This is a beautiful 2 Bedrooom / 2 Bath townhouse directly on the oceanfront at the Keauhou Kona Surf & Racquet Club. This is a gated community with 4 lighted pickleball/ 3 tennis courts, swimming pool, and community BBQ & picnic areas. There is no air conditioning in the unit. There is a nice breeze from the ocean with the windows open and each bedroom has a ceiling fan and a stand-up fan, if desired. At night it can be cool with the ceiling fan and you might need a blanket! Since it is located directly on the oceanfront there is the possibility of the lanai being closed off when the civil defense issues a high surf warning. The complex management will close up the lanai area to protect the townhouse from the surf.

In December 2022, the townhouse had a major renovation. The kitchen was entirely remodeled installing new cabinets and counters, new recessed lighting and new appliances. The laundry facilities are upstairs in the bathroom which has a large shower at the end of the room with a large window overlooking the ocean. The living room, kitchen, bathrooms and stairs have been tiled with travertine. New mattresses were installed in all the bedrooms in May 2019. The downstairs bathroom had a remodel of the shower in August 2019. Living room, dining room and stairwell were freshly painted in March 2021!

Let the soft breeze and ocean waves lull you to sleep in the Makai (toward the ocean) Master Bedroom, furnished with a King bed and cable TV. The tropical Mauka (mountain side) bedroom has two twin beds (easily converted to a King with kit provided), and teak and bamboo furnishings.

Keeping to our motto 'Just Say No to Rugs,' this townhouse sports bamboo hardwood flooring in the bedrooms and tile throughout the ground floor.

From the ground floor Lanai you can watch Spinner Dolphins swim the coastline daily, whales breaching during their migration and incomparable sunsets with the ocean waves literally breaking in front of you. If you were staying anywhere closer you'd be swimming!

Located in the upscale Keauhou area this is a highly desirable, quiet, family-friendly and gated 14 acre garden community featuring 3 lighted tennis courts (tennis pro available), a swimming pool that was fully refurbished in October 2016 and nicely done community BBQ and picnic areas.

Walk to Kahalu’u Beach Park (ranked among the best snorkeling reefs in the Islands) and to the nearby Keauhou shopping center for shops, dining, cinema, groceries, local Farmer's market and free Hula and local community entertainment weekly. Excellent golfing is available at the adjacent Kona Country Club Ocean Golf Course or take the day off and watch the local surfers “shred” a few waves.

This is an excellent and safe walking area with many sights, open expanses of coastline and minimal automobile traffic. The area is great for strolling and rich in historical landmarks and heiau (temples), one of which is adjacent to the unit. This area was once the home of the Ali'i (Hawaiian chiefs) and the waters were once reserved for use only by royalty!

This is a wonderful retreat you are sure to enjoy!

We also have a condo that sleeps four at https://www.vrbo.com/1020417

Nice condo with ocean front view. Small unit but it had everything we needed. Nice sunsets from the lanai. Would have liked a tea kettle since we're not coffee drinkers.

We loved the patio. Almost everyday, we were able to watch whales and dolphins. The unit is a short walk to a great beach for snorkeling. There is no AC, but I don’t think AC was necessary with the ocean breeze.

We loved the views and the sound of the waves crashing while we slept. The only thing about this place is if you have young, clumsy kiddos, it might not be a good choice, because everything is tile and stone and could be really slippery when wet. But a really beautiful condo and property. Access to the beach was excellent as well.

I've stayed at this complex multiple times before and the proximity to the ocean is incredible. This property is central to all of the places we like to visit on the island and the nearby shopping center is a huge bonus.

If you're looking for an oceanfront condo you can't beat this location. We began and ended each day of our vacation sitting on the patio mere steps from the ocean. Close enough to feel the spray of the surf if we wanted to! The unit was clean and homey. Our family felt quickly at home. The check-in and check-out process was easy and seamless. Thank you for sharing your home with us! We'd love to come back!

Great Island hopping getaway for the weekend. Great amenities, loved listening to the musical waves at night, so peaceful good for the soul.

