Amazing stay at the Honua Kai in Maui.
We are frequent visitors of Maui but typically stay at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. This time, we decided to try a condo property because we had family meeting us in Maui. This property did not disappoint. From the moment I booked the condo, the owners were magnificent. Their attention to detail, the description and pictures of the property were exactly as described on VRBO and the property was extra clean.
The owners were on top of every detail and the condo had everything and more we needed for our stay. I have stayed at many VRBO properties in the past, but have never experienced this type of five-star customer service from other properties and owners. As an example, my husband left his wedding ring on the counter and we didn't realize it until we were at the airport. Maureen and Rob were right on top of it. They called their cleaning team, the ring was recovered and they spent hours ensuring the ring arrived safely to our home.
If you are looking for a great condo on this side of the island, book it! You will enjoy the beautiful property, the beach, the pool, the restaurant and the view from your room. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay in this beautiful condo. Very clean well taken care of studio. We loved that there were beach chairs, boogie boards and coolers for us to use instead of having to buy or rent them. Maureen made sure we had everything we needed. She even had a gift basket waiting for us upon our arrival. We love the resort amenities and location as well. We stayed at this condo last month for our anniversary vacation. It was exactly as advertised. This condo is beautiful, clean and well-appointed. It was perfect for a couple. We had plenty of room for our belongings. We loved spending lazy mornings having coffee on the Lanai. The view from there is beautiful. We loved the resort and all the amenities. Maureen was so great at communicating with us before and during the trip. She checked in with us after we checked in to see if we needed anything. She has a great album in the condo with information about restaurants, tours and activities on the island. I highly recommend renting this unit. You won’t be disappointed. The only bad part was leaving after 10 days!

This property has everything you need. Resort location with tons of benefits, this studio serves as a hub for your island activities. Pools, store, restaurants all on site. Plus tons of great food options within a 5-10 minute drive. We used it as a place to rest after island adventures. Being our first time here we wanted to see it all. It was fabulous to “come home” to an oasis!
Studio is perfect for two, Clean, modern and everything in perfect operating condition. Plus, chairs, towels, bags, coolers, everything you may need but don’t bring on a vacation.
Only thing I would mention is you are not oceanfront, you can not hear the waves, so if that’s what you are looking for this may not be for you, however you can see the ocean through a court yard and past the pool.
The owners are kind and helpful! We had a wonderful experience!!! Worth it!!!

Maureen and Robert provided very nice beach chairs as well as boogie boards, a small cooler, and a cooler bag. Much to my surprise there were ice packs or blue ice in the freezer ready to use. This was an added bonus as we haven't had that provided before. They also had a wonderful welcome basket of coffee, local chocolate, and other items that we used! The welcome book provided was more extensive than any other I have seen, including the milkshakes at the Burger Shack at Fleming Beach - a must if you visit! Overall, you cannot go wrong staying here! We would definitely stay here again should we visit Maui in the future! Highly recommend!

315 Konea Tower lived up to all the promises and even surpassed our expectations during our stay in June 2022! Maureen and Robert have done a great job of keeping the condo updated and stocked with everything you need- from kitchen supplies, beach gear (chairs, umbrella & snorkel gear), and even a smaller cooler & ice pack. The view from the condo was great- my wife and I enjoyed our early mornings and late evenings on the lanai! Even though this is a studio it was perfect for our needs and never felt cramped during our 10-day stay. We enjoyed the various pools, gas grills, beach access, Duke's restaurant & more offered by this amazing resort. We typically try to go to new places when we get the opportunity to travel; and after 25 years of marriage there are only a couple places that make our list of places we'd definitely return to- and this one has been added to that list! If you've already decided this is the resort you want but are still debating between which unit to select- book with Maureen and Robert! The personal touch they offer is amazing- from tips ranging from where to get groceries, the best farmer's market, restaurant reservations and places to explore. Everything in the condo is neatly labeled and the communication with Maureen was great starting after our initial booking all the way through to our last day. We couldn't have asked for anything better! Mahalo!

We loved our stay at Honua Kai, and Maureen and Robert have a perfect spot. Well built place meant that you don't hear neighbors coming and going at all hours, and the morning sits on the lanai are perfect with the coffee they included for us. Some of the other guests you might run into at the resort may act entitled and snobby, but just ignore them and go spend more time with the locals who spread the aloha.

