We had horrible flight delays, but Steve was great to work with and made sure the lights were on when we finally arrived at 3am. We awoke the next morning to paradise; the view from the master bedroom feels like you died and went to heaven. Our 3 grown children couldn't believe how close the beach/water was and how amazing the views are. We rented snorkels from Hanalei Surf Co, which seemed better price/condition than bigger names in Kapaa (previous trips). We loved the water just out front of the rental and down at Tunnels. We did a tour with Napali Catamaran that was amazing with much more time along the coast than Tours out of Port Alan. There were a couple reviews talking about noise from the neighbors, but all we ever heard was the waves and trade winds. We did stop by the cute little coffee shop next door and had a good dinner at Opakapaka. We enjoyed all the fresh fruit from local farmers markets and cooked fresh fish from blue dolphin several nights. There was a small but good selection of leftover spices and condiments, and most of the kitchen tools you’d need for making breakfast, lunch and dinners. We appreciated having sharp knives as many VRBOs don’t provide good cutlery. Steve provided a large array of cleaning and household products - 1st VRBO we didn’t need to buy TP, paper towels, trashbags or dish soap. Beds were all comfortable and bath towels were amazing. Lots of beach chairs and towels to use. Can’t wait to come back to this amazing place!!!!

I functionally stay in high end resorts for a living so I've seen a bit. The house was amazing, right on the sand, the teens snorkeled functional right in front of the house and saw turtles etc. The overall location is simply magical, it doesn't get any better. The owner Steve was fantastic on communication, helped easily with a few pre trip things. We will definitely be returning !!

Perfect spot for family getaway. Quiet, a nice snorkeling spot, and overall…absolutely wonderful!! It rained heavily one day, so the ceiling in master bath dripped a bit. Hint to dishwasher- push buttons, then close the door.

The location of this house can't be beat- stunning views of the ocean. Sit on the deck and enjoy the sound of the waves. The quiet beach is two steps away. We were a group of "active seniors". The house is so close to Ha'ena State Park and Limahuli Garden. The town of Hanalei is just a short drive away, with plenty of restaurants, shopping and Hanalei pier. Princeville is also close by with beautiful golfing. We had made dinner plans for all of our night, but ended up staying in and cooking several nights. We just didn't want to leave! Communication with Steve, the owner, was so easy. He was very attentive to all of our questions and requests. We will be back!

My sister and I brought my parents to this lovely home for their 65th anniversary. We had a great time! My dad had a little trouble with the steep stairs to the front door but otherwise the house is great. The kitchen is well stocked, and the beds and furniture comfy. We brought the patio cushions inside so they could dry out.

This was the best vacation spot we have ever had! We went there with our adult children. There was plenty of room for the six of us. Sometimes we have trouble finding a house with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. This house had all that and was just beautiful! And nothing was lacking. It was perfectly located on the beach. Beautiful sunrises, whales, and sea monks. I cannot recommend this place more highly. One reservation we had before booking it was that we saw that there was a restaurant next door and we were concerned about the noise. Once we arrived, we never even knew it was there. The residents of the island are respectful of quiet times. We didn’t want to leave when it was time to come home!

We rented this beachfront (literally) home from Steve for a family vacation. None had been to Kauai previously. We loved tge location and accommodations! Conveniently located close to Hanalei as well as Princeville. The house has excellent views from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom of the beach and north shore ocean. The deck was great and is exactly as shown online. We saw several whales spouts and i captured a whale breaching on my iphone. My spouse saw a dozen-ish sea turtles in the water. We swam in the ocean right outside the house and felt like we had a semiprivate beach. Two adult sons rented snorkel gear in Hanalei for $6 and had a good time near the reef offshore and saw several fish. It was convenient to hike the Kalalau Trail (we took the Haena Beach shuttle from a park and ride location at Waipā (not far from house ~15 min drive). We also enjoyed hiking the Waimea Canyon Trail, but be advised its about a 2hour drive from the house to the trail on the south end of the island. Very enjoyable stay!

We spent 7 nights at the home. It provided ample space for 6 adults. The view from the windows and balcony were priceless. It truly had everything we needed. We swam right behind the home and snorkeled. A must.

We have never stayed in a house so close to the ocean in Hawaii. It was amazing. The sounds of the ocean, the monk seal coming to rest on the beach right in front of the house, the back porch directly above the beach, the cleanliness of the house…it was all perfect. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Or stay was awesome. The house was fully equipped. Beds and living space were very comfortable. The location really couldn’t have been better. We spent a lot of time on the beach right in front of the property and it was an awesome beach walk to Tunnels Beach area.