Excellent property with good instructions and timely, responsive communication by the host. Property features were as advertised, the unit was clean, and the beach supplies were very welcome! I almost gave this 4 stars vs. 5 due to the temperature being difficult to regulate for sleeping. It was in the mid-70's overnight but our bedroom was 86 & 89 degrees and still 82 in the morning. A little more air movement would have been helpful, but overall this is an excellent property to rent for a short or long vacation.

We had an an awesome time staying there. You can swim in a pool or the ocean. Close to convenience stores if you need anything. Looking forward to staying there in the future.

Morning and evening tea on the Lanai is awesome. Once we opened the window the sea breeze cooled down property well. Nice location for everything. Secure entry and safe Small ants near the entry so stored everything in the fridge. And no ant problem. Overall good place to stay for the view and location.

After spending a majority of our stay on the Big Island in Pahoa (the jungle!), we had a fabulous last night on the island here. We enjoyed the magnificent sunset right out the back door of the condo and were lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves outside the bedrooms window. The kids didn't want to leave the pool right across from the condo. We loved our stay and are dreading heading home to the cold snow in Alaska! Mahalo!

The condo was clean and uncluddered! The beds and furniture were comfortable as well as updated bathroom that were clean. It was super handy to have all the necessary beach items available along with a thorough "best places to visit and eat" from the owners. I booked this property several months ahead of travel and was pleasently surprised at how close the lanai was to the ocean and the pool was only a few steps away. The reality of how beautiful this spot is cannot be captured in the pictures. I would definitely stay here again and stay longer.

Edgar made sure we were aware of the high surf warning and that the balcony would be boarded up due to this issue. Weather is out of all of our control but the view from upstairs was still beautiful and the boards came down toward the end of our trip and made it even more majestic. The sounds of the waves each night was soothing and the ocean breeze kept the home cool. We will come back to Kona and hope his home is available! Thank You, Anthony S.

The owner was very responsive and helpful. The space worked really well for my group of 4, but it could accommodate more people. It was great watching the sunset in the evening off the back porch!

The location and view is amazing! We were prepared for bugs, having visited HI before but, you never get used to seeing a 4 in cockroach on the wall. The mattresses really need to be upgraded, not comfortable at all. The lights and switches were another brain teaser. We never did find a switch for the main bedroom. We knew there was no A/C and had hoped being right on the ocean we’d get a nice breeze. We were wrong. It got hot and muggy. There are ceiling fans and standing fans but it was still uncomfortable until midnight/1am. The house was clean. We felt safe. Check in was easy and communication was great.

We snorkeled right out the back door that looks out on the ocean. The beach right down the street was super accessible and the snorkeling was superb with sea turtles and tons of fish. Highly recommend this home for a stay.

This condo is very well kept and clean. The property is lovely, and the property owners are friendly and helpful. The property does have to be protected with high surf, the owners made it right for us which we greatly appreciated. Kids loved the pool.

This home was absolutely perfect for our family of 4. Our two boys loved their room and we loved going to sleep at night to the sound of the ocean right outside the master. Having the pool right across from us was perfect for our energetic boys. My husband and I loved sitting on the lanai in the morning and evenings. The complex was quiet and Edgar was so easy to work with and quick to respond when I couldn’t find something. Can’t wait to stay here again. Thank you Edgar for sharing your piece of paradise with our family! Mahalo!

Enjoyed our 2-night stay at this property. Beautiful sunsets!! The property does show its age, but all in all, it served us well. Well equipped with everything you need, even some water fun gear. Pool is directly across along with propane grills. Neighborhood is very quiet and close to everything you would need when venturing out. Only downside was lack of AC, although it did cool down in the evenings and we were out and about during the day, so was not a big issue for us.

