We love staying in Kanai a Nalu in Maalaea. We dislike a lot of touristy beaches and love that Sugar Beach is so close. Location is close to everything as long as you don’t mind driving. Sad to see Beach albums closed but harbor and aquarium within walking distance. Thanks for having us.

My family loved our stay here. The location was great, the view was amazing and the condo was well stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the beach chairs, sand toys and even life jackets were available! Would definitely stay here again!

We loved the condo and the property. The beach nearby was within close walking distance. We liked using the outdoor grill area and pool. The only thing we mentioned was that it would be nice to have restaurants within walking distance. At least it was only a short drive to have a nice selection of restaurants. Overall, we LOVED our stay and have already talked about coming back.

Excellent experience at kan316 with Destination Maui. They were professional, responsive and accommodating to requests. The place was well stocked, clean and comfortable. Sofa bed was comfortable enough (a bit saggy but concerns for the week). Bathrooms are a bit dated but functional/clean. Washer and dryer were very handy (although they only take small loads). We were able to park 2 cars though only one was guaranteed (lot wasn’t full probably because our trip was in May). Location is great for those with an active itinerary. You could even walk to the aquarium or harbour and take the bus if you didn’t have a car for the day.

We had a great time. The property was close to all the things we wanted to do. We did a whale watching adventure and a fishing trip both out of the harbor down the street from the property. There is also a very large beach a few hundred yards from the property.

Amazing location just a few steps from a great beach. Spacious condo with great view of the ocean and sunsets. Washer and dryer inside also make it very convenient. Our family of 5 had a wonderful time.

We stayed in the 2 bed/ 2 bath condo #316 and it was great! It was nice to have a washer and dryer in the unit. We were able to wash a load of beach towels daily. The location was perfect.

This property was great!!
View: This is the perfect place for a sunset, a view of whales in the distance and the beautiful ocean.
Location: The location on the south is great for getting to snorkeling beaches, close to the west towns, easy to get to airport and north and west sides of the island. There is even a shopping area a half mile down the road with an aquarium. The price was a bit high, but it had all of the fish we were seeing when snorkeling. It was a great place if you want the names and information on the local fish, whales, etc. It was really well done. The snorkeling off the beach was nice. There are a lot of fish, sea turtles and coral, though go to the west side to see more live coral colors.
Room: There was room for my three kids and husband and I to stay. There were plenty of plates so you didn't need to constantly wash dishes. The bathrooms were nice. The beds were comfortable. We didn't test the pull out couch, but it was available. It was really clean. The fridge is large which was great because we cooked in most days. There are two grills on site. The AC works but you have to be on top of it. There was a 12 hour timer which switched it off. The outside temp was great that week so it didn't make it hard.
Property: The swimming pool was really nice. It is open from 9am to 9pm. There is a wash station to shower off after going to the beach and before heading to the pool. This wash station was great for our snorkeling gear too. The property doesn't have direct access to the water. But we were able to get to the beach with some activity and a short walk.

Our original reservations for this trip fell through less than 2 months before our arrival. We were so thankful to find this listing, and even more thankful when we arrived to find the perfect condo in an amazing location. Everything about this unit and the grounds was superb! The view of the ocean was amazing. The grounds were very well kept by hardworking, very friendly people. The condo was well equipped and comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay. I suggest two improvements:
1) The carpets should be replaced by tiles to improve the cleanliness
2) The second bedroom should have an air condition unit.
I would recommend this place to other visitors.

We enjoyed our two weeks in this condo. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do on the island, and the property was usually fairly quiet and peaceful. The condo itself could use some updating, but everything worked. We were surprised to find that there were exposed nails in two places in the carpet- where it meets the entryway and at the entrance to the smaller bedroom. We had to put bath rugs over the areas after two of us stepped on nails with our bare feet.

Constantly windy. Noisy due to planes overhead. Pool closeby so noisy. No AC in bedroom number 2. AC in other rooms would not cool down the place till 11 at night. Difficult to access beach due to lack of an access point.

