Great, secluded location. Steps from a beautiful beach with great snorkeling. Outdoor deck / patio with seating for 6 was perfect. Great washer ans dryer - will definitely use a lot of you’re in and out of the water frequently. Views of ocean and mountains. A bit out of the way, which is both a plus and a negative depending on how you look at things.
The only real negative is the actual home is a bit outdated and not well ventilated in parts of the house.

What's not to love? A beach right on the property with lots of fish, a couple of green turtles and a monk seal on the last day!! This was a perfect place to celebrate my 94 year old father's last hurrah. We all loved it!

We loved this perfect location on the North Shore. We snorkled right out front of the house and saw many turtles, some rays and fish. Felt like we were on our own island. The house is clean, comfortable, private and has amazing views. Couldn't have asked for anything more! We hope to stay here again!

We loved our stay in this beautiful location and home. Everything was as described and even better. The house is well equipped with everything we needed. Loved the bikes and all the beach chairs. Enjoyed our sunrise walks on the beach and our morning coffee on the fabulous lanai. A perfect house for a relaxing Kauai getaway!

We've been coveting this house for a couple years now and finally got to stay in it! It's the best north shore rental we've stayed in yet. Our favorite snorkeling beach is in the backyard, the wraparound lanai puts others to shame, the view is gorgeous, the kitchen had every type of utensil and dish and gadget we needed (except steak knives), the spice cupboard is stocked, the decorating aesthetic is perfect, the washer and dryer were high-tech pleasures, and there were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, plus two boogie boards, two swim noodles, and even some bicycles. I loved looking through all the little dishes of sea shells around the house and the collection of old postcards in a box. There was a Bluetooth speaker to use, a medium-sized soft-sided cooler, and the propane grill works great!
Nice that everything stayed dry in this house (most beach houses have constantly damp bedding, furniture, etc)! However, that may be due to the lack of cross-breezes, meaning the wet air just wasn't making it into the house. It was uncomfortably warm inside every day, but we'd just go sit on the deck instead or directly in front of one of several electric fans. The master BR stayed cool enough for sleeping at night, with the aid of the ceiling fan. Didn't use the middle bedroom, but it was more private than I'd thought it would be. I knew you'd have to walk through it to get to the master bedroom, but it turns out there is also an outdoor route available.

Our stay in this home was wonderful. The views from the deck are stunning and the house is so comfortable. The proximity to Hanalei was great. Such a charming little town! You can walk all the way down to Tunnels Beach with other snorkeling opportunities in between. I can’t attest to the snorkeling behind the house as there was a brand new baby monk seal and the beach was closed. Super cool to see that as it is a rare happening.
The beds were all comfortable, even the sofa sleepers. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. Beach toys and boogie boards were nice to have as well. The kids enjoyed the Bocce Ball set quite a bit too!
The owner’s communication was quick and responsive, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a beautiful home and we would absolutely come back!

We had a fantastic week at this well-appointed and lovely house. Situated directly on the ocean every room features an incredible view of the water. Town was a quick trip away, enabling us to grab groceries at the store or farmer's market and prepare meals in the well stocked kitchen. Arriving and checking out were a breeze, and communication with the owner could not have been better. Already looking forward to returning!

Loved, loved, loved our stay here! Super clean and beautifully decorated. Quiet neighborhood. Well appointed kitchen which was perfect for us as we cooked most of our meals at home. Fantastic snorkeling right off the beach- so many fish and lobsters and turtles! We will absolutely stay here again next time we are in Kauai!

If location is key, this place has the keys to the kingdom.
The house: I was very close to booking a place 2 doors down that had more luxury interiors, and looked a bit newer, but I chose this house instead and was happy I did. It has a great beach feel, and a fully appointed kitchen. The deck was perfect and most evenings we were out there looking out at the. view and grilling dinners. The lawn is great and the kids played outside all day back and fourth to the beach. Snorkeling 200 feet from the house is great and the reef is in decent shape. If the owners replaced the floors to hardwood, and put in a new kitchen, they could charge double...I hope they don't!
The location: We stayed at the Hotel 1 for a couple nights before we landed here...getting to the house was a breath or fresh air. Perfect location. No elevators to the beach, no overpriced smoothies. The North Shore is awesome. Slow and mellow beach time with nice rainstorms in the afternoons. A+.

We enjoyed our stay here, the beach is practically the backyard with great snorkeling and calm waters. We saw turtles and a seal. The decor was modern and there were ample supplies. We didn’t want to leave! Location is also perfect for surfing nearby.

Loved every minute. Property felt private and serene. We spent most of our time cooking, reading, hiking, beach walks and soaking in the rain and sun. The house was super comfortable for the 2 of us and would be great for a small family as well. The 2 bedrooms are attached (walk thru one to get to the other) with doors to the outside as well. Kitchen fully stocked. A great week overall.

Kepuhi Kai was an amazing location for our Hawaiian getaway. From the very well-appointed kitchen to the incredibly cozy beds/bedding, my family was very happy, comfortable and truly blown away by this house. We took advantage of the snorkeling gear, beach towels, yoga mats and fun jigsaw puzzle provided by our wonderful hosts.
Beyond the house itself, we hardly saw my brother-in-law because he was busy enjoying the incredible snorkeling right on our beach. Many afternoons, my husband peacefully immersed himself in a book with his feet in the soothing beach sand. My sister-in-law and I enjoyed wandering in and out of the charming shops in nearby downtown Hanalei and took advantage of some of the wonderful local farmer's markets.
Kepuhi Kai was the perfect resting place after we exhausted ourselves on the Kalalau Trail and was a truly magical setting for us to all come together for delicious meals (with local fish, of course) and cocktails on the wrap-around lanai. The four of us were mesmerized by the epic waves and loved seeing other families, dogs and surfers regularly visit this special little beach.
I am sure we'll be back to Kauai and we'd be absolutely thrilled to stay at this house again!

