~ About the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park ~
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916, displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution -- processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with complex and unique ecosystems and a distinct human culture. The park encompasses diverse environments that range from sea level to the summit of the earth's most massive volcano, Mauna Loa at 13,677 feet. Kilauea, the world's most active volcano, now taking a pause, offers scientists insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and visitors' views of dramatic volcanic landscapes.

Over half of the park is designated wilderness and provides unusual hiking and camping opportunities. In recognition of its outstanding natural values, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park has been honored as an International Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site.

The National Park Web site provides up-to-date information, tours, and hiking trails.

All four of us were very impressed with the TLC the owner gives her property. Such a beautiful home in the rain forest close to Volcano National Park and the village of Volcano. The owner had fresh fruit for us and various beverages too. We loved staying here, and will definitely try to book again for a future trip.

3 of us stayed at "Pele's Secret Garden" for 3 nights. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated and well equipped. The house is set in a very private rain forest enclosed garden and has a great wrap around lanai. It is minutes away from the town of Volcano and the National Park. The kitchen is well equipped. The home has plenty of thoughtful touches and some beautiful artwork. The queen bed was particularly comfortable. This will be our preferred VRBO for future visits.

This has been our best stay at a Vrbo. Peggy the host has thought of everything. We were welcomed with Fresh tropical flowers from the yard, a personalized welcome letter, a fully stocked kitchen with basics as well as complimentary local juices, fresh fruit, and coffee! The home is beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. We have nothing bad to say about our stay. We would return in a heart beat!!

We absolutely loved this house. It was the cleanest vacation rental we have ever stayed in. Communication with the owner was quick and clear. The house is set back on the property so it is very secluded and gorgeous. If we ever won the lottery we would try to buy this home in a heartbeat. We hope to stay here again in the future!

This house was amazing! It’s conveniently located within a few miles to Volcanoes National Park, yet tucked away in the rain forest where you feel completely secluded. The entire house is floor to ceiling glass doors and it was amazing to wake up each morning to hear birds chirping or hear the rain falling on the roof. The next time we need another relaxing vacation, we will definitely come back here.

Beautiful home! Wall to wall windows. Wrap around porch. Surrounded by plants and trees. Happy birds signing day and night. Every little corner of this home has some type of surprise - metal figurines, decor, paintings on the wall, etc. vaulted ceilings, bamboo style fans. The host provided fresh fruit, coffee, beverages, pretty much everything you would need. Thank you Peggy!

We stayed in this house for 2 nights in early June as we wanted to be close to Volcanos National Park. It is about a five minute drive to the entrance of the park. Its location is in a neighborhood in Volcano Village but you would not know it as the house sits back off a lightly traveled street and it was incredibly quite and serene. It was nice during the day and cool, almost cold at night. The wrap around porch was comfortable and perfect for our first 2 nights on the Big Island. It was easy to relax. The host, Peggy, was easy to communicate with and she made sure to reach out to make sure we got checked in OK. The fresh fruit was a very nice touch and introduced us to apple bananas, which are amazing! I would not hesitate to stay at this house again.

April 2023
Absolutely loved this property. Being in the midst of a rainforest is a wonderful experience. The natural beauty, quiet location, amazing home is the perfect start to our Hawaiian vacation. It was cloudy and drizzled/rained all day yesterday but we were greeted to a beautiful sunny day today! The house is just as shown on the website….but even better! We actually spent very little time on property but falling asleep to the sound of rain on the roof and waking to the sound of bird calls assured a peaceful and relaxing time. The great flowers and fruit made for an amazing welcome. My only regret, is that we stayed too short of time!

Family vacation with my husband and teen son. House was very well cared for. Peggy was very nice and asked me how my checkin went and if I needed anything. Very nice quaint and quiet getaway. Beautiful inside and out! Really close to Volcano National Park. Even drove to the Green Sand beach to get out of the rain for the day. Would definitely stay again.

Loved every minute here, it’s peaceful and clean, the living area a lot more spacious than it looks in the picture. We listened to birds singing every morning, it really does feel like a secret garden, private with beautiful vegetation all around. The stars were stunning at night. The beds were really comfortable, the kitchen had all the amenities. Fantastic place.

We had the most wonderful stay at this property! The entire space is beautifully done, with a lot of attention to detail, and unique and tasteful touches. It is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. It is nestled into a corner of the rainforests surrounding VNP, with a wrap around balcony that truly immerses you in nature and tranquility. The kitchen has every appliance and cooking accessory that you could possibly need, all in great condition. The linen closet was well stocked with towels, extra bedsheets and blankets. And the beds were so comfortable! Peggy is very responsive and proactive. She made us feel very welcome with seasonal Hawaiian fruit - some of the best you'll ever taste!