Honua Kai was a delightful place to spend our 50th wedding anniversary!! The owners kept us informed throughout the process on what to expect at the resort and amenities in the room. They also provided dining suggestions, so we could make reservations prior to our arrival. It was so helpful! The condo unit was just what we needed. It was well furnished and stylishly decorated. We loved having the washer and dryer in our unit with cleaning pods provided! Our owners even extended our checkout a few hours, allowing us to enjoy our last day a few more hours! This location is amazing! Close to everything, the view is breathtaking. Short walk to the beach, nice pool and close to other restaurants and bars - can certainly have the true Hawaii experience! This studio unit is about as ideal as it gets. Perfect location, and at this time of year (Feb/March) a perfect sunset from the lanai- although we only saw it on the beach or on the water, the weather was too perfect.
From our beginning conversations with Maureen months ago right up to our final day, she was so pleasant and helpful and made it impossible to find fault with how easy it was to enjoy this slice of paradise.
We wanted for nothing, everything we possibly could need was there from coffee to beach chairs. It was planned right at Feb/Mar to see the peak of whale season and it did not disappoint, the ocean was like glass and not a drop of rain and 82 degrees everyday.
Everyone around us was pleasant and also in need of time away and we met several really great folks at the pool and at Dukes (on several occasions...sometimes a couple of times a day)!
Wonderful hosts and a really great unit, thank you for making our belated birthdays and whale appointments go so spectacular.

Honua Kai is a beautiful resort property, and this studio unit was perfect for our visit. The unit had upgraded furnishings and all of the amenities we could want. The owners also had great communication which helped us to understand logistics and how to use all of the features on the property.

Cleanliness - We could tell that the cleaners did a thorough job of cleaning the condo. It smelled fresh, and it was very welcoming from the first time we entered the condo. In addition, Maureen and Robert keep everything very well organized.
Check-in process - Maureen provided great instructions regarding the check in process which was smooth. It is very nice that Honua Kai uses waterproof wristbands as the room key - no need to keep track of a key card at the pool or beach!
Accuracy of online listing - The condo was even better than described! From the pictures to the other travelers’ reviews, we were excited that their condo was available for the week we were looking at.
Communication with property manager - Maureen was always quick to respond to emails and texts. From the time we made our reservation to checking in on us during our trip to post-vacation follow-up, she was always easily accessible and very helpful.
Location and neighborhood - Honua Kai’s location on Maui is excellent. We decided to spend about half of our days exploring the island and sightseeing, and we wanted to make sure we saved some time to enjoy the pools and beach at the resort as well. Honua Kai is located directly on Kaanapali Beach, and a boardwalk connects to various other resorts south of Honua Kai. A food truck park is nearby as well. There was a local pop-up market that was located on the boardwalk a couple of days during the week we were there. There are so many pool options to choose from, and it is easy to walk out to the beach to enjoy all the picturesque views as well! Maureen and Robert provided beach chairs, towels, and a big beach bag which was so helpful! Duke’s Restaurant is on the property as well - their servers go around to the pool areas during the day to take food and drink orders, and they take Apple Pay, so we didn’t even need to bring cash or our wallet to the pool. The drive from Honua Kai to other parts of the island was easy (and the views on the drive were amazing!). Valet was not available due to Covid-19, and the parking garage filled up fast, but street parking was available at the resort as well.
Overall rating - Maureen and Robert have a wonderful condo with a perfect location! We went to Hawaii for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. Maureen and Robert’s condo was the perfect place to call home for the week. If you’re looking for a place to stay, look no further and book Maureen and Robert’s condo now!

Our experience in this property and with its host was perfect in every way. The condo is pristine. Seriously, it lives like a brand new place. Everything was clean and spotless and there were plenty of unexpected extras available (e.g. nice beach stuff, stocked kitchen, etc.). We loved the view and enjoyed relaxing on the lanai. The grounds themselves are also well cared for and inviting.
Our hosts were conscientious and genuinely cared about our stay in their condo. Throughout their correspondence, it felt like they wanted us to have a great time as much as we did! They provided thorough instructions for everything in the condo and offered many recommendations for restaurants as well as things to see and do. They responded to all of my questions quickly. We have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, and I would say they are the best hosts we have encountered.

First... Location, Location, Location! The resort has everything you need to enjoy your island trip. Multiple pools with wonderful staff ready to bring you your cocktail of choice. Easy and quick access to the beach. Dukes Restaurant and Bar on the property and a great cafe.
The property itself was equipped with EVERYTHING you could need! The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, coffee pot, toaster, stove, microwave, full-sized fridge etc. The bathroom has two sinks, a huge tub, and a fantastic shower that had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, and a makeup mirror. The bed was super comfy and waking up every morning to a perfect Hawaiian view was the best way to start the day. We also loved having our on their lanai overlooking the ocean.
Lastly, Maureen and Robert were so great to deal with. Their quick responses to any questions and tips for activities and restaurants were spot on. We can't recommend this place enough.

