We're sorry to have to leave this review - we looked forward to this vacation for months and the property looks so beautiful online; the host was incredibly responsive and the stay seemed like it would be perfect.
Unfortunately there was a severe insect infestation at the house. The night we arrived, after putting children to sleep, I was walking in the kitchen and received a severe bite on my foot. I had no idea what bit me at the time; there was excessive bleeding, pain and swelling and multiple small puncture marks. Since we didn't know where the bite came from we headed to the emergency room where they were able to treat me and let me know the bite was probably from a scorpion or centipede.
Meanwhile at the home my husband and children had found innumerable other insects on the walls, ceilings and floor. We immediately contacted the homeowner and she promised to treat the property the next day. We didn't have many options so rented a hotel room for the kids and we stayed that night.
Long story short, after two exterminator treatments we continued to find insects and the final straw came the next day when we found a large worm crawling on my son's pajamas. That was enough and I let the homeowner know that we did not feel safe staying; she let me know checkout was 11am.
This home was not safe or comfortable. Do yourself a favor and rent directly through Mauna Kea resort, they would have refunded our money or found a nice place for us to stay. Lesson learned.

This was by far the best VRBO rental we’ve ever had. The property is well maintained and fully stocked with everything you need. Loved the view, pool, hot tub and outdoor showers! Would definitely stay again and highly recommend this property. Michelle the owner was very nice and easy to work with and very responsive. Such a great property!

Perfect for our 3 generations of family stay. GREAT COMMUNICATION FROM HOST!!! loved having the kitchen stocked with so many cooking supplies, condiments and snacks. The views are beautiful and the two master suites were a huge plus. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful, spacious residence for a Big Island vacation for 2 families of 4. Easy access to Mauna Kea Beach and all the facilities. Fantastic service and communication with the hosts. Amazing grill and outdoor dining area + pool/hot tub. So nice to have space and not have to eat every meal at the hotel. Can't wait to come back

This house and booking were managed really well. This is the nicest VRBO we've ever stayed in. It's a beautiful home with two master bedrooms. Very well-stocked. We cooked most every meal and were able to find everything we needed in the kitchen. On some days, the weather was perfect and we opened up the sliding doors to the view of the ocean and the volcano. At night we gazed at the stars from the hot tub. We had a great time and loved this house. This was a really special time for our family. If I had to name some drawbacks, they would have nothing to do with the house itself. It would be that you truly cannot get anywhere without a car from this location and Ubers are not easily available this far north.

This rental home was perfect for our family of 6: grandparents, parents, 2 kids. The home feels very luxurious with a view of the ocean, private dipping pool with hot tub, 2 master suites. Loved the outdoor showers attached to the 2 master bathrooms. The amenities were wonderful: the local Rec center had a great workout space + infinity pool with hot tub and the resort access to both Hapuna and Mauna Kea hotels was great. The daily resort fee allowed us easy parking at the hotels. I highly recommend this vrbo!

We just got back from the most amazing week on the Big Island! This house was just perfect in every way! Gorgeous view and setting in a great location. The house was immaculate and extremely well organized. We enjoyed staying in and cooking some meals at the house, and the kitchen had everything you could need! To reiterate what previous reviewers have said, Michelle and Shelley were wonderful, and extremely attentive and helpful with any needs that come up prior to or during your stay. We enjoyed the beautiful pool every day and it was so nice to have at the house. We purchased the Mauna Kea resort pass and it was so worth it. The beach there is one of the prettiest I have ever seen! My husband and son loved playing golf at both properties, but the Mauna Kea golf course is remarkable. Our stay on the Big Island was magical and we feel so fortunate to have been able to rent this beautiful home! We hope to come back soon!

“Wow!!” Is the first word that came to our minds when we walked into this vacation home. It is better than the pictures you see here. The view is incredible! We didn’t want to leave the lanai with the beautiful pool and hot tub area. The home is completely stocked with everything you need for a stress-free vacation. We loved how organized everything is! Michelle and Shelley go above and beyond before, during and after your stay to make sure you have everything you need. They are a joy to work with. We have stayed in vacation homes all across the US and this is by far the nicest, cleanest and most organized. Don’t hesitate for a second and rent this beautiful home. You won’t regret it!

I've stayed at around 10 different luxury Hawaii places over this years. This villa was amazing. Everything was immaculate (including inside the drawers, washer and dryer), everything was labeled, everything was fully stocked including kitchen cooking accessories and condiments. They have thought of everything you could need. The pool and hot tub were an amazing amenity. It was fun that both master and jr master bedrooms had outdoor showers which we enjoyed so much. The beds, furnishings were excellent and so comfortable. The garage was stocked with boogie boards, toys and everything we could need for fun beach outings. We didn't want to leave. Michelle and Shelley (prop manager) so responsive to all requests. We loved the privacy of the unit, how well built and so quiet inside and in the community. It felt so peaceful there. Lots of fun golfing at a big discount from Michelle's platinum membership was a great perk. We can't wait to go back and appreciate the memorable stay and all the thought that went into the villa and amenities.

