Exceeded our expectations! We enjoyed the cottage and surrounding gardens so much, we spent most of our time there. Great location with short walk to Tunnels Beach. Our host Toni gave us friendly and helpful information, making us feel very welcome. Best stay ever!

We stayed a week in the Tiki Hut and could’ve stayed forever. It’s a beautiful property I could go on and on about. Just know, its even better than the photos. The house was perfect size for my husband and I. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The two lanai’s are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the yard. The hot tub was great after hiking on the Kalalau. We saw Toni a few times during our stay but that was not a big deal to us. She was very kind and helpful when we needed her. We loved our visits from Sampson her lab/retriever mix. He’s a very good dog. It’s a short walk down the private road to the beach then you just walk to the left a bit to get to Tunnels and Haena beach. We love it on the north end of the island so this place is perfect for us. And the Cook Island pine trees that run the whole north side of the property feel like a big hug. We can’t wait to return!

My husband and I are beach and garden lovers. A wonderful mix to be able to walk to the beach and come back to our space in the middle of a lovely garden. Our host Toni was incredibly gracious. Mahalo!

The Tiki Hut sits in a stunningly beautiful and peaceful garden. A short walk to the beach. We went swimming there every day. Quiet and secluded location but a short drive into Hanalei.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lush gardens where the tiki hut is located. Tony was a outstanding host with a wealth of information to ensure that we had a perfect stay. The tiki hut was immaculately clean with fresh cut flowers from the garden. Well supplied for all your Beach needs and many basic necessities in the kitchen we're already there. The walk to the beach was an easy one and it opens up to the North end of tunnels Beach with some amazing views and some fantastic swimming. Thanks again Tony for our amazing time in the Tiki Hut

The Tiki Hut is a WONDERFUL place to enjoy the north end of Kauai. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. The cottage is perfect and the grounds are stunning. The host thought of every detail- making our trip carefree and full of "sweet touches and extras". My only regret is that we did not stay longer and only 5 stars are available! Huge benefit to guest- short walk to Tunnels beach- no hassel with crazy parking. Snorkeling and other beach gear available thanks to host- don't have to pack it. The beach is an AMAZING place to see fish, sunsets and to stargaze. In order to explore in Haena State Park- we took the shuttle and paid the $35 per person. It was WELL worth it. The views were incredible and worth the extra drive/money. Location is a short drive to restaurants, market and shops- so plan accordingly. Foodland in Princeville was a great stop on the way up. Also recommend Taste of Asia & Super Hero Sushi and Thai- food trucks. Cafe Tumeric and JoJo's shaved ice in Waipa. Local market Tues 2-5 great place to buy fresh tropical fruits for light breakfast, snacks for day trips and support the locals.

Alex and I loved staying here for our honeymoon. Toni was so friendly and having a dog around made us feel at home. The location cannot be beat and it truly is a little oasis where you can relax. We hope to be back in the future. Thank you so much toni!!!

This was the best VRBO ever!! Toni is amazing.., so sweet and welcoming. She makes you feel comfortable and right at home. The Tiki Hut is adorable and comfortable. She left welcome gifts and made sure we had everything we needed. The island and beach is just breath taking and there is so much to do if you want..and Toni made suggestions as to what we might want to try another time. I would recommend this to any couple who wants the perfect get away in the most wonderful spot in Hawaii!!

We had a lovely time at the Tiki Hut, which is equipped all all the basics, and then some. Toni and her side-kick Samson are wonderful hosts, and this is a very special spot.

Toni's Tiki Hut is absolute bliss. My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our visit. I am a gardener, so Toni's exquisite tropical garden is an absolute joy. The location is also perfect for exploring the lush North Shore mountains and gorgeous beaches. Toni's malama (loving care) makes the Tiki Hut a true paradise. We are looking forward to returning. Mahalo!

It was beautiful and peaceful and we had a difficult time deciding to leave during the day for other activities. Toni is an exceptional hostess. The bungalow had everything we needed or could ask for. Hot tub was fun. I’ve never stayed on Princeville side just Poipu but will definitely return.

We loved the location of this beautiful cottage, high up on the North Shore. We wanted a place where we could walk to Tunnels beach, and have privacy. This cottage delivered in spades! The gardens are beautiful, and our host Toni was amazing. We loved the private hot tub, the hammock, the two lanais, and the large yard. We loved having the goldador Samson visit us on the lanai, and it helped ease our homesickness for our three sweet pups. We cooked most of our meals there too. Get the fresh sushi rolls from the fish market in Hanalei, grab some beer, and ice cream, and enjoy!! We highly recommend this place.

Toni’s beautiful spot and aloha welcoming created a magical eight days for us in this incredibly beautiful part of the world. The Tiki Hut is well equipped with everything you need and more. Just walking distance to Tunnels Beach, Limahuli Gardens and a quick drive to myriad restaurants and places to explore, our time here was full and fun, Next time we’ll plan to stay longer. Thank you To I for making us feel at home here.