First off, I cannot say enough nice things about this property. Everything is clean, inviting and just overall BEAUTIFUL. The owners of this unit are wonderful to work with and are super sweet and responsive. The unit has a beautiful view and a lovely balcony which was so nice to wake up to in the morning. The beach at this property is also absolutely stunning!! Like I said before, I can not recommend this place more!! A big thank you to Maureen (the owner) who made this booking process so seamless and easy!

We really enjoyed our stay in this unit at Honua Kai! The resort is in a great location and the unit is very nice. Lots of thoughtful extras (beach chairs, umbrella, boogie board etc.). Would definitely stay at again!

From the very beginning, Maureen and Robert have been wonderful. They were so communicative and helpful from booking all the way through the end of the stay. Honua Kai is the perfect balance of in-condo amenities like a full-kitchen without sacrificing the feel of being at a resort. The unit was clean and well-appointed, directions for care were very clear, and any questions we had were answered quickly.
As far as Maui/Honua Kai- it was definitely busy and at times crowded. Not surprising as post-COVID tourism. If you’re going for a quiet , adults-only stay, this is probably not your place. But if you’re up for an adventure or have a kid or two with you, you’ll have a ton of fun here! We often used our beach chairs to lay out in the grassier areas by the pool rather than having to fight it out for a pool chair. Security never seemed to have an issue with it and it worked great! Duke’s- the on-site restaurant was probably our fave of the whole stay, and that beats out even some of Maui’s most legendary spots. Highly recommend.

Parking is included, which is huge in Kaanapali. You have a view of the ocean, the location is perfect, close to my favorite snorkeling spots on Maui. I highly recommend.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience staying at this fantastic property. The location was perfect for accessing the beach, shops, delicious food trucks and restaurants, and getting in a scenic jog or bike ride! Not only did we enjoy a beautiful view of the ocean and courtyard, the property was fully stocked with fun things to enjoy (puzzles, binoculars, inflatable tubes, flippers, snorkeling masks, beach chairs..the works)! I especially enjoyed the communication with Maureen, the owner. She was so incredibly helpful, warm and welcoming. Her level of hospitality blew me away and am totally in awe of her kindness and care for her guests. I would be back to book another stay in a heartbeat! Incredible experience across the board!

This is a wonderful unit to choose for your stay at the Honua Kai! Maureen is the best and checked in with us to make sure we were able to find everything we needed. This is the 3rd unit I have stayed in personally at the Honua Kai - and it was the absolute cleanest. Everything you need is right here. We ate breakfast on the lanai, used the barbeques often for dinners, and just enjoyed the view of the ocean. It was truly everything we hoped for and more! We loved our stay and can't wait to come back again to snorkel and just relax. This is true Paradise!

We stayed in this terrific studio condo for 10 days, Nov 25 - Dec 4. The condo is well appointed with everything you need. It is spacious for a couple, has a large bathroom and a great Lanai. The bathroom is modern, clean and spacious. Parking is very close and the small but well equipped gym is perfect for a morning workout. The complex is quiet in the evenings. The Times grocery store is right across the main road and the Fish Market is just down the road and has Terrific baha tacos and cooked jumbo shrimp or fresh fish, shrimp to BBQ! The beach right out front is narrow but there is lots of great beach just a few steps down. The boardwalk is wonderful for a morning walk or jog and Black Rock is not too far, including great shopping at Whalers Village. Overall this condo suited us perfectly and we would highly recommend for a couple who appreciate comfort and convenience in a quality setting! There are lots of instructions left for visitors and recommendations too. Clearly the owners take great pride in their condo! Hope to be fortunate enough to return someday! Maholo!

What an amazing rental unit! We have been planning this trip for a long time and it finally came to fruition. I looked all over Maui to find the right place and finally picked Konea! The owners were very helpful and the unit is immaculate. The amenities on property were perfect and we took advantage of most of them. There were 3 of us in our party, 2 adults and a teenager. We had plenty of room for us all.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we can't wait to go back in 2018!