We absolutely LOVED staying here! The house worked perfect for our family. Having the living room and wrap it lanai on the upper level provided views of all over. The beach was great for snorkel and swimming. And was RIGHT THERE! Quiet area. Super close to Tunnels Beach, which is a great plus. Naps in the hammock. Nicki and Dave were super nice and very quick to respond. We cannot wait to stay here again!!!

We came to play at the beach and snorkel a lot. We were a bit surprised to discover how nice the beach and snorkeling right in front of the house were. The coral is healthier than many other locations. There are some significant currents, so this might not be the best spot for beginners. But it's also a totally reasonable walk to the beach in front of the YMNCA (to the west) and a little further to Tunnels. Both of these are great beaches with easy snorkeling. Please use reef-safe sunscreen and no standing on the reef. I was surprised to talk to various snorkelers who didn't realize the "rocks" they were standing on were covered in live corals. Even the dead coral should be avoided because new coral recruits can start up there if left undisturbed. Lots of fish, many turtles, a few rays, and even a monk seal. And much more if you're a snorkel nerd (cool nudibranchs!) Oh yes, the house. Great kitchen, comfy beds, brilliant deck overlooking ocean, hot outdoor shower. Why am I telling you all this! Now we'll never manage to get another reservation :-)

This adorable cottage and it’s location are fantastic. The views from the house are stunning and having such a secluded beach make this a magical slice of paradise. We loved the history and charm of this beach cottage so much that we hardly explored the rest of the island and didn’t want to leave. Kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfy and all of the other amenities… snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels…and did I mention the view and beach?? Best communication I’ve ever had with a host! They are clearly in love with their home and enjoy sharing the experience with guests. We’ll be back to share the aloha spirit. Mahalo!

Amazing location , your own private beach pretty much. House equipped with everything you need . Everything works great. House is not new but very well kept and tastefully decorated. The fully remodeled master bath is a plus. The house worked perfectly for our family of 5. Lots of space . No AC but not needed at all at least during our stay end of March. Absolutely loved it! You are in a quite but gorgeous location 7 min drive from Hanalei where there are plenty of restaurants, shops, grocery store , etc.

Two couples had an absolutely wonderful stay at this house! It is even nicer than the photos. Compared to all the other houses in this neighborhood, this house has amazing privacy. It is set back from the beach by a wide front lawn but you can still see the ocean from the deck. The beach was great for walking and snorkeling. The area is a bit remote, but what you gain is uncrowded beaches and a beautiful rural character. The house was immaculate and very comfortable; great kitchen very well equipped. We loved the deck and spent most of our time there. (One thing to just be aware of is the two bedrooms adjoin; ie you have to walk through one to get to the other, or use the doors to outside that both rooms have.) We could not have had a better time! Thank you for sharing this very special home with us!

I cannot express in words how much I love this place. Nicki and Dave’s property is the perfect balance of privacy and community. The beach behind the house is quiet and empty most of the day with the occasional daytime beach dweller. Only during sunrise and sunset did we encounter a consistent small group of neighbors enjoying a cup of coffee, fishing from the shoreline or just taking in the colors the sky and sea happen to be painting that day.
We ventured out for a few day trips during our stay, only to realize upon returning to the house that we were already at our favorite place on the island. The kitchen was very well equipped, inspiring us to make almost every meal at the house. The farmers market and local fish market are a must for those who enjoy fresh local ingredients. The house was the perfect size for our family which included three children under 10, two grandparents and my wife and I. I can’t wait to go back!

Our family has had a trip planned to Kauai for a couple years that’s keeps getting pushed back because of Covid. The other VRBO we had scheduled canceled at the last minute and we were lucky enough to get this place. So glad we did. Amazing house in an amazing area. The home is older, but you can tell the owners really take care of it. Super quiet beach with really friendly neighbors. Can’t thank the hosts enough for allowing us to stay in their home. If you want a real north shore experience on Kauai this is the place

From the moment you step foot onto the property, you know you will be back. The property is beautiful, and the surrounding views are amazing. The property is clean and makes you feel at home. Wake up every morning and take the private path to the beach. It doesn't get much better than that :) The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Fantastic location! Great snorkeling right in front of the house and the perfect deck for hanging out. Kitchen had everything we needed and the beds/pillows were comfy. The house decor is beautiful. i didn't realize that the two bedrooms connected but it wasn't a problem-the couple with the master just went in and out the bottom deck door instead of cutting through the other bedroom. Lots of beach towels and accessories and the washer and dryer came in handy for after muddy hikes. Would definitely stay here again!

Our family of three stayed in this terrific property for a week and loved it. The view from the deck is fantastic, and the property feels very private, notwithstanding that there are other homes around it. The decor is nice and the home is very well "provisioned" with all the basics covered as well as all of the kitchen things you'd need plus some, and a really nice assortment of beach supplies. While the "walk through" to the second bedroom might be an issue for some, it was not for us. The hosts communicated proactively about the situation with the road closure and were quickly responsive to inquiries. All in all, a very special house in a fantastic location with beautiful beach options not only right out front, but within easy walking distance as well.

Nicki and Dave’s place is truly amazing. A perfect location right on a quiet beach. With a backdrop of incredible mountains full of waterfalls. The house itself is so conducive to relaxing . Very spacious, open kitchen and living room. Wrap-around porch where we spend most of our time. And super comfortable bedrooms. The entire house is extremely clean and well maintained. Beautiful decorative touches throughout. Can’t recommend this place enough! We hope to be back again.
