This location was gorgeous, set in a quiet neighborhood with lush vegetation surrounding the house. There were exactly 8 of us but not once did we feel crowded or on each other's toes. We had plenty of space to move around and be comfortable in. We had other family staying on the island and were able to host them for dinner, it was Great!
I have not been to the Hawaiian islands, and have always wanted to go! I was so grateful my son and family were able to attend. I wanted to spend my first time on an less populated and more natural than commercialized, I could not have asked for a better trip. Getting to our vacation house was easy, and the owner sent us all the information so we would not have any troubles finding or getting into the vacation home. The house is beautiful and unique, I glad I chose this home for our vacation! The views in the back of the house are serene and peaceful. Thank you for letting my family and I enjoy your home!
We have been to kauai many times over the past 20 years. We stayed in this neighborhood because our friends live close. The house felt super private once you entered the home. The view out of the back patio was lovely. We spent most of our time out there, morning, afternoon and evenings.
The house had the beach supplies we needed, a great after beach shower and plenty of room for us to spread out.
Thanks for a lovely stay!
This property is a real gem! Elizabeth, the owner, was very communicative and responsive. The house is spacious and airy with absolutely breathtaking views. It had everything we needed, from beach gear to kitchen utensils. It’s very private, and we barely ever heard any people-just the sounds of birds and roosters. It’s a few doors down from Hanalei Bay Hotel, where we had access to a restaurant, bar, pools, hot tub, and beach. We sipped coffee on the back porch and watched the waterfalls on the mountains. It was truly a special place and we had a very hard time leaving!
Can’t beat the view. Great communication with owner.
Loved this house, lovely yard for my 3 year to play in and collect coconuts, a friendly neighborhood cat that visited daily, all the beach items you will need, plenty of space and lovely furnishings. Can't wait to come back!
Great neighborhood, views were stunning, owner was very accommodating and helpful. Would definitely stay again when we return!!!
The only complaint that I have is that we weren't able to stay longer. Elizabeth and Rob were both great and very helpful to us during our stay. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay in a beautiful place in a great location.
We stayed here with four kids 7 and under and it was ideal for our family. The house includes a stroller, pack and play, and high chair, which made it much easier to travel with and stay with our one year old. The outdoor shower was a lifesaver with our kids coming back from the beach. And the setting was perfect for a rainy day.
Lovely home, great location
Family enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed the home and view of mountains. Went to Hanalei Bay Resort for dinner, which is only steps away from this great property. This property is worth staying at, the streets are very pedestrian friendly. Beautiful neighborhood no sidewalks but streets are wide with very nice grass shoulders.
House had everything we needed for a great vacation!!
This is a beautiful property. I couldn't ask for better views. The house is in a nice quiet neighborhood and has several beaches nearby. The house was well supplied with sand toys, beach chairs, beach towels, and beach umbrellas. My kids enjoyed playing in the yard, and we all enjoyed sitting on the covered back porch. As a bonus, a very friendly cat often stopped by to get pets from my children. We would definitely like to stay here again at some point.
The house and the location were absolutely amazing! We were only a short walk away from Queens Bath where our son proposed to his girlfriend! The subdivision was beautiful and safe. The entire trip was beyond what words can express!!
This property is so magical because it’s behind the lanai. The house was large and comfortable with everything you needed to relax and enjoy. The bed in the primary suite was soft and cozy.
We rented this house as headquarters for our wedding. Although only 4 of us actually stayed in the house we hosted around 20. It was perfect... size, location, places for people to sit and drink in the amazing view. A couple of very small maintenance issues did nothing to diminish the perfectness of everything else. Elizabeth was responsive and helpful. Nothing but great memories to take home.
There was more than enough room for all of us, and every bed was very comfortable. The extra beach gear supplied in the garage made our days much more fun. The best part was the view out the back door and the stars at night. Excellent stay for sure!
This house was perfect for my family of 7. Plenty of space and private showers for all. The outdoor shower was also amazing. I loved the outdoor deck furniture and the view was just amazing! There were plenty of accessories for beach provided along with awesome beach towels.
The only thing I would add to the property is a roku or a streaming service to allow for family movie night. There is however a DVD player.
Would definitely stay here again!
