintained green grass lawn area is a breathtaking place to relax oceanside.

The unit has been beautifully remodeled (September 2016) to a very high standard. The kitchen and half bath vanities are done in rich cherry wood cabinetry and gorgeous grey granite countertops, which is consistent throughout the unit. The entire unit has cherry plank flooring. The lighting in the kitchen and dining room is controlled by dimmer switches.

The kitchen is fully equipped with gorgeous, high quality stainless steel appliances, including a side by side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, full size range, dishwasher, multi-function microwave oven, garbage disposer and a variety of small appliances including coffee maker, blender and rice maker. There is also a large selection of higher end pots and pans, baking pans, knife set, and ample matching dishes, glasses and cutlery.

The living room has a queen size pullout sofa-bed and a brand new 48" flat screen LCD color TV with HD cable box and DVD player, and a multi speed ceiling fan. There is free wireless high speed internet and telephone with free long distance calling to the United States and Canada.

The oceanfront dining area has a round rattan glass top table with 4 matching tropical chairs.

The large, private lanai has a round table with two chairs – a perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a romantic oceanfront dinner!

The bedroom has a high quality pillow top King sized bed, high quality bedding, flat screen TV, multi-speed ceiling fan, Hawaiian style furniture and large closet with a newly installed safe for safekeeping of your valuables.

The master bathroom has a full size, walk in shower and a wood vanity with Corian countertop. Both bathrooms have Kohler toilets.

The unit is fully equipped with utensils, fresh linens and towels, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, beach towels and a cooler. Umbrellas, boogie boards and snorkel gear are NOT supplied, but are often left behind in the units by other guests – no guarantees. The Kihei Surfside office loans out beach chairs free of charge. Coin laundry facilities are available on site.

This unit is an excellent choice for guests who are looking for a beautifully remodeled unit in a spectacular location in the building with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and the West Maui mountains.

Rates for one bedroom units are for up to 2 people. 3rd and 4th persons in the unit are $25/nt for adults and $15/nt for persons under 18. Maximum 4 people.

The Kihei Surfside Resort consists of an absolute oceanfront concrete building of 6 floors and 84 deluxe units with an elevator. There is free parking on site. The resort is a twenty-five minute drive from the Kahului Airport (OGG). Rental cars are available at the airport or in Kihei town. There are also taxis available at the airport (about $50), a shuttle bus and public transportation.

Virtually all of the properties and resorts in Kihei are either located right on busy S. Kihei Rd., or if they are set back from the road - are across from the street from the ocean. One unique feature of the Kihei Surfside is that it is located at the quiet end of S. Kihei Road, AND is set back 300 feet from S. Kihei Road AND is located right on the ocean! Because it is hard to see from the road, many first time Surfside guests say that even though they have visited Kihei many times, they had never seen the resort!

Another unique feature of the property is that we have a 2 acre, immaculately kept oceanfront lawn area with dozens of loungers, with a heated swimming pool and deluxe barbeque facilities. In season, there are daily whale sightings from both the grounds and lanais. In fact, the Pacific Whale Foundation conducts their annual whale count from our property. The building is located at the north end of Keawakapu Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on Maui, where you can walk for miles past some of the most expensive oceanfront homes on the island and the luxurious hotels of Wailea, including the Grand Wailea Hotel. It is customary for the residents of the Kihei Surfside to gather each evening for cocktails on the shore near the tiki torches for a traditional Hawaiian sundown ceremony. Feel free to join in - this is a great opportunity to meet your neighbours and fellow vacationers!

The island also has a Costco and a Wal-Mart,

There is never any shortage of things to do on Maui. The Shops at Wailea, Wailea Golf Club, Wailea Tennis Club and Makena Golf Club are within a five minute drive. The Kihei boat ramp is located 100 yards north of the property. Several of the tour operators for snorkelling and diving launch here. See Maui Dive Shop, Makena Coast Dive Charters, and Blue Water Rafting. Maalaea harbour is a 20 minute drive, and from there you would get the fishing charters and sunset dinner cruises, or visit the Maui Ocean Center. The old whaling town of Lahaina is a 45 minute drive, from there you can ride on the Atlantis Submarine, or go for a boat trip with the Pacific Whale Foundation. Helicopter tours are available from the airport. See Blue Hawaiian Helicopters or Air Maui. Feeling adventurous? Try riding a bike down Mount Haleakala - Haleakala Bike Company. For exercise enthusiasts, there are a couple of gyms nearby – Powerhouse Gym, Valley Isle Fitness, and Pilates Maui. There is also a yoga studio Maui Yoga Path right across the parking lot.

This place has a fantastic west-facing view for incredible sunsets! It's right on the water, and perfect for two people. Or even potentially three or four, since there are two toilets, two sinks (one full size shower), and a fold-out sofa-bed in the living room. My fiancé and I slept on on the fold-out one night just to listen to the waves. Other nights, we slept on the big, comfy, king-sized bed. From the building, you can walk about 20 yards to the south to a warm, public sand beach. While we were swimming there, a giant sea turtle swam by us! You won't likely find a better price for the caliber of location on Maui. It doesn't have A/C or a jacuzzi, but who cares? You can just open the big sliding glass lanai doors and window, and let the trade winds cool you down. There's also a sparkling clean swimming pool with communal gas BBQs next to it, and a big beautiful lawn with palm trees and plenty of chairs for sunset-gazing. Other amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, two TV sets (one living room, one bedroom), zippy WiFi, and parking right in front of the building. There's on-site coin-op laundry, garbage and recycling, and a small book library. There's also an 808 Market/Deli in the building across the street, very handy for munchies and sundries. Lots of snorkeling tours leave from the Kihei boat ramp, and you can pretty much walk to the ramp from this building. It's also a very short drive into Kihei or Wailea. Can't wait to return!