We booked our week long getaway on very short notice, we did not expect the breathtaking gardens and beautiful cottage to be as spectacular as it was! Toni and her dog Samson greeted us upon our arrival to show us the grounds and cottage- everything was perfect, the basket of goodies and a lovely bottle of wine just as the start to this amazing place. We will definitely visit again very soon! When we got back to B.C. we were completely relaxed. There is so much more to tell but you will need to find out yourself! Thank you Toni and Samson

We arrived on a late flight to Kauai and drove to Tiki Hut to find a welcoming note, fresh baked banana bread, and Kona coffee and treats provided for us. Toni is a terrific host; friendly & helpful. The “Hut” is really comfortable and well equipped. The large tropical garden is exceptional. The location is just what we were hoping for; quiet and less than a five minute walk down a private lane to one of the best beaches on Kauai. We can hardly wait to return.

Awesome place! We have been visiting Kauai and staying in different cottages/homes on the North Shore for 23 years. The Tiki Hut was by far the most beautiful place we have stayed. Every small detail was in place to ensure our comfort and enjoyment. The garden setting was gorgeous and perfect. Our host, Toni, was absolutely wonderful and her furry sidekick, Sampson (the official greeter), cheerfully visited us every morning to say hello. The location is outstanding, with an easy walk to Tunnels Beach. We would definitely stay at the Tiki Hut again and would highly recommend it.

A very short walk to the stunning Tunnels Beach on the North Shore of Kauai is just an added bonus to our week long stay at the Tiki House. Toni and her black lab Sampson have created a magical place. The beautiful grounds that surrounded the Tiki House look and feel like a botanical garden complete with the melody of song birds throughout the day. The two lanai’s of the house offer wonderful areas to sit and enjoy the visual beauty and sounds of nature. The Tiki House was perfect for my wife and I and we both look forward to our next stay there.

We can't say enough good things about our 8 night stay at the tiki hut. Much thought and love we're put into making this place a truly special retreat. The pictures in the listing actually don't do it justice, the place was even more beautiful in person. Toni and Sampson welcomed us with true aloha spirit and we were so sad when it was time to leave. We will definitely be back to visit!

You always hear, "that picture doesn't do it justice" but this place is EXACTLY that. The size of the garden makes it so you can stroll through different pathways and enjoy all the orchids at eye level on every tree... Then you can take a short walk to find some of the best shelling on the island. Take a left at the beach, and walk a very short distance to the best snorkeling on Kauai, Tunnels Beach. The house is as advertised, small with a tiny kitchen, but perfect for cooking. We had 5 out of 7 meals there, including BBQ'ing some Huli Huli chicken the last night. The worst part of this place is literally realizing you have to leave it eventually! Both lanai's have amazing views of the garden with the sound of birds, and even a hot tub. Amazing Aloha here. We couldn't have had a better 16th wedding anniversary...

November 2022
We loved our week at the Tiki Hut. A clean, cozy cottage with two outstanding lanais overlooking an amazing serene botanical garden back yard. Fantastic Tunnels beach a few minute walk, where we saw sea turtles, monk seals and more. Perfect location! Thank you Toni for a truly wonderful stay!

November 2022
The setting- a short walk to a beautiful scenic beach with a mountain backdrop was stunning. The Tiki Hut situated in a garden like was very homey and well appointed. Being on the North side of Kaui, it was very quiet and restful. Excellent way to spend our week on the garden isle.

When you sit on either of the Tiki Hut's two patios you view a beautiful and relaxing tropical garden where the birds provide their distinct songs. The cottage is behind a fence, off a dirt road leading a short way to the beach, so you feel removed from the rest of the neighborhood. Although small the kitchen provides the necessary pans, dishes and coffee maker needed for cooking your own meal. A very nice barbecue is off the porch so that you can keep the heat outside if it is extra warm, as it was when we were there. Toni and C.B. are available for any help you might need but they leave you alone so that you can enjoy the quiet of the garden. I would highly recommend the Tiki Hut to anyone staying on the north shore. It is a true Hawaiian experience.

September 2022
The Tiki Hut was so beautiful and comfortable. We spent lots of time on the two different lanais, looking in different directions at this huge, beautifully landscaped property. Kauai is paradise, and the Tiki Hut is Paradise Central. Fully equipped and provisioned (including Toni's yummy banana bread!), hot (warm) tub, snorkel equipment, etc. And just a short walk to Tunnels Beach. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer....but next time!

We booked this property in 2019 for our much anticipated honeymoon after our 2020 wedding. Obviously things needed to be canceled and rebooked but this was the most spectacular trip we've ever had. The sunsets on Tunnels are worth booking this listing alone! It's walkable to the beach, a short drive to Hanalei, luxurious, and the garden feels like Eden. Fabulous all around and so true to the listings description.

