Our host Pam was delightful and was very communicative. Her email with how everything worked was detailed and amazing. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook, including some limited spices which is always nice. The lanai overlooks the water and there is an amazing beach, a very short walk to the South.. Beds are comfortable and linens are plentiful. There are beach towels, a couple of chairs and a cooler you can use to go to the beach. All of these things are so helpful when you travel far away and don't know what to bring or having to buy things when you get somewhere. We look forward to coming again at some point. . This was the first time for my grandson and my husband although my daughter and I have been here many times. The people are amazingly friendly. There's enough open to accommodate everybody.
Things are expensive, which has nothing to do with the condo. But we did bring some things in our luggage to supplement grocery buying. Support Maui if you can.

This is a nice spot with a beautiful view. Plenty of lounging options by the pool or ocean. Restaurants are within walking distance for enjoying a few Mai Tai's. Inside is set up with a full kitchen and washer and dryer.

This unit is right on the ocean. Beautiful views and you can almost always spot turtles from the lanai. Property is well maintained. Check in was super easy due to prompt communication with Pam. The central location is great because you can quickly drive to Kihei, Kahului or west towards Lahaina. I can’t tell you how nice it is to be able to get to Costco or wallymart in just 15 minutes yet still be staying on the other side of the island. Kihei is also 15 minutes or less. We would happily book this unit again. We also loved that there are 2 bathrooms in the unit. Thanks Pam and Bruce!

The condo was well located, close to the airport, the nice beaches and good eats. The condo was clean and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped and I have never seen a condo with so many towels. The lanai was the highlight. We enjoyed eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lanai, contempling the incredible view with the sound of the waves. Unfortunately, we had to cut short our trip due to the fires in Lahaina. The condo was not in the affected area but we didn’t want to take any risk. When the fires in Lahaina happened, Pam wrote to us to check if we were all ok. I informed Pam that we decided to leave the condo one day earlier, she replied to us very quickly to let us know that she will reimburse us for the unused day. It was very nice of her to be so considerate. I read on Facebook that many travelers were unable to get a refund for their cancelled accomodation. It never crossed my mind to ask for a refund but Pam had volunteered in doing so. That was a very nice gesture. We greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean and quiet place to stay and close to everywhere. Thank you Pam for sharing your condo and for being so nice to your guests.

We stayed for 2 weeks. The condo is right on the water with easy access the beach. There were never more than 20 people on the beach at once, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. Great kitchen and outdoor grilling space. Ma’alaea is in the middle of the island, so it’s a perfect for getting around the island. My family would gladly live there for the rest of our lives.

This condo was absolutely lovely! It was just as pictured and described in the listing. We could not have been closer to the water, & enjoyed the crashing of waves outside our lanai and windows. We didn’t use the kitchen to do any cooking, but it appeared to be well stocked. It was great to have a washer and dryer and dishwasher in the unit. And we enjoyed the quieter setting. Property is very clean (Both Condo and the property). We enjoyed the turtles swimming out in front of the Lanai. The beach at the end of the road was a nice shaded break from the Maui sun. Easily within walking distance. Enjoyed the quiet side of this island. The condo had everything you need to make your stay that much more enjoyable!

This is a great unit that is well appointed with all that you need to have a great experience in Maui!
There are many positives: The unit is clean, updated, and has a sense of serenity. It is a waterfront, corner unit so you have all the privacy you need....and you stare directly at the harbor with views to Kihei off to your left when on the lanai and morning sunrises. Parking is effortless and the location is clean and safe. We walked to harbor shops and restaurants with ease. From a location standpoint, it is centrally located with great access to all parts of Maui (e.g. airport, Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Kihei, Pa'ia, and etc.). Lastly and most importantly, Pam is a wonderful, communicative owner who ensure we always had the latest information and were accommodated.
There are only a few negatives: While the location is fantastic and serene, some travelers may want more action. Those types of travelers may want to a consider Kihei or Lahaina with more activities. We were disappointed that the condo did not have direct beach access. However, within a short walk there was a great beach for lounging. All other beach options needed to be drive to (but we knew this when we rented the unit). Lastly, there is only one A/C unit in the condo. There are plenty of fans so you can keep a nice circulation of air.

