The Beachcomber bungalow is a tropical island style lodging... off on a dirt road, not on the main hwy, less than a minute walk to the beach. It is ideal for honeymooners, but also perfect for a family.
If your looking for a quiet, private and peaceful place to stay on your vacation, this may be the place for you. The Beachcomber Bungalow is an open and airy comfortable beach house, with wood and tile floors, high open beam ceilings and skylights in almost every room. It is tucked away in Haena, off the main road in a safe and quiet area, just steps from the beach. You will be lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the ocean. The white sandy beach out front has epic snorkeling and swimming (seasonal). The beach is great for long or short walks. It is less than a mile from Tunnels beach.
It is located just west of Kepuhi Point in Haena on the north shore of Kauai. You are a ten minute drive from the sleepy town of Hanalei, where you will find an abundance of restaurants and stores to fill all your shopping needs. Just three minutes in the other direction leads you along some of the most scenic, snorkeling beaches to the end of the road, the gateway to the spectacular Na Pali Coast and hiking trail.
This beach house can accommodate people that need wheelchair accessIbility. This house in on the ground, not up on stilts. There is a ramp to the front door, and a roll in shower in both the bathrooms. The whole house is not completely wheelchair accessible, the other bedrooms have a few steps up into them. But there is a nice open layout throughout the house on wood or tile floors for easy getting around whether you're in a wheelchair or not.
There is a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size bed in the other 2 bedrooms. This house has been lovingly cared for and has beautiful hand made Hawaiian hardwood kitchen counters. The kitchen has an open and easy design for cooking meals and has all the amenities to accommodate cooking for a family.
There is a nice dining area off the kitchen where you can eat your meals. There are woven bamboo panels and polished black bamboo accents on many of the walls in the house.

The address is 7183 Alealea Rd. Please note that this house is near the ocean and is considered the tsunami evacuation zone. Information on evacuation procedures is located in the information folder on the kitchen counter in the house. Evacuation procedures are: Go right out the driveway, turn R on OneOne rd. Turn left onto Kuhio Hwy. Stay on this road all the way to Princeville, which is considered high ground.

Overall a very enjoyable stay! We loved the location with easy access to beautiful beaches and a short drive to Hanalei town. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking all week, and we were so appreciative of all the towels and beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, children’s beach toys). The beds were all very comfortable and everyone in our group slept well. I’m giving the house four stars and not five as some items could be more dialed in when considering the cost of our stay. One of the bathrooms has been updated, but the en-suite bathroom is very dated and could stand a refresh. But, nothing glaringly wrong, and we had a wonderful time on our vacation.

Our stay in Kauai couldn’t have been more amazing. Thank you to Acacia for providing such a beautiful well loved home for us to stay in during our trip. It was clearly built with love and Aloha. Quick walk to the most peaceful beach. Especially beautiful at sunrise. Chairs and coolers provided were a nice touch. During our stay a light went out, Acacia had it fixed within an hour. I would stay again.

Neat little house but also quite spacious. Steps from uncrowded beach makes it worthwhile, but...I implore the owners or manager to get new bed linens---the old, faded and stained cotton sheets were from the 1990s it appeared from the print style. The bedspreads were gross. I gave up on the master bedroom as the bathroom was dark and kind of grungy with a really old mirror and the sliding glass door to the deck was almost impossible to open. The whole place needs a deep, thorough cleaning---corners, lampshades, windowsills, etc. Many windows did not function---not because they're old, necessarily, as stated in the property info book, but because they are not serviced and maintained with lubricants and grease on the mechanical hardware. I live near the beach in a 50+ year-old house and know the ocean air is corrosive, so maintenance is essential. All that being said, I'm still glad I rented this place. The kitchen is great and well-appointed and the proximity to that mellow private beach was worth it all! Really, a great place that could REALLY use some updated bedding and thorough cleaning and maintenance, then it would be perfect!

We are 2 couples in our 70’s. The house is cute, roomy and interesting. Lots of old wood finishes. There are 3 roomy bedrooms. The living room is spacious and comfortable. The beach is an easy 2 minute walk from the house. the neighbourhood is quite and well landscaped. I found the repeated instructions to be very quiet for the neighbours to be a little off-putting. The beach is lovely and near-by Tunnels beach is awe inspiring, I wanted to snorkel but winter had arrived by mid-October and that was really not an option. We saw several monk seals, so I guess that makes up for it.