August 2022
We stayed at Tiki Hut for 9 nights while on Kauai. CB and Toni are wonderful hosts and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Trust me…. they have thought of everything!! We loved being so close to Tunnels Beach… and it was so pleasant and peaceful to be able to walk back to the cottage after a morning at the beach and enjoy our lunch in the beautiful (and private) gardens. We also loved getting to meet Samson! We have stayed at many VRBOs, but none even came close to being as nice as this one. Hoping that some day we can make a return visit!

This was our 4th visit with Toni & CB at the tiki hut. We have spent some of life’s most precious moments at this little hut - our honeymoon was spent here, we came here shortly after my father passed away, and this last trip was to celebrate our babymoon. And hopefully one day soon, bring our soon to be daughter to our favorite location. This place holds a very special place in our hearts and every year, it calls us back! Thank you guys for offering your beautiful property to the public, there is truly no other place like the tiki hut - from waking up to the vast number of singing birds, the beautiful garden, the most gorgeous beach a short walk away, and the most kindest hosts who go above and beyond for their guests. This place is truly the definition of magical. Thank you so much! Marina & Dwayne

We loved our stay in the Tiki Hut! It had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing week from an equipped kitchen, to an amazingly soft bed, to a hot tub under twinkling porch lights. We were blown away by the garden and enjoyed watching birds visit the feeder while we ate our breakfast and sipped coffee on either deck. CB and Toni are wonderful hosts who will stay out of your hair. Toni recommended an excellent fish market nearby and made sure we knew where to go on the beach to avoid drowning. Upon our arrival we found a bottle of champagne and two flutes tucked in the refrigerator which was a really nice touch. So thoughtful! The location is perfect for those who wish to be more off the beaten path. The beach is but a two minute walk down the dirt road and you're very close to the Napali Coast trail.

The Tiki Hut has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. It is fully equipped and carefully decorated in lovely Hawaiian style. The location is a 4 minute walk on a private path to a beautiful and sparsely populated beach. The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. We will definitely return for another stay.

My husband and I spent a week here celebrating our anniversary and we didn't want to leave. The house was darling; the perfect size for the two of us. Clean, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches like a welcome basket (homemade banana bread!), bottle of chilled wine in the fridge, citronella candles for evenings on the lanai, all the beach gear, and helpful guide books. The kitchen, although small, was fully stocked and had good quality cookware and sharp knives. The garden is stunning and we spent mornings and evenings on the lanais enjoying the view and the sound of the ocean in the distance. The jacuzzi was awesome, perfect way to relax the muscles after a hike. The location is amazing; short 5 minute walk to Tunnels Beach and you're just a 20 minute drive into Hanalei. Toni, CB, and Samson were the perfect hosts and we hope to come back again!

February 2022
My wife and I stayed at the Tiki Hut for around 10 days. It was the perfect location for our elopement ceremony at Tunnels (Haena Beach). The hut was very private with a mature 1-2 acre garden all around it. We could walk down to the beach on a private gravel road in about 2 minutes. You're in rural Hawaii with a short drive to Hanalei, best of both worlds! I highly recommend staying in this gem. It made the trip that much better. We hope to return again soon.

Our stay at TiKi Hut was wonderful. C.B. And Toni were great to work with. Toni met us for check in and showed us around the beautiful property. The gardens are truly magical!! So wonderful to wake up every morning to the music of the tropical birds, the sound of the ocean and beautiful tropical gardens. The Tiki Hut is super clean and has everything you need. We enjoyed the basket full of Hawaiian treats and Toni’s banana bread. We would definitely recommend staying here !! Thank you Toni and C.B. For sharing your little piece of Paradise 😊

January 2022
The home is in a wonderful location, less than a four minute walk to a spectacular beach. But for us it’s all about the garden - the most lovingly created tropical garden, with innumerable orchids and other lovely floral plants amidst palm trees and sheltered by gorgeous towering pines. Occasionally we catch a glimpse of the peaks nearby. The place is so quiet except for wind through the trees, chirping birds, waves in the distance and sometimes a bullfrog at night. Toni and CB are consummate hosts, never in the way but delightfully present from time to time. If you are lucky enough to taste her banana bread or cookies you will be even more impressed. A wonderful place for escape, meditation and rejuvenation.

Staying at the Tiki Hut was a joy from start to finish. Wonderful hosts, great location and a beautiful garden to relax in after a day at the beach or another adventure. Hope to return many times!

November 2021
Do not hesitate to book this property! It was beautiful, clean, comfortable and perfect if you want to get away from crowds and unwind! Toni and CB were wonderful hosts and I can’t wait to go back. In fact, it is better than what the pictures display.