We were very happy with the accommodations and the host was very responsive. It is truly a magical place, completely surrounded by foliage seen through all the windows and doors to this lovely property. Although rainy and cold we made the most of our visit to Volcano National Park and even got up at 4 am to get to the Old Rim Trail to see the crater before sunrise. Thank you Peggy

Pele’s Secret Garden should be renamed Pele’s Secret Heavenly Garden! We have stayed at many rentals, and I must admit this is my favorite. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. From the beautiful flowers on the table, the fresh fruit, the personalized note on the home binder, the little Christmas tree in the den, and the fresh Christmas Wreath over the inside door. So many little things that say, “you are welcome here. Enjoy your time.” As an artist and quilter, I loved all the little touches that made this house a home. The locally created art and quilts throughout this home are absolutely beautiful. The wrap-around porch is truly a little of heaven on earth. Mornings and evenings were my favorite time to sit and enjoy all the surrounding lush forest and the songs of the birds (and nap in the hammock when I could 😉). On the practical side, this house had everything! Nicely stocked pantry and refrigerator with condiments, great coffee, all cooking utensils, grill, and bathrooms stocked with plenty of towels and supplies. Super comfy beds. As a person with sensitive skin, I was impressed by and appreciated that the laundry detergent is dye and scent-free, so the sheets didn’t make me itch and were super luxurious and soft. Peggy was the MOST gracious host. We could contact her about anything, and she would get back to us almost immediately. We left feeling like we had made a new friend. 😊 We traveled over 1000 miles and saw most of the Big Island on our visit, and Pele’s Secret Garden was the perfect home base!! We can’t wait to return! ❤

December 2022
My family and I stayed at Pele’s secret garden for 2 nights to explore Volcano national park. What a delightful enchanting place it was!! Peggy’s home was comfortable and she included amenities such as coffee, juice, and condiments in her fridge. There were clear explanations in use of appliances, television, and the back up for hot water. The weather graced us with stunning thunderstorms in the afternoons and excellent weather prior to and after that. We would definitely stay again and will recommend Peggy’s home to friends and family visiting the area.

Kathy W.
December 2022
This is a well cared for property. The owners clearly spend some time here and give quality and comfort priority. We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Dimitrije M.
December 2022
Heat provided only by one fireplace with bad chimney pushing back a lot of smoke. House was cold and humid and no hot water when we came. Beds are too high and too soft, don't sleep near the edge or you'll fail out. Accommodation is only for 4 people. There are only two queen sized beds, one in each room.

Rolf N.
November 2022
We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely stay here again! It was incredible listening to the sounds of the rain forest while a steady rain fell.

October 2022
The windows on this home allow you to experience the rainforest all while being in a lovely home. Peggy is a very gracious hostess. After staying a week, we had a hard time leaving as it was so perfect. We hope to stay here again next time we are in Volcano.

By far my favorite vacation rental ever! Property was perfect! Communication was great! So very clear the property owner cares about hosting a perfect vacation experience. Peggy was such a gracious host. I cannot say enough positive things about this host and her beautiful home!

September 2022
Stayed here with my family including two teens while we visited Volcano National Park for two days. It was the perfect location, close by to the park such that we could easily drop home for lunch or for a break between activities. It is nestled between beautiful foliage and set back from the road, and feels like a treat retreat. We enjoyed spending some time out on the porch relaxing in the hammock. The home is clean, comfortable and very well stocked with anything that you could need including coffee, juice and fruit. Peggy is a wonderful host, communicative and very responsive. We wished we had stayed longer and would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay here very much. It was beautiful, secluded, comfortable and close to the Volcano National Park. It was very well equipped and supplied with drinks, fruit, cooking oils, spices and condiments. It was beautifully decorated with artwork, fresh Flowers, and comfortable furniture. The living room/dining area were surrounded by floor to ceiling glass window and doors that looked out on the surrounding lanai and lovely garden. I would definitely book Pele’s secret Garden again!

August 2022
This was a fantastic day for our family of four while visiting Volcanoes National Park. Communication from the host was timely, clear and helpful. The home was spacious, well equipped, and welcoming. We appreciated having plenty of space to spread out in the evenings after enjoying the park during the day. The location was extremely convenient. My favorite part was the huge wraparound porch and being able to listen to the frogs and other nature sounds in the evenings.