This was a really nice place to stay for a week. We stayed in the master bedroom and our bed was super. We really enjoyed our stay. Our friends liked their accommodations in the guest rooms as well. The kitchen had all that we needed and the bathrooms were great and easily accessible if you needed that. The house is big so it gives a spacious feel. The living room is come for table and cozy. It’s also important for folks to remember that this side of the island is a jungle, geckos sing to you at night, it rains intermittently or torrentially, the roads are always under construction, the neighborhood is quiet so folks voices or coughs can be heard, you will be warm during the day due to the beautiful light filling skylights and there is no air conditioning. The fans are great and the house is built for the trades (wind). Beach access is awesome! Sunrises are beautiful, the owners were kind and got us in early, the home was clean and we all slept great. Aloha.

Great stay, clean and comfortable. Could do with a better gate and house signage on the gate/road. Thought the place was wonderful. Mahalo!

MY wife and I had a nice relaxing time at this property. Quiet neighborhood. Everything was as described, and host was communicative and answered all of the questions we had before. Would recommend a stay here for a quiet relaxing time.

This house was tranquil, comfortable, and wonderfully close to a beach. We loved our stay, didn't want to leave, and would definitely come back!

The house was beautiful and well taken care of. You had to cross the road to get to the beach. The fans were a must for me as it was warm during the day. There was a good coffee shop within walking distance that we enjoyed. It felt very authentic Hawaiian.

We loved staying on the north shore and the place was just as described. We loved that they had coolers, lawn chairs and umbrellas for us to use.

We loved the week we stayed here. The house was perfect for us and our two teenagers - plenty of space to spread out. We loved the quiet neighborhood and the proximity to the beach for sunrises and sunsets. It was so easy to get to Tunnels Beach, Haena Beach and into Hanalei. We would definitely return!

We spent 6 nights at this lovely home. While we were busy on adventures during the day, we appreciated coming back to this comfortable home each evening. With the windows open and the fans helping when needed, we felt comfortable during our stay. The kitchen is organized and well-equipped. The three bedrooms gave us all our own space to unpack and settle in. Beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, coolers and beach toys were much appreciated. Communication with the owners was great. They provided timely information about access to Ha’ena Beach which we could have easily missed. The carvings in this home are beautiful and contributed to our authentic Hawaiian experience! Hope to come back to Kauai again and would not hesitate to stay in this home for our return trip!

Extremely close to the beach for a morning swim and evening sunset. A 3 minute walk to Opakapaka bar and grill. The house is in a great location. A short walk to Tunnels. We had a great time.

When we first saw this posting we were floored by how beautiful and spacious this house looked, which it was. But once we started living in it we noticed things that made us question why it was priced so high. There was mold in the water filter. Mold in the shower. Mold in the washer. Mold and rust on kitchen appliances. Cobwebs on dining chairs, couches. Holes on window screens so flies were getting in. Bed/bedding was not the cleanest. At the end of the trip, we didn’t feel comfortable that we spent this much for this stay. The house was thoughtfully designed and we appreciated the beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, and other necessities. Communication was good, and location was great. If they spent more time upgrading the house and investing on dehumidifiers to minimize molding (considering it’s on North Shore), price point would be reasonable. Otherwise, the price should be reevaluated.

June 2023
Although we only got to enjoy this beautiful and secluded home for a single night prior to beginning our journey on the Kalalau trail (with the house located a short ~2 miles from the trailhead), this home was exactly as advertised and even more beautiful in person, feeling extremely private and located in a lovely rainforest environment, we slept to the sound of rain throughout the night and stayed nice and cool while we slept using the ceiling fans and open windows. 10/10 would recommend to someone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax in a serene home.

The location of our rental was great! We enjoyed the semi private beach area that was great for snorkeling and just taking in the calm. I must admit that the lack of air conditioning takes some getting used to but the fans were helpful. The neighborhood felt safe and was quiet. The home is very well laid out but needs a few easy updates. We loved our stay and hope to return!

