We enjoy our stay for what it was, but if you are allergic to cats, sensitive to smells, or planning to spend a lot of time inside the home this may not be a good fit for you and your traveling party.
There is a nice kitchen with a beautiful dining table. The house provided all the beach accessories we needed; however, many of the items did smell like dirty cat/cat pee.
Parking and location was very convenient to many places we wanted to explore. Despite all of this we still enjoyed our stay.

Great place for a family vacation. Everything was perfect. Easy to get around the island. Hanalei Bay is super close with beautiful chill beaches. Kitchen is fully stocked for anything you may need. The general store by Foodland is easy to grab a quick bite to eat. Visit Queens Bath, Tunnels beach, shipwreck beach. Also, there is a dry cave you can visit past Hanalei Bay. We enjoyed the roasters visits everyday and when they came on the patio. And Bonkers (the cat) coming by every night for a quick visit. Having a washer and dryer is a big plus; no need to over pack. Ate a ton of shave ice from JoJos and Wishing Well. If you enjoy BBQ, chicken in a barrel is great. So many places to eat for everyone. Overall, Princeville is the place to stay for a chill and relaxing vacation.

The three bedrooms and two baths, clean apartment was well equipped to make our stay comfortable. Totally appreciate the well stocked kitchen which made cooking much easier. Also, the location was within walking distance to beautiful sights. Bonkers, the sweet cat waited out in the porch in the evenings for my young adults to feed him. Overall, the place was perfect for a family of six. Definitely recommend it!

This is a great location. Although there is a road behind the condo, you don’t know it’s there. No K cup coffee maker just for planning purposes. Grocery store very close, as well as lots of restaurants. Room with double beds is very warm during the day but it does cool down. So much so that my kids sleeping in there ended up cold in the middle of the night. All the beach gear, including coolers, are provided. This is a great spot!

The house is surrounded by tropical plants. A friendly cat comes to say hello. Just down the street is a quaint juice bar and a beautiful view of Hanalei Bay. Just a short drive away to several beaches. The house was comfortable. Kitchen set up with everything we needed.

I can’t say enough good about this place!
Perfect location- close to everything we wanted to do/see, but still felt private/calm/quiet.
This townhome is in a quiet complex- neighbors were lovely!
Plenty of room for our family of 5; 3 kids (ages 13, 15 and 22) and my husband and I to all hang/relax.
AC units were a great option- but we never used them. The house fans and breeze was all we needed.
The kitchen is truly amazing- has everything and more!
We Loved Bonkers the cat that visits daily and his little girlfriend Marmalade!
We will be back and would never stay anywhere else!

The Views! The Views! Wow! My family and I stayed at this beautiful place and it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Views of the mountain were amazing and it was less than 10 min away from Hanalei which is such a cute town. We drove about an hour to do such activities as ziplining, tubing down the mountain, and did a Napali Coast sunset dinner cruise but we didn't mind. We cannot wait to come back! Every day of our trip was a great adventure! Thank you to the owners for such a memorable stay!

We really enjoyed this spacious, well appointed townhome located in a quiet neighborhood just a five minute drive to Foodland and 10 minutes to Hanalei Town. The owners made Life easy by providing beach chairs, a beach umbrella, cooler, life vests (for kayaking/canoeing the River), games, and more. The bedrooms have portable AC units which we used only once but would be a big plus on hot, humid nights during the summer. We loved daily visits from Bonkers, the resident outdoor kitty, who is super sweet and friendly, plus visits from a rooster and hen who frequent the area (note: there are lots of loud roosters all over Kauai.) Overall we had a very comfortable stay and highly recommend the home.