September 2021
Toni and C.B. made our experience fantastic from the start with a wonderful welcome basket of treats. The home and garden are nicely decorated and well maintained, giving off a great island feel. The home is private and we felt as if we had the property to ourselves. The location is perfect for getting to Tunnels beach and enjoying some of the best snorkeling in Kauai. The jacuzzi was an added perk!

July 2021
What an amazing place for an escape from the mainland! My wife and I have been to Kauai many times, and we love the north shore beaches, so this year, for our wedding anniversary, we splurged on the Tiki Hut, and it was perfect. The drive beyond Hanalei town is about fifteen minutes and our hosts had marked a spot so we knew where to park. The property has a very private fence around it, but inside is a garden unlike you've seen anywhere but a botanical garden. It's amazing! Ringed with trees big and small along with tropical foliage and an inner lawn to walk around an admire the flowers. Our hosts Toni and CB came out of their home right away to greet us along with their friendly lab "Sampson." Toni took us on a little tour of the cottage, and it was bigger than we expected, even a four burner stove/oven. It has a lanai off the living space and another one off the bedroom, both with sitting areas for eating or taking in the breeze. All the furniture was island style, comfortable, and high quality. A basket of fruit and coffee was on the table and there was already a cold bottle of wine for us in the fridge. The cleanliness was some of the best we've ever seen in a rental, and every corner seemed to have exactly what we might need, like extra towels or a reading light or a bluetooth speaker for music during dinner. There was even a small safe for valuables. Outside, we had access to coolers, beach chairs, and other similar items, plus an outdoor shower complete with hot water! The walk down to Tunnels beach was just a few minutes along a private road, and it's probably our favorite beach on the island. Each day we made ourselves a great breakfast, spent most of the day with beach chairs on the beach, came back to the outdoor shower, and then sat in the hot tub to look at the garden. It's the kind of escape that makes you plan to return before you've even left. It's out along the road away from town, so perfect if you buy all your supplies and plan to hideaway from reality for a while. I hope future travelers will enjoy it as much as we did. Mahalo nui to Toni and CB for hosting us. We hope to see you again.

June 2021
Kauai is the most stunning island and the Tiki Hut was the perfect property to call home base during our time there . Toni and CB are kind, thoughtful hosts and the gardens surrounding the home are indescribably beautiful. The tiki hut is steps from Tunnels beach, which my boyfriend and I both agree is the most beautiful beach we’ve ever seen. Each morning we woke to the sounds of the local roosters and admired the grounds. The tiki hut is the ideal amount of secluded. It is a lush and untouched tropical area but is an easy, beautiful 15 minute drive to Hanalei and 30 to Princeville. We cannot wait to come back.

The Tiki Hut is truly an home away from home oasis! CB & Toni are the perfect hosts, and provided everything we could have possibly needed. A short walk to a great beach, close to Hanalei for shopping, great meals (try Hanalei Gourmet...we ate there 4 times!), and a convenient grocery store. The location is truly worth the drive. Being this far out was well worth it! We did a drive around the entire island our last day, as our flight wasn't until 8:30 and we were thrilled we stayed at the Tiki Hut. Felt like the middle of the rain forest and the gardens are exquisite! Complete with a bullfrog who liked to sing most nights! :-)

On all our vacation rentals we always end up saying " This was great but we wish that this detail was different". When you vacation at the Tiki Hut you will not regret one item. The photos are great but you have to be standing in the yard with the soft breeze blowing off the Pacific to really comprehend it. The Martins love their property and will do their absolute best to make sure you enjoy it the same way. Check out the availability calendar, see how solidy booked it is. I read the guest book one guest has revisited 12 times. Kauai is one sweet, gentle and gorgeous island. You will also meet Nugget, pet him for 25 seconds and you will feel him nuzzle right into you. So stop searching for a rental on Kauai and grab the Tiki Hut. P.S. C.B. When you chatted about Nugget, I completely understood you.

CB and Toni have created a tropical oasis and are nice enough to share it with us! The house and yard (it's more like a botanical garden) are impeccable. The house itself is comfortable, spotless and has everything you could want including two beautiful lanais for meals, reading and dreaming. It's so cute, and full of attention to detail from the decorating to the sweet basket of goodies waiting for you when you arrive. If this isn't enough, it's a five minute walk to a beautiful beach, and a few minutes walk more and you are at Tunnels (again, CB and Toni have thought of it all, everything you need for the beach is provided for your use). You're just a hop to Hanalei, but you will feel like you are in your own secluded paradise when you are at the Tiki Hut. It's the perfect place to stargaze, enjoy island showers passing through, and do absolutely nothing at all. You will forget the world while you are at Tiki Hut!