My wife and I just stayed here for a week and really enjoyed this house. It had everything we needed. It is in a beautiful location very close to our favorite north shore beach "Tunnels". It was true aloha feeling staying in this house ! Acacia was very quick to respond to any questions throughout the whole booking process and gave us great information to help us with our stay. She even replaced our beach umbrella within hours after I notified her the one at the house was not useable. Excellent service and communication. The house is truly a Hawaiian feel with beautiful Hawaiian wood carvings all throughout the house and the kitchen counters. Just an excellent location to enjoy all the gorgeous beaches on the north shore. Highly recommended !!!

April 2023
We were very comfortable at Acacia's bungalow and loved the close by access to Kepuhi Beach which was our favorite snorkeling location. Haena and Tunnels Beaches are 1.5 miles away via beach or road, so also very accessible. The bungalow has a great layout for two couples, or a couple with small children - very safe neighborhood. Cooking was a pleasure in the well-equipped kitchen with everything you'd need including some basic cooking oils/seasonings. Good assortment of knives, although not terribly sharp. Beds were reasonably comfortable, but bedding/towels are due for replacement. Beach equipment is also near the end of its life, but workable. Patio/lanai furnishings are basic, and mosquitos are problematic unless there's a breeze. We saw lizards on the lanai and a few inside, but they kept to themselves. We had two rainy days out of eight days -- it was mostly sunny and warm. The house heated up during the day, but ceiling and floor fans were adequate to keep the air moving and us comfortable, particularly in the back primary bedroom. We thought the lighting could be better - perhaps upgrade the bulbs and/or fixtures to a higher wattage? Communication with Acacia was excellent throughout the process from first inquiry until we checked out. I'd like to stay here again with our adult children and their spouses, but there is a strict maximum of five guests, unfortunately.

The property manager was so nice and gave us so much information about the location and the house and the island. This house has so many windows. It makes you feel like you’re in a jungle when you look outside the plants and trees around the house are beautiful. It was a two minute walk to the beach it almost felt like it was your own private beach. The water was shallow clear and amazing. There’s also a little restaurant around the corner in case you get hungry or if you wanted to have a drink.

April 2023
We absolutely loved this house for our first time in Kauai. The rooms were spacious and clean and the property manager Acacia shared a wealth of information before, during and at the end of our trip. She even sent a helpful text message the morning that we left, to let us know about upcoming storms and how we should proceed to get to the airport safely. The kitchen was plenty big with everything you need for cooking and dining; including your basic spices and oil. There was also a bag of beach toys, a couple chairs, and a boogie board at the house. The beach is a couple minute walk away and, it's just as pretty as any beaches we visiting in Hanalei. It was great for snorkeling and watching the sun come up. I really don't have anything to complain about on this property. We would be happy to stay there again, anytime.

March 2023
My boyfriend and I took his mother, sister and brother-in-law to Kauai for the first time. We wanted a quiet location to enjoy all the lushness of the island. The Beachcomber Bungalow was the perfect spot - tranquil, quaint, and beach access about as close as you can get without being located directly on the beach. We had to spend a lot of time in the car to get to activities on the south and east side of the island, but we were prepared for that. We loved the proximity to Ha'ena State Park, Tunnels Beach, the Opakaka restaurant and coffee shop next door, the market a mile down the road, and the short drive to Hanalei. The owners were responsive and helpful - they provided tons of info about the area, tips and clear instructions. We couldn't have asked for more!

Our overall impression of our stay here was positive. The place and location was remote, rustic, and had a very nostalgic Hawaiian feel to it. The almost private beach a short walk away was the outstanding feature.

Great place to stay and relax.

February 2023
It was a quiet and relaxing property in a very lush location with a short walk to the beach. Communication with the owner was very responsive regarding concerns after a big thunder and lightning storm closed the roads to our bungalow for a few hours about 2 days into our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

This is a beautiful property tucked away along the north shore. We loved the location and the proximity to beaches with gorgeous views of the mountains and wildlife all around. We all loved it and highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of this part of Kaua'i.

This property was perfect for a quite location on the North Coast, great beach 2 mins from the front door for snorkeling and watching the ocean. Close enough to everything you need, yet far enough away that it is quite and peaceful.