100/100 Would love to stay here again. The only small complaint we have is there aren’t windows or fans in the bathrooms, so it gets hot quick in them. It wasn’t hot enough for a/c, breeze was excellent. Saw a HUGE granddaddy honu right in front of the balcony!

What a great little place in paradise. Everything was as expected including the turtles and the ocean sounds to rock you asleep at night. Property has a great pool and barbecue area. We did many meals out on the lanai just admiring the water and surroundings. Convenient and safe ( I left my purse at pool area and someone nicely returned to office). Central to airport and all other sight seeing adventures. We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking and bike riding. Can't wait to get back! Aloha..

We really enjoyed the stay! We're middle aged and like that it was a little more low key from the heavy tourist areas. We could see the whales in mid-march from the lanai/balcony. We had breakfast on the lanai most mornings to enjoy the views! Having an elevator at the facility was convenient for moving luggage and my elder mother-in-law. My husband and I also enjoyed walking on the beach a little ways down the street. It was a walkable distance away. Overall we would definitely come back to stay!

We had a great time staying here on our vacation. This being the first time to Maui, it was a great centralized location to explore the whole island. We were able to see whales and sea turtles from the balcony nearly every day. The condo had everything we needed.

Gorgeous location and a wonderful property. We had some slight issues upon checking in as we had 2 different door lock codes and after over 18 hours of travel it was a little frustrating having problems trying to get into the condo at midnight when we were all exhausted. However we figured it out shortly and we’re able to gain access to the condo.
There were a few cleanliness issues but overall the condo was pretty good. Just some dead bugs that weren’t cleaned up, dust and the washer was not clean at all.
Gorgeous view from the lanai and we were able to see Honu almost every morning while we had our coffee.
Condo was pretty well equipped, there were a few items it could have used, so we left a note for the owner.
Perfect location right in the harbour! The weather was always great and it’s not too busy in Ma’alaea.
Overall I would recommend this location to family and friends.

The views were perfect, the location is central enough to go anywhere on the island. Cooler came in handy as well as the umbrella. It did get warm though. Yes there is very loud air conditioner on the floor in the master bedroom but it wouldn't get cool moreso for my wife then me. There is another air conditioner just inside of the lanai towards the floor. The TV stand blocks the airflow. My wife says they should ditch their current T V stand for a smaller one to let the air circulate better. My wife's friend a last minute addition stayed in the room with the twin beds and was pretty warm despite two fans.
Still I don't think it was enough to say anything bad. Property was great and quiet till you turn on the master bedroom air conditioner. We did hear the waves one night when lights in many areas of Maui went out.
One reviewer said they didn't even need the air. I think they were reptilians. In August, you need the air. Just be aware of those limitations. The rest of the p,ace more than makes up for it. Besides we were there really only in the morning and evening.

The thing I enjoyed the most was the view from every room in the condo. Every morning and every evening my favorite spot was at the balcony enjoying the view. We found everything we needed and more in the appartement The owner did a great job providing the detailed information how to use or find stuffs in the apartment. The place was cleaned and nice. I treated it as my own. The AC in the main bedroom is a eyesore; not only it is huge there is also a jumbo tube that attached it from the floor to the window. Unfortunately I saw 2 lizards in the main bedroom. I was so scared, my last 3 nights I slept with the lights on. Overall it was a great place to stay.

This was absolutely the best condo we’ve ever rented, and I’ve rented a number of them. It’s very clear that Pam and her husband want this to be extremely comfortable for them, as well as their guests. There literally wasn’t anything they hadn’t provided for us, comfortable beds, great cookware, very clean, basically two separate master suites unless you take the beds apart in the second bedroom. We like to prepare a lot of our own meals, and this kitchen didn’t disappoint. We had pretty much everything we needed except the actual food. I recommend everything about this, comfort, location, views, wonderful pool, quiet…I could go on, but just trust me and book this for your next vacation on Maui. You won’t regret it!