My family and I really loved our stay in this house. The views out the back windows and patio are unreal and the sound of the crashing waves make for the best night’s sleep. This house had every possible thing we needed for our family of five to enjoy the week. We used the kitchen to cook some easy meals. We had plenty of towels and blankets. The master bed was very comfortable. We used the beach chairs every day. The host was very kind and helpful. The snorkeling right outside the door was the best snorkeling we did on the island. The beach feels very private and secluded. We went down to Poipu Beach one day and didn’t know what to do with ourselves with such a packed beach. We will never forget the memories we made this trip!

Excellent location if you want privacy and immediate access to the beach. The house is located among other upscale homes right along a perfect stretch of ocean. Tons of excellent snorkeling spots where you’ll find turtles and a huge variety of reef fish. The house itself was perfect for our family. Everything is well maintained and very clean. The Colony resort next door has a great restaurant with a talented chef. I recommend their deserts! In all this was a perfect vacation. Thank you Steve and Vrbo!

We had an amazing stay in Hanalei! Love the north shore and you cannot beat this location, this beach, and these VIEWS! Steve was incredibly responsive and a wonderful host. We had discussed there being a pack and play there prior to our stay and we couldn’t find one upon arrival. We contacted Steve about where to possibly buy one ourselves and he had his manager drop one off in less than an hour and told us to enjoy our vacation! Great stay!

August 2023
We spent an entire week lulled by the crashing waves and watching the sunrise over the horizon at this glorious home. Snorkeling was always one of our intentions, and it doesn’t get better than a few hundred feet from the house. Coffee house next store was a daily treat, not to mention an indulgence at the Day Spa. Since many houses in Kauai are not air conditioned (and so very hot in the summer), this house was easily 10+ degrees cooler with the trade winds, which was amazing! Steve was extraordinarily responsive from the minute we first contacted him 8 months prior to our arrival and throughout

Thanks so much for hosting us at your wonderful home. It was super clean and just like the photos. The beach right in front of the property was gorgeous and you can walk to the point (1 min walk) and be in sandy water with no rocks. All the amenities were great and Steve was extremely easy to contact. The house is like a ten minute drive from restaurants/stores in Hanalei. The place was so nice! Would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

Gorgeous views from many rooms. We loved our stay at this special place. Well stocked home and very spacious. Easy to check in and Steve was very helpful and responsive. House was very clean. Beach access is so easy and location not too far from Hanalei Bay. Highly recommend!

June 2023
This place is AWESOME!!!! The views are amazing and the restaurant food next door not bad. Some of my guest were worried about the no A/C but you really don't need it there is a constant ocean breeze we never really noticed. There is so much to explore on Kauai. The house is nice and had pretty much everything we needed . I definitely would recommend this property. I will visit again.

June 2023
This home was the perfect choice for our vacation. The pictures represent the location accurately. It is directly oceanfront. So close you could throw a shell into the ocean if you wanted to. Beautiful sunrises woke us every morning. Sunsets were also partially visible from the sandy point next door. Snorkeling was easily accessible. It’s located near Hanalei- where there are plenty of restaurants, stores, and a grocery. Tunnels beach is 1 mile past the house. A perfect location. The house was completely stocked with linens, beach towels and chairs, soaps, paper products, etc. Bedding and furniture were very comfortable. All appliances were top notch- functioned perfectly. Steve was an incredibly responsive host. He knew we would be arriving late and he had the lights on throughout the house when we arrived. We texted a few questions throughout our stay, which he replied to promptly. Since he was on island we had the pleasure of meeting him in person. He actually came and sat on the phone with the cable company to fix an issue we were unable to resolve. That’s a great host! We 100% recommend this house and this host. We were sad to leave and hope to return in the future.

June 2023
Without a doubt, the Northshore of Kauai is a spectacular place. Rainbows, waterfalls and gorgeous, lush mountains everywhere you look. This house is very private with direct access to the beach. The best snorkeling we did on the island was just yards from the shore outside the property. Located 15 minutes by car from Hanalei and restaurants and activities. It is a laid back, relaxed community. There is a decent restaurant called Opakapaka that is right next door. The house had plenty of amenities. Fully stocked kitchen, master bedroom with 180 degree views of gorgeous waves and shoreline. The master bath allowed you to take a private shower while still looking out over the beauty of the shoreline. Plenty of room to lounge for everyone in the family. Brand new 68" TV, but to be honest we never turned it on during our day. It was sacrilegious not to face the magnificent shoreline and stunning views. The home is a good 20 feet into the air which provides unobstructed views of Hanalei Bay all the way to Princeville -- but might be more challenging for those who don't like or have trouble with stairs. The beach has started to erode away, and the water right in front of the house does not have a sandy bottom. The current can be strong, so it is always best to know your own limits. There is a point to the left of the house about 25 yards away. If you stay to the left of the point, you will find the best snorkeling on the island with a more gentile current.