316 had partial ocean views, fans in all the rooms and A/C which we did not use in April because of the consistent breeze in Ma'alaea Bay. We slept with windows open to the sound of the ocean. The pool had a fountain that covered up most of the noise from the pool. Pool was a great feature for the family. Beach was private and not crowded. Outdoor shower by the pool/beach. Unit 316 had a stacking washer/drawer which was very useful! Ma'alea Bay is central to all areas in Maui.

We loved this condo, the pool was fun, the access to the beach was awesome. Hearing the waves is one of my favorite parts of a vacation. The mini golf place and the aquarium right up the street were both really fun. The only part I didn’t love was the window washers that rang the doorbell at 7 am. They also tried to unlock the door which scared my kids to death. They said they didn’t know anyone was in the unit. We also didn’t know you had to turn the timer knob for the air conditioning to turn on. But someone from management let us know after we called.

Overall, this is a very nice property and we had a very nice time while we were there. The grounds, pool, and BBQ are were lovely and well maintained. Our room was nice, though it could use some updates to modernize it a bit. The refrigerator and the range/oven looked like they may have been from the late 1980's. I can't honestly remember when I last saw a stove top with the electric coil burners.
Even though things were dated they were clean and functional.
Pros: Easy to access, nice location, nice grounds and pool. There is an elevator which was great for my senior mother. Ample parking and quiet at night, which is a plus for me. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. My mother said the same about the twin bed in the guest room. The kitchen was outfitted with everything we needed.
Cons: Dated appliances. There was carpet throughout with the exception of the kitchen and bathrooms. The carpet tacks were sticking far enough out in the seam between the dining room and kitchen that we all were jabbed at least a couple of times walking. We fixed the situation by putting one of the throw rugs over the seam for the duration of our stay. The carpet looked worn.
Overall, I would recommend the room and the resort.

While the unit had 2 bedrooms, there were 5 adults in our party making the common areas (kitchen, living/dining area & lanai) a little crowded. The directions in the unit were way out of date (wrong phone numbers etc). The fridge started leaking, but once we reached Rosemary (property manager) she got the handyman there quickly. The garbage disposal stopped and a cleaning person showed us how to reset it. Carpet could use a thorough cleaning and parts were pretty frayed (could feel the tack strip with our bare feet!). The stove burner bowls had been recently replaced, but incorrectly so that the burners were tipped. The vent fan in the master bath was of uncertain functionality...we just kept the overhead fan on and we able to dry bathing suits and towels overnight. You get the picture: the place needs some tender, loving maintenance. Beds were comfy, location great, pretty quiet (except for aircraft on approach to the Maui Airport.
Despite my complaints, we had a fine time staying there. Just don't expect some deluxe place.

Room was perfect with a great view of the beach. Saw a few whales daily from our lanai overlooking the pool. Location was very convenient and within walking distance to the beach, Maui General Store, Maui Ocean Center and restaurants. Didn't see any parking for non-registered guests, though. Other family members who lived on Maui had to park on the street. But, would definitely stay there again!

Kudos to Cristina for responding and accommodating our request promptly, thank you so much! We enjoyed our stay in your place for it’s excellent location. But may we request your cleaning personnel to address/eradicate the ants hiding, crawling along the kitchen countertop by the window and in the corner of the stove, we noticed these ants on our arrival. We also noticed that there were washed towels left in the dryer when we came. Furthermore one of my cousins woke up with multiple bites in her extremities ( ? mosquitoes or bed bug bites? ) she slept in the master’s bedroom. Overall, your place is in excellent location and nice neighborhood except for some cleanliness issues.

Great spot to see all of Maui. The ocean view is incredible and we loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The condo was stocked with everything we needed. If we ever visit Maui again I’d love to stay here with my family.

Provided us with a great jumping off point for exploring the island and going on a snorkel tour. Great pool and barbeque area with the beach right there!