Our family of four really enjoyed staying at Michelle’s home. It’s the perfect spot to relax after hitting the beach, hiking or simply exploring the Island. The property is quiet, beautifully landscaped, has a great ocean view and a large lenai - perfect for having a Kona Big Wave or two. As others have noted, Michelle and her local property manager, Shelley
and husband Dennis, quickly responded with any questions we had. Additionally, the property, which has a large kitchen with each drawer labeled, was very clean and well stocked with paper products/laundry detergent. There are four body boards and a cooler for day trips in the garage. Finally, we highly recommend paying the resort feegiving you access to the Mauna Kea and Hapuna resorts. Well worth the cost. We would definitely stay at Michelle’s home the next time we return to the Big Island.

Our family of five had a wonderful time at this spacious, luxurious, well appointed and well maintained home above Hapuna and Mauna Kea. It was very private and had a lovely view of the ocean. Michelle was wonderful to work with and very responsive. We enjoyed cooking on the high end appliances, relaxing in the pool and enjoying the extra package that granted access to all the hotel amenities. But if we hadn’t purchased that, the home provided beach chairs, coolers and umbrella. We did have a lot of fun using boogie boards at the beach.! Thanks Michelle for a delightful week! We will return.

We had two families on our vacation—mine and my friends’ family—and this house was perfect. There was enough space for four adults and three children. The home was well stocked with toiletries, towels, kitchen supplies, games, etc., and the pool was just perfect. The kids swam everyday, while we lounged and took in the ocean view. The owner and the property manager were very communicative, accommodating, and friendly. We added the resort package to go to the Hapuna and Mauna Kea, which I highly recommend. We had lunch on the beach everyday. This house was just amazing. You will not be disappointed!

Our family of 6 adults had a tremendous time at Michelle's villa in Wai'ula'ula. It is wonderfully laid out for 3 couples with great space both inside and out. The lanai is huge and significantly expands on the interior spaces. Plus, the hot tub and small pool were welcomed places to gather after a day of activities.
The villa is very well equipped, particularly in the kitchen -- which is unusually well stocked and equipped for most any cook. The provided supplies (paper goods, etc.) were plentiful and easily accessible. Items for the beach (boogie boards, some games, etc.) were a great addition to our time in the surf and sand. The house, including the garage, was spotless and well organized.
The villa's location is extremely conveniently located for those who want the added space for friends or family gatherings and also want proximity to and the services of 2 great resorts (when 1 would be more than sufficient!).
Lastly, Michelle and the on-island property manager were tremendous resources before and during our stay. They were both accessible and prompt to respond to inquiries.
I would heartily recommend Michelle's place for those who want to take advantage of the many services offered at a resort while having more space to accommodate more people and more "at-home-like" gatherings and activities. You won't be disappointed!

We arrived at this lovely house on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The drive from the airport was easy and we picked up groceries on the way. The house was ready for us when we arrived including a perfect sunset. The house is very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. Lots of space with three suites for all of our guests - there were 5 of us. The pool and spa on the lanai are a great place to hang out in the morning with your coffee or during the day or in the evening for the sunset. It is also a wonderful house to come home to after being out all day! Overall, we loved the house! Hawaii is already great but the house was an added bonus that made for a perfect stay.

Michelle was super helpful and patient with our questions (and concerns due to covid). The local property manager, Shelly, was really nice and very responsive. Hands down the nicest property my family has ever stayed at. Lots of space to relax and unwind, and all the necessary gear and gadgets to make great meals at home. The amenities package for the resorts offered convenient access to 2 of the nicest beaches on the island, plus great pools, towel service, umbrellas, chairs. Overall a terrific experience. Only downside was having to leave at the end.

Home perfectly met the needs for our family of 5. It was exactly as described and pictured. Outdoor space was incredible with lots of seating, pool, and hot tub. We enjoyed the ocean views during the day and stars at night. Location is great and, for $75/day, you get guest privileges at the two beachfront hotels. We snorkeled and paddle boarded at the Mauna Kea beach one day and golfed at the Hapauna course - great course and ocean views from many holes made for a great round. Michelle was the perfect host, always communicating the steps we needed to take to prepare for the trip. If we make it back to the Big Island, we will definitely try to stay here again.