This place is phenomenal. We were impressed with the photos, but we were blown away by how incredible the garden is, how adorable the cottage is, and how charming the hosts are. The 3 minute walk to the beach was secluded and fairy-tale-esque, opening to a magical view 2 minutes east of Tunnels beach. The hot tub was especially nice, private, and perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. We have found our new home away from home, and we intend to come back every year, to this wonderful spot. Congratulations. You've found paradise on earth.

April 2017
The garden is gorgeous. The whole landscape is like a dream. The location is unbeatable, with Hanalei 2 miles one way, Na'pali Coast 2 miles the other way, and Tunnels Beach basically in the backyard. We had lots of privacy, with the tiki hut being set apart fromToni and CB's house. The amenities, such as the gas bbq, the 2 person hot tub, the boogie boards and snorkel equiptment, hammock, washer and dryer, work table for sorting sea shells, cooler, etc, were all very appreciated! Heaven on Earth.

March 2017
We have rented the Tiki Hut many times and it continues to be our favorite place in the world. For anyone who wants a relaxing vacation this is it, look no further. Toni and C.B. are respectful of your privacy and at the same time available if there is an issue, which is unlikely. Tunnels Beach which is a short walk is breathtaking and quiet. There are some nice restaurants in Hanalei, 15 minutes down the road. The local farmers markets are also fun. In case you do stay at the Tiki Hut you might hear an unfamiliar sound, not to worry just a bullfrog outside trying to attract a lady friend! We didn't want to leave and we are looking forward to our next visit.

November 2016
Although a bit off the beaten track, this wonderful place is pure paradise - perfect location - walking distance down a flowererd path to the most stunning beaches, although the waves made it too rough to play in, watching the layers of waves, turtles and spectacular scenery on a non-busy beach was so amazing. Every time we went out, the soundtrack to Rodgers & Hammerstein's "South Pacific" kept playing in my mind. As for the Tiki hut - it was perfect, cozy, nicely and thoughtfully decorated and given all the essentials and amenities needed. Not one, but two lanais, hot tub, fresh flowers and all. I can't imagine any place will live up to the Tiki Hut, surrounded by beautiful plants in the garden/yard. Owners (and Nugget) were friendly but they gave us privacy. Outdoor shower was great. We are now on Maui staying at more of a condo style place which has similar amenities, but so much less character, warmth and personal touch. If you like really getting away and being in true paradise, this is it! Can't think of a thing we would change. The last few miles getting there are a bit tricky at night since the roads wind and there are 1 lane bridges. If you want a resort or being around a variety of restaurants or busy beaches, this may not be for you. But if you love relaxing in nature, in a simple but charming home away from home, this is it! We loved it! Everything was as described and even better than expected. Clean and well maintained. We hope to come back! Thank you for a truly memorable get-away! As for nearby food, we enjoyed Sushi girl, Dolphin for fresh fish, and the farmers market and Big Save for our groceries. We enjoyed cooking at home, using grill. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. The book on Kauai was a gem. The beach chairs and towels were great. This place is near the end of the road. Waimea canyon would have been a long trek so we did a great helicopter tour out of Lihue.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tiki Hut. It is set in a gorgeous garden and is nicely decorated in an island theme. Toni and CB have thought of everything to make you welcome and comfortable. It is a few one lane bridges from Hanalei where you can shop, book excursions and go to restaurants. We fixed most of our evening meals at the cottage to avoid having to drive back in the dark. The beaches, which are a short walk down a dirt road, are beautiful with views of Makana (Bali Hai). There was very few people on the beach so you have lots of privacy and quiet time. Thank you Toni and CB for sharing your little slice of paradise.

September 2016
The location was wonderful. The accommodations were comfortable, the landscape beautiful and the owners attentive to all our needs. The basket of local treats and fruit, the chilled bottle of white wine in the refrigerator, Toni's fresh flower arrangements in every room...we can't say enough. Thank you Toni and CB for making this stay absolutely fabulous.

This was our first trip to Kauai and we could not have picked a more perfect place to stay! The Tiki Hut exceeded our expectations. Toni and C.B. have created a tropical paradise, the perfect place to relax and recharge and the location can’t be beat! A short walk to Tunnels Beach where you will find the best sunsets on Kauai and close to the charming town of Hanalei. Toni and C.B. provide everything we needed - beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel equipment and coolers. We loved having a BBQ to grill dinner and eat by candlelight on the lanai. Thank you sharing your paradise with us!

February 2016
The Tiki Hut was a wonderful spot for the final days of our Kauai vacation. On the site, we enjoyed the interior space, ate on the lanais, read in the chair swing and hammock, walked the garden, soaked in the hot tub, and greeted Nugget the dog. It was a perfect location to explore north shore attractions from Hanelei and Tunnels Beach to the Napali Coast. Thank you Toni and C.B.!