Beautiful view! Large, breezy house perfect for sharing with family.
My family (two grandparents, two parents, one aunt, three children of ages 8, 4, and 1) had a great stay at this house. I have never stayed at a house with such a magnificent view in the backyard, and the house is beautifully furnished. Elizabeth, the host, was very friendly, responsive, and supportive. There were plenty of sand toys, surfboards, pool floats/swimming tubes, and snorkeling equipment for kids and adults, so that we didn't need to rent any beach equipment. I think this house would be the perfect vacation home for many, though not all, families, for the reasons I list below.
I am taking one star off for the following reasons, and I hope this serves guests for whom these details are relevant: (1) the house is old. A lot of the cabinets and drawers have hinges and drawer glides that are worn down, and, therefore, don't open and close well or are misaligned. The kitchen utensils and pots and pans are old. The washing machine and dryer work fine, but they are old and rusty. Some of the listing descriptions are also inaccurate. I don't think this is intentional, I just think they're outdated, for example, (a) there is no four-seat square table inside the Master bedroom upstairs, instead of the rocking chair and the table, there are two over-sized bean bag/lovesac chairs, (b) there is no six-seat rectangular table next to the kitchen, (c) there are no lounge chairs on the balcony, only two wooden benches without any cushions, and one of the benches is broken and has a sign on it saying not to use it because it hasn't been repaired yet. This made the balcony an uninviting place to sit, and we spent most of our lounging time in the family room (which, by the way, has the same spectacular views). (2) The house is full of Buddhist decor (which you can make out in some of the pictures, but they stand out much more when you're there in-person). My family is religious, but not Buddhist, and the prominently displayed Buddhist decor was slightly off-putting. (3) The house is not sound-proofed. I personally enjoyed the sounds of many bugs and birds at night, but my parents, who are light-sleepers, had a hard time sleeping with all the noise. The windows have bug screens with blinds/louvers/shutters on them, so even when you close them, you're only blocking direct sunlight and rain, but still letting in air, light, and sound.
Overall, a wonderful home that shows its age, but it really does have a spectacular view and is in a great location.
The view is spectacular, the house feels very secluded but is close to many beaches. The rooms are spacious and porch is amazing. They have surf boards, buggy boards, beach chairs snorkeling gear, and sand toys all in the garadge to use:)
This place was absolutely 5/5 star perfect for us for this vacation. Elizabeth was amazing, the house was even better than expected (I agree with other reviews, it is even prettier than the pictures), location was perfect.
We were 4 adults and 3 kids, 12, 7 and 5 yo. There were plenty of space for all of us, the house was well equiped with everything you can possibly need. We would have morning coffee on the back porch (wonderful way to start the day with that wiev) go surfing all day in Hanalei Bay. Come home to shower in the best outdoor shower and then a glass of wine on the porch before going out to dinner. We had all our dinners in Hanalei Bay, the cutest little town. We staed for 5 nights and has the most relaxing time. I would definitely recommend this property and location and will 100% return.
Lively time at this beautiful rental. Great location , and all the beach toys you need. Host is great as well. Views are incredible. Note that the neighboring hotel doesn’t like you to use their path to the beach so you may end up driving!
Wow I cannot say enough about this property. The house was more than perfect for our group. It had all the necessities and amenities during our stay. The garage was stacked full of beach supplies. Plenty of amazing beach quick dry towels! Hose to rinse off after a day at the beach. The backyard view was stunning. Plenty of seating for everyone inside and outside. The neighborhood was gorgeous and clean. Location was perfect for getting around to all the sites. There were so many things to do because we were so close. The most amazing secluded beaches were less than a mile away!! The host, Elizabeth was the sweetest host I've ever worked with. She was a 10!!
This house is every bit worth the nightly rate. As a group, we thought the house was the best part of our trip.
Thanks again Elizabeth for being so helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Kauai!!!
Best vacation rental we’ve stayed at, hands down. Elizabeth was so proactive, responsive and helpful.
The house is so spacious and comfortable both inside and outside! We loved sitting on the back porch while our 3 and 6 year old played on the lawn and looked for cats / chickens / geckos. So relaxing, cool and with breathtaking views of the Hanalei mountains.