The Surfside Kihei is a six story building located right on the water on the south end of Kihei, close to Wailea. The complex is well maintained, with a spectacular ocean views and an easy walk to the beach. There's also a nice pool and BBQ area that are immaculately maintained. The biggest downside is that the property was noisier than we expected. Evidently May - Sept is the "low season" on Maui and that's when the condo allows owners to renovate their units. Some days it was quite loud cat times with noise from saws, drills, fork lifts, hammering and general construction noise. If you're sensitive to sounds and want a quiet, serene setting, be aware this complex is rather loud, at least May - Sept. Having said that, the unit is beautiful, the sunset views are amazing, and the beach and snorkeling are fabulous.

My husband and I had a great stay. View from the balcony is beautiful, and the resort area is very nice. Place was very clean and has good furnishings. Walking distance to beautiful beach and secluded from busier places nearby. Only thing to keep in mind is no AC currently, but not really needed in Maui!

We enjoyed the location very much. Beautiful view, turtles everywhere and the park was a joy. Our only complaint is the mattress needs an upgrade. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Amazing location, incredible views!!! Cute place, king bed and pullout sofa were perfect for our family of 3. The views and hearing the waves crashing onshore make this place really special. Larry’s place is comfortable, well stocked and the extra 1/2 bath made it a win traveling w our teenage daughter. Sunset BBQ dinners and the oceanfront pool makes this place SO much better than the upscale hotels and restaurants just down the road in Wailea. The Yoga Studio next door offered morning class on the beach - bonus! Kam 3 Beach is wide with the softest sand and fairly uncrowded. Beach chairs, cooler, snorkel gear and boogie boards plus lots of other games, and useful things to have on vacation were much appreciated. We’d love to book again, when we come back to Maui. Thanks, Larry!

This VRBO was very accurately described and depicted. I would say it is everything they advertise. It's very clean and an excellent view from suite 404. The suite is very well appointed with enough pots and pans and dishes and snorkeling snorkeling and boogie boarding and even instead of golf clubs for your use you're used. There's some Beach shells and beach chairs as well, Parking was easy and we always had a spot. Our family had a great time and we would recommend this place to Anyone.

The place delivered so much more than the description, spacious with great trade wind flow through fresh air, well appointed kitchen, two excellent BBQs (cleaned daily), amazing outlook with beautiful sunsets, well kept property with some of the best snorkelling. We’re looking forward to our next stay.

The location is great - central and close to airport, day trip to Haleakala, day trip to west coast area. The place is exactly as pictured. The view amazing. Loved hearing the waves crash all night, and the roosters in the morning. The grassy area outside is great to walk around and sit on the benches. Check out the bird feeder, some cool birds that look like they belong in a pet store. Sandy beach around the corner, wish we had more time there.

The location is perfect for those who want immediate access to the beach. Swimming and snorkeling are a few steps away. The view is nothing short of amazing. Some of the items in the unit felt old (chair cushions) or poor quality (bedding, pull out couch, rice cooker, etc.). Not a good spot for someone looking for a little luxury or a romantic spot. However, totally perfect if you are looking for a low key spot to cook your own meals while enjoying the beach. The beach next door was one of my favorite on the whole island. It is also far less busy than many other beaches, likely because it is not in town and does not have many hotels on it. It is lined with condos/ homes instead. Much of the beach is perfect sandy bottom but the one end has rocks and coral with some fair snorkeling. It is also very near to Wailea and the shopping / beach opportunities there. Oh, and did I mention the view!!!

It was our first visit to Maui and we are really glad we took a friend’s advice and booked at Surfside. The condo had enough room for us (an adult family of four) and I was really glad our 20-something daughters had their own bathroom. It did get warm in the rooms at times since there’s no air conditioning, but opening the windows for the afternoon winds helped cool the rooms. We had no problem finding parking each day arriving at all hours. Roosters were a very early wake up alarm daily beginning around 4 am (the office offers earplugs for the noise- no joke). The condo did have extras like games, videos, and swim equipment. The shoreline in front of the building is lava stones, nice for exploring the tide pools but not for swimming . Fast responses by owner and simple check-in. Would book again!

After booking we received information, communication, and directions for upcoming stay. We received welcome messages upon arrival and departure. We walked into the condo and the view was breathtaking and just perfect setup of with furniture and amenities. Kitchen is upgraded with every kitchen item necessary to cook a 7 course meal. Sleeping and hearing waves crash is nothing we get at home. Every night we watched the sun go down in front of our balcony. We snorkled nearby with all the equipment necessary. We cannot wait to return again!

We have stayed at this property at least a dozen times over the last 30 years. We appreciate the updated units as well as the recent building improvement (new windows). We love the view of the water and West Maui; every unit has this amazing vista. Gorgeous lawn becomes a gathering place not only for guests but for locals, too, to watch the sunset. The property has a very low key, causal vibe which may not be for everyone who wants more of a resort experience. The property to the south of the Kihei Surfside has a bit more action with a bar/restaurant, watersport rentals, yoga studio, and a beautiful beach with good snorkeling, This is just steps away. Our unit (404) was nicely updated had all the kitchen equipment necessary. The bathrooms did not feel recently updated but did not bother us. No AC. Only issue we had were the roosters crowing starting in the wee hours. Never experienced this before at this property. Management said they were trying to address this problem.

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