Korrin M.
August 2022
We absolutely loved our stay in this home. The location is perfect for visiting the National Park. It's in a nice neighborhood, yet feels like it's in a remote jungle. None of us wanted to leave this beautiful, clean, well equipped home. All of the five star reviews are well deserved. It was a treat to stay here.

July 2022
Unfortunately for us, we booked 7 nights on the Kona coast and only 2 nights here at Pele's Secret Garden! We should have done the opposite! It was a tranquil, quiet retreat that was absolutely beautiful and so much to do around the area. The house was super-clean and we found everything we needed to prepare all our own meals. The beds were comfortable and being able to open the doors at night (there are screens on all of them) on all sides of the house was amazing! Our host did a great job communicating and was responsive with a couple of questions we had about the grill (gas, not charcoal) while we were shopping on our way in. Great experience ... will book again for longer when we can get away to the Big Island again!

Lana G.
July 2022
This was the perfect place for our portion of the trip exploring Volcano National Park. The house was spacious, clean, and very well stocked! It is in a secluded area which is beautiful, so we bought groceries at a Safeway near Hilo before arriving at the house. It does get chilly, even in the summer, so I recommend layers. The location was great and we were able to go back and forth between the volcano and house, which was convenient since we had children. We did the night hike to the lava flow which was probably the highlight of our trip! Communication was great.

What a treat it was to stay at Peggy's beautiful home. There are little details throughout the house that add to the experience of being secluded in a tropical, cooler temperatured rainforest. We live in Kona, so this was a nice reprieve from the heat for a few days. We also celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary. Peggy was a delight to work with, very responsive and communicative. Thank you again Peggy for sharing your sanctuary with us.

March 2022
Loved staying here. Close to VNP, so clean, had all amenities needed including oats that saved me for breakfast!! Peggy was very reachable if needed. I loved sitting on the porch with my coffee (also provided and delicious) and taking in the beautiful greenery and listening to the birds. Really recommend!!

This experience was wonderful. The property was outstanding. Gorgeous gem in lush greenery with birds singing all around. The owner Peggy was so accommodating. She has thought thru all the details so no matter what you need or want it's there and then some. . She recommended great restaurants and answered all my questions promptly. Very convenient to all the sites in the area. Highly recommend this place. Your stay will be very memorable!!! I look forward to staying there again.

January 2022
On our trip to the Big Island we knew that we wanted to spend a lot of time in Volcano to explore the National Park, so we needed a place to stay for a few nights. This home was perfect! We were so close to the park and we were able to hop back and forth between morning hikes and nighttime trips to see the volcano glow at night. It’s a little difficult to find food in Volcano so having a very nice kitchen with so many amenities was a life saver (buy groceries on your way in from Kona or Hilo). The house was tucked away in a rain forest setting and it was so peaceful at night. We were there in late December and the fireplace kept us comfortable when it got a little chilly outside one night. Loved this part of our vacation. Everything was perfect!!

November 2021
We enjoyed our stay so much. The home is beautiful surrounded by lush trees and flowers and birds. Located close to volcano national park, starry skies. Very cozy. October 2021
Peggy has the most beautiful home in the rainforest. Close to everything but still a country atmosphere. House is gorgeous with everything you could want or need. Super helpful host and a real home away from home. I recommend this to anyone coming to the Big Island. Kilauea is minutes away and so convenient to check out during this recent eruption. Clean and we’ll worth the trip. Thank again for a great trip!

September 2021
Awesome stay near the Hawaii volcano national park! The home itself is gorgeous, beautifully designed, and only a few minutes drive away from the park entrance and from the town of Volcano. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai listening to the animals in the rainforest and to the dripping of rainfall. The hammock was a wonderful addition. The home is immaculately maintained and fully stocked (better than my own kitchen). The info binder was very helpful in getting acquainted with the area and restaurant/food options that were available. All the listed restaurants had great food. And we really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub. It was a really special place and memorable 5 star experience. Would definitely stay again.

August 2021
First, maybe most important, the property is very clean - from the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms. Lots of extra details that help with a stay in an area that has fewer restaurants (ergo lots of cooking): lots of options for pots, cook ware, spices, oils, and even had the fridge stocked with simple basic ingredients (eggs, coffee, can beverages). Very cozy atmosphere - overall a great getaway! Peggy was always quick in her communication, too!

