The studio is sweet. The bed sleeps well,..in fact the pillows we used for sleeping were so so so nice!! The lanai is perfect with a high table and two tall chairs that we loved using! The view is really nice. The tv in the room is large and smart, so we were able to log in to amazon and Netflix. It's a very nice space. Our vacation was perfect!! PS just off the bathroom area there's a little "room"/large closet with a dresser. It's a great place to stash your suitcase etc...The owner was so very easy to communicate with.

This was my second stay in 313 and it was lovely. The kitchen has everything you need. Very comfy bed and lots of small touches to make you feel at home.Sunsets are beautiful from the lanai.The owner is very responsive to any needs or concerns.Hope to return again!

This was my third stay at The Whaler and this is the best condo I have stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, well maintained and had lots of little extras for a comfortable stay (books, board games, fully equipped kitchen, beach chairs & umbrellas, bathroom & cleaning supplies). Sadly, I arrived the day before the fires started so didn’t get to enjoy it. The owner very kindly refunded my payment. I didn’t ask, she just did it. Thank you for your kindness, Ethel. I am very grateful and hope to return when Maui has recovered from this awful tragedy.

The condo was immaculate and felt very at home. Everything was available to cook with, clean with and even books to read on the veranda. Waking up each morning to the sound of the ocean was calming and at peace. To be just steps from the beach where you can snorkel with sea turtles and fish was truly amazing. This was by far the best vacation we have had. With plans to visit The Whaler again.
Ethel Grant was there for us when we had questions and kept us "in the loop" with the process. We will be back Ethel, the location of the condo was priceless.

With the exception of a few small items, this studio was adequate for our needs.The view from the balcony was fantastic. We love the ammenities, and the convenient location to restaurants and shopping. On the whole, our stay here was great!

Ethel was very easy to get in touch with and answered the booking and any follow up questions promptly.
The property at the Whaler is beautiful with beachfront access and short proximity to the mall and other resorts, it severed us well.
The room itself is a little dated but comes with a beautiful ocean view to start or finish the day off and has all supplies within the unit to make for a good holiday.
We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

First of all this unit has the three most important attributes: Location Location Location. It also has a very comfortable bed, a fully equipped kitchen, beach chairs and umbrellas; everything you need for a great beach vacation. We were very pleased and had a great time.

The condos are mostly privately owned. Well taken care of the facilities are quiet, clean, and very charming. When we come to Maui, we only stay at the Whaler and our friends house.

We love the place, the property, the proximity to shopping, eateries and the walk-out to the beach and boardwalk. We have great response from the property owner and always great service. We've stayed 3 years in a row at this same unit. We would like to see some upgrades with new carpeting and fixtures to make it even more appealing.

The unit is dated, needs some attention to detail. Reminded me of an old cliche, you get what you pay for.
Ethel the owner was very easy to deal with and responded to all my questions and needs in a timely manner. Kitchen was well stocked and chairs, umbrella and cooler came in handy. Getting the TV to work on a consistent basis was challenging, instructions to operate are outdated and don’t match the current channel changer, had to have maintenance come up twice to fix. Also, might consider updating the TV in this unit.
We had no wash cloths or Kleenex tissue for our 9 night stay.
This was my 7th stay at The Whaler and the first time in a studio, the other 6 times were either a 1BR/1BA or 1BR/2BA, for future stays will be going back to the the 1BR units.
Lastly I want to thank Ethel for the late check out on our last day, it helped a lot.

My wife and I spent a week at Ethel’s place at the Whaler on Kaanapali Beach. It was exactly what we needed. Ethel’s place was clean, the view from the lanai was amazing, and she even had an old vintage CD player with Hawaiian music CD’s that my wife loved.
We ate most breakfasts and lunches on the lanai, and it was so nice to have a workable microwave, stove, and oven. Even little things like a cooler, and a beach umbrella were really appreciated.

The property was every bit as described! The unit has a fantastic view from the balcony - overlooks the garden with a pool and ocean view ! We enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning and cocktails in the evening! The unit came with everything we needed! Ethel (owner) and Gladys (property manager) were very responsive. Although we had an issue with the check-in, I still gave a 5 star rating because Ethel immediately resolved the issue and because we had to wait for the unit to be cleaned she gave us a gift certificate for dinner at a local restaurant which was a fantastic place to eat - we had several meals there during our stay! The delay gave us time to walk around and check out the area and shop for a few items we knew we would need for our stay. For a studio, it seemed very spacious! There was a welcome package with goodies - including hand sanitizer and other nice and convenient amenities! The staff at the Whaler are very welcoming and helpful! Whoever is lucky to get a chance to stay at Ethel’s place will find themselves fortunate to have found a comfortable, clean and welcoming home away from home!

