We had a great experience staying at Jon’s place. It is suitable for family vacation with small kids. Kids love playing in the tropical gardens of the complex and enjoys the swimming pools/playing sands on the beach.

Absolutely loved this place! When we arrived it was nice and clean inside, and hidden in the back so it was nice and private. Beach was just a short beautiful walk down the path. The property opens into a gorgeous beach that was perfect for our kids 18, 16, 12 to go play in, and turtles always near the rocks! This was a perfect condo for our family!!

Easy entry and helpful manager next door. The kitchen was very well stocked with good cooking equipment. We really appreciated the very nice beach chairs, umbrella, and cooler with ice packs. We used them every day. The bedrooms get a bit warm, but there are ceiling fans and box fans to help out. We enjoyed listening to the ocean waves in the evening at the complex. The complex itself is really well maintained. The grills, laundry, tables and chairs are well kept.

The property is beautiful, right next to parking and the on the beach it made loading and unloading easy. It is quiet, comfortable, and a little secluded from all the tourists areas, every time we went swimming we almost had a big piece of the beach to ourselves, and the salt water pool was also warm and very enjoyable everyday. Relaxing on the patio was a awesome place to end our days from the beach. Jon was very responsive to all our needs and helped us out with any issues we had .Overall, our visit was amazing and we definitely look forward to visiting again. Thank You

We had the most amazing trip for our first time in Maui. Jon was an excellent host and this spot is fantastic. Walk right to the beach from the property. Located between 2 towns so you have options on activities. Highly recommend staying here if you are a small group and want a fantastic visit.

Great location, last Condos on dead end road. Near Maui Aquarium, easy drive anywhere. Right on ocean, salt water pool. On site managers amazing, we loved the crowing roosters! If you go where they live, expect and enjoy it. Easy parking lot, grounds always clean and mowed, just planted more foliage

Makani a kai was the perfect home base for our 6 day stay in Maui. Easily found, check in was a breeze. Very comfortable 2 bedroom, clean and on a lovely quiet beach . The few issues were quickly resolved by the next door manager.

Great little place. Beds were comfy. Super easy access to the beach. Small pool that was mostly unoccupied. Only downfall was the laundry is not in the unit as I originally thought. The laundry hours changed and they now close at 7pm which is early for someone on vacation. We ended up going to a laundrymat instead. The unit included some beach equipment (chairs, boogie boards, although in bad shape, beach towels). The pool was clean and mostly a good temp. The property manager lives right next door. The upstairs occupants were SOOO LOUD. It sounded like they were dragging furniture across the floor and hitting the floor with a bat and this went on throughout the night. Not sure if they live there or are renting for a vacation.

Perfect little retreat for our family. The location is great, right on a beautiful beach that goes for miles. Banana trees around the condo. Good central location for everything we wanted to see and do. The owner was quick to respond and let us have a later check out because of our late flight. The only thing is the beds are full sized and not queens. Would definitely stay here again.

This was a great place to stay! Tropical and a great location to explore the whole island! Jon was great to work with! I misread the add and thought from the pictures that it was beach front. But it was very close to walk to. My only real complaint (that has nothing to do with Jon) the laundry paying system is very temperamental. You have to run from the laundry place back to the condo to get internet to make it work. So I hope they at least change their system or go back to coin operation. Other than that one little thing, we loved staying here! Mahalo!🌺😎

We stayed for 11 nights and benefited from the central location as we sought to see Maui. The place is comfortable. Like all downstairs units there was periodic noise overhead. No stairs to climb though.
Great beach that extends past the half mile we usually walked down it. No development on this stretch which is unique and nice.
Host was extremely kind to allow us a late checkout, as we had a 8 PM flight.

Great location if you are visiting different areas of the island. Unit is well equipped. Owner easy to reach and accommodating. We were surprised by the consistent wind - but actually appreciated it as it kept the temperature very comfortable.

Steps from the beach! This property had everything our family needed or wanted. Wonderful location...a bit off the beaten path so not real bust or touristy but with a 10-15 minute drive of everything we wanted to do! So glad we chose Maui and this property for a wonderful, beautiful and relaxing vacation. Jon was wonderful with communication!