Fans and cross breezes kept the house very comfortable day and night. We were worried we’d be super hot without AC at night, but we all needed a light blanket though never dropped below 70 outside. Max daytime low 80’s.
Amenities: seems they’ve thought of essentially everything! The kitchen had everything - ice maker, blender, coffee maker, pots / pans, utensils / plates, etc galore! Several condiments also.
The garage is well stocked with boogie boards, beach bags, beach toys, snorkel gear.
The enclosed outdoor shower off the garage is genius to get the beach sand and Kauai red dirt off shoes and clothes - and to let everything dry.
The master bed was soft and very comfortable! The two twins in the master alcove worked great for my husband and our two kids to have the whole upstairs while still having some kid / adult separation.
The rest of our family had plenty of space and privacy in downtstairs bedrooms / baths.
The neighborhood is super safe and nice to take walks / runs. All our outings were less than 30 min drive (maximum was to Ha’ena State Park). Hanalei Bay, Hanalei Valley hikes, Princeville Botanic Gardens - all super accessible and not too busy.
Simply excellent all around!
The property met all the expectations as described in the VRBO listing; nice location, clean, plenty of room, well furnished, great view from the back porch, and away from traffic. We would definitely recommend this location to our friends and family.
I want to keep this place a secret but also want to tell everyone I know to stay at this property. The views are unreal and the space is PERFECT for a family, especially a family with kids. I would like to note that if you are signing up for excursions that most of those are about a 45-50 minute drive from the house, but we considered it 100% worth it!
I can't wait to stay here again, I miss it already!
The house helped make our vacation. The house was a pleasure to come back to every evening. Relaxing, beautiful views and a great location to visit the northern Island. We also traveled to the southern most of the Island and enjoyed a breathing taking ride. Host was fantastic, perfectly maintained property. Handymen rob is just two doors down. I would recommend to everyone. Hope to come back.
The views from this house are truly amazing. It’s worth it for that alone. Unfortunately, the furniture is very dated and uncomfortable throughout the house - so we didn’t really enjoy unwinding there after a day of exploring the island. A lot of potential here with an upgrade the furniture in the living room and patio.
If you’re all about scenic views this is the place for you. Waking up to a beautiful view every morning and sitting on the porch was a great way to start the day. The house included snorkeling gear, surf boards, and beach items for kids. It also included board games for late night. We recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit Kauai!
Overall we liked this house. The view is seriously phenomenal! I looked forward to my morning workout on the back patio every morning. It was so great that we had access to anything we needed to go to the beach. The upstairs bedroom does get pretty warm during the middle of the day and there’s not a ton of privacy in the master bathroom. (No doors that lock) The living room furniture isn’t the coziest to relax on after a long day in the sun. However, we would totally stay here again just for the location and view!
It Was as advertised you felt like you’re living in a rainforest. The home of the few things work but for the price and the location it was very very nice. I may go back again
An absolute lovely place in paradise. Situated in a golf club neighborhood, once at the house it is like being in paradise, the wild view out the back is exquisite. Located near shops, convenient and a wonderful vacation spot for exploring.
Everything about the experience was phenomenal. Elizabeth is an incredible host! And the views…wow. A highlight of our trip was having slow mornings overlooking the lush forest. I would LOVE to stay here again.
Great for family vacation. Plenty of room for parents and young adults.
Check-in was a bit rough, but it was an issue that was handled directly by Elizabeth and the rest of our stay was nice. The house is comfortable and I can’t say enough about the backyard view. I liked that we were walking distance from Hanalei Bay resort and we were able to enjoy some food and drinks at the restaurant bar. The community was safe and everyone was friendly.
This place is better than online pictures. Please take better pictures to showcase the place
Family vacation celebrating graduations of my daughters. First time in HawaiiThis was our first time ever in Hawaii and on the island of Kauai.I want you to let you know we were absolutely thrilled with this location and the property owners worked with us wonderfully we arrived early we were allowed to get into the house early. It had all the extras that you could use for the beach. There was nothing we need to worry about. The home was more than we can even ask for. If we ever return again we absolutely would return to this owner to rent. We were thrilled with the location
I woke up to views of the mountains with too many waterfalls to count. Breakfast on the porch, tons of beach toys, cool breezes through the louver windows and fans (no A/C but we definitely didn't miss it), responsive host, and really cool wood-carved furniture. Kitchen has outdated cabinets but an awesome new gas stove we cooked a few meals on. Perfect spot to get away with your partner, parents, baby, or all of the above. I wish this were my island home!