The condo is everything that you would expect and then some! The amenities and activities on the resort are worthy enough of a 5 day stay if you don't have activities planned out on the island but if you do, the location of the home is a relaxing drive down the coastline to wherever you need to go. The condo is equipped with everything that you will need and the concierge staff that Robert and Maureen have in place will make all the arrangements that you need leaving you worry free and ready to fully digest everything that Maui has to offer. Robert and Maureen treated us like family and we will definitely visit again as well as recommend this home to all of our friends and family.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful Maui home with us. This condo is beautiful, clean, and provided many useful items for our vacation - beach towels, chairs, cooler, were much appreciated. The Guide to Maui book was our bible for the week! We had so much fun exploring every coast of Maui. The Road to Hana was simply breathtaking and should not be missed. Sitting on the balcony watching both sunrises and sunsets was wonderful. Honua Kai is well kept and has a great restaurant on the property. The only drawback was that the beach is very small, although walking down the beach walk will get you to bigger beaches. Being first time visitors to Maui we were unprepared for the amount of wind that is present here almost all day, therefore we didn't spend anytime on this beach and drove to more sheltered locations. One afternoon at the pool, but again, too windy to read or relax. We are from Chicago so we are very used to wind - chicago's wind has nothing on Maui! The only reason that we did not give this property 5 stars has nothing to do with the unit. Because of the location of this resort, being about a 40 minute walk to Whaler's village and the main hotel area of Kanaapali, we feel that some sort of shuttle or courtesy van should have been available to guests during their stay. Anytime we wanted to leave the property we had to fight for parking and often had to pay for it. This got old very quickly, especially when going out for dinner when walking wasn't an option. Transportation to/from Whaler's Village and Lahaina would have made this a much more pleasurable stay and may have helped alleviate the terrible traffic on the roads. We thought we were going during the off season, however were told by the locals that there is no longer an off season in Maui! So much to see and do, but the traffic is def. a problem. All in all a wonderful vacation despite the driving!

My partner and I just returned from spending 7 days at this property and were completely satisfied. We have typically stayed at 5 star resort properties on the island and this particular unit was by far better than any hotel we have yet to stay at. The unit itself has sliding doors which disappear for a full indoor, outdoor experience allowing the ocean breezes from the deck into the room. The kitchen was well appointed with granite counter tops, all the utensils needed for cooking and the furnishings were modern and stylish. The bed had high end linens and the bathroom features a separate shower and bath tub with dual sink and quality towels. The unit also features a washer/dryer unit and even has boogie boards and beach chairs for your pleasure. We particularly enjoyed the location of this unit in the building which is away from the noisy pool area but still offered a beautiful garden and partial ocean view. Honua Kai Resort is close to many restaurants and activities which made it easy to spend the day either shopping, zip lining or simply going to the beach. Having Duke's restaurant adjacent to the pool area made it nice for an early evening happy hour or occasional meal. The gym is very well appointed and was never crowded which made our daily workout easy and efficient. The staff at this property were particularly helpful and always in good spirit. This resort never feels overcrowded and offers easy parking underneath the hotel or outside in an adjacent lot. There is valet service at the front entrance too which made it easy for our family to load up and go on our many outings. This vacation was by far one of the most relaxing and comfortable due to this lovely property. I highly recommend a stay at Honua Kai-Konea Resort in this particular unit.

We just left Maui and we already miss it! This unit was fantastic but that isn't what makes it great! Maureen was wonderful to chat with and respond to questions. We flew in on a day when a wildfire was burning in West Maui. The concierge service that the owners work with went above and beyond. With the only road and communications cut off Candice was there to meet us 11 hours later. The friendly call from Maureen the next day to make sure we made it was even better!

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in this amazing condo for a week to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The location is PERFECT, and the views from the Lanai are just amazing! We loved using the kitchen (cooked over 50% of our meals during our stay), and enjoyed breakfast and dinner on the Lanai. The hospitality from Robert and Maureen was so nice, and Candice greeted us upon arrival and showed us the condo. Duke's restaurant on site is AMAZING, happy hour everyday from 3-5, the best calamari we've ever had, and really yummy food! We loved the pool, and snorkel gear & paddleboards are available on-site which was so convenient! We loved walking along Kaanapali beach from the resort, or along the pathway that goes behind the beach along all of the Kaanapali properties (however, Honua Kai was definitely the best). If you are looking for the perfect spot for 2 to enjoy a romantic time in Maui, you MUST book this condo! We can't wait to return!

The view from the balcony was gorgeous, not only could we see the whole resort, but the ocean as well. Fellow vacationers at the resort were polite and there were no rooms that were too loud, even when we were out on the balcony enjoying the view. The place itself was very clean and well kept, with the drawers clearly labeling everything that it held (which came in handy when it was time to put everything back). Duke's Restaurant was the main restaurant that we would go to. It was a short walk from the room, the happy hour was amazing, the food was great (and there was plenty of it), and there were live performances that entertained us to no end. I personally would highly recommend going on a snorkel cruise via the Hula Girl, I cannot even begin to describe all the creatures that we saw while we were out in the water. We were very grateful that we were able to stay in such a beautiful place, and cannot wait until we can visit again.
