The view is outstanding. The kitchen has been updated and the bathroom has had periodic updating but is dated in style. Old cabinets. Biggest letdown was NO A/C. The unit was unbearable to sit in most of the day due to heat and humidity. The trade winds do nothing to cool off the unit but rather just let more heat and humidity in. This unit NEEDS some a/c for the summer stay. Unit is located at the end (hood) however above the pool and outside grills and tables which is where everyone comes to congregate at night so if you want quiet time, this is not for you (especially from the pool). We booked our stay based on the View and advertised Luxurious remodel. Outside of an average quality updating of the kitchen, nothing was remodeled and definitely not luxurious. By the way, next door has older bungalows with dogs chained up 24/7 and barking all day. We would never book this stay again. With the cost of this unit, there are numerous other higher quality, quiet places to stay that will also provide a/c. Hope this helps the next guy, I wish I had known.

Wow. Just Wow. The place is utterly perfect. We were blown away by the view when we opened the door. We did not want for anything. We have stayed in several condos in the Honokawai area and this one is the star. Walking distance to the grocery store (great faux chicken salad/dill potato salad/acai bowls), coffee shop, as well as the Honokawai State Beach Park.
The unit is very clean, sporting a large lanai with all the different types of lounging chairs (and a chaise!) you could want. The living room is spacious with a beautiful largeTV screen and comfy sofa. A well stocked kitchen (with coffee filters!) that provided everything we needed for a simple meal. Bedroom was quite nice with a strong AC unit and built-in TV for relaxing. Bathroom spacious and lovely. All in all a perfect stay!

This VRBO unit at Hale Mahina was a wonderful experience. The condo was perfectly clean and was furnished with all of the necessities and comforts of home. The lanai offered unobstructed views and, amazingly, we watched Humpback whales breach and turtles coming ashore as we enjoyed the view from the spacious lanai. The proximity to the oceanside beach allowed us to also enjoy the relaxing sounds of the surf. We even managed to get good snorkeling in without having to drive to more popular and crowded beach locations. The host, Sandy, took personal care to ensure our visit and stay in her Maui home met all of our needs and expectations. The caretaker, Larry, ensured the common grounds, pool, hot tub and barbeques were never neglected and his gardens were in spectacular bloom. The visit in one word was 'magical'. Our stay at this VRBO unit exceeded our expectations in every way. We look forward to a return visit soon. Many Mahalos, Sandy!

This property was amazing! It had everything we could possibly need for a beach day. We felt like we were at a home away from home, it was so comfortable and everything we needed was provided in the condo. The views from the balcony are amazing! We saw an amazing sunset and even saw whales. The property where the condo is located is very well taken care of. I can not say enough good things about this place. The owner was easy to communicate and very accommodating. We would recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandy’s home away from home! The funky vibe fit our taste and made the stay fun. We saw whales spouting from the lanai and turtles swimming below. We even snorkeled 100 yards north of the unit and joined a green sea turtle while he was eating dinner. The location was excellent for enjoying really good snorkeling north of there and all the historical sites nearby. Everything was as expected. Thanks for sharing your Maui home, Sandy!

My husband and I stayed in this wonderful unit 2/28-03/06, and everything was exceptional. The view from the lanai is even better than the photos. We could see whales from the lanai daily which was a real treat, and while the snorkeling out front isn't amazing, we did see some fish and more excitingly several turtles in the water, and the sunset is just exquisite. The kitchen is well appointed with a full set of pots and pans, cooking utensils, coffee pot with flat bottom filters, tupperware, pyrex dishes, cutting boards, and basic spices. The king size bed is ridiculously comfortable, and the addition of a portable AC unit in the bedroom meant the temp was always very comfortable. The Samsung smart TV has all the major streaming services as well as broadcast TV with great instructions for set-up, and there are beach chairs, boogie boards, and pool noodles to make exploring the beach that much more enjoyable. Do be sure to bring your own shampoo/conditioner or plan to purchase some once you arrive. This location was perfect for walking to the Farmer's Market for Acai bowls, Bad Ass Coffee for a morning cup of joe, Miss Arepa for delicious lunch, and down to the water to watch the sea turtles lounging in the sand. We found a lot more vegetarian food on the island this time, with some favorite spots including China Boat, Down the Hatch, The Gazebo, and Moku Roots. If this unit is available, do yourself a favor and book it right now. We will 100% be returning to what is now our favorite spot to stay in Maui.

We loved this condo. It’s nicely updated and the views are amazing. It rained most of the week while were were there but we were still able to look for whales while staying dry inside. The turtles on the beach were an unexpected bonus. We’ll be back, hopefully with better weather!

The condo has been upgraded with nice appliances and the bathroom is very nice.
Why anyone would stay in one of the overpriced hotels nearby is a mystery!