My husband and I have stayed at the Tiki Hut for three consecutive years and we can't imagine staying anywhere else. We both love the seclusion and then there is Toni and CB who just make everything so easy. The house is immaculate, the yard is over the top beautiful and their dog Nugget is certainly part of the attraction. It's a quick walk to the most spectacular, quiet beach. My sweetie and I live in Santa Cruz which is an amazing place, but sometimes we just need to get away and we can't think of another place more relaxing. We honestly feel at home here, without having to do any maintenance, yard work, or cleaning. Once again thanks for a magical 10 day and until we meet again...be well! Cheers.

Enthused, engaged and enthralled. That's how we feel since "discovering" the Tiki Hut. We first stayed here 8 days in January 2015. We loved it so much we vowed to return–and we did, a second time the same year, in December, for 2 full weeks. (When we learned the Tiki Hut was available over Christmas 2015 and New Year's 2016, we jumped like a gecko to linger in this wonderful bit of paradise again.) As "headquarters" for enjoying Kauai's North Shore, the Tiki Hut is a paradise in Paradise, from days of intermittent showers to glorious, blue-sky afternoons to stunning sunsets over "Bali Hai" (Mt. Makana), and with quick, easy access to famed Tunnels Beach. If you temporarily need a more active environment, it's just a 15-minute drive back to Hanalei. Without even leaving the property, the Tiki Hut's tropical garden is rich with exotic blossoms, greenery and texture as well as art objects, sculptures and accents that blend nature and human art together in concert. The Martins (Toni and C.B.) have built and nurtured and detailed the Tiki Hut –and manicured and the surrounding showcase botanical garden– with love for more than two decades. They are gracious at helpful hospitality, if you need anything, but allow you a perfectly private paradise getaway-hideaway, if you prefer. The cottage is separated from the main house by a carport/utility building, giving the Tiki Hut a separate space amid the landscape of tropical beauty. We can’t say enough about the well-appointed cottage, and the friendly hosts, C.B., Toni and their sweet golden retriever/lab mix, Nugget, a fine ambassador of aloha. Upon arrival, there's a welcome basket of goodies, including Toni's own banana bread and the Tiki Hut is adorned by numerous fresh tropical floral arrangements, created by Toni's artistry, from the Martins' stunning botanical garden/yard (portions of which are equally lush and colorful as the world-renowned Limahuli National Tropical Botanical Garden, just a mile down the road.) The Tiki Hut certainly provides what feels like one’s own private tropical paradise. And we will return again.

We loved the secluded location of Tiki Hut. We prefer the north side of the island and Tiki Hut was a perfect distance from our favorite beach (Ke'e). The amenities were wonderful, all we needed to do upon arrival was drop our suitcase and head to the beach. Beach towels, snorkel gear, and coolers were ready to go. We really enjoyed barbecuing in the evening followed by the spa. The main house is in close proximity but C.B. And Toni are very respectful of privacy. We only saw C.B. once, and that was when we requested some recommendations. The space feels very private and very clean, with every detail observed. We would definitely come again. My only recommendation would be to change the ceiling fans, the bedroom only worked on low. Luckily the stand up fan worked great so we weren't uncomfortable. C.B. and Toni have a LOVELY property! We will definitely stay again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Tiki Hut very much. The property was clean and very comfortable. A nice welcome basket was waiting for us upon our arrival with starter supplies - wine, some home made bread, coffees and candies and the property was well stocked with all of the basic necessities. The property grounds are beautiful and offer a very relaxing place to spend an evening after exploring the island during the day. The owners are very friendly and the booking process was easy and smooth. The parking is off to the side on a dirt road in front of the house and was fine. The only problem for us was that our car rental agency gave us a bigger car than we planned for and it was difficult to turn around on this side road. So, rent a smaller car if staying here. A couple of suggestions for the owners- replace the ceiling fans! They are wobbly, squeaky and creaky and take a way from the relaxing vibe of the place. Luckily, there was also a stand up fan that we could use to keep the living room fan off. Also, the wifi is terrible. It is basically non-existent in the property expect for a few specific spots. Combined with the seclusion of the North Shore, I had no cell (ATT) or wifi signal at the property. Consider beefing up the signal to the rental. Overall, we had a great time staying here and would stay here again.

For a peace-loving couple who appreciate meticulous housekeeping, Toni and C.B.'s Tiki Hut is ideal. The beach is a ten minute or so walk down a private road and great attractions, like Limahuli Gardens and the shops of Hanalei, are nearby by car. The rental looks out from two great lanais on a lovely garden that's lit at night. It's so quiet in the evenings that all one typically hears is the occasional crow of a rooster and the passing rain on the roof. The Martins provide a comfortable, clean place to stay as well as the accessories for snorkeling, relaxing, and outdoor dining. As generous and lovely as the owners are and despite the fact that their own home is in close proximity to the rental, you will rarely see them or their friendly dog, Nugget- unless you need help or information, in which case they are right there. We highly recommend this property.