First of all let’s talk about that VIEW. Absolutely beautiful view of the mountains from the back porch and living room and the MASTER BEDROOM VIEW!!!! Just waking up to a peekaboo view of Hanalei Bay was dreeeeeamy!
The place is located in Princeville which is basically a golf course neighborhood. Which honestly isn’t really my jam but the house backs up to a green belt and so it really didn’t feel like I was at a golf course at all. It felt like I was on the edge of a gorgeous wilderness in the middle of nowhere. It FELT remote but isn’t. Which was awesome. Also there was a craft fair walking distance in Princeville which was fun. Supporting local as much as possible while in Kauai felt good to me.
It’s close to several beaches. It’s a bit of a hike to the closest one, but that didn’t bother me a bit. If you don’t like walking or walking uphill is a no-go for you, I would not consider this place walking distance to the beach. HOWEVER, the first day we were there I walked down to the beach and went snorkeling and saw a turtle right off the bat so #WORTHTHEHIKE.
The spot was super clean, well stocked kitchen, they left bug spray (needed!) and some sunscreen ❤️ which I really appreciated. Cozy beds with a little screened in porch off one bedroom downstairs.
I appreciated that there weren’t a bunch of breakable trinkets hanging around. I’ve got two young rowdy boys and I didn’t worry about anything. All the furniture was super sturdy and eclectic and fun. Great spot for kids! Also they had all the beach stuff you need plus a couple of car seats and strollers (the strollers were excellent for hiking back up to the house from the beach with kids).
I mean, look you guys, this place rocks, it’s a great price, and it’s a short drive to Hanalei which is absolutely unbelievable. I spent my last evening boogie boarding there watching the sunset with a bunch of local surfer types.
Elizabeth was thorough and well prepared and I’m thinking about how to come back!! Mahalo!
Beautiful house with everything you could need! Easy check-in and the hosts were wonderful/easy to work with. Would definitely come back!
This is a huge house that easily accommodated our family of six. The view is stunning. From upstairs you can even see Hanalei Bay! Interestingly furnished and decorated. Ceiling fans in abundance make AC nonessential. Very well equipped kitchen. Outdoor shower is a wonderful experience beyond washing away beach sand or hiking mud. The garage contains surf boards, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and two baby strollers. Very much enjoyed our stay!
The backyard view was the most amazing scenery. To sit in the living room or on the porch and enjoy the view was the highlight of the home. We enjoyed the plentiful seating and sleeping arrangements. For the one night we were at the house relaxing we enjoyed the decks of cards and casino chips. Down the street is a resort where we found a restaurant and a long walk to the most beautiful beach. We had no issues at all.
The view is undersold- it is breathtaking. The house had everything we needed- we only ate out one day of the ten we stayed and found the kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots and pans and a barbecue. The beds are comfortable and we used the provided, coolers, beach towels, boogie boards and surf boards. As you can see in the photos the furniture is wonderfully quirky and very comfy (except the deck furniture, beautiful but not too comfortable- but there were enough cushions to move around to adjust the comfort level ) that and the refrigerator was oddly hard to open, were our only complaints, and minor issues. The resort at the end of the street (no blame to the home) does not want you on their property unless you have reservations for dinner- very unfriendly folks there. Highly recommend this beautiful and very comfortable Princeville, Kauai home. When we come back we'd love to stay again.
Wonderful house, great location. Amazing mountain views with waterfalls. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We really enjoyed our stay. The view of the mountains was absolutely gorgeous and the location was great! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
It is rare that you stay at a place that is even better than the online description. That was the case with this home. Wonderful place with incredible view. We loved every minute. Can’t wait to go back!
This house and grounds are lovely. Well stocked kitchen. Lots of beds, beautiful view of mountains, and of the ocean from the second floor bedroom suite. Spencer was very accommodating. Note that listing says there is a house phone, but the owner apparently decided to save $10 a month (Spectrum) and removed it. While everyone has cell phones these days, there are times when it's nice to make reservations from an 808 area code number.