My husband and I enjoyed the property tremendously. Sandy bent over backwards to make sure our needs were met. We were able to sit on the lanai and enjoy watching the whales and a few turtles on the beach. Lahaina is a great place to visit. The view was spectacular!

The view is beautiful!! It was so breathtaking. We would just set on the deck and look at the ocean. The only thing is, we thought the total unit was air conditioned. It was really hot and muggy. It very difficult to get ready in a bathroom when it is hot in there! Other then that we loved it! Location is great.

Everything was awesome. Couldn’t ask for a better location to celebrate our 41st anniversary! You’re steps from a sandy beach that feels like it only belongs to you! The snorkeling is very good right in front of the unit… the fish are beautiful and we also saw turtles everyday. There is a beautiful view of Molokai and Lanai right from the balcony, and the sunsets are like a postcard. Everything was so peaceful and quiet… all you hear is the ocean, birds and the breeze through the palm trees!! Condo had everything we needed and along with the grounds, pool and hot tub all is very clean and obviously well cared for. We’ve only been home a week and already dreaming of going back! Thank you Sandy!!!

The view from the Lanai is stunning, such a treat to wake up to an unforgettable view. The grounds are immaculate, Larry and crew do an incredible job keeping the grounds pristine. Sandy is very responsive to any inquires you may have and made check- in a breeze, as easy as the trade winds. West Maui and Hale Mahina is the perfect place to have that unforgettable vacation.

If you are hot natured this condo is not for you. The reviews said that the breeze running through the house was enough. I knew that there was only air conditioning in the bedroom when I booked this condo. It was too hot especially in the afternoon sun. It’s a good location with a beautiful view but it was too hot to be comfortable. The ice maker in the fridge never worked. The manager was contacted but no one contacted us.

This is an amazing property and location. Unit has panoramic ocean view and is in tip-top condition. Very clean and appealing. Pool, hot tub and ground are maintained immaculately by Larry, the property manager. The whales were abundant, along with their new born calves. Resident turtles swam up to the beach daily. Lots of people all ages swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, surfing and in the ocean or just bobbing around in the waves. Paradise!!!

We had a wonderful time at this condo. It has been very nicely updated. Only downside, was that the property did not have gas bbq's, so waiting for briquets to fire up and other to use the bbq's was a hassle.
Hopefully, the property owners can upgrade those this next year.

Beautiful and peaceful location! The layout of the home was wonderful with the kitchen open to the living room. We spent a significant amount of time out of the lanai watching the ocean and many turtles. It was so easy to walk down to the beach for snorkeling and the home was well stocked with towels, spices, and most things you would need. Lots of nice coffee shops & other stores nearby.

We loved this place! In our impression, it was better than the resorts and half the price. We had an amazing ocean view and were so close, we could hear the waves from the lanai. As soon, as I checked in, I couldn't resist jumping in the ocean, just steps from the condo. The water is warm and clear; you can snorkel right here! There is a small beach and grassy area to lounge and BBQ with a nice little pool and hot tub. Every evening was like a little party with people socializing on the grass. The condo itself has every amenity you can think of. It was very clean as well. I was thankful for the small AC unit in the bedroom as it does get hot and humid inside. We will definitely be back!!!

After 2 long flights from Indiana, our smiles lifted as soon as we walked in the front door. Perfect place for a couple, nicely decorated and comfortable. From the lanai the view was breath taking in every direction. I even slept in the futon out there a couple nights. The property was well kept & clean, including the pool & beach. We had our very own sea turtle every day and got the added bonus of a Monk Seal one day.. awesome! Even did some snorkeling right there. Sandy’s place is marvelous!!! Don’t hesitate to book here. Unbeatable location for peace and quiet with a private beach and friendly neighbors. Fully equipped kitchen, soft sided and regular cooler, beach chairs, umbrella, plenty of towels and in-unit washer and dryer made it a wonderful stay. Good communication with the owner regarding check-in. Walkable in either direction to restaurants, a little less than a mile. Also the Maui bus ($2) picks up nearby for a trip to Lahaina Town or Whaler's village, etc if you don't want to drive. Comfortable bedding, easy living, wifi worked for all our devices and was fast enough to work remotely.

This was our first time to Maui and Sandy’s condo was the perfect introduction to a piece of heaven. It looks even nicer in person than in the pictures. It is spotless and nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, and the shower was like standing under a waterfall. This unit is extra nice because it’s the last one on the outside, so there are extra windows. The bedroom feels like being in a treehouse. We didn’t need it, but I can see that having an AC in the bedroom is an extra bonus. Sandy was easy to reach and provided all the information we needed in a timely manner. I almost dont want to recommend it too highly because I’m afraid it won’t be available for us in the future! We plan to come back to the same place as soon as we can!