When we arrived we were completely taken by the charm of the Tiki Hut and proximity to the beach. The property and surrounding gardens were in immaculate condition. Set in a backdrop near the Napali Coastline, this was the perfect respite for a relaxing vacation in a tropical setting. The hosts were sensitive to every detail to make our stay as relaxing and private as possible. We spent most evenings on the lanais listening to the distant surf and gazing at the landscape-lit gardens. I would highly recommend this rental to my friends and family.

The Tiki Hut is one of the best-kept North Shore Kauai secrets. You walk into a quiet, relaxing tropical paradise resembling Limahuli Botanical Garden just up the road. The landscaped yard features a giant tiki surrounded by lush plantings, including orchids of every description. The hut itself is perfect for two people with a compact but convenient kitchen, living room and dining room and a charming bedroom and bath, with two lanais (one off the bedroom, one off the living room) perfect for outdoor dining. Malahini (visitors) are welcomed by the Martins’ sweet yellow lab, Nugget, the official greeter. The property is a quick walk down a dirt road to magnificent Tunnels Beach where, if you’re lucky, you’ll see a snoozing monk seal hauled out for a nap. All in all, the Tiki Hut is a delightful Kauai getaway, and we look forward to coming back.

(I know this isn't the owner's fault. The weather was not good). I thought, from the pic's on the site, that the hut was farther from the house. I 'm guessing 25' door to door. Don't leave your blinds open, because when you walk down to the beach, C.B. will look in your window's and see THEIR candles lit on THEIR kitchen cabinets. Maybe 3" candles in glass housing's. Then when you get back you get scolded!! Sorry, I was a fireman for 30 years. It wasn't by drapes or a wall, or under a cabinet. Don't leave candles for tenants to light!!! Then when you park your rental car, you have to park it out by the trash cans, on an unlit dirt and gravel one lane road, right by the main road, where you then have to manually open a drive through gate to walk to your place. Nugget, the dog, was great!!! They also have a BEAUTIFUL yard. l

My husband and I loved our experience in Kauai. The owner's were very nice and gave us our privacy considering they also lived on the property. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. The yard was out of this world. Close enough to fantastic restaurants, but we felt like we were off the beaten path. Just what we wanted. Short walk to beautiful quiet beach. Their dog was a real sweetie pie. Wanted to sneak back to California. Will certainly go back to the Tiki Hut.

The Tiki Hut is the perfect garden island retreat. We felt that we left our world behind and quite literally stepped into paradise. Situated in an amazingly beautiful tropical garden, the Tiki Hut has all the Polynesian flair and amenities that one needs to become immersed in island life. From the library of Hawaiian music and books, to the fresh cut flowers and tasty snacks, to the snorkel gear, body boards and beach gear, the Tiki Hut is a wonderful home to stay in while on Kaua’i - but the garden and outdoor space is what this place is really all about. The amazing natural wonderland that surrounds the house is absolutely mesmerizing. We strolled through the garden at all hours of the day feeling like we were in a dreamland, soaked in the hot tub at night staring up at the stars through the trees, and lay in the hammock every morning feeling the world come to life. The Tiki Hut is the picture-perfect place to stay while on the Garden island. We loved our time there and look forward to returning.

We loved our stay at the Tiki Hut! The house and surrounding garden are beautifully taken care of with fresh flowers in vases and orchids growing everywhere. We loved sitting in the hot tub on rainy nights with the tropical pines towering over us. CB and Tony are very sweet and their dog, Nugget, was so playful and sweet he helped us not miss our dogs so much. The walk to the beach is just a few minutes to wonderful snorkeling and surfing.

We just spent a wonderful week at the Tiki Hut. Things we liked: We wanted to be away from everything, and we were. It's about 15 minutes beyond Hanalei almost at the end of the road. The house is about a 5-10 minute walk to Tunnels Beach, which is beautiful and sparsely populated - the opposite of Poipu, in terms of crowds. It is also close to the entrance for the Kalalau trail. We did an 8 mile hike, and one reason we managed to start early in the am was our proximity to the trailhead. Also, the Tiki Hut is cute, comfortable, equipped with all the basics, and set in the midst of a beautifully landscaped garden/yard. To be aware of: It is on the same parcel of land as the owner's house, so you are close neighbors. This wasn't an issue, but we felt that we had a little less privacy than we expected (this did deter us from using the hottub). The owners are warm and friendly, and have a sweet dog, who keeps an eye on things in the shared yard.

The Tiki hut is a gorgeous little get away. Location is excellent! The gardens are tropical paradise. The only downside is privacy. The windows have no closable curtains. When the hosts are working in the gardens and you want privacy during the day... at night it is not a problem! The hosts are very respectful and quiet. It's an awesome holiday spot.