Zoltan H.
July 2021
Nice, spacious, cozy and well equipped. It was a perfect base for Volcano and Hilo side adventures.

We've been to the Big Island twice but never to Volcano. This property is so lovely and relaxing and easy access to the National Park and our tour of Kazumura caves. Would highly recommend this peaceful gem.

Felt like coming to a well cared for friend's home. The fresh flowers, fruit, and some goodies stocked in the fridge were really nice. The only thing missing was the hostess being there in person!

September 2019
We stayed in volcano for three nights and it was the perfect location to explore this side of the island. Peggy was a great host and made sure we got settled in and had everything we needed. The home itself was beautiful and had amazing views of lush rainforest from almost everywhere in the house. Whether you’re looking to unwind and get some peace and quiet or just have a great spot to come back to after full days of exploring the island, this is your place!

August 2019
We had a very comfortable stay at this property. Peggy is very accommodating and responsive. She has a beautiful home - we really enjoyed hanging out on the patio in the evenings.

Karen W.
July 2019
This house was my family’s favorite! The house is comfortable and inviting, and the host is very responsive and hospitable. The stars at night were amazing! We loved sitting on the porch watching the birds and listening to the frogs. We are grateful for a restful and enjoyable stay!

George B.
July 2019
Secluded, natural environment just minutes from the Volcano NP front entrance. Cool breeze. Stocked refrigerator. Loved hearing the birds in the surrounding trees. The house interior was damp (we are in the middle of a rainforest) and unfortunately we weren't able to figure out the dehumidifier. We should note that those with mold allergies (like my wife and daughter) may be uncomfortable.

Matt A.
June 2019
This place welcomes you, almost to a fault. :-) I say this in jest, because the home was so comfortable we found it easy to sit around reading and enjoying the home instead of going out and experiencing the beauty that is Hawaii. We found everything we needed from linens and towels to a wine opener and coffee grinder. When I had a question, I was able to immediately reach the owner who was always gracious and very helpful. We have used VRBO all over the world and this stay was definitely in the top few of our experiences.

Gary C.
April 2019
This is a beautiful home nestled in a temperate rainforest. The open concept layout with high ceilings and walls of glass in full view of the rainforest are especially pleasing. Furnishings are high-end, functional, and comfortable. Beds, linens, towels, and bathrooms are wonderful. WiFi and Smart TV are great! Dehumidifiers control the indoor environment perfectly; there's nothing like slipping into comfy, dry sheets for a good night's sleep and then putting on dry clothes in the morning when living in the damp environment of the rainforest. My wife and I stayed at this home for a week, so having a washer and dryer was very convenient. This home had everything that we needed and more. The location of this home was perfect for us. Our priority was to spend most of our time in Volcano National Park, which is just minutes down the road. But, with several early morning starts we were also able to comfortably explore the east side of the island up to Honoka'a and the west side of the island up to Kailua-Kona. Our favorite restaurant in Volcano was the Ohelo Cafe; the service, food, and environment were outstanding. Be sure to make reservations. It was a pleasure communicating with our host Peggy for our stay. Peggy's responses were always prompt, professional, and helpful. We highly recommend this home for a stay in Volcano.

March 2019
House was great, really enjoyed our stay

February 2019
This rain-forest home in Volcano was in the rain forest but built with walls of windows that allowed light to flood into the front and dining room. A very elegant home that was very peaceful and located near the Volcano Park. We enjoyed a couple trips to the park and Hilo and also really enjoyed the Volcano Farmers Market on Sunday.

Nathan S.
January 2019
We've stayed in a few places over the years and this one is the best by far! The location is great, the decor cute and grateful, the beds are comfy, and the dehumidifiers are a great touch to take away the chill in the morning.

Anita W.
April 2014
Surrounded by rainforest, this house is cozy, incredibly peaceful and full of wonderful and eclectic touches. Fresh flowers, local fruits and a well stocked fridge awaited us. It is easy access to Hawaii Volcanos National Park and we went back and forth several times.

All the reviews and pictures did not prepare us for the loveliness of this place. Our days were a mix of mist, rain and sunshine so we enjoyed all the moods of this great home. The fruit, flowers, food and wine were treats and everything was beautiful, clean and functional. I wondered if two nights might be more than our group would want but we all wished we could just stay on. Pele's Garden itself is a fine destination. We prepared our own meals except for curry from Thai Thai for lunch. Even that we had as take out so we could spend more time at the cottage. If you plan to cook be sure to bring all your food except fruit as there are no real grocery stores at Volcano. The Sunday Farmer's Market was fun with good produce and treats.