This condo was well appointed and had everything we needed to make our stay feel like a home away from home. It is in a great location between Princeville and Hanalei on the north side of Kauai. The property was great, it had everything we needed and the thoughtful touches Ema provided (chocolate macadamia nuts, wine and sparkly lemonade) were very appreciated. The house was also very kid friendly with lots of toys for them to play with in the house and on the beach. While the the location was fantastic (Hannalei is amazing), nothing was really walkable so it wasn’t as suitable for the 2 and 4-year old in our party. A fantastic property and location if you have kids over 5. We should have done a little more research about the area.

When traveling with teenagers it was terrific to have 3 bedrooms. Manager was helpful and check in/out was a breeze.

The house was ideal for us. I stayed there with my husband, 2 kids (10 and 12), and my mom. We all had enough room and the 2 bathrooms worked out great. We didn't go out a lot and had most meals at the house. The kitchen was equipped just like my kitchen at home which made cooking easy. We even had different sizes of cooler options to pack lunch for the beach.
The beach gear selection was outstanding. We used chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, towels, umbrellas, and coolers. No need to bring or rent anything. We found a hose outside to rinse everything off after each beach outing.
The location of the house is perfect. Within minutes you can drive to the Princeville shopping center (Foodland, ACE, coffeeshops, sandwich place, and other stores), or down to Hanalei Bay (more shops, restaurants, and the beach). We also walked to the "house beach" a few times. When you get down to the beach, just keep on walking at the beach to the right (underneath the beautiful trees) and you get to a nice little beach called "Pu'u Poa Beach". The Princeville Resort is currently closed for construction so you have the beach almost to yourself.
Overall a great place to stay. We were there for almost 2 weeks, so it did feel like home. The beds are super comfortable, and the AC unit took the edge off the heat, but we barely used them. The fans and cross breeze were sufficient enough.

Super cute townhouse complex with small sitting porch. Very comfy king bed. AC units in 2 out of 3 upstairs bedrooms. AC was needed so very nice to have it.:) Lots of extras like beach towels, board games, laundry, umbrellas, boggie boards, 2 snorkel gears with fins, beach chairs, cooler, seasoning rack. Coffee and tea.
Place is very well taken care of and host is very responsive and gives lots of great information and guidance for your stay.

No salt but full spice rack
No AC in double twin bedroom so could not sleep in that room some nights as it was too hot.
More and less firm pillows and blankets available in the closets.
Lots of shampoo, conditioner, bug spray, sunscreen and lotion left. Check cabinets in bathrooms and hallway closet.
The rooster alarm goes off about 15 min before sunrise and goes for about 2 hours ha ha YES its super loud but they are super cute!! It’s like that all over the island though so if you are a light sleeper maybe bring earplugs.
A super cute cat will come every day on the patio where the cat bed is. The cat food provided is for him. He stays outside.
You are close to neighbors as it’s a complex but everyone is super nice and quiet.
Fairly busy road behind the unit and no fenced yard or patio if you have young kids. My kids 8 and 11 loved the complex and had fun with the cat, chickens, geckos and lizards.
Tips
Nourish me is delish! Açaí bowls are so good!
Dolphin restaurant is amazing for dinner. The line starts at 4:30 to get a table. Fish market in the back is great for an appetizer while you wait. We loved the rainbow bowl. Ask for extra sauce.
Make reservations at the places you can.
Wishing well shaved ice is the best!
Jurassic falls helicopter ride was our best excursion! Ask to have isabell as your pilot.
Kauaui kayaks to the secret falls was so much fun! Ask for Alealani as your guide.
Visit the Hanalei farmers market and go check out @indigosuki02 stand. All her clothing is gorgeous!
Trilogy coffee is great and in same plaza as kauaui juice and metamorphosis yoga.
Bread company great for coffee too.
Poipu beach an hour before sunset is amazing for snorkeling. We swam with a sea turtle and so much different fish and sea life.
Limahulu gardens beautiful and fun to learn about history. A stream you can cool off in right on the left when you leave
Always stay respectful. This island is very much alive and will take great care of you if you let it :)

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay! The house has everything you could possibly need and Ema is incredibly helpful and accommodating. Our only “issue” was the upstairs bedroom with twin beds didn’t have an AC unit which was uncomfortable and could be too hot for some people. Ema did promptly respond to our request for a box fan which did help. Princeville is a beautiful area and I’m really glad we chose to stay on that side of the island. Mahalo Ema!