November 2022
Acacia had so much useful information from ear plugs in case of noisy roosters to park passes and expectations of locals, I felt very comfortable and safe knowing what to expect. I really appreciated her thoughtfulness. The bungalow was perfect. Just what I expected and so comfortable for my family. I would recommend it to all I know going on Vacation to Kauai!

October 2022
Nice property with a Hawaii vibe and a great outdoor space. This is a beautiful location with beach access footsteps away. We had beach chairs, an umbrella and 4 beach towels provided. We cooked almost all our meals at the property. The kitchen was stocked with enough basic items to get by (fridge, stove, coffee maker, toaster over and basic kitchen pans and dishes. The charcoal BBQ was also nice to have. If you plan on cooking much I would recommend stopping at Costco near the airport due to food costs being high at stores close by. You also need to bring refillable water bottles because none of the local stores sell cases of water. The beds where comfortable and so was the living room couch. The drive in is full of one lane bridges and it does take a while to drive around. If you are coming to relax this is a great location to stay. If you plan on doing lots of excursions and driving around the island this may not be the best location for you. For a long trip with lots of cooking I would recommend picking up a big nonstick frying pan and some extra paper towels and toilet paper. We did rent bikes but ended up feeling the main road was busier than we felt safe riding on, so we didn’t use them. Overall we where very happy with the house and the local beach.

October 2022
The property owner was very easy to communicate with, and the property itself was well represented. We are a family of 5 (with a 12, 15 and 17 year old) and stayed in this Bungalow for 6 nights. The location was perfect. It’s minutes from Tunnels beach, a 15 minute drive to Hanalei Bay or a short walk to a very private beach that is absolutely gorgeous. Upon arriving, there were beach chairs, coolers and beach umbrellas lined up along the side of the house. We used them everyday and were grateful to have them! Ha’ena is a beautiful community and one of the prettiest places I’ve ever visited. So happy to have had such a comfortable stay.

I need to go look at the listing description, but I don’t remember it saying this lovely property was so hot from 10am to sunset. The house is not insulated and has sky lights throughout. In the afternoon, the heat was stifling. Maybe some covers for the skylights or swamp coolers. The back bedroom was comfortable becuz it’s hidden under foliage and the back deck was cool. If you’re young and active and out having fun during the day, no problem. Other than the heat, it’s a great property. 2 min walk to the beach and lots of swimming spots up north. Hanalei and P’ville were 15 min down the road for dinners. Plan to fix your own breakfasts and bring coffee unless you want to drive early in the morning. Clean, quiet, beautiful property.

October 2022
We loved staying at Acacia and Keith's beach bungalow. It felt like a true getaway nestled amongst some of the most stunning landscape in Kauai. The location was great, close to Haena state park and some very beautiful local beaches. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed for our trip. I'd definitely prefer a stay here over a resort. We'd love to come back.

September 2022
The house is so interesting and unique! The location is great for exploring the north and east side of the island. Being within just a few minutes walk to a beach was a huge bonus! The house and backyard are very private and quiet. It is an open air property so there is no AC - the master bedroom and dining area stay surprising cool during the day and are quite comfortable at night! The other two bedrooms as well as living room got quite warm during the day; however temperatures were higher than normal during our stay (upper 80’s every day) and they have several portable fans to help move air around the house. The kitchen was large but the knives were very old and beat up. The beach equipment was also not in good shape and several pieces were on their last legs. We were surprised by the geckos that make their way into the house but learned to love them and find them funny! Overall it was a lovely stay and we were sad to leave!

Natalie S.
September 2022
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean. The beach that is steps away is by far the best snorkeling beach on Kauai. We found ourselves driving back to the north shore to visit the beach after we moved down to Kapa’a for our final 7 nights on the island. The lack of AC took a little getting used to, but there were plenty of fans to use to cool off. The Milky Way was fully visible from the property. If you’re looking for somewhere on the quiet north shore, THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE.