We didn't do much research before booking this place. Only after being there we realized this is a great location away from the touristy and crowded areas yet so close to all the touristy places. Great view of the ocean from the balcony and the beach next to the condo is a serene place to relax. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids and we find this place extremely convenient and family friendly with all the things necessary for our stay. We are so glad to have found this gem of this place for our Maui stay.

If you plan to travel around the island, this is a great location. Very convenient for day trips in every direction to include walking distance to the harbor/marina. Entry street is very underwhelming, but condo is situated nicely overlooking the ocean. Ten minute walk to beach area (very busy/lots of locals on weekends; recommend going to West Maui beaches on weekends). Third floor was perfect spot to fall asleep to the waves every night and balcony/lanai was great for sunrise breakfast!

We chose to spend a week in Maui during our sons’, who are in college, spring break. It was our first time to Maui and we were looking for a condo experience right on the water. The place was wonderful. As advertised and more. The thoughtfulness that went into the supplies in the kitchen and the comfortable furniture and linens and bathrooms… The entire condo was very well appointed. While we wished the beach had not been so rocky, we had hoped to swim a little closer to our condo but the rocks were a bit intimidating for that, we loved the view and fewer rocks were a short ways down the shore. However, seeing whales and turtles from our lanai more than made up for that! The whales were so playful and active! The best entertainment! And everything inside was well explained and easy to operate. From the TV remotes to the information about the oven or the fridge. Again, just very well set up and comfortable for guests. We are grateful and have a terrific memories of our time in Maui! Thank you.

My family and I stayed at Pam’s place for 5 nights-We had a 6 and 4 year old in tow. The check in process was simple and Pam was very quick to respond when we had questions. The condo is directly on the beach, literally! We didn’t need to use the A/C at all and found that opening the windows kept the air circulating sufficiently. The crashing sounds of the waves did scare my 4 year old at night but with constant reminders, she did just fine. The location is centrally located to Kihei and Lahaina. I did find that the closest breakfast/coffee spot was a general market/store just about .5 miles from the condo, located at the marina. I was hoping for something a little closer but all the other local coffee shops/breakfast spots are about 5-6 miles away. Knowing this, I did purchase my own kona coffee at the local grocery store to brew in the mornings. I would also recommend grabbing a few snacks or breakfast items (if traveling with little ones) so that you’re not having to drive 15 minutes out.
We used the pool daily, whale watched daily (there are binoculars for guest use which I didn’t realize were there until our 3rd day) and even saw turtles swim to the sand. We would definitely stay here again!!

The driving directions were accurate and easy to follow. Access to condo was exactly as described, easy to follow and easy to do.
The condo was clean and well appointed. It certainly has a Hawaiian homey feel. The kitchen has plenty of everything you need for cooking.
Best of all, the location is perfect. Located on a quiet road. We whale watched every morning and evening from the lanai.

We spent three weeks at Pam's condo. It was perfect for us. We loved the location because it is quiet and central to the rest of Maui. It had everything we needed with a well stocked kitchen for cooking most of our meals there. Relaxing on the balcony and watching the whales, dolphins and turtles was perfect. A delightful hidden gem on the quiet, southern side of the island. Great location that'll get you onto the beach in under a minute. Travel to Kehei in about 10 minutes and Lahaina in 20 minutes.

The ocean is literally at your doorstep and spent hours each day watching surfers, looking for surfers and just enjoying the view. The common areas including pool and grill area are always clean and we definitely took advantage of both. It did get hot during the day but there’s an AC in the living room and portable plug in units for each room that we were able to enjoy during our stay. The location is very convenient to neighboring sandy beaches and main towns including Kihei, Lahaina and Paia. I definitely recommend staying here. It’s an extremely good value for all the reasons mentioned.