We had a great vacation at the Tiki Hut. It was our 2nd experience there and we recomment to all. The owners are very nice and they have a loving dog. We appreciate the use of the free snorkeling gear, sun blocker, and boogie boards. Also the complimentary fresh banana bread is delicious! Walking distance to Tunnel's beach and 2 miles from lands end. The tropical garden around the Tiki Hut is absoutely beautiful with a hammock in the middle makes for your own piece of paradise. Thanks, Danny and Risa

April 2012
We just returned from a week at the Tiki Hut and the accommodations, the garden setting, the hosts...everything was wonderful! Toni and CB have thought of everything you need and then thought of more. Privacy, comfort, beauty, breezes, bird songs, beach...I can't say enough and would return in a second. As much as I looked forward to this trip...first time to Kauai...I must admit I was concerned about bugs and other crawling things. Didn't see one bug (in the cottage anyway) and fell in love with the geckos (all of them outside the cottage). Hanalei is so charming and just touristy enough. We ate at our place most of the time in order to relax after playing during the day, but Postcards (our favorite) was a wonderful meal...so fresh and beautifully presented. The Chocolate Volcano Cake is worth every penny! We also ate at Niede's and the Mexican food was deliciously prepared with fresh fish of the day. I only wish they would have sold some of their salsa to take with me! Friendly service on the porch overlooking gardens and mountains made it a great night. Oh yes, the Coconut Flan was another perfect dessert. The Dolphin was good fish, but a long wait and expensive for what you got. (the fish market there is also expensive, but very tasty on the grill back at the cottage). The folks waiting along with us at the tables beside the river were all happy and friendly, so the hour wait didn't seem so bad. Snorkeling proved to be the best for us right on our own Tunnels Beach, after we had scoured the N. Shore! The Kalalau Trail is very busy, but all the people are happy and friendly, as well. It wasn't nearly so difficult as some said, just don't go if it has rained! We only went in the first two miles. Grocery shopping means bring the bucks, especially if you shop at the Foodland at Princeville. You can save a lot at the Big Save in Hanalei, but I don't recommend the meat there at all...sorry! I've never tasted better bananas or pineapple anywhere...imagine that! One more thing...if you are a coffee drinker, splurge a little and go for the 100% Kona...what a way to wake up! If the bird songs and that coffee don't make you smile, you need to stay longer until the laid-back pace melts into you! I would...and will...recommend the Tiki Hut to anyone heading to the N. Shore of Kauai. If you want a break from a hectic life, then this is the place to go! Thanks again, Toni and CB, for sharing your wonderful part of the island with us!

This is a retreat for those who want to leave their day to day reality behind, to leave the "rat race". Decompress, renew & revitalize through the magical wonder of the Garden Island. The beauty and allure of the Tiki Hut Cottage is it's location. Nestled in the heart of the North Shore, the Tiki Hut Cottage is the answer to one's prayer to enjoy and appreciate nature at it's finest. This home-away-from-home cottage has all the amenities for you to enjoy that you want for nothing. As you make your way into your haven, you're greeted Aloha style with fresh flowers from the garden, homemade banana nut bread and other goodies to tempt your palate, and a view of Po'hana, your own Tiki, watching over you. Enjoy a nice jacuzzi in your private garden, sleep in a bed so comfortable, that you may just want to spent extra time there because you realize you are rested..relaxed..and all the more ready to enjoy the beginning of your stay in paradise. ... You will hear in the distance, the calling of the ocean waves... calling you to take a short stroll to the breath taking bay of Ha'ena. The uniqueness of this area is the variety of activities that are available to enjoy. For those painting/photography enthusiasts, that are equally in awe of both sunrises and sunsets, this is THE SPOT! Capture amazing rainbows that are a site to be seen. Stroll along the shoreline and the variety of sea shells will capture your attention and pull at the heart strings of a collector, going in the "winter" months you will be amazed at the display. For those who prefer the mystery of the underworld, the bay offers calm waters to take a dip in the crystal clear water, to snorkel/scuba dive and see the amazing creatures which inhabit the unseen world of this plant. Underwater photography is a must! If water sports are your thing then this is the place! Tunnels is a favorite surf spot for both locales and guests. Those that enjoy the wind in your hair, get your sails ready to be taken for a ride when you wind/kite surf. The bay is also a great location for those of you who like a slower pace in the water for stand-up paddling/ kayaking Down the road a bit is the wonder of Lumahai Gardens and walking tour, where you learn about the Hawaiian people and it's culture. There are also wet/dry caves and the Kalalau trails to explore for those who crave a little more adventure. Can't forget the NaPali coast line: tour via kayak, zodiac raft, sailing or helicopter Enjoy the whole island! Aloha
