We have stayed at Honua Kai many times and really enjoyed this unit. The location was perfect, with a lovely view of the mountain and rainbows and a home-like feel. The manager was very attentive and easy to reach, and accommodated all of our requests easily. Will definitely be back!

The resort and the condo were exactly as described. The Condo was clean, well stocked and a stylish place to stay. The resort offered many beautiful pool options, and the beach in front of the hotel was great! Many sighting of turtles and variety of fish and other sea life to enjoy while snorkeling. Beach chairs and umbrellas were very appreciated. The owner’s (Bob) communication was excellent and he was readily available if required. Was a great vacation overall. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic time in Maui!!! Everything about this property was first class. It was easy to book, check in and check out. The property is very clean and includes all the amenities you would want - beach access, pools, restaurant, fitness center, and a general store. The location is ideal for taking excursions. We will definitely stay at this property again when we come back to Maui.

This 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo is perfect for a family. The unit was spotless when we arrived. We had our daughter and her two children ages three and three months. The unit is equipped with a pack n play crib which we used for the 3mo old. The cooler, beach chairs and umbrella came in handy for our beach trips. The resort grounds and pools were wonderful for those days we didn’t venture out. The wrist bands for beach towel service was extremely efficient and appreciated. The underground parking did fill up if you were out past 8pm but the free valet service was available.
I can’t say enough for the communication with the owners. They messaged me on our first day to make sure everything was OK. If you are looking for a vacation property that is clean, in wonderful condition with attentive hosts I have no hesitation recommending this property.

Just as described, the condo has everything you would need and is very spacious. The view from the balcony is also stunning. The resort is a great location right on the beach with access to the resort amenities. There are plenty of great food options around as well.
In addition, Bob was extremely attentive before and during our stay, answering any questions very quickly and checking in to make sure our stay was going well. We had a wonderful time and hope to be back in the future!

We spent Thanksgiving week at the condo. It was everything it was supposed to be. It was spacious and comfortable. The only issue we had was parking is limited in the evenings, but we were able to valet for no cost (except tips). More importantly Bob is a great communicator. I wholeheartedly recommend this property.

We have been to Maui and Honua Kai several times before, however this time was our best trip yet! The 2 bedroom unit was perfect for our family of 4. Plenty of space and it had all the amenities that you could want for a two week long vacation. The owners have been fantastic to work with. We had a small issue with the microwave during our stay which was taken care of right away. Honua Kai was swapping the door locks to a keypad system during our stay. The transition was seem less. We would book this place again in a heartbeat!

This apartment was an excellent choice for our recent trip to Maui. While it wasn't inexpensive, we got much more space than a similarly priced hotel room. The apartment feels modern and clean. Everything worked as expected.
A few things to be aware of in this location:
1) Duke’s is a great place to eat and it’s on the property, which is awesome. Get reservations because it gets busy.
2) The supplied underground parking is quite busy and fills up. The ceilings down there are very low if you have a bigger rental car like we did (a Tahoe).
3) Valet is free (apart from gratuity) and that’s ultimately what we did all the time. We preferred it to the underground parking.
4) There’s a bunch of food trucks, walking distance from the apartment. They’re not that awesome, unfortunately, but it is convenient.
5) The stretch of Kaanapali Beach directly in front of the property is very nice, however, be aware that there are large rocks right at the entry to the water and make playing in the surf somewhat treacherous. For smaller kids, consider walking down the beach a bit toward the hotels.
6) The pools on the property are nice but aren’t the nicest pools I’ve visited. There’s one that appears, at first glance, to be a lazy river but the ‘river’ is incomplete so it’s really just a river-like pool. The kid’s pool is great for smaller kids and the water slide is perfect for smaller kids as well. However, pre-teens and teenagers will get bored quickly.
7) Overall, the location is very good for activities and restaurants.

Loved the location of this property! Easy to walk to the beach and enjoyed morning walks along the pathway that goes in front of the resort properties. My husband and I walked two miles each morning to start our day! A grocery store is walkable distance and walked to a food truck area each morning for coffee and banana bread. Enjoyed being able to cook a few meals in the condo. The grounds and pools were great! Would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was quiet, spacious, clean and well stocked to make everything very convenient.
Beds were comfortable and full kitchen allowed us to grocery shop and eat at home in between outings. We saw multiple turtles and tons of beautiful fish right outside the resort while snorkeling. Go more towards the Hokulani building to avoid some of the close-in rocks. In the afternoon, or when tide is in, snorkeling is easier since close in rocks are more covered. Super fun for the kids with the beach access and pools.
Dukes was also great and we enjoyed lunch there.

We absolutely loved this place and would stay again in a heartbeat. My two teenagers loved the space available to spread out and have some privacy. The location was perfect. We shopped, surfed, snorkeled, and golfed and felt like we were super close to everything. Communication with the owner was easy.

Unit was perfect, Beach is amazing but it was all eclipsed by how helpful and supportive the owner was through the whole process. Truly a great property at a cool resort on a beautiful island. Spend the money to rent a spot at the pool because without doing so the battle for space is tough. Take the ten minutes to drive down to the Safeway as it is the better grocery store by far. Keep your pool towels at night because supply can be tight in the morning. Once you learn these tricks of the trade you will have an amazing time supported by the best VRBO owner we have ever dealt with. An amazing week on Maui!