Having previously done the "resort thing" on Kauai, my girlfriend and I decided to give VRBO a shot. After 2 years without travel, and a desire for a nice quiet beach vacation, we stumbled upon this listing and immediately knew we had found our choice. Nestled amongst a VERY quiet residential neighborhood, and just steps from the beach, this property delivered big on tranquility and relaxation. Acacia and Keith were wonderful hosts from start to finish, from making sure the property matched our needs, to walking us through the check in and out procedures, and making sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The bungalow is literally two miles from the end of Kuhio Highway, near Ha'ena State Park. While it lacks air conditioning, we never missed it, and the soothing trade winds and ample windows made for pleasant sleeping. If you are a high-octane family who needs to see everything on the island, this isn't the property for you. If you are like us, who seek relaxation, hiking, biking, the beach, and short jaunts into nearby Hanalei, don't hesitate to stay here! Thank you, Acacia and Keith, this was the perfect rental for us!

August 2022
We had a really special week on the North Shore in this house. We followed Acacia's recommendation and rented bikes for the week which were delivered to the house before we got there and rode to Tunnels every day. The best things about this house is the location - really close to the beach and it is nice and clean. It's been updated with new floors and fixtures and the kitchen is in good shape. It's also off the main road which is great. It would be an amazing house for anyone with mobility impairment as it is one level (two bedrooms with steps) but master on level with open access shower. The bedrooms are spread out from one another, which would be great for couples traveling together. A little less great for small kids but worked fine for us. With houses on both sides and back from the road, it doesn't have a view. And it is quite warm during the day. Does not have many games or such for kids - but who needs that when you are so close to the beach?

August 2022
We enjoyed our stay at this nice property. It is well priced and perfect for a family of 4. We discovered some very nice snorkeling right around the corner (although it is often windy but worthwhile). The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is quite nice. The house did get a little warm during the late afternoons but cooled off nicely by morning. We'd recommend this house for others.

July 2022
Exceeded expectations, unique beach bungalow with lots of charm. Open and breezy. No AC in July, we were concerned, but it was no problem with the provided fans. Very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

July 2022
We loved our stay here. The beach is a short minute and a half away. Very few people on this stretch of Wainiha beach. Tunnels beach isn't too far away but you should walk down to the end of Alealea road to the YMCA property where there is a beach access and then walk North to Tunnels Beach. The house itself looks small when you first pull up to the driveway but is actually nicely sized with all the rooms separated out to the ends of the house. The kitchen and living room separate the rooms. The Geckos where wonderful companions and the crickets at night were very relaxing. The ocassional shower was also very pleasant. The house does not have Air conditioning but the onshore breeze tends to keep temps moderated. Just open all the windows and doors and let the breeze in! Check in and out were easy and Acacia was helpful when we needed her. The power went out the first night/day but beyond that, everything was great.

July 2022
Our young family enjoyed staying at these sweet property in Haena. It's walking distance to the beach (although not a swimming beach due to onshore reef) and away from the hustle & bustle. Only note to share is that while there are plenty of fans to keep the house cool during the humid summer months, there is no A/C. Thanks for having us, Acacia!

April 2022
The house was definitely Hawaiian. If there were more than just the 2 of us, the layout with 3 very separate bedrooms was good. It rained several days, including one day where we were the last car through before the road closed. It did reopen and we were able to get out by the next day. Definitely bring a rain jacket. We watched Netflix. Also if it is raining close the windows right away, because most don’t close from the inside. We were there March 18-26-2022. Locals were very happy it rained they said “they needed it”. The northern part of the island is very lush. Make reservations early! because most places required them. We were able to do most things but I wish I had reserved events earlier. The beach was close and intimate most beach “stuff” was right at the door. I would also bring slippers as you are expected to take your shoes off, because of the sand and the floor finish. We are laid back not much on night life. We enjoyed our stay . Lisa and Dave

March 2022
Great house just outside of Hanalei shops about 10 min drive. It was quite and relaxing. Nicely decorated and easy to find. We did takeout most days from Hanalei (several quick and easy takeout options and good was great) but kitchen was well stocked if we had decided to cook at home. Found out the day we took bus to park that we could have arranged to be picked up at inn just down the road which would have been nice, but it was easy to park near town at the designated lot. We had a great time surfing, hiking and hanging out at beach.

