I loved everything about this place! Such an awesome location with the most quiet, serene, and lovely grounds! The owners have done a fantastic job of making sure the unit has absolutely everything you could begin to need plus some. They provided food goodies were such an added bonus, and so appreciated. This would absolutely be the first place I choose to stay if I ever come back ♥️

Robert and Stephanie have a wonderful rental that I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique stay. The property is beautiful, with ocean and sunset views, fruit trees, and a quiet, relaxing air. The interior was spotless. The AC wasn't needed at all with the airflow from the windows and fans. I also truly appreciated the starter kit of breakfast foods that saved me a trip to the grocery when I arrived and just wanted to settle in. The communication was fast between me and the hosts, and I had no issues during the stay. They were very quiet above me. If/when I return to Maui this will be the first place I look for vacancy! It's located in such a great spot that everything seems accessible within 15 minutes whether it's beaches, food trucks, zip lining, etc.

Areca Suite worked well for our first 5 days of a 14 day trip to three total islands. We wanted to see a lot of Maui and the location was perfectly placed for all our adventures to Haleakala for sunrise, the Road to Hana, Molikini Crater, west shore beaches, and Iao State Monument. We also discovered Baked on Maui just 2 miles away.

If you are looking for a quiet stay in the middle of nature and want to enjoy a magnificent view, this is it. Plenty of room for 2 couples… If you want to discover the island, especially Hana , this is a good base.

From the moment the suite was booked to the day we left, the communication with the hosts was superb! This suite exceeded my expectations! The host thought of every little detail to make our stay great! The suite was very clean, comfortable and inviting. The host provided a binder of "how to" instructions for the AC, TV, appliances and a variety of local and island attractions and restaurants. I would highly recommend this property and we've already decided we will be returning!! Thanks Robert and Stephanie for providing such an excellent experience!!

This was the perfect place for me and my father to stay together. Two bedrooms (with A/C!), a kitchen with everything we needed to cook, and, perhaps most importantly, a lanai with a view all the way to the ocean that changed from moment to moment. What a show! We spent the majority of our time on Maui sitting in the chairs and just watching the clouds and the rainbows and the sun setting. The owners were right upstairs and very considerate of our space, both giving it to us and being available when we had questions. Five stars! Highly recommend!

After a week in the busy beach towns, Tranquil Palms was such a welcome change of pace. The location is perfect and the views are stunning. It is only several miles from mile marker 0 on the road to Hana. It is an easy drive to the summit of Haleakalā for a sunrise or sunset. It is close to Pa’ia, beaches, groceries, and only a short drive from the airport. The property has fresh fruit trees that guests can pick from. The hosts are wonderful. They were always available for questions. Their communication was timely and instructions for driving, check in, and check out were spot on. We appreciated the availability of beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, a cooler, and snacks. Thank you, Robert and Stephanie, for a wonderful stay!

As represented, only better! Very neat, clean and quiet with well thought out touches and great views. It is obvious that hosts take great pride in the unit and the property. A very pleasant contrast to the "resort" side of Maui. Thank you.

Listing was exactly as pictured. Really appreciated the welcome breakfast foods. Enjoyed the morning fruits that I picked right from the trees off the lanai. Very peaceful location. 25 mins from airport- so it was convenient . A bit of a drive to West coast but doable as the main road is less than 1/10 milefrom the house. Thank you !

We had come to Maui after planning multiple trips to Hawaii, all postponed due to the pandemic. Wanting to travel the whole island, we looked for a place that was private yet within striking distance of - well, the whole island. This was the perfect place! We drove the Hana Highway, ascended to the top of the volcano, went to the western beaches, snorkeled and... you get the idea. Areca Palms was exactly as advertised, stocked with snacks, fresh coffee beans, and a huge bottle of water. Each morning, we made breakfast on the hot plate and took off for adventures. The rules were sensible. Beach towels and tour books were also there along with first class washing machine and drier. The owners were delightful and responsive (as well as very quiet), offering their ideas and insight. The view of the stars at night, just outside the main entrance was spectacular. Tropical birds greeted us every day and the view of the ocean from the front window made our stay very special. When we return to Maui, we know what our lodgings will be!