Spent 12 nights in 313 and it went by in a flash. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen was supplied very well with everything we needed. Loved the keurig coffee maker. The views from the lanai were wonderful. The t.v. was easy to use . I love how accessible the unit is to the pool, the beach and the ABC store!
The owner (Ethel) was very understanding and generous when I needed to reschedule on very short notice due to a covid 19 surge on Maui last summer. It made this trip even sweeter.
I hope to return to 313 again. Great place to stay!

I am sad to write this review because it means that our time at this amazing condo is over. Unit 313 exceeded surpassed every dream we had for a beach stay in Maui. Not only is the location perfect for first time travelers, the unit was set up with anything and everything we could possibly need for our stay. The staff at the Whaler went out of their way to make sure we were well cared for and our host checked in with us to ensure we were enjoying our stay. Parking was as easy as could be, the pool and jacuzzi were top notch, but it was the interior of the unit that took it to the next level. The bed was super comfy and the decor set the tone for a true Hawaiian vacation. We had so much fun sitting watching the whales breach from the lanai. We now dream of returning to this beautiful unit again someday- best vacation stay ever!

I was concerned about this property since it was smaller than other condos we have rented in this area in the past but it was so well put together we hardly noticed the size. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the lanai were beautiful as described. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the ice maker in the freezer. The elevators were plentiful and quick. The excursions we set up were either a short walk away or a very short drive so the location was perfect. We would rent this unit again in the future.

"Hi Ethel. First off, let me just say AMAZING! We truly enjoyed our stay and your condo was perfect for so many reasons. Whales, whales and more whales! Wow! The lanai is a great place to enjoy at any time of day. A cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening were my favorite times, and lunch was an easy second. The location was another plus for us. Easy access to Whaler’s Village for shopping and great dinners and of course the various catamaran choices for whale watching excursions. This resort is pretty low keyed and beautifully maintained, which is just what we were looking for. Lots of families and room to spread out. It’s away from all the big hotels and busyness, however a short walk to shopping, nightlife if you’re looking for that. This was a long overdue getaway for my husband and I and a perfect location to jump in the car for day trips to all the amazing locations that make visiting Maui a lifetime memory!

# 313 at the Whalers is in the perfect location. The view of the garden, pool, and ocean is a spectacular setting for sunsets or people watching. The kitchen was beyond well-stocked complementary beach chairs, pool noodles, cooler, and beach umbrella made our daily jaunt to the beach a pleasure. Communication with the host was seamless. We absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was very clean and exactly as it had been described. The kitchen is very well stocked, there's a free washer/dryer a few steps away, and the beach amenities were very useful. The bed is extremely comfortable. We liked that the condo was on the third floor, as most of the time we used the stairs and skipped the elevators. We used the fitness center a few times, and enjoyed that. The location is perfect (I think it's one of the best locations in Maui). What else can be said about the balcony and that view? It's gorgeous. Many hours were spent just relaxing and enjoying the view. We will definitely be back!

There are not enough words to describe just how in love we are with this place! My wife and I booked it for our honeymoon, and right from the beginning Ethel was amazing. I accidentally booked our trip for the wrong week, and she quickly and kindly walked me through rebooking for the proper time!
The place is so charming, quaint, comfortable, and beautiful. We had everything we could ask for, including beach gear, and knowing we were returning from each day's adventure to such a homey place was so comforting. Ethel's Whaler unit 313 is wonderful! Amazing sunrise and sunset ocean views daily from the lanai. The Whaler grounds are immaculate and beautiful. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The unit had everything we needed for a fabulous trip to Maui and was very clean. Ethel responded to my questions immediately by email and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed after check in. Lovely gift basket was waiting for us--the coffee was the best! The Whaler location is wonderful--great views, steps from the beach, a walking path along the beach, lots of water activities, close to shopping and restaurants, close to Lahaina Town, etc.. The resort is generally quiet and peaceful. Thanks, Ethel, we hope to be back!