The views from this property are magnificent! The sound of the surf is wonderful! Being able to walk to great snorkeling was a treat. There is no question that a location this close to the ocean is special and worth 5 stars. The little town of Hanalei, about 4 miles from the house, has a lovely, laid back vibe and some wonderful food. The furnishings inside the house (bed, couch, dining area) were comfortable and the air flow with open windows was great. We were, however, not thrilled with the state of the outdoor furniture. We sure wish the “new outside furniture” mentioned in a response to a previous review had arrived for our Spring ‘23 visit. While the house met our needs, we do wish that more maintenance items had been completed prior to our visit. We did text Steve a few times with questions and minor issues and his responses were quick. Please note that a resort/restaurant is located right next door and we enjoyed our one dinner there. The downside is that outdoor lighting from the restaurant shines directly onto the deck and into the master bedroom. One night there was an event with very loud music that amazingly transcended the sound of the ocean. Fortunately, the music stopped at 9PM.

Best feature was the view from the living room! Really awesome. Steve was attentive and responded to texts quickly. The bedrooms are spaced apart nicely. There were beach chairs and an inflatable innertube we used. (At least one snorkel set, too, but we brought our own anyway.) Would rent again!

The property is stunning! Gorgeous views from every window. I haven’t slept the same since leaving. The beds were so comfortable and the sound of rolling waves made for the best sleep even with jet lag. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and you just can’t beat the location. Great snorkeling in your backyard and tunnels is just up the road. We also highly recommend Opakapaka next door. The ahi poke nachos are stupid delicious. Steve has excellent communication and we would definitely book again!

March 2023
Loved the location and beautiful surrounding environment. We had a variety of weather and great to watch the changing sea conditions from the house. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The beach out front ideal for the children when the weather was calm. Saw monk seals almost every day, enjoyed the crystal clear night sky and spectacular Tunnels Beach nearby. Overall a wonderful stay in a unique location where you feel at one with nature. Thank you Steve

March 2023
We truly enjoyed our stay and loved the views and beach access from this beachfront retreat. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. I will say the house and some furnishings are worn and typical of a home exposed to the sea and elements. I can’t imagine the upkeep it must take and only appreciate the opportunity to relax here and spend such quality time with our adult children. Steve was wonderful and went out of his way to handle our requests.

February 2023
We had a wonderful family/friend time at the house. Though it rained a lot, the house was so well located right on the beach, we never felt confined. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious for 6 adults. Amenities were as advertised. Steve was responsive and gracious host. Just a gorgeous setting! We definitely will return!

January 2023
The property was exactly as advertised-- beautiful, comfortable, clean, lovely. Our family of five was very happy there. The owner was incredibly responsive, from first contact and throughout the stay. It's an incredibly relaxing spot-- the sound of the ocean is so powerful and soothing. The ocean, at least in January, was a bit rough for our littlest swimmer (8-years-old), so we had to drive a little bit for a calmer beach scene for her. However, she passed hours with her big sister looking for seashells. The best shells were just past the resort next door, FYI. We enjoyed dinner next door one evening, but found it very easy to drive into town or cook at home. The property has sand chairs and more beach towels than you'll ever need. We so appreciated this! On rainy days, it gets a bit moist in the house (furniture gets a bit damp, etc.), but it passes as soon as the weather clears. Perhaps it would have been better if we closed up all the windows, but the sounds of the rain and surf were not to be missed! If a relaxing retreat is what you want, this is definitely the place.

TL S.
January 2023
No crowded beaches. Perfect place for relaxation. Close enough to get out and about if chilling by the water is not all you want to do. Home accommodated 6 adults with plenty of privacy and space. December waves made snorkeling at tunnels and in front of home a little challenging if you are not a strong swimmer but reef was colorful and vibrant.

David A.
November 2022
Location, location, location! Literally on the beach, on a coral reef, next door to a bar/restaurant with live music, adjacent to world class hiking. It really couldn't get much better. Mahalo, Steve!