March 2022
Our stay was very relaxing and comfortable. Excellent location to beach. Acacia very attentive to any request. Aloha, Ed

This house was the perfect spot for our family during our adventures in Kauai. We loved the short walk to the beach and the house was well stocked for a week long stay in paradise. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood and was fabulous for our party of 3 adults. We used it as a base to explore the north shore of Kauai and had a wonderful time. The home is well equipped with many amenities (beach chairs!) that made our vacation spectacular.

January 2022
The bungalow is 2 mins from the beach and while there are lots of other homes nearby you would never know it. The place is well appointed for what you’ll need and well laid out with some rad touches like the skylights, high ceilings and some tasteful hawaiian vibe art / objects. Plenty of beach chairs, towels etc… and an outdoor shower. The ride into town is enough to wonder why you don’t live there. Thx Acacia and Keith, can’t wait to go back.

December 2021
Awesome little place nestled in a quiet community on the north shore. Very quiet nights… except for rush of the ocean waves, but that’s a PLUS. Super clean bungalow… all the amenities you’d need… wifi was very reliable and fast. Definitely do not overbook your activities on Kaua’i as you are going to want to take a few Holo days on the nearby beach. DO jump over to the Opakapaka Grill for at least one dinner and/or Happy Hour (good Mai Tais). Property manager was very quick to reply during the booking process(es) for us. We didn’t have any issues with the house, so didn’t need to contact anyone during stay, but from the guest book, they were fast to reply if needed. 100% recommend!!

October 2021
Quaint older cottage with lots of personality and character. Front door was hand carved on front and back in a koa wood design, Kitchen counters also had the unique design in Koa wood. Plenty of room and privacy for the four of us. We used the third bedroom for storage. Fans and open windows provided plenty of crosswinds. Location was one block from highway and one block from beach. A restaurant very close to us was great for dinner. We were there 15 days and ate at the restaurant twice. We had a light bulb that needed to be replaced over dining room table and an issue with the Internet modem. Both problems were dealt with promptly. We stayed in the area most of the time only leaving the Hanalei area three times in 15 days. Our major activity was walking on beaches. Road construction caused serious road delays. When we left on October 15 it took us 2 and a 1/2 hours to travel to the airport.

We love this area of Wainiha and were happy to find a three bedroom home to fit our needs. The beach is such a short walk and all the locals we met were friendly. They provided plenty of beach chairs and towels to spend the day and a close walk back for snacks or drinks. The couch was very comfortable for the evening to enjoy family time. Neighborhood was quiet and just what we were looking for. Management was always fast responding to any questions. Only items I wish they had was a rice cooker in the kitchen and upgrade the pillows to memory foam. Beds were comfortable and we had an amazing vacation. Mahalo

Had an amazing stay in Haena. Close proximity to really nice beach, quiet neighborhood and very close to Hanalei. Vacation Bungalow had everything we needed for our stay. Nice layout for traveling with others- rooms offered a lot of privacy. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Everything a family needs for a memorable stay. Quick walk to beach for snorkeling and to great coffee shop nearby. Great for early risers to see sunrise and for those looking for quiet at night.

This property is in a prime location - walking distance to amazing snorkeling, the Haena State Park and one of the best restaurants on Kauai.

The difficult truth is that this home is one of the lower priced homes next to the beach, and yet it has issues. I don't like to say it is a good value because it is very expensive--but it is less than other homes. There are trade-offs to get the lower price. As to the good: It really is a 1-minute walk to the beach. Beautiful sunsets. It is quaint, cute, attractive inside. It is well stocked, with nice furniture, a good TV, good internet, beach items, etc. The owner is extremely attentive and took great pains to communicate status and see if we needed anything, including as to the Hanalei landslide that restricted travel times. The deck on the back is lovely. You are minutes (driving) from the most amazing beaches I've ever seen--Tunnels, Ke'e, Hanalei, etc. And yet: The home has NO AIR CONDITIONING; there are many fans, but you are likely to be uncomfortable between about 1 pm and 7 pm. Screens do not quite fit and window cranks do not quite work so there are a few bugs and a few lizards inside; there is no dishwasher; we were warned that we must be very quiet in the evening because of a sensitive neighbor, yet the neighbor is loud during the day and has a very foul mouth if you have young kids around; the beautiful beach is really one minute away, but it is not suitable for swimming (way too rough). So overall, except for the AC issue, we loved the home and had a wonderful time here, but you have to balance the fact that rentals in this area are just super expensive and if you want to save a bit, you don't get as many nice features.

