At first there was some hesitation over a couple of the reviews. But Peter assured us everything was taken care of. He even sent updated photos and a video to me personally. We have stayed at Makena Surf many times. His property, by far, is the best that we have seen.
We had no issues at all checking in. Easiest process ever.
The condo was immaculate. Everything looked even better than the photos.
Everything you will need is provided. Internet worked great and had good speed. A/C worked great and kept us cool. The kitchen was well stocked and had most everything you may need.
The guest bathroom showerhead needed to be replaced. Not only did Peter call me back immediately, but offered to fix it that night. He came first thing the next day. Shower works great!
We didn’t have any other issues.
When we decide to return to Maui, he will be the first person that I call. Great to work with and the condo was wonderful.

The place was located in Makena with beautiful view of ocean. It was in an excellent condition and quiet. The host was very accommodating. We are hoping to stay there again next year. Mahalo.

If beachfront location and view are your main criteria, this condo is for you! In addition to location, we chose this property because of the lovely interior photos on VRBO when we booked and which remain online now. But the living and bedroom furnishings were very different from the beautiful photos and not to our taste or comfort. The closet doors were removed to reveal oversupplied linens and toiletries, which should have been stored off-site. The master bath photo had a window with a view of the ocean, which had been replaced with a wall. And cleaning supplies and equipment were stored in view on the lanai, in the living room and bathrooms - not what we expected for an expensive property.

Absolutely stunning balcony/lanai to whale watch ( and we saw lots everyday!), and amazing sunsets as well. We spent lots of time out there for dinners and drinks. Beach access was great and pool and hot tub was nice. Bed were comfy and condo was well equipped.

Wow!!! This condo has it all! Amazing views, very comfortable beds and furnishings, resort like amenities without the crowds, a beautiful beach and great snorkeling (we saw several turtles)… just steps away. The grounds are beautiful, the pool and spa right are right out the front door. There is a huge selection of beach toys for the kids, snorkel gear, beach umbrellas & sand chairs. The condo was clean, quiet, very well stocked and has been updated very nicely. We appreciated having air conditioning. There are no elevators, but climbing the stairs worked off a bit of the delicious dinning we did in nearby Wailea. We loved every single minute of our 14 day stay. God willing, will return next year. The owner is very responsive, we had a health issue arise during our stay that needed attention and he had some great advice on where to go for that. Thank you, Pete!

You cannot get much better than this! Property was beautiful, quiet and very well maintained. 2 pools and of course the beaches. Turtles were often spotted and there was wonderful snorkeling right from the beach. Host was excellent, responded to our questions in a very resonable time and we had everything we needed in the condo including snorkling gear, boogi boards and umbrellas, towles etc. Highly recommend and we will use this location in our future trips to the islands.

Peter was great and easy to communicate with, but the property was beautiful. My wife and I had 10 wonderful days in the condo. Every meal and relaxation time was on the lanai overlooking the beach and ocean. The pictures can't compare to actually being there and hearing the sounds of the waves on the beach. A great size condo for 4, but perfect for 2. The location was just what we were looking for, peaceful setting and area but close enough to shopping and restaurants when we wanted them. While there, don't miss going to Big Beach just down the road. The condo has beach chairs and umbrellas to take with. It really did offer so much. We loved our stay.

The photos and video in the listing are current and accurate. Peter's condo is clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked with all needed utensils, cooking pots and pans as well as dishes and glassware. Many cooking products (cooking oils, sugar, etc) left by prior guests were a bonus. The beds were very comfortable. Be aware of the 3rd floor location with no elevator. The view is worth the 3rd floor climb. Spectacular!! We would book this unit again without hesitation.

The condo is well equipped with beach equipment including snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels as well as the kitchen including a barbecue on the lanai. The beach out front of the condo is not busy and we would see turtles everyday.