November 2022
This house is right on the beach with absolutely incredible sunrises. Has all amenities you need. A twenty minute walk to tunnels beach had the best snorkeling we’ve ever experienced. When we arrived and found that the sink didn’t drain, Steve responded right way with help. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

October 2022
We absolutely loved our 11-night stay at the Haena beachfront property. The house is quite spacious with 3 large bathrooms and 3 bedrooms (with super comfy Tempurpedic mattresses), full kitchen, grill and indoor + outdoor dining tables. The best part of the property is its remote location (5 minute drive to nearest convenience store, 15 minutes to Hanalei and grocery stores, restaurants, etc). There is only 1 road in and out, so it makes the area feel very private. The beach directly in front has beautiful black lava rocks and tide pools at low tide (our 3 year old loved looking for crabs). But about 100 yards away is a GORGEOUS secluded beach with incredible snorkeling. Better than Tunnels in our opinion, and significantly less crowded (only 1 other couple there). We saw tons of fish, sea turtle, and coral (although sadly much of it was bleached). The ocean air does cause salt damage to a lot of household items, so much of it is not brand new. But we found it very charming and fitting for the north shore area! There is also no A/C which is good to know in advance. We ran the fans at night and had windows open, but it could get hot during the day (mostly due to the ocean facing views). Steve was super helpful with check-in and giving recommendations for local attractions. The house is definitely a great value and we hope to return in the future! Mahalo!

Amanda W.
August 2022
This place is great, right on the beach. It is a very nice house with great views, and then you can walk out right to the sand. The furniture and beds are comfortable. There is a reef in front of the house, and snorkeling is decent. It is good for beginning snorkelers, and my 7 year old son learned to snorkel here which was awesome! We can't wait to come back again.

Elizabeth G.
June 2022
My family of 5 had a wonderful stay here. The location is perfect. We enjoyed exploring the North Shore and then returning to what felt like our own private beach. We snorkeled right out back and enjoyed seeing the monk seals resting on the shore. The house was confortable without a/c. Steve was quick to respond to maintenance issues.

Rebecca N.
June 2022
This is the absolute best place to experience the sights, sounds of the ocean and the beauty of the North Shore. The entire living area and master bedroom have unforgettable views. The sounds of the waves rolling in and the smell of the sea air and the deck that puts you right in the middle of nature makes this place a unique experiential way to become part of the surroundings.. The open floor plan with huge windows and very functional kitchen and dining area and comfortable living area continue this experience. There were enough beach towels and chairs for our family.. It is minutes away from Haena and Tunnels Beaches and close to Hanalei Bay. We will definitely stay here again.

Melissa B.
May 2022
We loved our 10 night stay at this beautiful property! The description of the property is completely accurate, and the owner Steve is very responsive. The beach at the house is amazing and fun 1 mile walk to Tunnels Beach. The famous Hanakapi'ai Trail is just down the road, but you do need to purchase entry tickets for this trail (30 days prior from hiking date). It's a short and gorgeous drive to Hanalei with many restaurants and shopping. Right next door is Opakapaka Grill & Bar, which has awesome drinks and great food. Also next door is a cute coffee shop with muffins, drinks, arts and jewelry. You won't regret renting this house!

Dennis B.
May 2022
On the plus side, the location is truly ocean front as advertised. Steve was very responsive (although it took 2 days to get repaired) as far as resolving an initial problem - no electricity in 2nd bedroom. On the not so good side, the house seemed to be in a state of disrepair and really needs a significant makeover and updating.

Michael B.
April 2022
Great experience. Property is amazing. New living room furniture is very nice and comfortable. Open air house was comfortable without A/C. Would definitely go back!

Langdon M.
April 2022
On the plus side: The location couldn't be better. You are very close to Hanalei and all the charms of that sweet little town. The grocery and liquor store are both well-stocked. It is a short, maybe 50 yard, walk to the reef-protected beach for safe swimming and snorkeling. The bedrooms are large with very comfortable beds and large bathrooms. The jalousie windows allow for wonderful air circulation and protection from rain. There are plenty of bath towels and beach towels. The laundry area is large and useful for storage of wet suits and water toys. Good TVs and good WiFi. There is a nice grill. On the down side are a few things which should be mentioned, but needn't affect your enjoyment of the house if you have some flexibility. The kitchen is very basic. There isn't much by way of seasonings/oils/basic cooking supplies. The outdoor deck is pretty narrow, but it has a wonderful view! The living room is disappointing. There is a couch and an easy chair which are covered in some sort of plush material which always feels damp. And there is a broken lounge chair. It's a little like your first apartment... So, if you are looking for luxury appointments, this is not the place for you. However, if you plan to spend most of your time enjoying the sun, surf, and Kauai's natural beauty - this is perfect!!