Nice, clean place. Worked relatively well and enough room for family of four. Nice that it is not in a super busy location. Is located in a condo complex, but not real busy, barely saw neighbors. We walk a lot, but the walk from the vrbo to the water is a bit longer than we anticipated (at least one mile). This should be clear in the description. Family of four should know the lanai is small and only seats 2 people. Also, the AC unit upstairs does not cool down the upstairs bedroom that does not have an ac unit. A box fan upstairs or additional ac unit would remedy that situation. These were relatively minor issues for us but worth noting. Overall we were quite happy with the place. The owner and maintenance manager are quite responsive and available.

Very nice condo. 2 story 3 bed 2 bath. Bedrooms are upstairs, full bathrooms on each floor.
From here we went into Hanalei and the rest of the island. The condo has beach chairs, beach towels, umbrellas and even small cooler to take when you spend a day on the beach. Heading into Princeville to get groceries is about 5 minutes away, not far from the Princeville airport. Hanalei Bay is about 10 minutes +/- away.
Overall, the condo is clean, has a washer/dryer and a full kitchen.

We loved our stay here! The house was a perfect base for us as we knew we would spend more of our time on the north shore. A great location for Princeville, Hanalei, Kilauea and an easy drive to Kapa'a and Lihue. Annini Beach became our favorite. We snorkeled with turtles each time we went! We really did not mind a longer drive for our several day trips to explore the Poipu and Waimea areas.
This home was immaculately cleaned and exceptionally well stocked from kitchen to beach gear. We appreciated the many thoughtful features and a welcome basket! Both the house/beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed the eclectic art and décor. There are the inevitable Kauai "alarm clocks" early each morning (roosters), but they are everywhere. Ema was a wonderful host, very responsive beforehand and during our stay. Thank you again Ema! We certainly hope to return to Kauai and this would be our first choice to return to.
Tip: Saenz Ohana and Nourish are just a short walk away for amazing breakfasts/wraps and bowls. The "secret beach" Ema will tell you about was also a lovely walk and explore and great to have close by. Best Hanalei breakfast was Hanalei Bread Company. We had 2 fabulous meals (and mai tais) at Tahiti Nui. Our favorite tour experiences were Waimea Downhill Bike Ride and Napali coast tour with Naplai Catamaran

Rest assured, this is a great place to rent on the North Shore of Kauai. The well stocked kitchen and beach equipment are worth the booking, not to mention the proximity to Hanalei, and Kilauea (where we found the best food!) It's in close proximity to other rental units, but we didn't have any problems with noisy neighbors, just the roosters! (Which are numerous throughout the island.) We followed the instructions to get to the Club Med Ruins, and played at that beach, and ate at Nourish many days. Thanks for the tip!

This townhome was very comfortable for six adults ranging from my wife & I to my 84 year old mother and my 21+ year old children. Three bedrooms upstairs easily accommodated the adult sleeping arrangements. Eat-in kitchen area and living room were plenty of room for eating & hanging out when all 6 were downstairs. Every pot, pan, utensil, plate & cup is provided if you want to cook, plus they left a nice fruit/goodie basket when we arrived. A/C only in the living room & two of the bedrooms but ceiling fans everywhere that keep the air cool & circulating. They say not to run all A/C at once or it might set off the circuit breakers but we ran all three without a problem until someone also used a hair dryer but the circuit switch is inside the unit and we learned our lesson after that. Lots of beach chairs, towels, boogie boards provided. Great location near Hanalei & the grocery store but you'll need a car to see everything in Kauai. Walking distance to Nourish Hanalei, a nice food stand with a great view of Hanalei Bay. For a group as large as ours, I would definitely recommend this home.