A beautiful property that was ideal for our family of four. We loved everything about the place - the view! The location - easy access to the beach, the pool and tennis courts. The place also came equipped with all the gear we needed for the week - beach chairs, snorkel equipment, umbrellas, tennis rackets, etc. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were so comfortable! Peter was accessible and very responsive with any questions we had during our stay.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Makena Surf. The unit was exactly as depicted and had everything you needed, both inside and for the beach/snorkeling. The pools were quiet and relaxing as well. The beach area was busy but never seemed crowded and the owner occupied residents were very friendly to guests. Access to beach is excellent. Everything else is not. Lots of maintenance issues in and out of unit . Property is tired ; this unit in particular needs a complete update. I understand it’s difficult to take property off market and spend money to not get revenue but it’s time . One toilet is not useable with door closed . Space feels very tight. This is the 1980s …

Amazing stay! Perfect for four adults. Easy beach access. Pool and tennis courts in good shape. Property hard to find in complex but once there, a great rental! Beware of three flights of stairs, no elevator. We loved it!

We have rented several units @ Makena Surf over the years (all have been 5 star)! But this one was the most expensive one we've ever rented and it was a bit disappointing. Here's a few things that caused concern:
-master toilet making noise causing neighbors below to complain.
-no decent beach chairs
-lights in guest bath missing bulbs
-carpets dirty
-leak under master bath sink
-grill left dirty with propane almost gone
-no secure safe as advertised
-dishwasher broke down and no dishwasher for a couple of weeks
-washing machine broke down day before we left

This was our second stay at Makena Surf, and we highly recommend it! The view from the condo was simply amazing, beautiful sunsets every night! We love how quiet the area is and the beach is so wonderful. We utilized the pool and spa almost every day as well after spending time at the beach. The condo itself is nicely furnished and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need! Communication with Peter was great.
Our only regret is why did we just stay one week?! Cannot wait to go back for a longer stay!

This is lovely condo, nicely furnished, comfortable with a very well equipped kitchen to satisfy whatever your cooking needs may be. There is an ample supply of beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, beach towels etc. to use. Magnificent views of the beach, ocean and nearby islands from the patio and living room, dining room and kitchen. Very quiet with no noise at all at night. Beach is quiet compared to the hotel ones, quite lovely and long, with excellent snorkeling around the reef as you enter the beach from the condos. Nice to have a pool to use as well, especially in the afternoon when the winds and surf whip up. Owner was very helpful with restaurant info prior to visit. All in all, an excellent choice for a beachfront condo. Good proximity to local market and hotel and independent restaurants. Only complaint is that if you have heavy luggage, there is no elevator ,so have to carry bags up to 3rd floor.

We had a terrific stay! Communication with Peter was great, always available if any questions popped up. The unit is top floor, steps to the beach, and very nicely remodeled. The bed and pillows are super comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with everything you need.
We love this unit and the complex as it’s always quiet, relaxing, and the beach is never busy. You’re a short drive to anything you need, but while at Makena Surf you feel quite remote. Which we enjoy.
This is the 3rd time we’ve stayed in this particular unit and I’m sure we’ll be back!

The condo was very clean, comfortable and great location!! We loved the walking paths in both directions off the property and it was easy to get to all of the restaurants.
The notebook in the condo was extremely helpful with recommendations for beach, snorkel spots, restaurants, and exploring the island. The nearby luau at Andaz Hotel was amazing!!

We really cannot say enough about this place. The view was AMAZING! Out of all the things we did, watching the sunset and rise on the balcony might have been the best part. The access to the pool, spa and beach could not have been better. This was our first time in Hawaii and we already want to make plans to come back!

We had an amazing time at the property. I’m filling this review two weeks post vacation and I’m still dreaming about those majestic mornings on the beach.
The property is excellent, the location is amazing, and the view from the lanai is unmatched.
We only had two issues. The first was finding the property (even with the directions) and the second was the door code expiring (apparently this happens once a year) and struggling to get contact with the owner.
After about five hours we heard back and were then able to leave the property. The owner apologized and left us with a wonderful bottle of wine. My hope is that in the future he have the expiration on his calendar to ward off this easily solvable problem.
Stop thinking and book this property. It’s worth every penny.