Enjoyed our stay in Areca Suite. We did our vacation in two legs, the first being in this vrbo as we wanted to explore more adventures along the Road to Hana. After this we moved over to the Kapalua area. It rained a lot when we were there but we didn't mind that. We drove the road to Hana twice and stopped at many beautiful spots along the way to explore waterfalls and hikes. The location was excellent for easily accessing that side of the Island. The unit was incredibly clean, there were bath robes and slippers in both bedrooms which was a nice touch. We were happy to find coffee beans waiting for us as we forgot to pick those up when we did our initial shopping at Costco. We enjoyed the coffee machine with the built in grinder. We are coffee people so this was a welcome touch for us. Coolers (several varieties), boogie boards, beach chairs - all provided and we used them for our day trips. Owners live upstairs but we didn't hear much noise from them and hardly even seen them our entire stay. As we were moving to the other side of the island after our stay we had perishables in the fridge that we needed to keep cool for more than 5 hours. Thought we may need to purchase a cooler or throw out some food, but the owner offered a generous extension on our checkout time which dovetailed nicely with the check in time at the second place and we were able to transfer all perishables without any food loss. Luxurious towels, good linens and bed sheets. Everything worked! Everything was clean! Lots of extras. The only one small thing I didn't like was the 24 hour surveillance sign on the patio outside. This place is secluded and private and that kind of made me feel like maybe we were being watched when we were out on the patio. Small thing and owner probably just keeping everything secure. And something to note and this is disclosed on the listing, the kitchen is not a full kitchen as there is no oven/stove. However a hot plate is provided and there is a barbeque outside. Overall this vrbo is excellent, owners attention to detail is evident everywhere. 5 full stars for this one!

A truly magical place for those looking to decompress and find peace. Waking to the singing birds, walking the grounds and picking fresh fruit, sitting on the lanai while a rainbow appears over the ocean and viewing thousands of stars fill the sky; what a blessing. In order for your hosts to offer this experience, there are rules that need to be followed. Quiet times to keep the neighbors happy, proper disposal of food to keep the bug population under control, consideration when using the air-conditioning so the owners won't need to have a surcharge, and being considerate of the occupants of the other rental unit. This isn't a criticism, just a fact and something to be considered for those who may find it restrictive. For day trips, you'll have a head start on the road to Hana. Hookipa Beach is very close where surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers abound. We saw turtles everyday on Kuau Beach near Paia. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Contactless check-in & out was easy and convenient. The property was very well kept, clean, and tranquil. The suite itself was very comfortable and clean. The only suggestion that I have is to place a toaster oven in the well-stocked kitchenette. Other than that, it was fantastic and I will highly recommend to others!

The Areca Suite without a doubt captures what I think of when I think Maui. You can have your take of the same ‘ol, same ‘ol beachfront high rise condos in Kihei or Lahaina, but the Areca Suite here in Haiku is truly a “have it all” kind of place. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood right near the start of the Hana Highway, from ocean views in the distance, the lush greenery all around from their palms and many other trees, this was the perfect home away from home for a week on Maui. Robert and Stephanie have thought of and provided everything you could need, and go out of their way to make your stay a peaceful and quiet one. The closest beaches are only a few minutes away, some amazing shopping and local eats within 10-15 minutes, and even the “furthest” reaches of Maui are just a bit over an hour out. Best of all, if the Road to Hana drive is on your “to do” list (which it should be!) the Areca suite will give you a great place to get a head start on your day. Loved our stay, and would stay again in a heartbeat!

This was a great location and space for our two families to have a great time near the road to Hana. We stayed at the unit up on the hill (plusses are AMAZING sunset and morning wake-up views) and our friends stayed at the stand-alone unit down the hill a bit. (Plusses for that unit are that you're a bit more removed, and there is an oven/range/dishawasher). Since the lower unit had the better set-up for cooking, we were able to have a lot of meals there, and then enjoy sunsets/morning coffees up top. Worked out great!

Robert & Stephanie were kind and excellent hosts. The Areca Suite is private and quiet with a view that made each meal we ate taste that much better! We've stayed in many rentals over the years and this one was, hands-down, the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Not even a hint of dust on top of the fridge. The Areca Suite is primed and ready for your Maui vacation, complete with beach chairs, cooler, umbrella, boogie boards and beach bag. All these items and the kitchenette meant we only had to 'bring ourselves' and do a bit of grocery shopping. Ha'Iku is on the North Shore and away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist resorts - which suited us very well. The Haiku Market and several food trucks were a few minutes away with Pa'Ia 10 minutes down the road. For cyclists, the Areca Suite is a great departure spot for a climb up Haleakala (Sea to Summit) or ride on the Road to Hana (recommend Ka'Anae Point stop and stretch). We would definitely stay with Robert & Stephanie again.

We’re basically happy with this house except one thing. The owner lived on the second floor of this 2-story building. He went into our room and turned off the air conditioner when we were out. He did this without asking our permission to go into our rooms. He did send a text message reminding me to turn off AC when I were out. It is totally unacceptable. Without my permission, he couldn’t get in my room.