September 2021
This two bedroom condo was perfect for my husband and me and my brother and his wife. Close to the airport and minutes from Kona. Edgar was great with providing us all of the information we needed for our stay. The pictures of the outdoor area doesn’t do it justice! You need to book this condo and experience it for yourselves. Although it was hot sitting on the patio in the afternoon, you can’t beat that ocean view that is just steps from the back door. Sunset was beautiful and cooled down quickly. The only thing I wish the condo would’ve had was AC, otherwise it was perfect.

Right on the ocean. A little outdated and could use a better pull out couch but really no complaints. Very reasonable for location and price

July 2021
It's a modest little property, but right on the waterfront! and near the pool! and near a wonderful seashore with tidepools. Also far enough away from Kona to be peaceful, but close enough to access the activities there. Edgar was very responsive to all our inquiries and was generous with supplying ideas for things to do. Kitchen was well-stocked and we enjoyed meals on the oceanfront lanai. We'd stay there again.

The location of this unit is amazing. You can fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks. There was a bit of issue where the cleaners had somehow missed cleaning the unit so they were called late in the night to come and clean it was greatly appreciated. There is also no AC, it did not bother us much as we come from a hot area.

March 2020
After a wonderful 2014 Christmas vacation at Edgar's place, we returned to his property for two weeks this Feb. The property was cozy for cooking meals to enjoy on the lanai, hanging out the pool and walks to the nearby Kahalu'u Beach. We did day trips to Hapuna beach, Botanical Gardens /Waipio Valley, Volcano & green sand beach and were able to return to the unit for the stunning sunsets most of time. We were also lucky to spot whales from the lanai on two occasions. A great spot for our family holiday.

This was the first time we stayed in this unit and we absolutely loved it. You can't get any closer to the water and listening to the waves at night were amazing. Edgar was a great owner and was so accommodating. We can't say enough about him or his townhouse.

This place was beautiful! Right on the water, you can hear the waves crashing all night. You can see the whales breaching right out on front while your eating right out on the lanae. Such a great experience and Edgar was very responsive and very understanding. Would definitely stay here hands down. Best first Hawaii experience. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to stay in your beautiful place.

November 2019
We loved our stay. Falling asleep to the crashing waves & ocean smell was lovely. Easy to get in & out of & getting into Kona was simple. We appreciated how quiet the complex was while we were there. We really loved that the complex had the two protected sights in it (I’m a history seeker, so was really excited to see that). Only suggestions are a tea kettle, new screen door(we were worried we’d break it) & we know it’s a consequence of sea salt & a firmer mattress (but that’s a personal preference). We would absolutely stay here again! Mahalo.

November 2019
Kitchen supplies inadequate, not enough utensils, chopping block overused and all banged up, non stick coating on pans peeling, unsanitary to cook in, the rental needed upgrades, substandard sheets, basically the view was very good but everything else was sub par. Owner needs to spend alittle money to upgrade the very basics; dishes, pots and pans , utensils. Worst of all there were fire ants everywhere even inside the microwave. Never got a call back from property manager. It’s an expensive rental, that needs some attention to justify the high expense.

We spent a wonderful 12 nights in unit 186. This townhouse was exactly as described. It was clean and comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. We also made use of the available snorkel gear, beach chairs and cooler. We especially liked the location, directly on the ocean and very close to the pool. Would definitely choose this unit again!

Super easy to get in with a lock box, and it's a gated community so very secure and safe. We had ocean views on one side, and the community pool is on the other, so very convenient. Parking is right at the door. There's a great snorkeling spot 5 min away, and Kona city center is just beyond that. Recommend!

August 2019
Nice location, close to Kona but far enough away to not be bothered by the Ali’i Drive foot traffic. Close to the grocery store, restaurants and movies. Four of my five trips to Kona I have stayed at the Keauhou Surf & Racquet Club. The units are basically the same on the inside, this unit has terrific views of the ocean, sunset and on this trip I also saw spectacular moon sets due to the full moon!

Clean, incredibly close to the ocean, and easy access to both north and south destinations. We all underestimated the importance of having air conditioning, however, and we were miserably hot for all but the very early morning hours, even with the ceiling and standing fans. No complaints at all other than that.