Richard S.
March 2022
Our party of 3 couples enjoyed our two weeks at this property. The location is excellent. This house has a great deck with great ocean views and beach access. It would be nice if beach chairs were included . The interior of the house could use updating but we spent little time indoors . Overall a great property for a beach vacation.

Joan M.
February 2022
We had a hiccup at check in but the owner responded and resolved the issue in a timely manner. The location is perfect for beach lovers and it's wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. The kitchen is well equipped. There are plenty of towels for bath and beach. The beds are comfy. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. The living room furniture could use a refresh but overall the property is a good spot for a quiet, relaxing beach vacation.

Brianna H.
February 2022
Our stay was great! We were so impressed by the view from the house. The house is spacious and we loved hearing the waves and feeling the breeze throughout the day. Beach is steps away and feels very secluded. Steve was always available and very communicative. Would love to stay here again!

February 2022
This property is ideal if you would like a peaceful and beautiful natural beach location. The home is truly about 20 footsteps from entry of home to the quiet sandy beach. Walking on the beach morning and evening was such a pleasant and relaxing experience s we watched the every changing ocean and shoreline.. Sunrises are amazing as is the property owner. There were a few times we needed to contact the owner and he either returned the call or txt immediately or answered the call personally. We had a couple of hiccups with the dishwasher and jacuzzi, but all worked out. This home is truly a beach home, clean, but in need of a freshening. The location, the reliability and personal attention of the owner made up for any of the relaxed care of the home. We would definitely rent the property again.

January 2022
We had a great stay at this property. It is all that is advertised, the location was perfect for what we wanted. The house is directly on the beach. We basically lived on the deck of the house, which had such great views overlooking the ocean. The beach itself was very quiet, with few people on that area of the beach the entire week. We cooked several times, and the kitchen functioned well, with more than enough kitchenware for the 3 of us, probably enough for 6-8. The house is stocked with lots of towels, both for the bathrooms and the beach. The master bed was comfortable and well-appointed, and the bathroom was huge. The owner, Steve, was very responsive, although we really did not need anything. He provides more than enough information to guests. Guests should understand that the location, perfect for us, may not be for everyone. It is a stunning, slow 15 minute drive to Hanalei, complete with Kauai's unique 1-lane bridges. We loved it but others may find the location to be a bit too quiet. Next door is a local restaurant, Opakapaka Grill and Bar, at the Hanalei Colony Resort. The food was very good. Also there is the Hanalei Day Spa, with excellent services if you want to indulge. The combination of a comfortable house, a great outdoor space, a quiet beach location, and a courteous host made for a great and restful week of vacation.

The best thing about this property is its location, literally on a beautiful beach. The house comfortably accommodated 6 adults to provide a fabulous Hawaii vacation. Recommend highly.

November 2021
Our family had such a wonderful time staying right on the beach in Hanalei, HI - Unbelievable views, snorkeling daily right in front of the house, and such a great location for shopping, hiking, or dining. Steve was so easy to work with and so helpful planning and organizing the trip. The house already had so many needed things available to make the trip successful. We would definitely stay again in the same location.

Great location on the north shore!

October 2021
My wife and I had a fantastic time staying at this house right on the beach! Even on rougher days the reef offers enough protection for swimming and snorkeling. It is not an easy walk on the beach but Tunnels is still within walking distance but the snorkeling in front of the house was better! We saw, multiple sea turtles, tons of fish, an octopus, and lots of coral while snorkeling. Also had a monk seal relaxing right on the beach next to the house on 4 different occasions. The location itself is great, it’s close to Hanalei which is where all of the restaurants and shops are but far enough away to feel truly away from it all. If you are looking for a relaxing beachfront vacation on Kauai you would be hard pressed to find a better option!

Renting this place was a treat for us after the long pandemic grind, and a treat, it was. The house was spacious; the views were spectacular, and the beds were very comfy. Going to sleep every night to the sounds of the ocean was incredible. The only small issue I saw is that it would have been nice if there had been some beach chairs at the house: there were some plastic taller chairs, but those would have blown away with the wind when you got in the water. Otherwise, this place was spectacular and will be recommending to our friends.

We had the most amazing week celebrating my husbands 60th birthday! Took our adult kids, spouses and grandbaby! The set up was perfect with everyone having private bedroom and bath! Views are amazing!!! This was our second time vacationing at this home and we will back!!