Everything was fantastic! Do not second guess yourself staying here. When we travel we like to live like the locals as much as possible. The Bungalow gave us the perfect place to immerse ourselves in the true aloha of the island. From Sunrise on the beach right down the street to sunset at Hanalei Bay, do not miss spending time on this part of the island. Do take time to see the other side though. Don't miss Waimea canyon and other sites! Also go tubing, 4-wheeling at Kipu Ranch and visit the farmers market in Hanapepe!) Don't miss out on surf lessons with Big Sean at Hawaiian Surfing adventures next to Tahiti Nui. Speaking of, we attended the Luau at Tahiti Nui for the second time and it was amazing! It is a small family luau that is very special to see! Be sure to get your reservations to Haena state park! It is worth it even if you aren't going to hike the trail. The snorkeling was great in the early morning. We saw Moray Eels, turtles, and many cool fish. We hiked to the lookout at the 1/2 mile point and loved seeing the views without having to go too far. Be careful on trail if it has been raining. The loaded fries at Chicken in a Barrel are great and so is the Pizza shop for quick food! Pink's has great ice cream and the Acai bowls at the fruit stand, in the parking lot, of the Big Save Market are the best! We did most of our food shopping at the Big Save and they were generally stocked. There are many places to pick up local fruits veggies and eggs too. I will miss falling asleep to the sound of the waves and the general feel of aloha found only in this part of Kauai! Cheers until we meet again! Mahalo

Pros: Walk to beautfiful beach, great hiking and snorkeling, perfectly stocked kitchen, beach towels and washer dryer. Booking was very easy and communication with manager was excellent. When one of the fans broke, it was immediately replaced with another. Cons: it was very hot and humid when we were there, so could use a few more strong fans (like the Vornado). After looking at other similar properties, this is pretty fairly priced.

We really enjoyed this rental house! The place is beautiful with wood and tile floors, as well as private and fully equipped. Some of the best sites on Kauai are within a 10 minute drive and a very short walk gets you to a nearby restaurant and a beach with good snorkeling. The property manager was great to work with. Highly recommend for families and groups of friends.

We had such a great time staying here. We had my 5 year old son with us and the beach was perfect for him. While we did not enjoy being woken up by the roosters, my son really enjoyed it. Ha. We got use to it by the end though. I've already recomended this spot to friends and family. We really had the best time.

We were in awe when we walked up the driveway and saw our very own tropical paradise! The interior of the house is decorated with Hawaiian flair and every aspect was extremely clean. It was the perfect cozy home we wanted after spending a week in hotels in Maui. I loved the beach and searching for shells. It was very easy to work with Acacia to book the rental too. We would definitely come back, but not in November, most days it rained on the north shore. Not a problem though, we just headed to the south shore and enjoyed the sunshine there! We loved the little town, Hanelei, with all of the shops and restaurants.

What an amazing bungalow! My husband and I stayed here for our first visit to Kauai. This was not our first choice. When we learned the house we wanted was booked we were given this as an alternative. It met all of our needs and more. The house was comfortable with all the accommodations we needed. The special "Hawaiian" décor made our stay even more special. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Would highly recommend this property.

While the drive from the airport is a little long, about an hour, it is worth it! The house is located in a quiet neighborhood. The walk to the beach is literally a couple minutes. You feel like you are in the middle of the jungle, awaking to the music of a symphony of birds chirping! The house comfortably accommodated 5 of us, with 3 large bedrooms and 2 baths. We stayed a week and wish it was a month! The WiFi allowed the young adults to stay connected to their friends back home. There is so much beauty and so much to do....hiking, kayaking, snorkeling. I would highly recommend this property.

The only reasons why I did not give this property a 5 star rating is because it does not have a dishwasher or temperature controls, which resulted in it getting hot inside during the afternoon hours. I think the price reflects this, though, as it appears to be a little less expensive than other properties with those amenities. Otherwise, it was great. A true Hawaiian feel and excellent location. Good separation of bedrooms and adequately supplied kitchen. Beach chairs, plenty of towels, and other beach supplies were appreciated. We definitely would return here and recommend it to others.