We spent one week in March 2022 at Bob and Linda's 2 bedroom Honua Kai condo. We could not have asked for a better overall experience.
The condo is clean and well kept and very up to date. The layout of the 2 bedrooms, the 2 bathrooms, and the main living space is very condusive to a comfortable family experience.
We LOVED the Lanai and ate breakfast out there every morning and often lunch or dinner too.
There are 4 great beach chairs with a beach umbrella and some sand toys. The beach right out in front has a fair amount of coral. However, you only need to walk a little down the beach to find great areas to swim and play. One of the days we went about 1.5 miles down the boardwalk to May's beach and had the best day (gradual shallow entry - lots of white sand - some waves but not too many or too strong).
The pools are well kept and there are MANY options. Some are busy. Some are quiet. It has something for everyone.
And, of course, it was fun to have Duke's essentially on site.
The ease of checking in and checking out was fantastic. We had no difficulties with the process of finding our way to the condo.
My family and I are thrilled that we found this gem on VRBO. I would highly recommend staying here.

We've always enjoyed staying and Honua Kai. It's a great place for both family and adults. This unit is well equipped. A little smaller than some of the other units we've rented but a great space for 4 people. It has mountain views and is quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful, clean condo. We had plenty of space with the living, dining and kitchen area in the middle and the two bedrooms on either side. Both bedrooms had en suite bathrooms, and the patio door opens completely to let the outside in! We loved it! The 10 yr old in our group enjoyed the pool and snorkeling right on the beach in front of the property. There is a grocery store a block away - as well as a small market in the lobby. Also, give Slappy Cakes a try. They have DIY pancakes with a cooktop in the middle of the table - very fun!

We absolutely loved staying here. The property is a prime location. It was very clean and had a beautiful view. The owner was easy to communicate with and gave us great directions. The pools are fabulous and fun for kids. Dukes restautant is right on site. The property is not too far from old Town Lahaina and a bunch of fun activities. We did not want to leave. We will definitely be booking here again.

This is a beautiful two bedroom, two bath condo on the 5th floor of the Honua Kai complex in Lahaina, right on Kaanapali Beach. When we arrived our instructions were to check in at the bellman's desk. It took a while to figure things out because we didn't have access to get through the front gate. We waited for another car to go through and followed. Later we discovered that there's a back way into the complex that isn't gated, so that helped. The bellman's desk also provided us with a gate pass and parking pass and then we were all set. Another thing I loved was the waterproof key bracelet that gave us access to everything on the property, including the condo. Very easy and convenient. The property is close to the beach, has great swimming pools, and there's a boardwalk for walking that goes for miles. There's a store in the main lobby for snacks and small purchases. Dukes restaurant is on the property and is open breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the food is great. They also do takeout which was really helpful because of limited covid restaurant seating. Just outside the entry gates there were several food trucks that served Mexican, Thai, Greek food, etc. and the atmosphere was fun and the food was good. They stayed open pretty late and the area had good lighting. Pool seating was hard to get because the resort had removed 50% of their lounge chairs due to covid, but they had a towel dispensing system that worked great and we were allowed to take as many towels as we needed. Our condo came with 4 beach chairs, cooler, and an umbrella, so we went north and found great snorkeling beaches with lots of fish and turtles. It was really nice to have a washer and dryer and the dishwasher worked great. I really don't have any big complaints, but It would have been nice if there had been a few more towels and washcloths. Things were really spotless except there were two area rugs that needed to be cleaned. Honestly, I've seen worse, but they definitely would present better if they were cleaned. Sheets and blankets were clean, but worn. It wouldn't take much to freshen things up and it would make a positive difference. That being said, there was absolutely nothing in this condo that would stop me from staying there again. The owner was wonderful to deal with and very responsive, and the management company communicated regularly and provided great on site service. I would highly recommend this property.

We stayed at Honua Kai last week and our stay was wonderful. The condo was exactly what we expected, clean and spacious for two couples. We had everything we needed. The beach chairs and coolers were a big plus. The resort is beautiful and central to everything we wanted to see. Dukes Beach House and other island restaurants were very busy so plan to go early to reduce the wait times. Also book any activities a couple of months in advance. Our only suggestion, and it didn't detract from our stay, was we wished there was an extra set of bath towels provided. We would definitely stay here again.

The unit was very nice with large balcony and spacious rooms. Owner/manager repaired leaking toilet promptly. Front desk help was poor (ran out of wristbands and limited us to 3 card keys due to shortage), but fortunately not much help was needed. Property was very busy as was all of the island, but access to Honua Kai Villa pools provided a calm, sometimes private place to relax.

This condo was very well stocked, close to the beach and pool and a short drive to Whaler’s for shopping/nice restaurants. The location of Honua Kai in Kaanapali was great for access to Lahaina/Front Street, Maalea Harbor. The food truck park was an easy walk and a great casual/quick option. We had a maintenance issue that was quickly resolved and Bob was great with communication. I would definitely recommend Honua Kai to families.