Overall, the property was very nice!. The beach was not very occupied each day, so provided for a nice relaxing vacation without overcrowding. The property is a little far from anything as far as grocery stores, restaurants or shops. Definitely need to have a rental car if staying here. We enjoyed the less busy area though!
A couple improvements would be:
-more towels, due to the handicap accessible bathroom, the entire master bath floor gets soaked with showers
-more linens, it got a little chilly at night and rooms only came with a top sheet
-cleanliness, the sofa couch was dirty when we arrived and there were quite a few spider webs and dust.
The beds, pillows and sheets were very comfortable and nice and the condo had everything we needed as far as kitchen ware and they provided 4 beach towels and chairs which were a must have and appreciated!

The location of this VRBO was wonderful. Accurate listing, great communication with host, and there were lots of thoughtful amenities - coffee filters, beach supplies, etc. The property was a wonderful value and I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it. Only complaint is there is one small AC unit in the living room that doesn’t really make it all the way to the bedrooms, so even in January they got pretty warm and stuffy.

This condo is located in the Makani A Kai complex, which is very quite and well maintained. Our kids love the swim pool. This first floor condo has very convenient access, and beautiful garden view. It is only 150 meters walk to the beach in Haycraft Park. We enjoyed our stay in this lovely condo!

We loved the location! The condo is at the end of a row of condos and on a beach that abuts a nature preserve. From the beach in back of the condo we could walk several miles on the beach with no other buildings and not a lot of people. Heading the other way, the marina, a shopping area with restaurants, and the ocean center were also within walking distance. Even though the unit is on the side away from the beach, it was only about 100 steps to the beach entrance from our door. It was great having a cooler with cold packs, beach chairs and beach towels available. The condo itself was clean and the beds very comfortable. It was wavy on the beach during our stay so snorkeling visibility wasn't good right at the condo but we did see turtles there. It is also aconvenient starting point for trips to Lahina, Haekala volcano, and the road to Hana. One negative- we did frequently hear noise from planes overhead, but that didn't bother us much. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Maui!

Had a great time. Comfortable and quiet (except for the rooster crowing right outside the room at 4:44 every morning; and then add and on till the after the sun came up). Enjoyed getting up at the crack of dawn to enjoy the sunrise. Would stay again, Jon was very easy to work with.

We could not have been more pleased with this rental. Jon was an amazing host and responded to any and all questions we posed. When we were looking for a place for ourselves and another couple, we wanted it in this area as typically my husband and I stay in studio units by ourselves but in this area.
With another couple we needed a 2 bed/2bath place and gosh this was PERFECT. The condo unit is the best on island in my opinion and this unit is just want we needed, clean, spacious, perfectly stocked. We ONLY needed air turned on the first night as we arrived but after that the breeze going through was enough to keep the place comfortable. Though there was a tv we rarely turned it on, though we did appreciate the internet. The kitchen had all the supplies we needed including nice plastic glasses we could use outside on the BBQ area.
I just can not thank Jon enough for letting us rent his magical unit. If you need a place for 4 adults (and possibly a child?) this is your place!

This property was just fine for the 4 of us.
Pros - location, convenient to everything on the island, ground floor very near parking area, unit conveniently located near the ocean, bananas from the banana tree located on the property. We never had a reason the speak to Jon, but the property manager was very friendly and helpful.
Cons - there was no air conditioning in the bedrooms and they were very hot and stuffy, especially after showering, only 2 towel sets for each bathroom, chairs inside and out were very uncomfortable, no washer/dryer.

Aloha! Everything was as advertised! Great place! Friendly office manager next door! We paid for a snorkeling excursion early on in our trip.... and later decided to snorkel right in front of our condo. We saw way more turtles in front of the condo! They were everywhere! So fun!

From the moment we arrived our trip was perfect. We had everything we needed to get in and ready to go. The rooms are spacious, bathroom with roll in shower perfect! Beach chairs, towels, and everything we needed and wanted for the beach were available. We had a fabulous 2 weeks and we weren’t ready to leave! Mahalo

Picture on unit made it seem as though the unit was literally right there looking out at the water. The unit was at the far end of the building. If you were sitting on the lanai, you cannot see the ocean however if you stood up you could see it. Overall it was a beautiful place to stay just a matter of walking around to the other side of the building to access the beach and the beautiful views.

Excellent place to stay while in Maui! Was central to everything but yet in a quiet location and right on the beach. We had everything we needed and then some extras were provided (beach chairs, boogie boards, food tote, beach mat and umbrellas, recycle bags). Great communication with the host!! Would definitely stay here again if return to Maui!!!