If this property had air conditioning we would give it a 5 1/2 stars. The accommodations were outstanding, amenities completely adequate. Beach toys were a plus. Pool access was great and the back porch view of the ocean and surf was magnificent

I really liked my stay and my kids had a great time. This is a very nice townhouse...with an "amazing" ocean front back deck. The picture in the listing is exactly what you get to enjoy every day. The crashing waves were a sight and sound that i took in every day. The home is nicely decorated and well stocked with bedding and beach items. The property is on a gated, well maintained community. We were able to use it as a launch pad to get all over the island to nearby shopping, beaches and tourist activities. The owner is an exceptionally thoughtful, responsive and friendly person, totally focused on customer satisfaction. If and when I go back to Kona, I will definitely go back to this charming home.

This was a nice place. Nothing fancy, but definitely has pretty much anything that you need. Great location, we took Lyft anywhere we wanted to go around the Kona area. This townhouse was right next to the pool, and was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this place.

The host had things in the house available (kitchenware, utensils, washing machine, snorkel equipment, etc.) that were very useful. We especially appreciated being able to use the snorkel equipment (thank you!!!). Edgar also had many recommendations for things to do and places to eat that were awesome recommendations! He was also very prompt with communication and was very accommodating. Thank you!

We very much enjoyed our stay.  The sound of the waves crashing into the rocks immediately beyond our lanai was enjoyable for us.  We were able to  see whales, spinner dolphins and sunsets from the lanai.  The property is well kept up and well stocked.  The upstairs washer and dryer were very convenient.  TV and internet reception were good.  Edgar was very responsive to the issues we found. The grounds in the complex are well kept up and have a nice variety of flowers.  Just walk across the driveway to the pool.  A short walk to the quiet beach next door - nice for a stroll, or a sit, or a walk out on the rocks but not a swimming beach.  Pleasant waves breaking and sea turtles feeding - you do have to really look for them.  There are some petroglyphs on the flat rocks near the heiou at the end.  There's a writeup on them in Doughty's "Hawaii The Big Island Revealed" guidebook.  There are a couple of good sized blowholes on the golf course at the other end of the complex. Some things to enjoy in the immediate area: 6 minute walk to Kahaluu Beach for snorkeling, farmers market in Keahou Shopping Center Saturday mornings, hula show there Friday evenings, Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory, the End of the World - site of a major Hawaiian battle, Kamehameha III birthplace, Rays on the Bay at the Sheraton - on a calm evening, Wednesday farmers market at the Sheraton.  We also enjoyed taking in a musical at the Aloha Theatre.  It's also just a short drive to Greenwell Farms, the Kona Living History Coffee Farm, the Captain Cook Sunday morning farmers market, and Mauka Meadows in the other direction.  Plenty of others in the guidebooks - Painted Church, the Place of Refuge and Two Step to the south and many others for more of a drive.  It's a couple of hours to Volcanoes National Park - be prepared for cool weather and rain.

February 2018
This beautiful condo is exactly as expected. Comfortable, ocean front, beach close by, easy sleeping with the surf breaking on the lava to put you to sleep. Added plus - door front parking, grocery store nearby, close to Kona but away from the traffic and noise. Shared and semi private oceanfront patio. We did not use any other facilities but it was close to the pool (but no pool noise at night!). Would definitely recommend.

Party of 4 all under the age of 39. The view, accessibility to a pool, beaches and grocery store very close by. Lots of great activities as well on site and around the area. Walking distance was easily achievable for the trolly and swimming activities in the ocean. Disappointed that we had to buy a lot of our own condiments like ketchup, mustard, mayo, pepper, salt etc. as other VRBO places we stayed at supplied or kept lot of it in the fridge/pantry from past visitors. The toilets don’t flush very well, beds could be updated (as there are lumps in the bed).

Mixed family group of four, nephews, nana and aunt, enjoyed our stay immensely. Made good use of the snorkel gear and the well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed the proximity to the beaches and the terrific local information provided ahead of our stay. Perfect for our first visit to the big island.