We loved this rental! Surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. As other reviewers have stated, this rental was VERY well stocked - seasonings, oil, butter, ziploc bags, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, coffee, sweeteners, condiments in the fridge, canned juices, fresh fruit, I could go on and on. Clean. Very nice bedding and towels. Wifi worked great.

This is our THIRD time staying at Pele's Secret Garden, and I just love it here. It is so peaceful and quiet, close to town while also being tucked away from any road noise. The house is extremely comfortable...the bedroom carpet, master bedroom bed, couch, and I love the artwork and house features. And if you need anything, you will find it...everything from a rice cooker to blender to martini glasses to every type of tea and spice you can think of. Oh, and there are plenty of fresh locally grown fruits, eggs, English muffins, juice, etc., so that you don't have to leave in the morning to TRY to find something for breakfast (difficult to do in Volcano!). We enjoyed hiking the Kilauea Iki Crater trail and then coming home to watch the Olympics on TV while all bundled up in the provided blankets while having a lovely fire burning in the gorgeous fireplace. We have stayed in numerous vacation rentals in Volcano, and this one is hands-down our favorite. But please don't book it when we want it again for next year! LOL

Wonderful little cottage design. Clean, well appointed, and accurately described. Cozy but not small. Simple but romantic. We spent tons of time in the Park and it was the perfect location for it. Mahalo! We definitely will return (and stay longer). It was so close to, and the perfect jumping off location to explore Volcano NP. If you like Thai food DO NOT miss the Thai restaurant in the village.

Very modern and thought-through house. Beds are comfortable. Every bedroom has separate bathroom. The kitchen is probably the best equipped kitchen I ever seen in rental house. The refrigerator was stuffed with food for breakfast, and not just any food, but quality and also delicious one! The house is surrounded by beautiful garden. The service was impeccable! Everything was clean and ready was us. The hosts even printed special letter with our names and all the information we needed. The location is right next to the Volcano National Park in the middle of Volcano Village. It is really convenient if you want to explore Volcano. It is also close to Hilo and other Puna sights.

Aloha. This is our 14th year of visiting these islands. We started this 23 day trip in Moloka'i and ended it here on the Big Island searching for the very best accommodations to unwind and relax, while experiencing the true essence of each island and the people. Pele's Secret Garden is simply the best. This is the most beautiful, comfortable, clean, and well equipped vacation house we have stayed in. Not to repeat the description and all the other excellent reviews, I just want to say everything was perfect, including the well stocked kitchen, very comfortable furnishings, gorgeous themed interior and exterior, full cable TV (TV in every room), high speed internet, stereo, free phone service, washer & dryer, breakfast items (eggs, variety of jellies, half & half, 100% Kona Coffee - sorry Peggy, we drank it all. We come from a coffee family and loved it - a Portuguese sausage, fresh fruit, and local cookies), firewood, comp. bottle of wine, luxurious towels, beach towels and linens (abundance of pillows of every variety), umbrellas, DVD's, CD's games, books, travel brochures on things to do, maps, wrap around porches with a hammock, rainforest foliage, birds, peace & quiet, privacy, dehumidifiers, stunning art, binoculars, jetted tub, showers, and complete instructions throughout the home. We had been to this area before, but came to visit an artist friend and revisit the local sights. However, we loved Pele's Secret Garden so much we spent most of our time in the house, content that it doesn't get any better. This is a perfect contrast to living on the ocean in Hawaii since only a few have that luxury. We visited our friend, the Volcano Art Center, the Crater Rim, Kalapana, the coast, and the Farmer's Market on Hwy 130, which included crafts for sale. There is no need to close the drapes as you are surrounded by a fern forest and the lot is very private and secure. Peggy, thank you for the precise instructions and for letting us stay in your amazing home. We will recommend the property to friends and relatives and hope to be back soon. Suggestion: come to the home before you go buy provisions since Peggy is very thoughtful in anticipating what you will need to get you started and more. Mahalo and smooth travels.

Comfortable and lovely, well kept and private. Owner provided thoughtful extras such as breakfast items, a bottle of wine, fruit, and fresh florals. Very prompt communication with owner as needed in booking. Excellent proximity to Nat'l Park. Overall, very highly recommended.

This lovely home was everything it described and more! The home was beautiful, clean and well appointed. We truly felt welcome. They thought of everything. We arrived to gifts of fresh local fruit, a bottle of wine and a refrigerator filled with necessities ! Thank you for a great place to stay!!