September 2021
We had a wonderful time at this property. It was really close to what you would expect if you read the summary and the reviews, which is appreciated. The house is located in Haena. If you are familiar with the North Shore, the home is past all of the one-way bridges (4 total) next to Opakapaka restaurant (which was convenient as there is also a small coffee shop there. This last March, the rains caused damage to the wall above the road to Hanelai, so the road to the rest of the island is closed at certain points of every day. This is an inconvenience but totally manageable if you plan appropriately. Remember you are here to relax so if you have to wait in line for the bridges or roadwork, roll down your windows and enjoy. The house was probably updated in the 2000’s so sea air has caused some rusting and other wear and tear but the space is nice, clean and open. The views are the best and your access to the beach is amazing. The waves can be strong and the semi-private beach quickly is replaced by lava (and then sand again in the water - see video). We brought water shoes which made this almost no issue. If you want high surf just walk to the beach around the bend on your right; if you want no surf/waves and/or wonderful snorkeling, just walk to the beach around the bend to your left. The waves are loud (as noted) but we found them soothing at night. If you are a light sleeper and need silence, this is not the place but if you enjoy waking up to beautiful sunrises, book here.

The location of this property is incredible. Access to the north shore beaches is the best possible as you’re right on the beach at this location. Check in was nice and easy and owners were very communicative. There is construction and road closures outside of Princeville due to a mudslide so if you’re traveling in the near future check for delays. The only constructive feedback is that the home has some wear and tear, but is certainly a great place.

The location right on the beach is lovely. We very much enjoyed our stay. Our only issue was associated with the fact that the only road to the rental has been flooded out since March. We were not aware of this until one week before our trip in July. Access to the area is limited to a few hours per day, which created some challenges for us in terms of the other plans we had on the island. Future guests should be aware of these restrictions well in advance so that they may fully enjoy Thursday. Otherwise, very pleased with the property and the experience.

We shared a beautiful time with our family at this home. Memories that will last a lifetime. We had our family in and out at various times. It was a great location. Beautiful sunrises. Great views. Sunsets each evening. We loved Hanalei. It had everything we needed. Such a cute and personable community. The 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were perfect. The trade winds breeze was awesome. The constant sound of waves crashing was mesmerizing. We came home to 100* temps. No breeze. Lots of mosquitos. So I already miss Kauai. It’s an awesome place to vacation. ❤️❤️

My Family and I had a fabulous time at this house! Just as described. My husband and I walked to tunnels beach the first morning-about 20-25 minutes. Taking our time enjoying every minute. The drive is 4 minutes! My family loves the North Shore. The snorkeling out in front is just as good as Tunnels. The past few trips we have stayed in Anini Beach but we were thrilled to be closer to Tunnels and Hanalei Bay. We will be coming back! The second day we saw a Turtle swimming and Bat Rays! All the windows in the Front have a view of the ocean and we enjoyed waking up to the amazing sunrise. At night we would walk to the corner-(literally right in front of the house)to enjoy the sunset. A few mornings we walked next store to the coffee shop. The owner there is very friendly. Steve answered all of our questions even months prior. It would take him sometimes minutes to respond! Once we got there we had no need to communicate-everything was perfect. We highly recommend this house. Our family trip was magical

Nice house in an amazing location. Steve was a very responsive host. The beach is very nice and the reef provides wonderful snorkeling and a safe place for kids to swim. We also loved just walking down the nearby residential roads to enjoy the amazing plants and wildlife. The 3 bedrooms and 3 baths worked well for our family of 4 plus my parents. Our stay was in early June and we did have consistent strong winds on a few days. I think this was just random weather as we didn't see other reviews mentioning this for the summer months, but kept us from enjoying the deck and housefront beach on a few days. On those days we went right around the point to the west and it was calmer. All in all, a great house and great host.

Fantastic location! Remote yet a short drive to Hanalei. Also convenient with restaurant and coffee shop right next door. Really enjoyed being able to lay on the beach and snorkel right out the back door!

It is in every sense the most perfect beach vacation house. Great location – the house is right on the swimmable (beware of currents, though) little beach; you just need to descend the stairs and you are right there. It is also adjacent many beautiful and famous beaches of the Kauai North shore – they are in mostly waking, or a very short driving, distance, where one can jump the waves, snorkel, or try windsurfing. From the house you can see sunrise, and, if you take a short walk to the left, you can see sunset as well. Stores, ice-cream shacks, cafes and restaurants are a short drive away. Superb ambiance – nothing else to wish for. To begin with, the house is spotlessly clean and is very well designed and maintained. Photographs describe the house with complete accuracy - it does not disappoint. Just want to mention that the kitchen is very well equipped (every appliance is in evidence). Also, beds are very comfortable; the ventilation is extremely clever and allows the house to remain cool throughout. And, the great attraction of the house is the porch stretching full length of the house: to have meals (there are a table and chairs there), gaze at the ocean, watch the sunrise, and sunbathe. Parking is under the house, so your car(s) will not get hot. Thank you very much Steve!