This was our third time staying at Kanai A Nalu, and we have to say this is our favorite unit!! We like staying in Maalaea because it’s centrally located, making it easy to see all areas of Maui. We loved sleeping with the windows open and hearing the waves crashing below. We lost count of all the sea turtles surfing the waves just outside our lanai. We were absolutely thrilled with the property. The location was ideal for our family, as Maalaea is a quiet town but centrally located relative to the major activities on the west side of the island. The condo complex is well maintained, has a nice pool, and is only steps from the ocean. The unit itself is as advertised. It was clean and spacious, and it had everything we expected (and more) in terms of supplies. Pam was great to work with, and our entire family was happy to have stayed there. I would highly recommend the unit for families.

We loved this property. You can’t get closer to the ocean unless you want to sleep in it! Great location with easy access to Lahaina, Kihei and the airport. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved the grills and pool area and did some body boarding right out at our beach. My family of 4 (including two teens ages 17 & 19) stayed in this condo for 6 nights. This condo is CHARMING and situated right on the water. The views were amazing, and we spotted turtles swimming in the water right from our balcony.
The location is good: but be warned….if an action packed vacation is what you are looking for, Maalea is not for you. My husband I would have been completely content at this location, but my teenagers wanted to jet ski, snorkel and parasail; much of that action is about a 30 min drive away. We did take a boat tour right out of the local harbor, so that was helpful. Additionally, my teens are TALL, and my husband and I are above average height; 4 adults at or above 6 feet tall in this condo created a slight issue, but that was on us. My son ended up using the second bedroom and my smaller (but still very tall!) daughter used the fold out couch in the living room. In the future I will book a larger condo for the 4 of us. But for two adults and smaller children, You won’t find a better deal on lodging. The condo was very clean, and the beds were super comfortable. It took me a minute to get used to not having central AC, but once we opened up the windows and let the island breeze work. It was extremely comfortable. We slept well! PAM also stocked the condo with all the creature comforts you will need or a beach vacation and that was much appreciated.
The resort itself is a no major frills resort, and I very much liked it. A decent pool, beach access, and plenty of chairs and room to enjoy the beachfront. There are also two grills for use, and each night they were being utilized. Everyone we encountered was nice and affable.
One downside, which is completely outside of the owners responsibility is the sea walk work being done on the vacant land to the right of the unit. During the day, constant banging and scraping with large heavy machinery occurred. The operators would then dump the rocks and sand into the ocean, creating a huge mess. At one point we saw the management taking pictures of this mess; they clearly were NOT happy about what was happening. This unit is directly impacted by the noise. Luckily we made plans most days to explore other areas on the island.
My husband and I would happily rent this condo again, for the two of us. We actually already looked and it’s heavily booked. It really is a great condo!

I stayed for 12 nights with my wife and brother in law. I was hesitant to rent in Maalea. I thought Lahaina or Kihei would be closer to action. As is turned out, Maalea was just perfect. Very quite at night, excellent stars, and only 15 minutes to Kihei or Kahalui, and about 22 to Lahaina. It was a great home base for our adventures.
The unit was exactly as advertised and was clean and well equipped. The decor is very nice and the unit is well thought out. We are from Alaska and used to things being cooler, so I was concerned and wanted a unit with air conditioning. We never used it. We opened the place up and the ceiling fans and trade winds kept us cool. Being an end unit was great for additional privacy and windows.
The common areas are excellent and the grounds well maintained. We used the grills and the pool many times.
This unit is directly on the end of Sugar beach. No partial or semi view... the ocean is mere feet beyond your lanai. Great for dining, cocktails or reading. I watched the sun rise over Haleakala several mornings.
I had an incident with the property during my stay. (No fault of the owners, completely my fault.) I communicated with Pam and she had the issue quickly resolved.
Like so many travelers, we are seeking excellent bang for our buck. We don't have unlimited money, so we try to stay in the best place we can afford, limit our dining and drinking out, so we can afford to stay more days in Hawaii. This place is an excellent value, and I fully recommend it. Pam, thanks for sharing your piece of paradise.