We stayed here for 5 nights in December and loved it. Extremely comfortable, completely appointed with everything one would need and more. In excellent condition. All of us loved it.

We have stayed at Pele's Secret Garden twice in the past six months, with different family members. Although we live on island, we like to spend a couple of nights when exploring the volcano, and Pele's S.G. is the real deal! So many VRBO's exaggerate their offerings, but this is exactly as described. Convenient, clean, charming, filled with beautiful things, comfortable beds and sofas. A hammock on the deck for sunny days and a fireplace for cool nights. Owner Peggy is gracious, generous, and communicative. Highly recommended.

This house was one of the most beautiful welcoming, tranquil places we've ever stayed, and it's located minutes from Volcanoes Nat'l park and other fabulous places to visit. From the minute you drive down the driveway you know you've found a little slice of heaven. Peggy, the owner could not have been more helpfufl or responsive when we booked this, and her hospitality continued with a beautiful note, fresh fruit, and bottle of wine and breakfast goodies to welcome us upon our arrival. My husband and I stayed her along with another couple for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed for 3 weeks. The little town of Volcano is also minutes away and has several restaraunts. We tried them all and found the food to be delicious in each. We would highly recommend this property for anyone.

Our family stayed two nights at this tropical paradise. Peggy has put much love and thought into her beautiful home, and does everything to make your stay enjoyable. We have stayed at many hotels and rental homes in our travels, and Pele's Secret Garden is one of our favorites. We thoroughly enjoyed the solitude and privacy, the well stocked kitchen, and the beautiful gardens and wrap around porch. The location cannot be beat. You are so close to VNP, and the village of Volcano, yet able to find incredible peace, relaxation, and privacy at Pele's secret Garden. Mahalo Peggy!

My family of 4 with 2 teenagers had a great stay here during our visit to Volcano. The house is very cozy and nice. My son gravitated to the hammock on the lanai. The wrap around sofa and fireplace are nice too. The whole house is very comforable. The birds visiting the bird feeder were beautiful. We stayed on a Sat. and Sun. night and there weren't many restaurants open on Sun. night in Volcano. Take that into account when planning. My family decided it was the most comfortable place we stayed on the island. It was also very nice to have breakfast food and fruit provided. The house is full of cozy and thoughtful gestures. Also, the neighborhood is mostly residential and was a good running place for my daughter. We visited the Volcano farmer's market and got good food and gifts to take home.

This home made our stay in Volcano very comfortable. We really appreciated the fresh fruit and well stocked kitchen. We had our 1 1/2 year old with us and despite the home not being baby proofed we were provided with a high chair complete with plate and spoon as well as a travel cot for the baby. The home was absolutely spotless, I cannot say enough good things about our stay. Thank you so much Peggy for all your attention to detail.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute. Would definately stay again, wished we could have stayed longer. Exceeded expections. Beautiful, well decorated, clean home with a stocked kitchen, feels like home. With 2 walls of solid windows in the open living/dining/kitchen area it feels like one is outside while being inside. Home is extremely quiet and peaceful in the middle of a subdivision, offset from the street, absolutely no road noise. Perfect location for exploring the volcano park. Owner is wonderful!

Wow - what a place to come and stay. It's just perfect. My husband and I loved every minute we had at Pele's Secret Garden. It had all the amenities we needed - including great Internet service (for some work). Quiet and secluded. Enjoyed laying on the hammock in the sun and laying in bed at night listening to the rain on the roof. Only minutes from the volcano and a few great restaurants just across the way in Volcano Village. We however - also enjoyed the convenience of a full kitchen - even a BBQ. Come and stay here - you will not be disappointed!

We stayed here for four nights after Christmas 2010 with our two kids (ages 8 and 15). The house was wonderful! The pictures don't do it justice! We enjoyed the spaciousness, the quiet setting, the convenience to the national park, and the many amenities in the house. We hated to leave! Peggy was a delight to work with and helped make this vacation one of our best ever!

If you think the pictures are nice, wait to see the actual property: It is better! The owner Peggy is also very nice and helpful, which definitly contributed to the fantastic experience we had at this place. When we arrived, we found a tray full of tropical fruits left for us on the kitchen counter. We bought some groceries on our way, realizing that we didn't really need them. My wife and I were travelling with our one year old baby and her crib was already set up when we arrived. We only stayed for 3 nights, which was very short, given the comfortable home and beautiful surroundings. It was very difficult to leave, believe me. We will definitely be back and this time for a longer stay!