We arrived in Kauai and wended our way north from the airport to our home of the next 4 days. Never having spent any time in this part of Hawaii, we did not know what to expect. Well, there was nothing to worry about…this beautiful 3 bedroom home exceeded our dreams. It was right on the sand, literally…the living space is on the second floor above the carport, overlooking the beautiful Pacific. The home was clean, each couple had our own bedroom and bath with plenty of dresser and closet space. The kitchen was well appointed, we stayed in and cooked a couple of nights and found everything necessary to create the meals we made. In the mornings we sat on the balcony, drinking coffee and watching the sunrise. The only way to describe the colors is “saturated.” Every picture we took looks like the color was amped up, but it wasn’t, the aqua of the ocean meeting the soft umber of the sand drifting up to the emerald grasses… Haena sounds a little like “heaven” and that’s what it felt like. Everything about the house was perfect, the one thing that was most concerning to me before arriving was having wi-fi, often that can be problematic. It was like being at home, accessible and fast. What made our stay even better was the owner, Steve, he answered every question we had and made sure to give us his cell phone number in case of any emergencies or last minute queries. GO! And rent this home for a week or two or three… You will return every year to enjoy this little corner of the world. Aloha!

I cannot remember how many times we stayed at this house. At least four times over the years. We love it here. It just does not get any better than this location. Oceanfront with one of the best snorkeling reefs and UN-crowded beaches literally steps from your large ocean view balcony. We have explored many beaches on Kauai. There are many good ones but what is great about this place is that you are staying right there! And if you have been to Kauai before than you know the good places get really crowded. Not this place. Very few people know about this place. This place is far away from the crowds. Only surrounded by a few vacation rentals and mostly private hi-end residences. The house is all windows overlooking the ocean/reef. Three big bedrooms and three huge bathrooms all beautiful. This location is super close to all the good North shore beaches. Short drive to Hanalei. Don't forget the farmer's market for fresh local grown fruits & vegetables. Lot's of great Aloha spirit on the North Shore.

We usually stay at a timeshare resort but this year we decided to rent a house and we are glad we rented this place. The house was very nice and clean and spacious. It's right on the water and close to Tunnels Beach where we did most of our snorkeling. Steve the owner was very easy to deal with. We had no issues with this property and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!!

We wanted to try something new and decided to rent a house on the beach for our family of six, which included four children ages 9-16. I was a little concerned about the kids not being entertained enough because of the lack of hotel amenities, but throughout the trip we never once thought that we would of had more fun staying at a hotel. We had the beach to ourselves virtually 90% of the time and the snorkeling was amazing. We loved just being able to go back and forth between the beach and house to get snacks, drinks, towels, etc. without having to worry about leaving the kids alone for too long. We spent a lot of quality family time in the roomy house. We cooked dinner a few night in the spacious kitchen, played games and watched TV together. We spent majority of our time at the house and beach, but also ventured into town for ice cream and a few meals here and there. We had surfboards and paddleboards delivered to the house by Roger from Kauai Recreation, which was awesome. This was the best vacation experience ever and we would definitely do it again. It was the best decision ever!!

Where do I start? You simply cannot beat the location of this beautiful home! The house itself is very nice and well kept. All the amenities are provided. Very comfortable living room, kitchen, dining area. Kitchen and Bathrooms are all updated and the bathrooms are huge!!! Beds are very comfortable (so much in fact we are replacing our master bedroom bed at home). We mostly stayed at the house and on the beach. The beach at the house is fantastic! We walked both East and West and agreed that this house is simply in the best location with the best beach! We cooked and BBQ'd most of our stay but did venture into Hanalei for dinner two evenings and had lunch one afternoon. Coffee shop next door is nice as is the Mediterranean restaurant. Steve recommended an excellent service - Roger from Kauai Recreation who delivered kayaks, beach chairs and snorkel equipment to the house. Free delivery and pick up! Highly recommend - you simply cannot go wrong with this beautiful property!