We had a great stay. Their was a welcome basket with wine, chocolates and other goodies. The host had considered everything to keep you comfortable( bug spray, sun tan lotion, beach toys, chairs, lots of towels and boogie boards- even a cooler for beach trips!) It was wonderful. A word of warning to those we go like a firm bed- all the beds are supper soft.

Best vacation ever! Our first time to Kauai - came with our 2 college aged kids- and we fell in love with the island! The duplex was ideal for us. As another reviewer noted, it's a perfect basecamp. Comfortable, clean, beautiful, full of amenities and ideal location. It felt like the owners wanted to do what all they could to make it a fun and comfortable stay for their guests. Mahalo Ema! Aside from the initial confusion about the entrance code, everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. Location was quiet and safe and convenient. Unit was beautiful and thoughtfully furnished and equipped. Kind and generous gift basket awaited our arrival. This trip could not have been better. This property was amazing and Ema (the owner) could not have been more flexible and easier to work with. We were nervous about the timing of our trip with the Delta surge of COVID but Ema took the stress away by telling us we could cancel without cost up to the day of if it was due to COVID. The house was beautiful, comfortable, clean, well stocked and conveniently located. Ema also gave us some tips and routes (known generally to locals) that were great to know. We also had our return flight canceled and had to stay an extra day (I know…just awful;). Again, Ema was extremely flexible and understanding and worked with us to make it painless. The house was very kid friendly with everything you could want to take to the beach; including towels, coolers, boogie boards, chairs, snorkel gear, etc. We can’t say enough good things about this house and the host. Highly recommend!!

This lovely home is exactly as described and Ema couldn't be more accommodating and pleasant to work with. I initially booked this property pre-COVID and had to push back our plans on multiple occasions waiting on things to settle down and open back up. She graciously accommodated us each time. The home was clean, well-stocked with all the essentials and included a lovely welcome basket of goodies. The location is great for staying on the north shore. The only thing to be aware of is that if you're traveling in the hot months, all of the bedrooms are upstairs. Ema has provided 3 A/C units; one downstairs and two up but, the bedroom without one is not very comfortable for sleeping in August. My daughter bunked with me. Of course, we come from a very dry climate and the humidity was a big factor for us. It might be perfectly comfortable for someone from the south, for instance. All that aside, we loved the house, the location and working with Ema and would stay here again if/when we get to return one day. Aloha!

This place is so incredibly comfortable and designed with care. It's stocked with everything you might need, including beach towels, snorkels, boogie boards, etc. When we decided to make our own poke bowls, the rice cooker was waiting for us. When we thought about taking a picnic to the beach, we saw the perfectly sized cooler by the door. The owners have so thoughtfully arranged an experience for their guests! There was a welcome basked with condiments, some snacks and some drinks which magically hit every one of our needs. We especially loved the macademia nuts and Hawaiian chocolates. The owner was also amazing with communication - gave us lots of tips on places to go and things to do. So helpful! We especially loved the walk under mango trees, passing adorable food trucks with perfect acai bowls and a gorgeous view, down to a small hidden beach--one of our favorites. Great location in between Princeville and Hanalei. We really loved and appreciated our stay here!

This house has a lot of wonderful little touches! The decorations are very nice and beachy, there were plenty of bath towels, wash cloths, beach towels, 2 boogie boards and chairs, extra sunscreen, bug spray, detergent, and some great starters in the kitchen (enough coffee for a week, an extra toothbrush, some fruit and local foods).
The beds were all extremely comfortable with fine linens and plenty of pillows. The kitchen was very well stocked and there was plenty of seating in the living and dining rooms. I also loved the keypad lock on the door, it made coming and going so so easy.
When we arrived there were instructions about limited use of the air conditioning units but there were 2 units not there (in one bedroom and downstairs). The property manager did have a unit installed in the living room during our stay, although the downstairs did stay pretty comfortable. The third bedroom without AC could get pretty warm even with all the other doors open upstairs, luckily my 11 year old wasn’t bothered by it (I would’ve been). I did appreciate Ema having the unit installed downstairs.
Overall this was a wonderful property and we would stay here again. *Please note if you come in the next few months that you should check the Hanalei landslide road schedule. There was a landslide at the end of the road and entrance into the Hanalei side of town is only open at certain times. It would’ve been good to have a heads up in this and to leave us the detour directions through the golf course.