The condo was spotless when we arrived, and check-in was very easy using the information Pam sent. We loved feeling the sea breezes blowing through the condo and seeing sea turtles from the lanai every day! My husband appreciated the gear (snorkel fins, beach towels, etc.) that was available for guests. The location was convenient for driving to activities on all other parts of the island. We thank you for sharing your home with us, Pam and Bruce. Pam, you have been terrific to work with from the beginning of our reservation nearly a year ago through check-out yesterday. The unit is very comfortably furnished and has a very well-equipped kitchen. We felt right at home! This unit's views overlooking the ocean from the lanai along with great privacy being a corner unit can't be beat. We began each morning with the sunrise and we honu watched each day! I can only imagine how great whale-watching season is with this view. Listening to the waves from the lanai and bedroom window is so soothing. This, in and of itself, was worth the stay!
The grounds are well maintained with lots of trees and native plants in bloom. The pool is great and there is a lot of room to take a lawn chair and make yourself a little retreat area on the grounds. The beach is a hidden jewel with very few people around. You can take a long walk or virtually jog along the beach to Kihei. In the early evening, it's fun to barbecue and gather in the common area and meet new folks.

I can't really write an unbiased review since I'm the owner. We had a lot of fun with friends and family in between working on projects at the condo. We replaced the living room furniture, some bedroom window blinds, a bathroom light fixture, replaced sheets and towels and generally deep cleaned. Since Maui has stopped producing sugar cane, we noticed a huge decrease in the dust that forms on everything. The trade winds blew, the weather was perfect, and the highlight was seeing 70 turtles resting on the beach at Ho'okipa Beach Park beyond Paia. The turtles rest on the beach everyday around 2 pm according to a local. We swam in the ocean to view them and watch them swim ashore. The turtle resting spot is something new for our guests to see. Maui is always a wonderful time for us. We try to keep the condo in tip top shape for our guests to enjoy our "home away from home".

The picture is very accurate of the view from the lanai. We loved this condo. My husband and adult daughter kept saying "wow, great choice." The condo is lovely and was clean and well-furnished on our arrival. (And I'm picky about "clean".) It was just wonderful. The location was terrific. You can easily drive up and down the coast of West Maui. We also went to Haleakala (which is visible from the lanai) and enjoyed the drive. The road to Hana definitely requires a full day and courage navigating the roads--but very very worth it. The cliffs and black sand beaches are breathtaking. And...each adventure we took--we loved returning to this marvelous condo. We loved seeing so many sea turtles. This was our third visit to Maui, and we would most definitely stay in this condo again!

Condo again was perfect. I recommend this property to everyone I know. We survived the road to Hana this trip and also saw the Volcano crater sunrise. This condo is absolutely perfect for us. The views and the sound of the waves are perfect. Every morning on the lanai, every night feeling the breeze. The accommodations are perfect for a relaxing time. Centrally located so you can get to anything on Maui easily. Just beautiful.

Very clean 2 bedroom 2 bath condo right on the beach! Every comfort of home but with a magnificent view!!! 10 stars all around!!

This is a clean updated and comfortable condo with an amazing view in a central location. The closeby village of Maalaea
provides several good restaurant choices
within walking distance. The long beach walks and sunrises over the volcano are
stunning. Love the quiet local and simple surroundings off the resort circuit.

Absolutely incredible! Extremely comfortable accommodations, everything at your fingertips, felt like our own home away from home. Just as you would expect from "Home Away!" We loved every minute of our 12 day stay. We will definitely come back! The other people staying and living in this complex were all super friendly and we felt right at home. Nothing could have been better... it was just so perfect! Can't wait to go back... a big 10 star review for this condo! Perfect in every way!!!!