Wow what a great location. Right on the sand with views of the ocean and night time Hanalei Bay to die for. The beach in front and around this house does not have many tourist at all so you are rewarded with a private, exclusive feel with a lot of privacy. Fantastic skin diving right in front. Really nice white sand beach just a few yards from the house. Really good restaurant next door is super convenient if you don't feel like cooking. Also a coffee shop right next door for the early risers that want to get up early and have coffee without disturbing the sleeping family. Really nice on this beach early in the morning! This North Shore location in my opinion is absolutely the best. Especially around sunset at Ke'e state park which is a 5 minute drive...Almost everyone leaves and you have fantastic sunsets almost all to yourself. Also lot's of other killer beaches close by. Tuesday's farmers market is a must which is right before you get into Hanalei about 15 minutes drive. The house is well appointed. Really nice big bathrooms. Owner/manager very easy to talk to and get info. I would definitely stay here again.

This was our first, one-week-only Hawaii vacation. Location: We read that winter on Kauai's North Shore means tall surf and potentially cloudy, cool conditions. But this is what we did within 100 yards of the house: Swim, sunbathe, snorkel (!), watch whales, bike, have dinner on the Lanei, walk on the beach, go out for dinner (Mediterranean Gourmet), see a Luaua (also at the Mediterranean Gourmet, we only caught the end of it), visit a coffee shop plus gallery. This is what we did within a 10-minute car ride or bike ride: All of the above plus hike the Napali Coast, watch an incredible sunset at Ke'e beach, surf Hanalei, shop Hanalei, walk to Tunnels along the beach, snorkel at Tunnels, buy a Ukulele. We made it to Poipu for some more snorkeling one day, but we didn't feel we needed to be on the South Shore to enjoy Kauai. The South Shore has a very different, more resort-y character, and we preferred the North Shore. The house: it's really the location that makes it a winner. You will pay a premium just to be right on the ocean. Once you accept that it is a reasonable value. And if you can budget that, it is totally unbeatable. The sounds of the ocean at night kind of envelop you, and you wake up to a beach sunrise. The house is as advertised, nice little details like plenty of bathtowels, washer/dryer, well-equipped kitchen and incredibly large bathrooms. Clean. Quite spacious for our family of 4. We dined in every day except one and kitchen was fine for cooking. Nice wood floor in the kitchen, wish the wood floor extended everywhere instead of the carpeting but that's personal taste. Interactions with the owner: Steve was very responsive. There was no micromanagement - no long list of instructions, either for arrival, for the house, or for departure. But when I had a question it was answered promptly. Mahalo!

I will break the review into sections on the house, interaction with the owner, and location. House: The house is in great shape. Well described by the photos. Like many other houses in that part of Kauai, the entire house is raised above ground level by about 15 ft, resting on concrete pillars. Parking is underneath the house. There is room for about 4 cars. There are a flight of stairs going up. The entry is into a large, well-maintained laundry room. Then there is the living room. The living room and master bedroom, and the lanai outside the living room have excellent views. You can see the sunrise over the water everyday. The house has all modern amenities and is well-supplied. All the amenities seem fairly new. Besides the usual, there were a rice cooker and crockpot in the kitchen. There was also a charcoal barbeque grill by the car park. There was plenty of supply of soap, shampoo, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent etc. The only thing you many need to purchase extra off is paper towels. All the conveniences were nice. There were beach towels and kids beach toys. The beds were of good quality. The dining table only seats 4, but the table on the lanai outside can seat more. (However, that table set gets weathered and make sure a chair is not wet or rusting before sitting). Interaction with the owner: Steve, who owns the house was very helpful and easy to reach. We wanted to do a mid week cleaning. He provided us with contacts for that. Location: The location is quite excellent for those who are repeat visitors to Kauai like us or those who would prefer to stay on the north shore. Since the house is quite close to the end of the road on the north side, it would be quite a drive for visits to the south or to Lihue. But there is plenty to do on the north side. The house itself adjoins the Hanalei Colony resort which has a great Luau on Tuesdays. The beach in front is amazing. If you look out from the house, you will see Anchorage point (just 100 ft) to the left. Go another 100 ft past and step out into the water and the snorkeling is amazing. We saw lots of fish, sea horses, lobster and plenty of coral. The house is a 20 min drive to Hanalei and 10 mins from Tunnels beach, Ke-e beach, Limahuli gardens. In short, if you want water activities, this is an excellent place. This is a super place for young kids (with great kitchen, laundry, beach).

Note: Vacancy calendar is approximate. Visit the owner/manager's reservation site to verify your dates.