Fabulous location between Hanalei and Kapaa. Everything you could possibly need in the house from cooking supplies to beach supplies and everything in between. Ema was wonderful and quickly responded when we had questions. We would go back there in a heartbeat!!! The house was truly beautiful.

This home was very clean, orderly and well stocked with everything we needed (towels, beach towels, lotions, shampoos, sunblock, games for kids, boogie boards, beach accessories, every kitchen appliance imaginable). When we arrived there was a large and very generous gift basket to greet us! The home is nestled in a quiet and private area of town and very conveniently located near all the shops, restaurants, grocery stores, Scenic hikes, chocolate and exotic fruit farms, and walking distance from a beautiful tropical beach with a spectacular view of the tall mountains. The best beaches of the island are only a few minutes scenic drive up the road. The home manager was very responsive and accessible. Highly recommend this beautiful place to any family needing to get away from everything to enjoy themselves and enjoy their time together. This is also a great place to stay for surfers. The beach is not far and the waves are perfect for most people who want to have fun.

We had a fantastic time at the Rainbow House! The house is in a great location. We loved being so close to Hanalei, and being able to walk to a beautiful beach and the market, shops and restaurants of Princeville Center. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a beautiful and generous welcome basket from our host, as well as by several roosters, geckos and other interesting creatures. The house is well-appointed and thoughtfully equipped with beach gear, hanging racks for wet clothing, kitchen tools, etc. We enjoyed incredible rainbows during the day and glowing stars at night. The host is extremely responsive, courteous and helpful. We cannot wait to return!

I highly recommend this house in Princeville! Upon our arrival the host had a welcome basket waiting for us with treats, a hand written note, and wine. The house is very nice and comfortably accommodated 6 adults. Ema was an incredible host. She had a ton of recommendations and answered all of my questions in length. She also had a notebook at the house that detailed restaurants, beaches, how to avoid traffic, etc. The house comes with beach towels, some beach mats, a couple boogie boards which we used every day. The washer and dryer was wonderful for washing towels. Since it was summer the a/c units were SO nice to use to cool down our bedrooms at night to sleep comfortably. The location is also great! Close to restaurants and the grocery store. You can walk to the beach or it's only a few minutes drive to the best beaches on the island. We couldn't have rented a better place. HIGHLY recommend!!!

The accommodation was well presented, impeccably clean and in a quiet and convenient location. We had everything we needed to prepare our own meals, enjoy our time out and about at the beautiful beaches and had all the comforts that made it feel like home. Ema was always very responsive and provided us with fantastic service, before, during and after our stay. We hope to be back someday...

The Schultz family were very accommodating when we stayed in their home in July. It's clean, well furnished with everything you will need to enjoy Kauai. We loved the closeness to the beach, just a short walk at the end of the road, and closeness to Hanalei ( which is adorable). Princeville is clean quiet and perfect for relaxing. We loved our welcome basket and goodies, and could not have been happier! We also were happy there were AC units for upstairs since it got very hot. You will love this place. We are already talking about going again. Have fun!

I stayed at Ema and Shen's place in Princeville for 10 days, and had a wonderful time there. It's situated right in between Hanelei town and its beach and the Princeville area. Ema and Shen were amazing hosts, their place was super clean and furnished with everything one would need and more, and they were always responsive and attentive, and made me feel totally at home. Great hosts and great place.
